American School Systems Are Ass.

Okay so this guy has been harassing me and my friends for MONTHS now, and he’s literally made threats of assault against us multiple times. Not to mention, he actually HAS assaulted a person before last year. We reported him, but pretty sure he ONLY just got lunch detention, which is BS. Guess who also got detention? Yep. Me and my friend. For what? Yelling back. That’s right folks! Apparently we ‘provoked him’ and ‘instigated it,’ and weren’t truthful about the entire situation? Which cool, great, where’s YOUR evidence? Because ours was stated very clearly. Getting parents and other shit involved tomorrow to try and get the detention off our records, and get this asshole to face more consequences other than goddamn ‘lunch detention’ and a ‘do not interact’ with them warning. The system is bullshit guys.

in school, bc of the selective mutism, i was a ‘pleasure to teach’ up until the point where i became a ‘creepily silent kid who was brilliant academically but falling behind their peers socially and we think he’s not trying to engage.’ and that just tells you a story about how the school system ignored my mental illness because it was useful for them that i was silent, until that meant it deteriorated and was treated like a personal flaw.

the double-edged sword of how they treated me has shaped how i perceive work, productivity, my abilities, self worth, everything, all in relation to how much of a gift and/or an obstacle they deemed my mental illness to be. the question to them was never how much it hurt me; only whether it helped or hindered my grades, attendance, social conformity and so on.

yeah i fucking hate the school system. literally everywhere, in general, the way they approach mentally ill students needs to change 🌹🌹

And before anyone says anything yes it is useful and good to have an education but seriously?? The way it’s structured is so fucked rn.

High key this is something I need to say to myself so I’m screaming it into the void but literally this shit is so rigged against Neurodivergent people it’s insane. Like no wonder I sucked at math my tutor didn’t fucking explain it at all.

Also wow!!! Two of the most important things are good food and good sleep and what does school do?? Give you shitty food and fuck with your circadian rhythm

the school system is fucked up because I know that I'm smart but since I have adhd and executive dysfunction and can't force myself to do work that doesn't have an immediate positive consequence I'm always gonna be seen as dumber and less capable of learning than neurotypicals and am going to struggle even getting into college when my parents expect me to get into the best university because I've been told my whole life that I'm special and smart and superior but I'm below average because I can't. fucking. do. schoolwork. I know the stuff, I understand it, but I just can't do assignments on time for the life of me which for some reason dictates my entire life trajectory

if anyone knows me you all know I hate region, I am Atheist. i just don't like the idea of believing in a god. we live in the south, and schools aren't allowed to force region onto kids here. unless its a school that is a Christian school or other region-based schools

It happens to us all the time. we had to do an identity project for an English class and for the writing part that we had to read aloud, I wrote that our host is an atheist and the teacher gave the host a dirty look after class we were pulled out and she talked to us saying "are you sure you don't believe in god? it can be good for you to"

I don't really understand what she did that for or why but our host had to tell her their bad experiences with a church, and she said "One bad experience shouldn't separate you from god hon" and our host just looked at her like she was a dumb ass.

believe what you want idgf but don't push it on to kids and schools shouldn't either.

and the school system here is just as dumb

they let kids get away with bullying and shit, we get pushed into walls and shit for just "looking different" and/or "dressing differently" I have a bad region pin I got made on our bag and kids threaten to kill me for that.

I got told to kill myself in our first period and the teacher did nothing about it. she looked the other way. our host was told "You look rapeable" The other day we are 16 and they were a 19-year-old senor.

there is about 6 kids we know who are groomers and abusers and shit too that walk the halls. they do get the shit beat out of them a lot when that shit gets out by a group of kids.

i was that scared kid. i used to count the seconds. my inner child still lives that life. it’s fucked up how people will treat you and you do not deserve it. it is not your fault. 🌹🌹

i hated being the dumb kid. being the problem kid. the kid in class everyone picks on. the kid staff and parents hate. you know the one. the one always in the office, always breaking down. always mocked. having adhd and mood disorders as a child is hard. it changes you. the lingering pain doesn’t go away. you don’t grow into a confident capable adult when everyone mocks the way u learn instead of helping.
