Stray is one of my top 10 games of all time, so I decided to do a little replay to remind myself why I love it so much.
Full journal entry under the cut
Stray
Start date:8/18
End date: 8/27
Platform: Steam Deck
Hours played: 14
Rating: 5/5
On the day I finished Stray I sat back and said "I can feel this game is going to be very special to me." It's an odd game to be in my top 10 games of all time. I knew the simple concept of playing as a little cat (with me being a huge cat lover) would be an instant favorite, but I didn't expect that the message of the game would hit a particular soft spot in my heart.
What I thought would be a silly little cat sim set in a cyberpunk city turned out to be a twist on the classic dystopian future filled with hope, love and the beauty of the human spirit.
The game starts off with a cat falling into a walled slums of a domed society where humans have been dead for thousands of years. Our tiny cat protagonist meets the very last known human in existence, B12, a scientist whose consciousness gets uploaded into a tiny drone. Disease and plague ravaged the futuristic city, leaving nothing but memories and the robot companions programed to serve its lost inhabitants. But something special happened;
In the forsaken slums, gritty and filled with despair, hope thrived before the humans passed. When energy was capped, rebellion lit up the city with neon lights. When things seemed bleak, humans created art, tended to thriving plants, and hugged their loved ones tight. They went to bars to get sloppy drunk and laugh off the dark times with friends.
They Lived.
"Humans often said that making art is important in desperate situations. There are certainly desperate times."
Humans may have passed, but humanity lived on in the companion robots who gained sentience. The only models they had was what humanity had left behind for them. In the lowest levels of society is where the beautiful parts of humanity survived. The robot citizens didn't need to eat, wear clothes, love one another, but they did so because of the examples that were left for them. They fostered a community to protect one another all while dreaming of it all being better somehow.
The main goal of a small group was to open up the domed city, see the blue sky and go back to the long abandoned outside. It's what the humans would have wanted, and a place the robots have only ever heard about in stories.
One of my favorite aspects of the game is that while it reaches far beyond the scope of a little cat plot-wise, the cat represented a larger theme of hope for better still existing and it was time to start trying to reach it again. The cat inspired brave and bold actions in the robots, all resulting in finally reaching the top of the walled city. A sterile place where the rich and powerful operation controllers all lived; now gone. And in that city no culture, no art, no humanity survived. The robots were just robots, forever following the last directive they were given before humanity perished.; A pristine wasteland.
B12, the last human, sacrifices himself to take down the system and open the walled city to the bright blue sky. No longer did B12 feel the need to carry the weight of humanities past because they never left. They just belonged to a new society lovingly passed down. A future existed where our best qualities as a collective are what survived.
Sometimes I feel as if the beautiful message of this game gets overlooked, which is a shame when its a message I feel we all can use when the world at large feels bleak.
Nothing is ever wasted or in vain. The beauty of humanity is in what we leave behind. Even the small and whimsical things that only exist to bring us joy; they all matter.
Making music, art, reading, tending to a garden, hugging a loved one, holding onto hope... and yes, loving and finding companionship in a little cat.
"But I see a future in the companions, and in you."

Everything you Need to Know About Vegan Sausages Food
While most Europeans do not follow a vegetarian or vegan diet. With the introduction of a new range of vegan burgers and vegan chicken and from carious plant-based meat alternative brands like This.CO, plant-based meat alternatives have gained popularity in recent years.
According to the Plant Based Food Association, the industry of plant-based foods experienced significant year-over-year growth in 2019 (11%) compared to other retail sales (2%).
It's not surprising that plant-based food manufacturers are looking for the next big thing. Everyone's favourite cooking food, sausage, is high up on their list.
You can probably guess that plant-based sausages have a higher nutritional value than their meatier counterparts. But how is this possible? We will explore why vegan sausages can be a healthier option.
Carnivores, don't leave! We might be able to convince you to try vegan sausages! They can be just as delicious and as juicy as the meat-based varieties.
What Makes Vegan Sausage?
Tumblr media
There is no doubt that vegan sausages are always at the top of the list. This dish is loved by many because of the ingredients that make it delicious and savoury.
Making meat-free sausage requires many ingredients. Chickpeas and lentils are common base ingredients for vegetarian sausage recipes. These ingredients are often combined with breadcrumbs and other ingredients like seitan and tofu. Other vegetables and grains, such as quinoa and pea protein, can also be added to this base to increase the protein content in meatless sausage recipes.
The primary driver of flavour in traditional sausage is the combination of herbs and spices, which enhance the flavour of the sausage. Vegetarian sausages can be made with individual plant-based foods like seitan or tofu. This adds a smoky texture and bulk to the sausage and gives it a taste like the original meat.
Why are People Opting for Vegan Meat Alternatives?
Nutrients are the main reason behind every vegetarian. Meat is an excellent source of nutrients like protein. Thus everyone looks for it, but vegans mainly elude it and prefer protein from other sources. Plant-based sausages are full of pea protein, soy protein, and other plant-based nutrients.
The overall game is surrounded by vegan protein. So it is absolutely a game-changer. Vegan sausages have a rich, savoury flavour compared to real meat. Mainly the low-carb and budget-friendly classic dish that attracts people to take this food in their breakfast.
There are many options for you when you choose to go plant-based, like, fake chicken mini hot dogs, bangers mash, pork sausages tode in a hole, spicy sausages with pepper and rice, vegan sausage rolls, etc. Adding a mushroom, and sweet potato, make the dish richer.
How are Vegan Sausages Healthier than Meat?
Vegan food items are outstanding in taste and are a healthy option, but it doesn't mean that real meat is not healthy. At the same time, many of us believe vegan sausages are the best vegan chicken health option. However, the science still needs to be conclusive that it is true.
Vegan meat alternatives have good nutrients as it contains less saturated fat than traditional animal fat of the same weight. As we all know, a plant-based rich diet is perfect for anyone, right? Meat is also a good source of nutrients and protein, but why do we have to eat meat if we have the best meat alternative with significantly high levels of Vitamins B12 and Iron? Vegan sausages are definitely healthier than traditional chicken sausages. Thus it makes it easy for people to prefer fake chicken sausages.
Ultimately, every human should taste vegan sausages to make it easy to select a more healthy, nutritious diet. You will enjoy the wonderful experience with great ease of preparation. Looking beyond sausages is a great idea instead of choosing a lump of traditional meat.

Stray the Video Game: frequently features the theme of ‘leaving behind the past in order to progress into the future’ both in the words of the characters and in the plot itself
The Fandom: fuck you i want to go back and talk to every single npc in the entire city just like you could in undertale

Okay I think I've finally condensed my Stray Meta Analysis into a clear thesis but I can't really get into it without just going over the entire story right up to the ending and the final shot SO major spoilers ahead.
Stray is not actually a story about going home. It's about letting go of the past in order to move forward.
I don't think this is an especially daring reading, (you're all but hit over the head with it right at the end) but I think it's easier to miss because there is also such a strong sentiment of love and community and remembrance in the way the setting and its characters are presented. Specifically, I've seen multiple people disappointed that the end doesn't feature you being reunited with your littermates from the opening. But I think that with the advantage of hindsight, you realize that you were warned that this was your path right from the beginning, and it becomes more and more obvious as you go.
Where do you begin the story? With your littermates, living in blissful ignorance inside the wall. You were always inside the city, even though you weren't as deep as the companions and you had no awareness of the fact that you were trapped. As soon as you fall into the slums and get tasked with opening the gates and leaving the city, the reality of your situation is made clear: there is no path back to where you started.
