Drawing anatomy is made up of other fundamental skills that support efficient and sustainable drawing technique and practice. Fine tuning one's hand with the general fundamentals is a surefire way to improve one's ability to draw anything.

I also like the complexity of the relationship here -- even right at the beginning of the arc lucanis has some tenderness for and understanding of spite's fundamental innocence in having been put in this situation too, for all the resentment and fear and frustration that's also there. and if spite didn't actively force him to every step of the way I don't think lucanis would ever have actually faced up to and acknowledged the fact that he has y'know. the actual needs of a human being and can't persist on coffee and workaholism alone. it fucking sucks that all of this happened. but also. there's a crack in everything that's how the light gets in etc. like. god. okay then I guess)

i keep wondering about the decision if i should return back to twitter, just to gain my recognition back as well. i used to be a bit popular in a certain fandom during last summer and would gain views pretty fast too.

but then again, fuck Elon, bluesky is simply better. and then again, there was too much drama going around in that fandom i was in, sometimes id be caught in the crossfire as well. would it be a good idea to just start over on that account? or is it better to move on?

Do you have any Coronabeth Worsetwin thoughts about Abigail's reaction to finding out Ianthe become a Lyctor in HtN ("Blast. It should have been Coronabeth. Ianthe never was quite the thing")? I love Abigail but ngl I am also a Corona Worsetwin truther in part because I would find it much more satisfying for one of the series' designated Rational Moral Adults to be categorically wrong about Corona.

OH I love this! I hadn't really thought out it until now, but my first reaction is that it might have been just the general "Ugh, yuck, Ianthe?" vibe that she seems to evoke, since she's very much unpleasant on main. But when thinking about it more in-depth, I think Abigail's perception of WHY Corona would be more suited to Lyctorhood depends on which qualities Abigail thinks a Lyctor should possess that Ianthe lacks.

One thing about Abigail in HtN is that she is as much of an atheist as you can get in TLT, but also she seems to have a sort of romanticised view of John (calling him "the Kindly Emperor", "I've longed my whole life to give him my findings") and I wonder if this extends to her conception of Lyctorhood as a sort of state of idyllic quest for knowledge — "the beauty of necromantic mysteries" as Harrow puts it. She's also the leader of a House known for its diplomacy, influence, and not-so-subtle expansionistic ambitions.

So, is she thinking about Corona's diplomatic skills? Her political knowledge? Or — because at this point she still believes Coronabeth is also a necromancer — is she thinking that Corona was the better necromancer than Ianthe, as it was widely speculated?

Going wildly off into headcanon land, we know Abigail has anti-Cohort sympathies (as per Judith's files) and I wonder if that plays a part. We know that Corona regards the Houses's expansionistic strategy as inefficient, but I don't think it's something Abigail would know. Maybe she just thinks Corona would be able to assert authority over the Cohort better? (One of my pet speculations is that there's some antagonism between the Cohort and the Lyctors, and if that's actually a thing Abigail could be aware of it.)

I think it's a combination of Corona's people skill, her personal experience with both twins, and the fact that Ianthe actively puts off everyone she meets.

(If anyone has any opinions about Abigail here PLS feel free to add, I too love her but she's one of the hardest characters to figure out for me)

Personally, a solid 40% of why I am a Corona Worsetwin truther is because I think it's hot. The rest is her everything in NtN / AYU from the threatening suicide to statecraft scheming, with a smattering of that one Taz interview <3 I'm excited to see her wreck havoc in AtN.

One thing that I think muddies the water re: SQQ acting like a buffoon is that he’s much more physically expressive in the donghua? In a very comical and memorable way, like chugging the medicine he tries to give Luo Binghe when the system is about to doc him points, noticing it’s for external use only, and then visibly fainting in front of Ming Fan and Luo Binghe. He’s much more of a clown, and it’s mostly in good fun, even if it’s not accurate to the book. Thinking about it more, my ideal adaptation would have SQQ properly maintaining his immortal facade at all times, but also include an expressive chibi version of himself acting out his inner thoughts and yelling at the system constantly. Only the audience would see his flailing, and also probably SQH when he’s introduced. Also! Showing him get more expressive with Binghe as book 3 goes on and he lets out more of his real personality around him.

that's a really good point about the donghua! I'm charmed by how SQQ is in the donghua because he's such a fucking loser (affectionate) but it definitely isn't very accurate to the novel. tbh the difference between SQQ's inner monologue vs outward appearance/actions is one of the things that makes it hard to adapt from a written form! having a little chibi SQQ to express his inner thoughts is an option, or hiding his expressions behind his fan or waiting until he's alone to scream into a pillow or something lsdkjflksdjf it's tough! it's really one of those things that works best as a book, which is such a shame because GOD i want to see so much of it visually

also him being more expressive with Binghe as their relationship develops is really good :') especially post-canon! Binghe complains that SQQ smiles more at other people, can you imagine what it'll be like once SQQ starts letting more of those walls down and fully grins at him while teasing him? I think Binghe would just straight up short circuit for a second

n it feel really silly because. stuff am doing on tumblr writing on tumblr. stuff am talking about disability. all analysis & stuff. really complicated! many people not able do it! but for me feel as natural as like breathing (actually feel more natural than breathing bc have trouble breathing). feel “yeah no shit” type of a part of me. can do it in sleep. instinctive reaction!

but anything new. or even similar topic but still new n different. now. can’t do it anymore. because no foundation for it, simply not stick. even if think understand n remember, moment attention on another thing, all that go away. so probably need much more repeats for it stay. take so much effort just do one repeat.

the unfortunate thing about the diabolik movies is that diabolik 2 and 3 are both solid in terms of the Atmosphere and the Vibes but i think luca marinelli fundamentally Understands diabolik in a way that made the first movie work so well and after they brought in a different guy who to be clear is still pretty good at diabolik they all just kind of fell off. scheduling conflict that arguably gave us the eight mountains iirc (which is one of my favourite movies) but robbed us of luca marinelli's diabolik experiencing the horrors (diabolik chi sei). if you really think about it

alex garland's civil war is one of those movies where my experience watching it seems so different from everyone else's (even the writer-director's!), it's one of those alienating experiences... It sucks because I would love to talk more about it, because I think it's a very meaningful and intriguing work, but no review seems particularly insightful.

Another annoying point is that none of the things that, for better or for worse, truly bothered me about that movie seem to have bothered anyone else... For example, it's over a month since I watched it and I'm still in shock with that long, slow shot of a black man catching fire. It's such a strong, disturbing scene, I could not watch it, had to close my eyes and i was and still am so offended, and I never see anyone discussing what it means in the narrative, either as a meaningful artistic choice or as aggressive, cheap, potentially racist provocation (two things that coexist, of course)
