"Well, people can ship whatever they want and you cannot stop them. Yeah, these characters are aro/ace/aroace, but headcanons don't hurt anyone. You cannot gatekeep characters, learn to share."
I'm going to share your organs with the black market.

outstanding leadership, extraordinary initiative, & steadfast devotion to duty
Daniel&Jack&Peggy, and medals earned in wartime.
"You ever notice that Thompson doesn't talk about the Navy Cross?"
Peggy froze in the middle of adding milk to her tea. After a moment, she put the bottle down and stirred carefully, thoughts racing. Without turning to Daniel or letting her surprise inflect her voice, she said, "What do you mean?"
Daniel shrugged, a little jerkily. "I don't know. Everything's always bigger and better with him, you know? He'll tell you how much he earns or how long his - ah, you know, he'll brag. But he changes the topic every time it comes up."
She tapped the spoon against the side of her cup. "Perhaps he -" She broke off, struggling for the words that would turn Daniel's attention away from the issue. "Perhaps he simply doesn't like to talk about things that happened over there. We've all been there; it's never anything like the medals or newsreels seem to say it was."
"Yeah, sure," Daniel said. "It just doesn't seem like Thompson to not tell everyone he knows about it."
"You don't talk about your Purple Heart," Peggy pointed out, not ungently. Daniel stiffened.
"That's different."
"It is," Peggy agreed. "It's different for all of us."
A pair of familiar footsteps joined them at the office commissary before Daniel could respond. Peggy glanced back down into her cup and added a generous spoonful of sugar.
"I see my top agents are spending their workday productively," Jack remarked, his smirk a sharp line in his face.
Peggy shot him a rather arch look. "I see Chief Thompson is having an equally productive day," she said. "Have you admitted defeat yet?"
Jack made a face. He'd been fighting, along with Agent Faut and some rather obnoxious pencil-pushers, to balance the New York SSR's budget for the better part of the week. Most of his morning had been spent in a meeting with the senator's aide.
"I got 'em on the ropes," he said. Daniel clears his throat, rather judgementally.
Peggy isn't quite sure who he's been more upset with recently: Jack, for taking the promotion, or her, for not being bothered by it.
His attitude was a bit annoying, to be honest. Frankly, she was never going to receive a Medal of Honor or the position as New York Chief, no matter who advocated for her or what evidence was presented to the U.S. government. Daniel had to know that, too; the man wasn't stupid. And he had to realize that having Jack in charge, where they could keep an eye on him, was better than any alternative.
"We were discussing wartime medals," Peggy said instead of all that. Jack stiffened; Daniel noticed; Peggy rolled her eyes. "I once knew a man who earned an Order of the Bath for strategic actions in battle." She considered the memory. "He had terrible teeth."
"Order of the Bath?" Jack said, disbelieving.
"For conspicuous heroism taking place in a sauna," Daniel said. Both men laughed. Peggy sniffed. They had no respect, these Americans.
"What about Carter?" Jack asked, still laughing.
Peggy blinked at him. "What about me?" she said.
"What kind of awards did Agent Peggy Carter deign to accept?"
"I didn't earn any," Peggy said stiffly. "Women aren't combatants."
That's a bit of an oversimplification, she will admit in the privacy of her own mind. There were a few medals she could have theoretically earned, from the Americans and her own government, had circumstances regarding her service not been so, well, unique.
Some Englishwomen had received medals, but their service had been different than hers - usually as pilots or somesuch, not the covert missions she had in occupied France and Nazi Germany.
She may have qualified from the U.S. Women's Army Corps Service Medal, although it perhaps would have required Colonel Phillips to pull a few strings. Peggy had occupied a strange place in the war: a woman, first of all, and therefore not allowed in combat or eligible to receive medals for heroism under fire. But she had also been a spy, someone who technically didn't exist; and a British operative working for the Americans. Both sides had simply sort of - cut her loose, after victory was obtained and she was no longer useful.
It was only due to Colonel Phillips' recommendation that she had this job in the first place. Peggy pursed her lips, then shook herself out of her thoughts.
Only to find the two men staring at her like they had just been dunked in ice water. It was a bit unsettling. She took a sip of tea.
"Anyway," she said. "I actually do have work to do. Daniel, try to keep in mind what I was saying."
Jack was frowning at her. Daniel was frowning, too, but his gaze flicked to Jack once when she spoke, before he nodded.
"Sure thing," he said, and shifted on his crutch out of her way to let her back to her desk.
: :
Peggy frequently found herself the last person in the office, nowadays, with the possible exceptions being Daniel and Jack. Right now, Daniel's dark head of curls was bent over his desk and Jack's light was still on in his office, although the blinds were drawn.
They've all been working in a companionable silence for the last two hours. Daniel was eating something that smelled hot and spiced at his desk; little noises kept coming from the Chief's office, the sound of a file cabinet being opened or the desk chair being pushed back.
For Peggy's part, she's been combing through reports of gun sales to women matching Dottie's description in the tri-state area. She has found three that warrant a closer look, and was just about to get herself another cup of tea and really settle in when Jack's door opened and he slouched out.
He stopped in front of her desk. She looked up at him and raised an eyebrow. He stared at her for a second, looking troubled.
"Yes?" she ventured, when it became clear he wasn't going to say anything to her.