This is even more emphasized by your dealings with the Outsiders along the way, and in particular I think Clementine says it best: "It's not that everyone has to get to the Outside. But one of us has to." They all dreamed of being the ones to open the city and usher in a new era, and with the possible exception of Zbaltazar, they are all in some way held in place by their determination to realize that dream. (Zbaltazar is certainly fixed in place but I would argue it's more by their reluctance to engage with the dream at all anymore.) Momo is paralyzed by survivor's guilt and needs to prove to themself the others are still out there, Doc is quite literally trapped in the sewers testing the weapon that was supposed to free everyone, and Clementine is in hiding from the Sentinels who have deemed their idea too radical. Ultimately, however, they must all let that dream go in order to usher you forward. Doc passes the defluxor on to you, Momo has to stay behind to ensure you can leave the sewers, and Clementine has to hold off the Sentinels so you can escape. The new era can be ushered in, with their help, but not by them.
At every stage, you are also physically incapable of going backward. You can't get back to the slums through the sewers because the doors are out of order and you don't have a boat. You can't go back to Antvillage simply because the vents aren't traversable in the other direction, and you can't go back to Midtown because the Sentinels are after you. Through both the narrative and pure game mechanics, you have left everyone behind. And then this reaches its purest and most heartbreaking climax in the control room.
B12, of course, makes the ultimate sacrifice in service of the future. He accepts that there is no "preserving the memories of humanity" anymore, humans are long gone and what matters is that the companions are still here, and they need to change, to move forward. You have both come so far, and neither one of you could have done it without the other, but you can't go any further together, and one of you needs to keep moving forward. It has to be you.
And when the cutscene ends, you find yourself there, unmoving, with your friend. And you can stay there with him for as long as you want, but ultimately, to complete the game, to realize the dream that everyone worked and sacrificed to get you this close to, to step out through the gates and see the true expanse of the Outside...you have to get up, and walk away. You have to choose to let him go.
Stray is absolutely a game about love, but it is also a game about the steady march of time, about being changed by your experiences, and about cherishing the things you are forced to leave behind.

helloijg i saw ur post for requests, can u do Momo (Stray) x Reader things? 😁
Definitely! Your my first request ask! Ever! So you get a medal 🥇! :)
———-
Stray game Momo x gn!human!reader
Summary: b12’s ‘death’ , has sadden your good friend/crush Momo. Mario kart can fix that!
Note: this definitely doesn’t make any sense in canon, and is probably very incorrect from the canon but I think it’s super sweet! :D
This takes place after b12 saves everyone
(Can be read as platonic or romantic, also some very tiny platonic clementine x reader, just being good friends)
(They/them for the reader, this is probably gonna be short. Angst to fluff!)
————
“Poor kitty” you said out loud, watch the poor cat cuddle the most likely dead b12, a single tear goes down your face. Doc, standing behind you, walks up to the cat and slowly takes b12. “I think i can fix them..” doc said, the translator on your arm, no longer working. But there was no need for it, since you learned the language long ago. Momo silently watching doc pick up b12, sad. At the fact that b12 died. Sad at the fact that b12 had to sacrifice themselves for the robots. “Hey, it’s alright. Doc said he can probably fix them” you say hopefully, putting a hand on momos shoulder. “I dont…i don’t think I wanna be here anymore.” Momo said sadly, walking away, presumably to his apartment.
You remember, you had a Nintendo. Or found one, it wasn’t really yours. But you do remember it! You quickly leave. With a very small “goodbye” and had left to find it. It was in mid-town, you found it whilst following the cat. You walk around mid-town, watching everyone look at the sky, and realize that there is an outside. It was beautiful, but you had a mission. To get the Nintendo switch and make your friend feel better! You start to run quickly, trying to find the Nintendo. “Looking for this?” You turn around and see clementine, holding the Nintendo. “Clementine! Wait- how did you get here? Weren’t you with doc?” You ask, curiously. “I followed you- that doesn’t matter, just get this to Momo and make him feel better!” Clementine says quickly, handing you the Nintendo.
You grab it, “thanks Clem, I’ll have to repay you some day!” You say whilst running to the slums. “That kids gonna make it far” clementine says smiling. You were already at Momos apartment looking for him, “Momo!” You yell into his apartment, “over here..” you hear him say. You walk to towards him, holding the Nintendo. “Hey…i brought a game we can play,” you say to him, smiling sadly, “it’s a Nintendo, we can play Mario kart!” “Mar-Mario kart..?”
“Yea!” You say cheerfully. You sit down next to him, opening the Nintendo and placing it on tissue box to see the screen, giving the blue controller to him. “ to hop, press R/SR, and to look behind press X/Y” you slowly explain the concept and controls. “Ok, let’s play now!” You said happily, Momo joining in. “Yea!”
The rest is history of Momo beating your a$$ in Mario kart, but it was quite alright, cause the look of happiness on his face/screen was all that mattered…

B21. “I didn’t know you’re ticklish… this is going to be fun.”
B22. “Your bed could be more comfortable than me.” “Nah, I’m good.”
B23. “You guys are so cheesy it’s disgusting.” “Why, thank you!”
B24. “Can I sleep with you? I need someone by my side.”
B25. “You’re so warm…” “You’re so cold.” “Mmh, that’s why I like your warmth.”
B26. “You’re special to me.”
B27. “Are those my… aaargh gimme those back!”
B28. “I’ve been gathering my courage to talk to you for so long and now… I did it.”
B29. “It’s obvious you like them.”
B30. “Crushing hard, huh?”
B31. “This is the place we first met. And now here we are, years later.”
B32. “Awww, is this you?” “Gimme that!” “No! You’re so cute, look at those pants!”
B33. “You cleaned my house for me while I slept?”
B34. “Wait, did you just call me cute?”
B35. “You’re my only friend, but you’re also the best person in the world.”
B36. “I’ve been in love with you all this time.”
B37. “I care about you, maybe more than I should.”
B38. “Because I love you, you idiotic mufflehead!”
B39. “Honestly, I didn’t believe in strong friendships before I met you.”
B40. “Maybe that’s the reason why we’re friends. You’re as dumb as me.”
B41. “Is that a blush I see?”
B42. “Do you want to go out with me?”
B43. “We’re friends, you can tell me anything.”
B44. “You look like you need a friend.”
B45. “Ah, ah, no tickling! Or no kisses.”
B46. “I made you dinner.”
B47. “I lit up candles and everything, you deserve to relax.”
B48. “You want it, I’ll get it. Don’t try to stop me.”
B49. “You’re the only one that makes me go cheesy.”
B50. “Here, take my umbrella.”
B51. “I think I’m in love… with you.”
B52. “You bought roses for me?”
B53. “Dance with me.”
B54. “Marry me.”
B55. “Babe, we’ll travel the world together.”
B56. “I’ve talked to you once and I already know I’m going to fall in love with you.”
B57. “I heard [name] has a crush on you.”
B58. “You look amazing.”
B59. “Best friends will stand together, even through the harshest of waves.”
B60. “I’ll continue doing this until you smile.”
B61. “Can I hug you?”
B62. “I have always loved you.”
B63. “Don’t worry, you look beautiful.”
B64. “Your flirting is so bad it’s adorable.”
B65. “Do you have to get up? I was just getting comfy.”
B66. “Stooooop, you’re making me blush!”
