Just started BG3 and remembered you'd been talking about the character designs a bit, any opinions on Karlach? Her original outfit feels a bit 'designed for gamers', but otherwise, her design and personality are really fun IMO.

She’s the big red tiefling-looking lady, right? I dig her. I don’t remember especially what she looks like and for the purposes of this ask response I’m going to not refresh my memory & just go off of instinct, but I feel like even if her skimpy outfit was “designed for gamers”, her actual body design, a tall and muscular woman, is a spicy and challenging flavor for a lot of gamers*. Aloy (Horizon Zero Dawn series) was too butch for gamers, for goodness’ sake.

*obligatory “not all gamers”—I’m talking about the capital-G Gamer Dude ones who think every video game woman who doesn’t look like a Dead Or Alive Xreme Beach Volleyball character is a symptom of the erosion of western civilization.

I do! Comments mean that someone took the time to read my fic and something stuck with them enough to tell me about it. It makes me feel appreciated, and I want my readers to feel appreciated in turn. :3

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oof, probably Shadowed Heart, which is my first rare pair fic (Fashav/Ritakka). I promise to give them a happier ending in my series.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I'd say To Know Peace has the happiest ending so far.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I got a couple of comments on Bonding Moments about some choices I'd made that rubbed me the wrong way, but I haven't gotten hate publicly or privately. I think it helps that Horizon is still relatively small in the fanfic/fanart space and I don't share my ship-specific fics on the subreddit for the games.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do and I have no shame, hehe. It's mostly M/F and very light on kinks. Other than my Kinktober drabbles, the raunchiest fic I've written is Early Exit.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

No crossovers. They're kinda tricky to get right.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

To my knowledge, no, but I haven't checked FF.net or Wattpad to confirm.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope. Spanish is my native language, but I have no plans to translate my fics from English to Spanish.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

@jadefyre and I have a smut fic in the works that we started earlier this year. Also, not co-written but @murmart made a beautiful art of Fashav/Ritakka for my fic Heavy in Your Arms. :3

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Definitely Aloy/Kotallo. Not only did seeing their dynamic and conjuring up ship possibilities get me to write again after a long hiatus, but it's also allowed me to become part of a community of amazing creators both in the Kotaloy Elysium Discord server and beyond. n.n

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I don't necessarily think I'll leave any of my WIPs unfinished, but some are a little more complicated than others in terms of getting them to meet my own standards (yeah, I'm my harshest critic).

With longfics, I've since learned to write until completion and then start posting, only because I don't enjoy the self-imposed pressure to update something that's already out there since life can be really uncertain at times.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue! It takes me such a long time, but I love nailing the voices of the characters correctly and having readers comment on that and their characterization. However, I do find speeches a bit cumbersome to write because every word has so much weight to them, even though I do enjoy the end result.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I struggle with describing environments/settings, because I never know if I'm being descriptive enough to paint a full picture for the reader.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I think if it's a few sentences here and there is fine, but anything else might make it inaccessible to part of the readership unless it's stated in the author's note that the fic will feature two or more different languages.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Horizon, though I wrote a (thankfully never published) fic for Final Fantasy VII when I was around 13 years-old; trust me, it wasn't good and I still cringe thinking about the plot. HOWEVER, I miss that feeling of writing without caring about the end result, of just having a deluge of words on paper with a somewhat coherent narrative thread.

20. Favorite fic you've ever written?

It's hard to pick only one because all of my fics are special in their own way, but I'll go with Hurricane Drunk because I had so much fun describing Kotallo being drunk and struggling with confessing his feelings for Aloy in a humorous way.

It's time for my theories about why Season 2 of The Witch From Mercury was so rushed.

Hint: it's the executive meddling.

- Banrise ordered a 24/25 episode Gundam series. The goal was to bring in new fans, but doing it with a shorter series. We pretty much know this to be true from interviews. The story evolved and eventually settled into the school setting with duels, focused around Suletta & Miorine. Most of the other elements were for the sake of moving this main story along.

- There were probably two versions of G-Witch: the 24 episode plan, and outlines for a longer version that expanded upon the story and setting if they got an extension. Season 1 was probably slower paced because they expected it to get extended to a full 50 episodes, like 00 and IBO, at some point during production.

- Season 1 airs, production struggles, but the show is incredibly popular, drawing in new fans and trending weekly on Twitter. Gunpla is flying off the shelves and is difficult to find, especially Aerial, resulting in record sales numbers. Gundam is the most popular it's been with mainstream anime fans since the SEED/00 days.

- Despite all this, Banrise decides against extending the show, setting it to end at season 2. Personally I think executives didn't have faith in the longevity of G-Witch's popularity to renew it for a 3rd/4th season, especially when they had a Seed movie on the horizon, and as usual played it safe with their traditional fans instead of capitalizing on G-Witch's potential.