"Can I talk to you?" he asked, rather abruptly.
Daniel was looking at them now. Peggy drummed her fingernails on her desk, then nodded and followed Jack into his office, where he shut the door behind them.
He then proceeded to stand at his desk, hands braced against the wood, staring blankly. Peggy was honestly starting to get worried, not that she thought letting Jack know that was a good idea.
"Chief Thompson?" she said. She didn't touch his arm, but it was a close thing.
Jack opened his desk drawer and pulled out a box. It looked like a large jewelry box and was made of navy blue leather, with gold detailing. Peggy didn't need to ask what was inside it - even if it hadn't had the name of the medal printed on it in little gold letters, she would have known.
"You should have it," Jack said. His face was grim and set.
"Jack!" Peggy said, shocked.
"You should have it," he insisted. "I don't - it shouldn't be me, anyway. And you deserve it, Peggy. We both know that." Jack glanced at her, then glanced away. "I was going to put it out on my desk but - I couldn't. I can't. You should have it."
Peggy stared at him, feeling like her heart was in her throat. Jack Thompson was a liar, and a fraud, and a self-serving, arrogant pain-in-the-arse to work with, but sometimes he still surprised her.
And, anyway, it would do no one any favors to make this into a bigger deal than it already was. She nodded, and carefully took the box and tucked it under one arm.
"I'll keep it safe," she said quietly. Then, more briskly, "Do you want me to brief you on the progress I've made in the Underwood case?"
"Christ," Jack said, rubbing his eyes. He laughed, a little wetly. "Yeah, that'd be great. Tell me you got something."
They talked for a few minutes. Jack agreed with her that there was meat in the rumor of a bank robbery being planned, although neither of them could fathom why a notorious Communist would want to rob a bank. When Peggy left his office with the Navy Cross in hand, Jack was pouring himself a Scotch, looking exhausted and like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
Daniel looked up as Peggy fastened the clasps of her purse and got her coat. "You leaving?" he asked, and then considered her more closely. "Are you okay, Peggy?"
"Yes," she said. "Just, you know." She looked at Jack's office door and clutched the rectangular shape in her purse tighter. "I need to get home."
"I'll walk you out," Daniel said, still watching her. "I'm just about done here anyway."
Peggy waited while he grabbed his coat, hat, and briefcase. She had to watch her pace a bit when she's walking with Daniel, but the company was usually worth it. Tonight, she was tired and a little shaken and a bit too reflective, and she appreciated the distraction of having to make small talk with Daniel as they walked to the subway station together.
As they were waiting for her train - hers was due in four minutes; Daniel's, in six - Daniel said, apropos of nothing, "I guess I just never expect Thompson to care enough about anything to feel, I don't know." He looked across the platform blankly. "Shame or guilt or, or loss. Or anything."
Peggy looked at him. "I know what you mean," she said.
"You know why he doesn't talk about the Navy Cross." It wasn't a question. Daniel wasn't looking at her.
Peggy tucked her heavy purse tighter to her torso and breathed out slowly. "Yes," she said. Just yes, and nothing else.
Daniel nodded, still staring across the empty platform. "Is it something I should know about?"
She gave that some thought. "It's not something I'm going to tell you," she said finally. "Not without Jack's permission, which I don't think he'd give. But it doesn't change who he is, not really. It might explain some of what he's done, recently." Then, because she wanted to be honest with Daniel: "Although you may not like the explanation."
He dipped his chin to his chest. "Alright," he said, then again, quieter, "Alright."
Her train arrived, and Peggy boarded, wishing Daniel a good night. Peggy observed him through the car's dirty, cracked window, a dark figure braced on his crutch, looking down at the concrete beneath his shoes. Peggy put one hand into her purse, pressing her palm against Jack's medal as she watched him.
As the train pulled away from the platform, Daniel seemed to shake himself and turned toward the opposite tracks, where his train going the other direction was arriving.
#peggy carter#daniel sousa#jack thompson#agent carter#peggysouson#the title is based on the requirements for being awarded a navy cross btw. in case you cared.#also the implication in what i have just written that jack regularly talks about his dick with daniel is. oh boy. its not heterosexual.#anyway this is technically gen AND canon compliant its just that they are all very clearly in love with each other too. so#also they are just straight up having. three different fucking conversations in this story. communication? i dont know her#ive seen fic where peggy is highly decorated and tbh i dont know enough about wwii military practices to know if that is realistic#but based on how she's treated at the ssr i suspect that she did not recieve awards in the war (justified by the reasons stated in this fic#and from my understanding of wwii both jack and daniel recieved multiple medals#jack got the navy cross; the asiatic-pacific campaign medal; and potentially the navy occupation service medal#daniel got a purple heart; eame ribbon; and potentially the army of occupation medal#plus they may have gotten more depending on the battles they were in and stuff? idk i'm not military girl#but yeah this was basically an excuse to have jack give peggy his navy cross and for everyone to have Complicated Feelings#this was also inspired by the fact that i realized in my rewatch that jack Does Not talk about his navy cross. he laughs and deflects#and goes all conspicuously humble and changes the topic. and he'll brag about anything BUT the navy cross (which makes me go feral btw)#backwards and in high heels#mcu#myfic