B67. “Uh-uh, I won’t let you leave without a hug.”
B68. “I’ll be watching over you.”
B69. “I bought you chocolate.”
B70. “I dreamed about kissing you.”
B71. “You’re my best friend, and always will be.”
B72. “Am I dreaming or did you just say you like me?”
B73. “Your smile is beautiful.”
B74. “Have I ever told you how cute you are?”
B75. “I’m with you. I’m home.”
B76. “I would have never believed that one day we’d be so close.”
B77. “We’re friends, right? Friends stick together.”
B78. “I’ll always be here, whenever you need me.”
B79. “You smell nice.”
B80. “I’ve loved you since day one.”
B81. “You built a pillow fort for us?”
B82. “You saved me.”
B83. “You always manage to make me laugh.”
B84. “Thank you for being there for me.”
B85. “Why do you care?” “Because I love you!”
B86. “Do you think of me as a friend?”
B87. “I think I have feelings for them.”
B88. “I’ve tried to forbid myself from falling in love, but now I can’t help it.”
B89. “I can’t believe we’re still friends. I thought we’d grow past the fart joke part.” “What, fart jokes are the best!”
B90. “Good morning, want some breakfast?”
B91. “I’ve missed you so much.”
B92. “Are you cold? Here, take my jacket.”
B93. “I’m gonna dare you to kiss [Name].”
B94. “Oh my god, you like [Name]!”
B95. “They’re in love with you.” “Oh shut it.” “I wish you noticed how they look at you.”
B96. “Breakfast in bed? You’re spoiling me.”
B97. “There’s absolutely nothing wrong with you.”
B98. “Nobody is perfect. That’s what makes you special.”
B99. “I want you to be happy. You’re worth it.”
B100. “I don’t know how, but you always make me feel happy.”

Ok there's kind of a lot here, but: A2, 4, 6, 7, 16. B12. C2, 8. D3. E2, 8. F11. G6, 7. H7. I2, 5. L1, 2, and 9
Hell yes, give me a reason to answer every single question, I’ll do it
A2. What alignment are they? Chaotic neutral, lawful evil, et cetera…
I think Archer is a chaotic neutral character. He is caring towards animals and certain people and then doesn’t really care about what happens to really anyone else. He tends to be more on the chaotic side because he’ll do anything for people he cares about. Literally anything.
A4. Are they a pessimist or an optimist?
Archer is a cynical optimist. Half hopeful, half jaded, fully confused. He hopes everything will work out for him in the end, but realizes that the chances of that are kind of low. It doesn’t stop him from thinking about his future though.
A6. Does your OC tend to assume their interpretation of events and reality is correct, or do they question it? I.e., “I’m sure that’s what you said” versus “It’s possible I misheard you.”
He is definitely the “I probably misheard you guy. Its very easy to abuse this aspect of him, because with his schizophrenia, he has a hard time deciding what’s real and what isn’t anyway. So if someone says he heard something wrong, or that he was seeing things he’ll believe them, because that is a legitimate possibility for him.
A7. Is your OC confident in their reactions to life in general, or do they get embarrassed or easily shamed for it? I.e., if something startles them, do they insist it WAS scary? When they cry, do they feel like they overreacted?
He might not be super confident about his reactions but he also doesn’t let people shame him for feeling. If he is startled by something he’ll say something along the lines of “Damn that got me good.” and if people are laughing he’ll chuckle along side them. He also doesn’t judge people for crying, he knows sometime you need to let it out. He won’t feel that he’s overreacted because he knows he’s been through some shit and if a little cry helps him feel better, then he’s going to cry. None of that ‘men don’t cry’ with this guy, and if that is brought up to him he’s liable to start a fight.
A16. Does your OC have to go through their own trials to learn a lesson, or do they listen and learn from observation and lecture? I.e., does your OC listen when someone tries to tell them the importance of budgeting, or do they have to go experience what happens if you don’t budget first?
Archer doesn’t know what it means to learn a lesson. It takes making the same mistake a few times and someone drilling him for it for him to stop and think ‘damn maybe i shouldn’t do that huh’
B12. Your OC orders something to eat and gets their order done in a pretty wrong way, something they can’t just pick off or whatnot to correct, or something major is missing. What do they do?
He’d just ask politely for it to be fixed, he realizes people make mistakes and there’s no real reason to get worked up over something small like that.
C2. Would your OC feel bad if they acted against their morals? If not, would they find a way to excuse themselves for it?
So I would say one of Archers biggest morals is being loyal to his friends. And he really sticks to that, to the point where i can’t really see him ever acting against it, unless it is purely accidental. If he ever did accidentally betray one of his friends? He would be devastated. He’d need at least a few days by himself before he’d even partially feel up to interacting with anyone and then he’d most definitely avoid the person even though he could probably easily explain what happened.
C8. Is your OC more practical or ideal morally? I.e., do they hold people to high expectations of behavior even if it’s not realistic for the situation, or do they have a more realistic approach and adapt their morality to be more practical?
Archer is more practical when it comes to the people around him. He realizes times are hard and he can’t expect people to not look out for themselves and he doesn’t blame them for that.
D3. How comfortable are they with the idea of death?
Death isn’t really something he cares about. It’s gonna happen eventually so why worry about it. The only thing he worries about is leaving his dogs behind without someone to care for them.
E2. Which of the nine types of intelligence is your OC strongest in? Weakest? (Linguistic, existential, naturalist, et cetera)
His strongest is most definitely naturalist, his affinity with plants and animals is amazing. His weakest is probably Logical-Mathematical, please don’t ask him to do basic math it scares him.
E8. What’s one of your OC’s biggest regrets?
Not running away from his parents. He probably would have died alone in the desert, but he believes that would have been better than what they made him do.
F11. What are some of their favorite things to do for recreation? How did they get into it? What part of it do they like the most?
He likes crafting things! He almost always has a few bows in various stages of completion, and if he’s finished with them for the time being he can make arrows. He likes see the finished product of whatever he’s putting together, it makes him feel productive, like there’s nothing wrong with him and he’s just a normal guy living life.
G6. Do they have any favorite childhood memories?
... Uh he found a Brahmin calf wandering by itself in the desert around his house one time. No idea where it came from. He was super super excited when his parents let him keeping. They’d never done anything so nice for him before.
G7. Do they have any childhood memories they’d rather forget or be less affected by?
The very first pit fight his parents forced him into. He’ll never forget it, not in a million years. Not the bright lights, not the people screaming in the audience. Not the hungry eyes staring him down from the other side of the pit. Not what he did to them.
H7. What do they look for in partners? (Emotionally, mentally, physically..)
I wouldn’t say Archer is really looking for partners. Mainly because he doesn’t think he deserves love but once he realizes that’s not true he’ll probably gravitate towards someone who knows how to take control. Its not the healthiest decision for him for him, because he will do literally anything that person tell him to, he really just becomes a pet. Archer is gay, and he likes shorter guys which is good because he’d have a hell of a time finding someone taller than him. But really he’d need someone who wont take complete control over his life, even if he thinks that's what he wants.
I2. Do they have any eating requirements or preferences? Allergies, vegetarian, organic-only, religious restrictions…
He doesn’t eat a lot of meat, just because he likes animals and if he can avoid killing them he does. He’ll eat it if it’s all he has, plus he still has to hunt to feed his animals.
I5 Are they a good cook?
No. He cooks for himself and his animals. Really he cooks for his animals and then just eats what they eat. I don’t know how he’s surviving.
