What Weight Loss Journey Really Looks Like? The social media and advertising everywhere tells you how easy to lose 10 pounds or even 20lbs in a week, 2 weeks or a month, right? The diet culture also hypnotize us to think that anytime you need to lose a few pounds, simply cutting back on calories to maintain a calorie deficit, the extra body fat will melt away like butter on a hot plate. Nope... The reality is most people, especially women don't lose weight like that. Calorie deficit and starvation model assumes the human body is like a bucket pour in pour out. The human body is a very complicated biochemical machine driver by hormones, biology and psychological factors. Most people give up on their weight loss effort too early too soon because they have a distorted expectations. They think their weight will plummet at the start of the starvation diet like they see in social media and advertising. But the reality is that their weight may fluctuate a while before actual weight loss happen. However, most people would have given up before the weight loss start, which would be 1-2 months. Instead of focusing on the number on the scale, focus on your mood and energy level. Because these are what will carry you through the rest of the weight loss journey. Chasing an external factor will never bring your satisfaction and happiness. Weight loss is a healing process for the body, mind and soul that takes time and patience.