I was thinking on when Steve lost Bucky for the 3rd time (1st when he was drafted, 2nd when he was told he was MIA, 3rd when he fell) he tried to get drunk to forget, right? If he did that then...
What did he do when he lost him for the 6th time? (4th when he escaped, 5th when Bucky was in cryo, 6th the snap)
I mean technically Bucky died twice, but Steve lost him six times already.
And of he tried to get blind drunk once of those times- did he self-harm in other ways too?
To dull the pain? He can't get drunk, he heals quickly, he can't die easily either, so what did he do?
He wouldn't want to die when he knows for a fact that Bucky is alive ofc, but I can't see him acting normally or without a little bit of reckless energy.
To dull the pain and disappoinment (he can't feel like that, that's Bucky's choice -Cryo-. But how it hurts him tho).
(unrelated to this line of thought but it is relevant to the idea regardless)
That's why I can't fathom the idea of Steve abandoning Bucky in endgame.
He lost him 6 six (6) times already and he just... Went away? To a woman he only kissed once? After all he did for him, the pain and loss?
Even if you don't ship them, you have to think that to be really ooc on Steve's part. Everything in his character arc in the MCU is related to Bucky (and loss). Yes he liked Peggy, but he didn't suffer nor mourn her the same way he mourned Bucky (She was alive, but had dementia and was also very old, and had her own life).
His feelings for Peggy were more a "what if" and lost possibilities than anything.
She was an idea, a fantasy (that's why Wanda used that when fighting with him, right?). Not something real.
He wanted to be with her, but he didn't really knew her or love her (at least I don't think so).
She was the first woman that saw him for him after all. Before everything. But that's it.
He liked her for that (and her strong personality too) but did he love her? He didn't try to get on dates after he was defrosted because he knew people would only see Captain America, not Steve Rogers. He needed to represent an ideal and knew no one would understand (the pain, loss) and have the patience to be with him. That’s why he also highlighted the shared life experience thing.
So she was comforting, reassuring in a toxic and unhealthy kind of way (memories and fantasy aren't healthy when used like that). But still a what if and lost opportunity. He had to let her go at one point. And he did(!) But they had to fuck it up…
I mean... it's the same thing when you're still hung up on an ex. You want to think of the possibilities, the what ifs, the "what could have been" But when you go back to them nothing is like you remembered, nothing is like you wanted and you are dissatisfied and disappointed.
(Because all of that was in your head, it wasn't real).
And besides, he knew she had a life of her own (a fulfilling one at that) so what, he was selfish enough to fuck that up too? Without helping HIM? Without saving HIM? Abandoning HIM? After just being brought to life? After grieving him for another five years? Bucky was his best friend, his companion, his best pal…
He wouldn't do that to him. He would die before hurting Bucky (as they already stablished for most of the fucking movies) He even was like “You don’t understand” when Peggy talked to him in the bars ruins.
I think in canon (not ooc/EG)Steve would entertain the idea, but would decide to just keep it as that: An idea, a fantasy. And move on like he already did before.
Also the idea that it was a Peggy from an alternative universe is flawed because he abandoned HIS Bucky, even if in the other universe he helped or whatever.
In HIS UNIVERSE he abandoned his best friend? Not believable. And the logic of “oh it didn’t change their timeline because it was another one” is also stupid.
They already fucked up with Steve fighting 2012!Steve and also telling him about Bucky (creating another universe more than likely). And they were supposed to be undetected. Not create new universes. Thats also why I’m so keen on the idea of Steve being in a prison or something. He already fucked up once, twice if you think he went to the past to stay.
How can he be free while fucking up the timelines? Yeah, nah.
Also… they implied Steve can’t age in a movie if I remember correctly…. How did he become old?
And the idea that he went to Peggy because “Tony told him to have a life outside of captain america” is fucked up. So what? He relates his Bucky’s existence with work? FUCK OFF. Endgame Steve is fucked up and the worst character assassination I’ve ever seen.
They were just too annoyed with the fans because we ship Stucky (even tho they used that to promote the movies in panels and stuff, hypocrites -I remember clearly the producers? of the movie talk about gay characters and the actors talk about Stucky in those panels for then…be one of the russos in like 1 second and have that shit ass, fuck ass ending for Steve and Bucky. That shit was vile-).
im also annoyed with some people that now shit on Steve when umh… did you see the movies? The other movies? Not only Endgame? (Btw the only one that got a “good ending” was Tony because he died as a hero in front of everyone -even tho he didn’t want to help at first because he had a good life, the ONLY ONE OF THEM might I add-, everyone else got worse, is dead or they’re neglected and treated as haha funny character or haha funny moment)
Im all for ships and ideas and headcanons (even when I hate them with passion, you do you) but don’t try and use this character assassination as an excuse to shit on Steve. If you NEED to shit on a character for your ship to work, then you’re not doing a good job at it or your ship sucks. Idk what to tell you.