L1. How have your characters changed since you created them?
Oh man i first created Archer back in 2015 when Fo4 first came out, and he has changed quite a bit since then. He used to be super strong, didn’t have any scars, white hair. Most notably he wasn’t an animal man like he is now. He has always worn a mask though :)
L2. What do you consider the biggest themes in your character, if any?
Oh, maybe your past doesn’t have to control you, or something like that? Archer has a pretty fucked up past but that doesn’t stop him from hoping for a better future.
L9. How did you come up with your OC?
I just started playing the game. It took up until this year for me to actually finish it because i finally got something for myself to play it on, and then i started to actually flesh him out at bit.

A hand brushed against your shoulder and you blinked up at the owner. Billy grinned down at you and brushed your hair out of your face.
“C’mon beautiful, to bed,” he said as he helped you stand up. “We’re getting married in a few days. You’re done staying up late and staring at seating charts.”
You grumbled something about not wanting to upset anyone as he guided you up the stairs to the bedroom.
“It’s a small ceremony babe, there isn’t anyone to upset,” he promised as he ushered you over to the bed. “Now I’m gonna take your clothes off but don’t get any ideas. You’re going to bed.”
You laughed a bit at that, but your laugh was interrupted by a yawn. He helped you take off the clothes you’d been wearing all day and slide on some pajamas that was really just his t-shirt and a clean pair of underwear.
“We haven’t had sex in months–”
“Days,” Billy corrected, but you continued.
“–and now you have me naked but you’re putting clothes on me. It’s true, marriage does ruin the sex life.”
Billy laughed as he helped you under the blankets. He sat on the bed beside you and brushed his fingers across your cheek.
“One, we’re not married yet so that doesn’t make sense. Two, what ruins the sex life is having you fall asleep on me mid-thrust for the second time in a week. My ego is too fragile for that,” he teased as he kissed you. “But I promise wholeheartedly to fuck you until you can’t remember your name on our honeymoon. Does that make it better?”
You grinned and nodded, rubbing your cheek against the cold pillowcase under your head. He rolled his eyes and kissed your forehead.
“Love you,” you mumbled as you squeezed his fingers, drifting off to sleep.
“Love you too,” he replied with a grin to your sleeping form.
------
The ring felt nice on your finger. Billy had slid it onto your finger, fitting it right against the engagement ring he’d given you only six months ago. Neither of you had been interested in a big wedding, but Karen had refused to let you get married in a courthouse.
You were glad of it now. The wedding had been beautiful.
Hands fell down to your bare shoulders before you felt a kiss placed against your cheek.
“You wanna dance Mrs Russo?”
You smiled as you offered Billy your hand, letting him lift you to your feet and guiding you to the dancefloor. The two of you moved together easily, an old pro at dancing at this point.
“Well Mr Russo, you’re stuck with me now,” you said as you beamed up at him. “I should have had you sign that marriage certificate in blood, just in case you try to break free.”
“Baby I’m not going anywhere,” he promised as he tugged you closer. “I’ve finally made you mine legally. You are equally stuck with me.”
You two are equally gross,” Karen said as her and Frank danced by you two, their baby girl between them. “Honestly, were we this gross at our wedding? If so, we may owe people apologies.”
“Hey, I never thought I’d get married and I’ve married the love of my life,” Billy retorted with a grin at your friends. “Let me be mushy and gross for one day.”
You knew that neither of them really minded, but it was the way of the game. The two of you had had a smaller wedding so they hadn’t had as much to do as you and Billy had for theirs. It’d all come together pretty easily, but mostly just because you couldn’t wait to be his wife. You didn’t care about anything else.
By the end of the night, you were ready to drag Billy to a coat closet if the two of you didn’t get to leave soon. He seemed to notice your impatience because he gave you a hard kiss before he moved over to the Castles. You watched as Frank handed Billy something with a grin before both of them gave him a hug. He kissed Delia on her forehead, earning a giggle as the baby tried to grab hold of her Uncle Billy.
Then it was your turn to be hugged by Karen and Frank. Delia gave you very drooly kiss on the cheek but you didn’t mind.
Unlike most weddings, you and Billy just slipped out of the reception hall together. Neither of you had much in the way of family, so you didn’t think anyone would be offended. And Karen and Frank had promised to handle everything else.
In Billy’s car, you stretched your legs out a bit and stared over at your husband. Husband. You were married.
“You’re staring,” he said without taking his eyes off the road. He did reach over to lace his fingers with yours.
“I know it’s supposed to be a surprise, but where are we going Billy? And is it much further?”
He grinned over at you and kissed your knuckles.
“We’ll be there soon.”
------
It was a beautiful cabin on a secluded road. Billy had your bags in the trunk of the car and there were lights on in the house when you got there. Billy took the bags in first and then he carried you over the threshold.
“I’ll do it when we get home too,” he promised when he set you back down on your feet.
The inside of the cabin had candles everywhere, roses and rose petals. In the middle of the table was a chilled bottle of champagne and some chocolates.
“How…?”
“I have my methods,” he teased as he walked up behind you, his hands going to your hips. He pressed a kiss to your bare shoulder and squeezed your hips. “What do you think, Mrs Russo? This an okay honeymoon destination until we can go on our Bahamas trip?”
Okay? This was so much more than okay. You spun around in his grasp and gave him a hard kiss, licking into his mouth desperately. His hands fisted against your hips before he reached up to cup your jaw.
“I think I promised to fuck you until you can’t remember your name,” he teased as he kissed your neck and down to your cleavage. “As much as I love you in this dress, I would really like it to be on the floor now.”
You laughed and turned so that he could unzip the dress. His fingers brushed down your side as he undid the zipper. Once it was off and draped over a chair, because you weren’t a complete animal, you swatted his hands away from the lacy lingerie you’d been wearing underneath.
“Your turn,” you said instead as you worked on the buttons of his shirt.
He’d taken off his jacket in the car so once the shirt was unbottoned, you simply pushed it off of his shoulders and onto the floor. While he undid his belt and the button on his pants, you leaned in and bit down on his chest, flicking your tongue against his nipple.
“That’s my move,” he joked as he finished getting his pants undone.
Once he was just in his briefs, his shoes and socks removed, he picked you up and carried you towards the bedroom. You laughed when he smacked his hand against your ass right before he dropped you onto a king sized bed.
“Take it all off Mrs Russo,” he said as he gestured to your lingerie, “unless you want me to rip it off of you.”
That made a sudden heat shoot between your legs. You’d be interested in it normally, but this was an expensive set so you quickly removed it. He watched every move you made, and the moment you were done, he pushed you back onto the bed and hovered over you.
“Goddamn I am one lucky man,” he said as he kissed down your body.
He spent a lot of time at your chest, swirling his tongue around your nipples. He’d squeeze one breast, tweaking the nipple a bit while he sucked on the other. Then he’d switch and give you the same treatment on the other side. Once you were whining under him, he broke away to give you a short reprieve. It didn’t last long because then he was kissing down your stomach, his tongue dipping into your navel for a second.
“Billy,” you moaned, but he just shushed you as he continued to lick and kiss every inch of your body.
He was devoting time to your thighs and just when you thought you were about to get what you needed, he rolled you over onto your stomach.
“William Russo, if you don’t fuck me soon–ow!”
He had bitten down on the swell of your ass, worrying the flesh between his teeth with his tongue. He pulled back at your exclamation and grinned at you.