- Banrise requested some changes for the 2nd Season at some point: they don't want Suletta & Miorine's relationship being explicit, as it has proven unpopular with conservative fans, and tell staff to tone down their relationship and make it subtextual. Guel has been popular with traditional Gundam fans, who also want more serious mobile suit battles, so they tell the staff to find a way to include them more in S2.

- My reasoning is that we can be 99% certain that Banrise suppressed Suletta & Miorine's relationship in the show. Between their homophobic press release, some comments (and art) by the staff and the fairly accurate leaker mentioning a kiss scene, I think it's a pretty safe assumption that they were forced to change how the relationship was depicted, perhaps as early as S1. There was a lot of foreshadowing to a kiss and a wedding that never happened.

- As for the Guel and DoF stuff being forced in, this is less shade on Guel/DoF and more about how if they only had 24 episodes, side-content almost completely disconnected from the main story should have been one of the first things cut. Maybe the staff was just incompetent and bit off more than they could chew, but we also know Guel was very popular with Gundam's more "traditional" fanbase, who also complained from the start that the show was set at a school and not a traditional war drama. Episode 15 feels more like the staff needing to capitulate to Banrise/those fans than being at all necessary to the plot, while adding in the Guel/Lauda plot later to keep him around to appease Banrise and "traditional" fans.

- Season 2 airs, and while it still managed to hit all the major story beats from the original storyline, the pacing was rushed to comply with the requested changes AND finish telling their original story. Guel's sub-plot and the Dawn of Fold episode were added, but ended up largely disconnected from the main story. Things like Chuchu & Nika's resolution, more details on Notrette/Quiet Zero, and additional battle scenes for units like the Demi-Barding and Gundam Schwarzette were cut in order to finish the story in 24 episodes. Suletta & Miorine got less screen time together and their kiss and wedding were cut, with the epilogue changed as a result.

- Staff still found a way to make Suletta & Miorine's marriage explicit in the show with the rings and the sister-in-law line. Banrise exces either didn't notice or didn't care because there wasn't an on-screen kiss or wedding and their girls never said "I love you." Regardless, I don't think Banrise has an issue with how the relationship was depicted on-screen, but are very anal about an "official source" confirming they're married, despite it being confirmed in the anime. So far no changes have been made to the broadcast versions currently available.

At the end of the day this is all just speculation. Maybe the staff did just have poor project management (they certainly struggled to finish episodes on time) and wrote more than they could possibly hope to fit into 24 episodes and made poor choices for what to keep and what to cut. It wouldn't be the first time such a thing happened. But there's just a little too much evidence that they were probably forced to make changes to G-Witch during production, which I personally believed resulted in the absolutely bonkers pacing of S2 (that, in my opinion, worked out really well until about episode 20) and multiple plot points that just were either unnecessary for the main story or felt half-baked.

I'm generally happy with the final product because they at least landed Sulemio's ending despite being held back by Banrise. And while the pacing resulted in a rushed ending, the show still managed to tell a solid story with amazing characters, animation, music and mechanical designs. I personally thought the story was great and don't have an issue with how it ended, it just needed either more time to breathe or for the show to be more streamlined so it wasn't rushed.

The things I loved about G-Witch significantly outweigh the things I didn't like, which is why it's my favorite piece of media ever despite it's flaws. But the fact that it had the potential to be so much more, but was kneecapped by poor project management and/or executive meddling, will always be a little frustrating.

Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West. Like this is THE game of the century that has to be played by everyone. One is just the absolutely ingenious concept of this futuristic world where humans are basically "restarting" and you have these tribes and clans and societies and the absolutely devotion and care that Guriella put into it to make it not just believable but absolutely realistic. I'm telling you, my Anthrpological heart SOARS because they did their research, the dung in deep and hard and did not skimp on ANYTHING. Not just that, but Aloy. FREAKING ALOY! THIS BEAUTIFUL AMAZING FEMALE PROTAGONIST THAT IS UNFORGIVING AND RUTHLESS BUT KIND AND COMPASSIONATE! Like fuck yeah, this woman is tender but she's not soft. She is bold but not arrogant. She knows her shit and she knows it good!

Just omfg, If anything, play the game for Aloy! And look at her!

she has features that I don't often see in Protagonist!! She has a round face, a soft chin, she has sunburnt cheeks and wild hair. She's not tall and she has no hour glass figure. She is literally, not something I've seen in term of female characters and yet SHE'S ABSOLUTELY PERFECT AND AMAZING AND I WILL NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO HURT HER!!!