Do you understand how impeccable the writing has to be for me to go feral over a canon m/f pairing??? Like it’s one thing for me to occasionally ship a m/f pairing that are never canon who I enjoy the potential unexplored dynamic for, but it’s so rare that I actually like canon m/f pairings, it’s basically the highest praise a writer can receive from me if I’m losing it over one

i adore superbat because while the characters predate ww2 there have been so many reboots and recalls and au's in film and tv and cartoon and comic and the dceu had such minimal cultural impact that there's no mainstream "canon" referent. they might as well be as fanon based as bbc sherlock's sebastian moran

mutuals stop posting about the new Deadpool and Wolverine movie. Not because I want to see it or anything because I DONT but because I genuinely hate Marvel Studios and its shitty business practices. Also Marvel as a whole has a character who is an israeli supersoldier like????? And they’re going to be releasing the film featuring her possibly while this is all still happening.

People Loki canonically had A Thing™️ with (according to me):
-Sif (the series composer lowkey confirmed they had a night together before the hair cutting incident)
-Fandral (we all saw what we saw in T1)
-Theo Bell (I consider LWML to be partially canon & Loki having a thing with a human guy who he left on earth & was probably dead by the time he came back… definitely vibes w Loki’s attitude toward mortal lifespans in the movies.)
-The Grandmaster (no way he got out of gladiatorial slave duty just by telling jokes, plus the winky scene like come on now)
-the flight attendant from 1x1 (they were feeling each other so hard. & he told her he’d see her again)
-Lorelei (best one on the list tbh. She escaped using his secret pathways. She’s an enchantress that’s not his multiversal twin & is actually rly interesting. It’s all there.)
-Amora (also from LWML. Yes she’s probably Lorelei’s sister. No idgaf. Sleeping with an ex situationship’s sister isn’t exactly smth I’d put past him)
-Sigurd (he doesn’t exist in the mcu but the chemistry in AoA was so strong it’s transcended mediums. He’s Loki’s ex in the mcu, they just haven’t mentioned him yet shhhh)

At least our ship is canon.
You're a fucking snob. "Oh I'm so much better than these fans because I do my fandom differently" BUT YOU DON'T. Marvel fans are the absolute most cliche fans. Lmao this superiority complex people who don't watch OFMD have is honestly just masking the most intense jealousy. You've never watched the show, but you KNOW you're better than the people that do? Get the fuck out of here. You're pathetic.
HOLY SHIT GUYS I'VE BEEN ON TUMBLR FOR NEARLY A DECADE AND THIS IS MY FIRST BIT OF ANON HATE OMG. OMG WHAT DO I DO I WANT TO FRAME THIS <333