“I’ll fuck you when I’m good and ready, Mrs Russo,” he said as he smoothed his hands over your ass, squeezing and kneading the flesh as he did so.
“I will kick you out of this marital bed,” you threatened as he kissed up your back once more. “I’m sure I packed a vibrator. I’ll use it on myself without you.”
You were flipped over so fast that your vision swam a bit. Billy leaned over you with a grin that made a shiver run down your spine.
“I’d like to see that,” he said sweetly as he kissed your lips, “but not tonight. I’m gonna give you what you really need.”
You had another snarky comment on the tip of your tongue, because he’d been kissing on your body for half an hour and you were keyed up beyond belief, but he dropped between your legs before you had the chance. All that came out was a high pitched moan when he spread your folds and licked up the length of your slit. Then he did it again, thrusting his tongue inside your hole to taste you.
One hand went to his head, threading through his hair and holding on tight. Your other hand went to the hand he had pressed against your thigh and you linked your fingers with his. He looked up while he went down on you, his other hand between your legs so that he could pump his fingers in and out of you. His eyes were nearly black as he stared up at you, a glint in his eyes that told you he was getting off on just this.
You moaned loudly when his fingers brushed your g-spot at the same time as he sealed his lips around your clit and sucked. He chuckled against you as you continued to thrust your hips against his face, desperate and eager to come at this point. He rotated his fingers and did it again, sucking harder this time. The force of your orgasm had you sitting up and curling around his head, your legs tight around him.
When you relaxed, he sat up and grinned at you. The bottom half of his face was soaked but he just wiped his hand across his mouth before he reached down to palm at his cock. He stroked it a few times before he leaned over you once more. His mouth found yours easily and you moaned at the taste.
“I need you inside me,” you nearly begged against his lips.
He smiled as he kissed you harder, moving between your legs.
“How could I deny such a sweet request from my bride?”
He pushed two fingers inside of you and then added a third, rotating his wrist to make sure you were ready for him. You whined when he pulled them out, but then he was lining his cock up with your entrance and you spread your legs wider for him.
Even though you were more than ready for him, Billy pushed in so slowly that you were sure you were going to die before he was done. The stretch was just this side of enough but you needed more. Even as you tried to move your hips to urge him forward, he just pressed his hand down low on your stomach to hold you still.
“Billy,” you pleaded as you tried to get leverage with your feet on the bedspread, “please, I need you.”
He smirked down at you before he pushed in completely, filling you in a quick thrust. You gasped and reached up to grasp his head to pull him into a kiss.
A hand went to yours and he linked your fingers together. You smiled up at him, enjoying the romantic moment in the midst of the arousal and desire that was crashing over you both. He gave a shallow thrust of his hips and you whined.
He grinned down at you before he picked up the pace. Every thrust was met by your own, both of you moving together in a very familiar way. The whole time he stared down at your face, both of you unable to stop smiling and kissing each other.
“We’re married,” he mumbled against your lips at one point, his eyes closing as you squeezed around him.
“We’re married,” you repeated as you used your free hand to run through his sweaty hair, tugging on it a little bit.
He kissed you hard before he released your hand. He reached under you and lifted both of your legs up, bending you almost in half. The new angle was good enough, but he started to pound into you relentlessly. You were left to moan and whimper as his thrusts increased, your hands limp against his sides as you simply rode out the pleasure.
“Billy, I’m–”
He let one of your legs drop so that he could rub your clit hard, dragging you over that precipice. Your body shook with your orgasm and you tightened around his cock until you could feel him spilling inside of you. He slumped a bit on you, dropping your other leg so that he could reach up and cup your cheek, kissing you hard.
“I love you so much,” you mumbled into the kiss, feeling a lazy satisfaction start to settle in your limbs.
He passed his hands over your body gently before he moved. He rolled onto his back, pulling you on top of him. His cock was still mostly hard and you lowered yourself onto it easily, rolling your hips a bit to get used to the new angle.
Your hands sought out his, linking your fingers and pushing them down onto the bed on either side of his head. It meant you had to lean over him, but that just made the angle more intense. You used your legs to bounce up and down on his cock; slow to raise up, and then harder on the downstroke. Every thrust pressed against you deliciously and you knew you wouldn’t need more than just this.
There was something incredibly intimate about the position. Your hands linked, both of you staring at one another. Every move felt like you were trying to become one physical entity. He released one of your hands to skim his hand up the length of your back. Then it went over your shoulder and down your front, teasing your nipples and then lower. He rubbed at your clit a few times until you were shaking above him, on the cusp of another orgasm.
His hand came up to wrap around your throat, not squeezing but holding. He used that grip to pull you into a kiss as he fucked up into you harder. You rolled your hips, your clit rubbing against him as you grinded down. The orgasm crashed over you as you panted into his mouth, his hand tightening around your throat as you gasped. He gave a few more thrusts before he was coming again, filling you up once more.
You slumped against his chest, pressing a kiss to his shoulder as you tried to catch your breath.
“You okay?”
You smiled against his neck before you gave a nod. When you pulled off his softening cock, you frowned at the mess that was inevitable.
After both of you cleaned up, you went right back to the bed. This time Billy pulled the blankets up and tugged you under them with him. He wrapped his arms around you and pressed a kiss to your neck. Then he raised your linked fingers and kissed your ring finger just below your wedding rings.
“I love you so much Mrs Russo,” he said as he met your eyes, nothing but love and affection in his eyes.
“And I love you, Mr Russo.” You draped your body over his chest, kissing his lips softly.

My Daily Routine (Imbolc 2020)
I change up my daily routine frequently - I like to shake things up each time a new Sabbat rolls by, sometimes more often if things aren’t working.  I should also note that I have a lot of free time at the moment, and the luxury of making my own hours.  I have no children or time restraints, other than making sure my boyfriend doesn’t sleep through his work alarm.
My Morning Routine
Wake up.  I stretch, grab my glasses, climb out the bed, and head to the bathroom.
Kitty Care.  It’s time to feed the cats and re-fill their water fountain.  I also take this time to do a quick scoop of their litter boxes.
Unload the Dishwasher.  After I wash my hands, I then take a moment to unload the dishwasher, and to load any dishes or glasses left out since the last time I ran it.
Hydration.  My goal is to drink more water, but let’s face it: I like sugar.  I like tea, and I like soda.  If I have either ready-made or on hand, I’ll usually choose that over water in the morning, but I do make an effort to drink at least a couple glasses of water every day.  This is also when I take my meds and vitamins (B12 and D3).
Bullet Journal.  My bullet journal helps me keep track of all kinds of things - cleaning, birthdays, appointments, holidays, sabbats, moon phases.  I try to make time for sitting down and figuring out what needs to be done each morning.  My goal is to list at least three of the most important tasks that need to be done, and actually do them before the end of the day.  It’s also at this time that my cat, Xena, likes to flop down on top of my paper and demand attention, so I’ll pet and groom her at this time.
Read.  I spend an hour or so reading and/or researching.  Usually this means reading a book that can help build a skill, improve my life, or informs me on a subject, such as paganism, spirituality, minimalism, or witchcraft.  If I’m researching a specific topic that I have no books for, then I’ll spend this time Googling, but it’s easy to slip down the deep dark internet hole and not get anything really done on this front.
Movement.  It’s winter where I live, and if it’s under 40 F outside, I’m not walking to the gym (which is about a 15-20 minute walk from my home).  This means moving at home, usually with some yoga.  I like to do Sun Salutations, but if I’m in the mood for something a little extra, I might pop in an Ashley Turner yoga video or follow a video by Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube.