Okay, but then, THEN! IF THAT ISN'T ENOUGH!!! The features in the game itself. These producors, artist, everyone behind it who created HZD/HFW went into depth to create believable beautiful scenary in the game. I'm sorry, but I am one of those players that love graphics. I LOVE IMMERSING MYSELF IN BEAUTIFUL SCENARY! And let me tell you not only is the scenery beautiful BUT THEY USE REAL LIFE LOCATIONS!

From the Last Vegas Strip to The Golden Gate Bridge. There is Zion Human History Museum and Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array. You also revisit places like Sequoia National Park or Los Angeles Aqueduct. And these are locations in California, New Mexico, Nevada, places up in Colorado and Utah. I mean DAMN! I CAN SHOW YOU ALL THE PICTURES!!!

And The characterization! Each character is 3D, complex and in depth. You got villains yes, but these villains are just, so much more then black and white. Their history, reasoning, why tehy are. Like hell, DO NOT GIVE REGALLA A DAMN REDEMPTION ARC! There is no need for it, because Regalla in her right is a hero in her eyes! Like the woman feels absolutely betrayed by her clan and what she went through can you blame her? Like I'm sorry, but I love how unforgiving she is and that she won't say she's sorry because in her eyes, she is right. And I love this complexity in characters! And the Zenith, holy shit! HOLY SHIT! And then Aloy's characterization and her absolute growth form Horizon Zero Dawn to Horizon Forbidden WEst and omfg I can't what for Horizon 3 to see what happens just.

I will stop now, but I literally, this game. THIS GAME! This is the only game that matters to me. I have replayed HZD and HFW at least 10 times each. There is so much in them and it never ends. I love these games and I so suggest playing them <3

ok i NEED to know who prospera's boytoy (godoy) is. WHO IS HE. IT'S NOT FUNNY ANYMORE.

does suletta not ever wonder who her father is? have we gotten any idea of what prospera has told her about a father, if anything? i just want to see nadim again in a flashback or something, maybe as belmeria tells suletta about the pasts of her parents. we know belmeria's been itching to tell suletta everything for a long time

shaddiq's objectifying of miorine makes me hate him but i am forced to consider that his goals might not be the worst. destroying the benerit group = good? if you believe the means are justified by the ends then shaddiq...good guy? idk, shaddiq keeps having severe loser moments like when he lost the duel to suletta, when miorine rejected him in the greenhouse, the fact that a child accidentally spilled his whole deal to guel, he just has loser-itis. i don't want him to win he's the exact type of loser personality that has aspirations of being the dictator of earth and space or something ("doesn't trust anyone but himself")

ok so we go from suletta floating in space -> suletta in depression cave back at earth house. and the earth house kids are saying "i guess it's over between her and miorine" so was she picked up from space and sent on her way without earth house knowing what happened? man....

el5n and norea have a moment, ok. why does el5n say nika can't understand norea's breakdown? nika is also an earthian. and an orphan who grew up in pretty tough conditions. what does el5n share with norea that nika doesn't? maybe their expendability? it's not clear to me that nika's not equally expendable. more direct experience of war? loss? does he think nika doesn't share their fear of death? maybe he's saying "we're both willing to fight for our lives like you can't imagine"

someone else said this, not me, but: biggest twist of the episode is that secelia actually gives advice. martin not even getting flustered about painting the hot girl's toenails or the indirect kiss with the lollipop = martin gay confirmed /s obviously martin's got more important things on his mind than hot girls so him not getting a nosebleed over secelia doesn't really mean anything

as far as the political plot goes, we now know: ochs earth still exists as an institution and is bankrolling dawn of fold while being bankrolled by the space assembly league to destabilize the benerit group. hmm wonder how olcott and pals in the dawn of fold feel about being pawns in spacian vs spacian conflicts, if they know exactly what the score is or if they have no idea, etc. i hope we see olcott again, dude was totally set up to be important. since g-witch is printing money i don't see how they aren't going to extend the show.

prospera just keeps winning. everything has been going her way from the start and i don't even see any wrinkles on the horizon, unless belmeria and the space assembly league agent can get to plant quetta and throw a wrench in quiet zero somehow. i kind of doubt prospera didn't plan for belmeria to betray her at any time so they might be rushing to find nothing. although, the fact that godoy is ready to kill agents of the space assembly league instead of letting them go might mean there actually IS something at plant quetta

i'm so happy they've decided to not linger on suletta depressa and have her understand that what went down on earth is her mother's doing. and possibly feeling like doing something about it.

i didn't mention this last episode but guel dressing like vim is so funny and weird and sad. guel your dad was the worst. come on

we haven't seen sarius in a while, i wonder how his house arrest is going.