How does it feel to be the supreme Bugborg blog on this planet?
oh it has undoubtedly done horrible things to me my ego is through the roof. every time someone reblogs my art and tags it with some variation of "i didn't know this was a ship but i like it now" i get 10+ to my ego converting people to this ship is SO fun
but for realsies the best part is seeing how many people come out of the woodwork to reblog bugborg content which is SO fun. i'm glad there's been a resurgence of bugborg love lately <3

that one Zutara/Zuko stan that wanted to be like "you're annoying because your ship is a flop" is kinda funny still. I mean, in my experience? ships with a smaller number of fans have an overall more positive energy.

Jar of hearts is so good i dont even watch any marvel and its still that good
This absolutely makes my day. I absolutely love and am delighted that you gave it a chance despite not being into the MCU, and I'm even happier that it's comprehensible if you don't know the MCU!
The next chapter is possibly the hardest to try and deconstruct for a none-MCU reader, but I'm trying to make it comprehensible (and fix some dreadful choices by the writers and producers. You know when you can tell that someone thinks they're SO clever when they write something and showed it to 0 people before they present it? Yeah, Endgame had a lot of those moments but none worse than in the battle. Still a tiny bit bitter honestly.)
Am I still procrastinating on whether Alice and Seth need their own POVs in the new chapter or if we should just stick to Emmett? You betcha. Is beautlilies talking me out of my kitschy, cliche ideas before anyone ever hears of them? Yes, she deserves a medal.
I've absolutely lost track of what snippets I've posted from this chapter, so I apologise if this is a rehash, but here's something to tide you over.
(Jasper would be proud, he likes to think. Will be proud. More than sixty years of wrestling, play-fighting, and training, and he’s ready. This might not be the Southern Wars - down in Monterrey, they don’t go down as easy as these hydrostatic skeleton bug aliens - but Emmett was trained by the goddamn best.)

WIP Wednesday!
Afore I forget what day it is I shall do WIP Wednesday, because I can do that this week, having SEVERAL blocks of text to choose from, even!
Here's ~300 words from The Fic That Isn't Called 'Sylvie Bangs The Lokiverse,' in which our heroine is on Asgard and runs into Young Loki and this being some form of shipfic he immediately tries hitting on her (which is kind of why she went there in the first place, so she's not annoyed by that).
This bit is SFW and probably by itself PG-rated or whatever. The fic as whole will be E-rated, though, because of course it will.
(Might cheat and post a bit from the other WIP later because OH EM GEE it feels like I shall never get done with it so I need to show my working to SOMEONE u kno?)
“You look like someone I know.”
“Who?” she asks, wondering what he’ll say this time, if he’ll ever be able to place her correctly.
“My mother, I think.” As if that answer was a surprise even to him his eyes widen and he adds, quickly, “I’m not saying you look old. Or that I’m attracted to my own mother. I just meant… that is… I...” He stumbles over his own words until he trails off into an embarrassed silence.
The clumsiness of all of this surprises her, but he’s young and still perfecting the seduction techniques that she’s grown so used to. Which is oddly endearing in itself, really, so she smiles at him.
“Why you don’t you try that again?” she suggests, gently.
This is a young man who hasn’t done anything really wrong yet, who hasn’t been shockingly bad. Most of the others she’s met and interacted with (or, put more crudely, all the ones she’s fucked) have been haunted by their own actions, their own mistakes. She shouldn’t prefer the ones who carry that weight with them, because she knows they’d be so much happier without all of that regret… but her Loki had that heaviness in him, in the way he carried himself, and so it’s familiar and so she likes it.
But this one is different, at least for now. The story of his life has barely started and the most of the dramatic twists have yet to happen. This is Loki at his most innocent, a combination of words that usually imply deceit or at the very least that a costly mistake is about to be made, but right now it’s true, and something about that is absolutely fascinating.

if we had to take ANYTHING from the MCU to put into 616 (and bleh at it happening at all but here we are) I do love the role they gave Rhodey as college friend and military liaison, it’s a great role for him and Tony deserves!!! to have as much Rhodey as possible. Much better the Billionaire/Play boy/blah blah wrong eye color blah NO.
MORE RHODEY.
i... think that might be a thing from ults? them being friends in uni?
i think they fall out at some point in ults though but like,,,, its ults