Meditation.  My best meditation sessions are always after expending a lot of energy and working up a sweat.  I’ll devote about 20 minutes to meditation.  I generally don’t do guided meditations unless I’m performing ritual; this is usually just me with my eyes closed.
Self Care.  I’ll shower, get dressed, brush my teeth, run a brush through my hair, and spend some time on me.  Sometimes this is as simple as shaving my legs, exfoliating, painting my nails, or taking a file to my heels.  Other times I’ll try out a new hairstyle, put on a full face of makeup, or give myself a mani-pedi.  My goal is to go out of my way and do at least one thing every day to pamper myself that’s not part of my daily routine.
Prayer.  This is the cornerstone of my morning ritual, and the reason I do it!  What I do depends on the moon phase, but I honor Hestia everyday by lighting a candle and offering a prayer (usually with my prayer beads), giving an offering of water to the ancestors, and burning incense for the Lare.  If I’m currently working on a skill, I’ll end my session with a related exercise, and maybe journal about my experience.
Creativity.  After a long hot shower, I then do something creative.  Sometimes this is doing extra research or reading.  Other times I create a new bullet journal spread, color in a coloring book, work on a page in my Book of Shadows, brainstorm ideas for something, or write.  While I’m doing this, I like to watch TV or YouTube on a related topic.  For example, if I’m working on my bullet journal, I’ll watch YouTube videos of bullet journal layouts and spreads.  If I’m working in my Book of Shadows, I’ll watch videos on the topic of paganism.  If I’m working on writing, then I’ll put some themed ambient noise on so that I can fully concentrate on what I’m doing.  If I’m coloring, doodling, sketching, etc, I might just put on Hulu and catch up with a recent TV show.  I’ll do creative work for about an hour.
Brunch.  If I have to cook my meal on the stove, I’ll light my Hestia candle, give a prayer, and then cook; when done, I’ll say thanks and extinguish the candle.  When I’m ready to eat, I’ll say another prayer to Hestia (because I do a LOT of meal prepping, I can go days without actually needing to cook), give Her an offering of my first and last bite (because She was born first and last) or an offering of cornmeal or grain.
Free Time.  From this time to my afternoon routine, I’ll do whatever I feel like.  I might play a game, get lost on Pinterest, watch YouTube videos, watch movies, chat on the phone, or work on some project or another.
Afternoon Routine
Honoring Hestia.  All acts of cleaning in my home is dedicated to Hestia.  I’ll light a candle, say a quick prayer, and leave the candle to burn on my altar while I clean.  Sometimes I’ll burn incense as well, depending on my mood and as inspiration strikes.
Open up the apartment.  For me, this means cracking open my sliding glass door and let in some fresh air.  It’s pretty cold out, so it’s only cracked about an inch or two while I clean.
Dishes.  I’ll collect any dishes I’ve dirtied throughout the day, and sweep my boyfriend’s computer area for dishes, glasses and silverware as well.  If I skipped unloading the dishwasher in the morning (sometimes I get lazy or distracted), I’ll do it now.  No matter how full or not, I’ll run the dishwasher now.
5 Minute Tidy.  This is when I spend 5 minutes in every room of my apartment and tidy up.  It’s great when I get overwhelmed with how much to do and helps identify the most important mini tasks that need to be done per room; just set a timer and work as quickly as I can until it goes off.
Weekly Cleaning.  There are some things that need to be done each and every week, like changing the litter box, scrubbing the toilet, dusting, emptying the refrigerator of leftovers, etc.  I keep a detailed list in my bullet journal and track when I do these things.  I generally group these tasks by day: Mondays are the bedroom, Tuesdays the bathroom, Wednesdays the kitchen, Thursdays the living room, and Fridays are the hallway and getting done whatever didn’t completed earlier in the week.
Deep Cleaning.   There’s also things that need to be done seasonally, like sweeping the ceiling for cobwebs, cleaning underneath and behind the fridge, and tackling the mess that is my cabinets and drawers (they get messy over time).  These tend to be tasks that need to be done all over the apartment or are a rather big task, so I’ll do one a day.
Garbage.  If there’s garbage that needs to be taken out, I do it.  I’ll grab the mail coming back in, and go through that.
Miscellaneous Tasks.  If there’s anything I wanted - or need - to get done that doesn’t fit into the above, but was important enough to make it on my daily list in my bullet journal, it gets done now.
Close the Apartment.  Close the sliding glass doors to prevent the cats from getting bold enough to try and pop the screen and run outside.  Not that they stay out there long when it’s cold.  It’s just a pain in the butt having to go out there and retrieve them, especially if they manage to get out of courtyard.
Fragrance.  If I didn’t burn incense, then I’ll spray some febreeze around.  We have 3 cats and let me tell you - the apartment smells like it in the winter.  Opening up the house helps, but it doesn’t get rid of the scent completely.  I’ll febreeze my couch and bed with the febreeze for cloth and sheets, and spray scented stuff (usually Glade) around the apartment.
Thank Hestia.  I go back to my altar, give a prayer of thanks, and extinguish my Hestia candle.  If incense is still going, I’ll let it burn itself out and then clean up the ashes.
The BF Comes Home.  Right about now, my boyfriend comes home from work.  I’ll take a moment to say hi.
More Free Time!
Evening Routine
Kitty Care.  Refill cat bowls for the night.  If a bowl is looking kind of gross or needs to be cleaned, this is when I’ll do it (before refilling it).
Dishes.  I’ll bring any dishes or glasses left in the living room or around the apartment to the kitchen sink.
Quick Tidy.  I tend to make a pretty big mess when I’m in the middle of a project, or when I’m just having a lazy evening, so I’ll take a few minutes to put away books, shelve binders, organize papers, throw pens and pencils into my pencil case, and fluff the pillows on the couch.
Evening Prayer.  I don’t do this every evening, usually because I tend to stay up until I start to doze off, and at that point, all I can think of is the bed.  But if I can, I’ll go to my altar, say a gratitude prayer to any deities that I’m working with, and clean up any offerings left on the altar.  Offering clean up might be postponed to the next morning.
Self Care.  I’ll brush my teeth, wash my face, change into pajamas.
Read.  If I’m still a little too awake for bed, I might read for 20 minutes to an hour, depending.
Sleep.

Hello Surgy Buddies,
(Who stole the face masks?)
I thought I'd stop in here and talk about what's happening in the world.
We are definitely at war.
I pray that any of you reading this is safe at home. And healthy.
I wanted to talk about the precautions we have been given to follow. 1,) Stay away from people. CHECK Most people make me sick in general anyway. Heh
2.) Wash your hands.
Ok here I have a problem. First they say use hand sanitizer. Then they say soap. I've figured out why. When you put the sanitizer on your hands the alchohol gel evaporates into your skin. Kinda like running Vodka over your hand...DEAR GOD don't waste the Vodka!!
Anyhow, it carrys those germs and evaporates in your skin. Plus you rub it in.
FGS use soap. Soap has lye in it. You know the stuff people try to hide dead bodies with. Ugh. Lye eats things away.
3.) Quarantine yourself.
WOOHOO! Video games , movies, naps. Playing with the dogs. Ooo forgot popcorn, extra butter thank you.
I make light of this because so many of us are scared. We've never known anything like this before.
I haven't been to the gym for 2weeks. Frustrating as hell.
But to think of all the germs people leave behind the place is a petri dish. They don't wipe the machines down, completely gross. The ladies locker room is just as bad.
I'm really angry that the CDC wasn't prepared for ANY epidemic. "Center for Disease Control"???
I'm fascinated that children are not getting this. Their immune system is fragile. It's a good thing right?!
Before the first cases in New York I went to the pharmacy and picked up a few things.
Vitamin B12, D, C, Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc. Orange Juice, Pomagranite juice , cough medicine, allergy medicine, Amodium, Milk of Magnesia. I keep the last two around always. Hey if you can't go I got something. Going too much I'm prepared.
Believe me many friends have been grateful for this.
I had gone to see my doc and I had a cold. Right then and there she tested me. 5 min. Later I found out I had a cold.
Whew! Antibiotics and The C pack and I'm doing fine. Seriously I felt like crap. I thought I was just depressed.
ROTFLMAO.
Please don't forget to take care of your parents, grandparents and well, anyone who could be at risk.
I heard a little story of this young girl and an elderly couple. The woman called the girl over, handed her a hundred dollars and asked her to help get her groceries. The girl did. She said she was very happy she could help. Isn't that great! I'd love to help others like that.
Well, to all of you..please be safe. You are all on my mind.
If I could, and this monster was gone we could think of this time like a snow day. Chillin' no workin'. Yippee.
Please try not to be a hero. Or go out to get some Doritos cuz you have a craving...(dammit).
From the bottom of my heart I hope you all stay healthy. We can be frightened together.
But we'll get through it eh?
Many Blessings and Namaste
Always,
Chris

accidental confessions from the matsu bros? like lets say that their crush's doing something really cute or just being there for them and supporting them and they just subconsciously say "i love you" if that makes sense??
Hey so uh it’s been a while… Don’t really have an excuse, just laziness plus all three mods are in college now. I plan to write hopefully one every week now that season 2 is coming up in just 2 months! So yeah, enjoy and hopefully I can get stuff out semi consistently!
~Mod Jyushi
You waited anxiously for Osomatsu to return from the pachinko parlor. He had been out nearly every day playing all day from the moment he woke up to the late hours of the night. You were starting to get ticked off that he almost seemed to be avoiding you. You attempted to go to the parlor and when he saw you he ran off elsewhere. You hadn’t minded at first, since you knew he loved pachinko, but his attempts to avoid you hurt a lot. Finally one day you caught him before he could get away.
“Osomatsu! What’s your problem?!” You demanded.
“Huh? W-what are you talking about?” He stuttered, fluster evident in his voice.
“You know exactly what I’m talking about! Why have you been avoiding me?” You asked.
You felt tears sting the edges of your eyes, letting all your anger out from the past week. You started to ramble, words pouring out of your mouth, not really paying attention to what you were saying. At last, Osomatsu stopped you.
“Alright, I’ll tell you why! I wasn’t avoiding you necessarily, I just wanted to take you on a date!” He shouted over you.
That made you stop and stare at him, eyes wide and a small blush on both your faces.
“You…what?” You asked, flabbergasted.
“I wanted to take you on a date and played pachinko to get the money,” He said.
Now you felt like a total jerk. Your stomach ached at your rudeness and you felt like crying. You apologized profusely, but Osomatsu stopped you.
“No, I get it, I messed up by trying to avoid you. So I’m sorry for that,” he said, “but will you still go on a date with me?”
You hesitated for only a moment, but quickly agreed, smiling from ear to ear.
Karamatsu was taking a shower and you were mindlessly scrolling through your phone. You happened to go to his house often, and would sometimes find that he was in there. When you did come over at those times, you heard him singing loudly, which you doubted he knew that you heard. Normally, you’d block it out, but you happened to hear your name in between his mouth guitar solos. You quieted yourself and leaned closer towards the bathroom. The splashes of water could be heard as he stopped singing for a moment. You thought he was probably about to get out and get dressed, but you heard him talk once more, this time quieter. You had to place your ear against the wall to hear him better. Once you did, you heard him pouring his heart out about you. A shocked expression crossed your face as you realized he was practicing confessing to you. You zoned out as you thought about how much heart and soul you could hear as he spoke about you, and soon after Karamatsu walked out and saw you leaning against the wall, staring off into space. He called your name, but you didn’t respond until he shook your shoulder. You squeaked before looking at him, slightly confused as to how he was standing next to you. As you regained your composure, you looked at him with a slight blush across your features. You steeled yourself and told him that you heard his confession, and that you accepted his feelings. His first response was panic as he apologized for no reason, but stopped when he realized you felt the same way. His face lit up and questioned if you were serious. “Dead serious,” you said as you quickly pecked his lips.
You and Choromatsu were waiting in line together, outside one of Nyaa-chan’s concerts. This was one of her final stops before leaving Japan for almost a year, so you decided to go with Choromatsu who may or may not have begged you to come with him. Your legs were starting to ache as you’d been standing in line for nearly 7 hours now. To your relief, the line was finally starting to move, and because you had come so early, you were near the front. You gave the ticket taker yours and Choromatsu’s tickets and walked into the big concert hall. You gazed up around at just how tall this place was.
“This place is huge Choroma-” You said as you looked down only to find the man in green had disappeared from your side. You looked around, trying to spot his bright green hoodie and pink Nyaa-chan hat, but no luck. You sighed, but you’d almost expected this, so you walked around the venue, checking out the merch on sale. A large glittery sign on one of the tables caught your eye. Win a Special Edition Nyaa-chan figurine! was written in pink, with a Nyaa-chan figurine as big as your torso and a small bingo cage set beside it. You eyed the peculiar set up and soon the vendor spotted you. He said a little spiel about his booth, and said for $5 if you could guess the exact number rolled from the bingo cage you can get the Nyaa-chan figurine. You thought it was pretty dumb, since being able to guess the exact number is pretty difficult to do, but the thought of getting it for Choromatsu outweighed the thought. You dished out $20 and decided if you didn’t get it in these four tries, you’d just walk away. The vendor greedily snatched the money and began rolling the small cage a little too roughly. He asked what your first number was, still spinning the cage. You thought for a second and said, “N35.” He stopped the cage and grabbed the first ball, “N43, too bad, just a little off” he said almost mockingly. You glared at him and said “I16.” He rolled again for another good 15 seconds and pulled out the second ball. “O68,” he snarked. You were getting pissed at this guy, as you could easily tell he was enjoying conning you out of your money. He spun it for even longer, and you shouted “B12!” He smirked, and grabbed the ball and was about to read it when his face fell. He quickly read the ball, “B14″ before he quickly went to put it back in, but in his haste dropped the ball. It rolled in an almost perfect way that the number faced you, reading B12. You grabbed the ball and shouted in excitement and to rub it in the vendor’s face. He looked like he was about to try something when suddenly you felt a tap on your shoulder. You turned around to see Choromatsu standing there.
“I GOT YOU THE FIGURINE!” You screamed, both over the chatter of the venue and in pure ecstasy for winning the prize. Choromatsu stared at you for a second before noticing the giant Nyaa-chan behind you.
“You won this?!” He stared at you in disbelief. You nodded vigorously. He gawked for a few more seconds before hugging you, and in a moment of pure happiness exclaimed, “I love you!”
Choromatsu stopped suddenly and realized what he’d said. He quickly stuttered out a string of excuses, but him having feelings for you too made you so happy that you just kissed him right on the spot. You closed your eyes while he stared at you in shock. You slowly pulled away before saying, “I love you too.”
You knew Ichimatsu wasn’t the best with words, but you still cared for him. You weren’t sure how you felt for him however, you knew you liked him, but… gah, it confused you to no end. At least, until one day, it clicked in your head as you watched him rest his head in your lap like a small kitten and your heart melted. Now the problem was did he like you too? He was just so distant from everyone, but as you thought it over, he wasn’t with you. You worried that if you told him you loved him, he would turn you away, ruining your relationship with him. You didn’t want to do that, so you started avoiding him. At first it was simply not answering a question he asked, then pretending not to hear him when he called you. You thought it would help, but it just made things worse. You had been walking to clear your head when you heard a familiar meow from an alleyway. You turned to look and saw one of the cats Ichimatsu would feed. You smiled and scratched the top of his head, earning a soft meow from the feline. The small cat ran back into the alley and as if some unknown force was pulling you with it, you followed the cat. Quietly you walked a few meters behind the car when you saw an all too familiar purple hoodie squatting near other cats. You were about to leave, knowing this probably wasn’t the best way to “clear your head” when you heard him mutter something quietly. You stopped, and decided just to listen for a moment, since it was rare to hear him talk most of the time.
“I don’t know what to do… I don’t know what I did wrong” Ichimatsu said, “They just stopped talking to me.”
Wait, was he talking about me? You thought as you leaned closer, trying to hear him better.
He continued, “Maybe they finally realized I was garbage and they had better ways to spend their time.”
You felt your heart drop as you just knew he was talking about you. You stepped towards him about to apologize for how you’d treated him when his next words froze you in place.
“I thought I’d finally found the one…”
Your throat clenched, holding back tears as you realized how horrible you’d treated Ichimatsu these past weeks and you ran out to him, startling him. He jumped into a protective stance as a cat would and calmed after noticing it was you. However that quickly changed as he realized what he’d said. He started sputtering, trying to explain he’d been delusional and that you hadn’t heard correctly, but you shushed him.
“It’s okay, I feel the exact same way.”
You thought it’d be a fun idea to go out with Jyushimatsu for some night time festivities, but now you slightly regretted it. You’d arrived at the bar a few hours earlier, and did some karaoke and drinking games and general activities, and well… you held your alcohol a lot better than Jyushimatsu. After about four shots of different varieties of drinks, he’d taken off his hoodie and gone around being super lovey dovey and chatting it up with everyone. Normally this didn’t bother you, you knew he was like this when he drank, but you couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous. You couldn’t put your finger on the exact reason, but it bothered you. Soon, he came up to you, barely standing straight and his cheeks a bright red as he stared at you for a second before giving you a sloppy kiss and shouting out “I love you, [Name]!” Surprise fell onto your face, and you suddenly forget anything you had been jealous about. You felt your face heat up, whether it was from the alcohol or the shock of his words, you didn’t really care. He didn’t notice your expression and hugged you again. Your mind was going into overdrive, yet you felt strangely calm. Probably a side effect of all the drinks, you thought. He let go and stared at you, seemingly waiting for a response. You smiled and gave a quick peck back, saying “I love you too,” laughing whole heartedly.
You and Todomatsu were pretty bored, laying on your backs in the Matsuno’s living room. It was a comfortable silence, but Todomatsu suggested they go out and walk around for a while. Since you both had been laying there for around an hour, you thought it was a good idea to go out and stretch your legs. You stopped at a few stores and browsed, but ended up not getting anything. Stopping at a small pizzeria, you guys ate and ended up laying down near a river in the local park. The sun was setting off in the distant and everything had a glowing tint to it. Todomatsu looked over at you and his chest puffed up just because, Wow I am so lucky to be with them. He scooched over and grabbed your hand hesitantly. You looked at him for a moment and at the same time your eyes met. He stared for a moment before blurting out, “I love you so much.” Your eyes widened at the words and he immediately tried to pass it off. He was afraid you were about to reject him when you shushed him by placing your lips on his own. He was the one wide eyed now as he processed what you’d done. You just laughed and said, “I love you, too.”

A Quarter After One, I’m A Little Drunk
@bacomnom said: Tony Stark and B12 (How do you accidentally set a shirt on fire?!?)
Tony, Rhodey
Summary: Tony and Rhodey get drunk and ask each other questions.
A/N: Silvo only said Tony, so I added Rhodey because I do love me some Tonyrhodey. This was supposed to be fluffy/happy, but I’m not sure if it’s really either? I hope you like it anyway!
Drabble challenge
[Read it on AO3]
Words: 1 033
“How do you accidentally set a shirt on fire?!?”
Tony scowled. “You… use fire close to it? It’s made out of flammable material…” He trailed off, most likely due to the expression on Rhodey’s face.
“I know how a shirt catches fire,” he snapped, his hand already at his temple as if it would help matters. “I just want to know why you did it.”
Tony’s eyes narrowed in that way that told Rhodey he was trying very hard to focus his gaze on him. Oh, he was far from sober, but then again, so was Rhodey.
“That was five years ago,” Tony eventually deadpanned. “How am I supposed to remember? You asked for a drunken mistake. Not the reason behind it.”
Rhodey burst out laughing. “Okay, okay, I did ask for that. I give. Your turn.”
Tony grinned, as if he’d won a great victory. “Okay, let’s see. Remember when your washing machine broke last year?”
Rhodey nodded, though he had a feeling he wouldn’t like this question.
“That wasn’t a natural malfunction, was it?”
“No.”
“So what happened?”
Rhodey sighed, his body slumping as he reached for his glass; not to drink, but just to hold. “I kicked it.”
“You kicked it?”
“Uh huh.”
“But why?”
Rhodey shrugged. “I was angry that day. Very angry. I had no way of letting anything out, and I was gonna do my laundry and it was just so loud and complicated that day.”
“So you decided to kill it.”
“Something like that.”
Tony barked out a laugh. “Oh, man. What were you even angry about?”
“Nuh uh. No more questions. My turn.”
Rhodey had no idea how this game had started. They had surely been playing truth or dare a minute ago, but it had evolved into whatever this was; where they only asked questions and got honest replies. This wasn’t how he’d imagined he would spend his Saturday night, but it had been way too long since it had just been him and Tony, so he hadn’t protested when his friend had suddenly appeared at his doorstep, looking lonely and desperate and so goddamn happy to see him. Rhodey knew Tony had that effect on him as well.
Tony was leaning back where he was sitting on the floor, nearly toppling over since only half his back was resting against the couch. “Go ahead.”
“What’s your biggest regret from college?”
Tony had visibly not been expecting the question, and his eyebrows met his hairline. “From college? Woah, okay, let me have a flashback.” He closed his eyes, his hands in the air as if that would allow him to pause time and rewind. Rhodey took a sip of his drink while he waited, his gaze never leaving Tony’s form.
“You keep asking about the past,” he said a few seconds later as he opened his eyes again. “We’re getting old, Rhodes, but surely you’re not getting nostalgic?”
“You didn’t answer the question.”
Tony’s lips quirked, and Rhodey wasn’t sure what to make of it. “My biggest regret was probably not having let myself be the kid I actually was. At least at times.”
“I told you you would.”
Tony averted his eyes. “You did. I didn’t believe you back then. I thought I was too smart to be young.” He gulped down the rest of his beverage in one go. “‘Course, I started drinking and partying afterwards and told myself I was making up for lost time. Bullshit.”
“Tones.”
Tony shook his head. “Sorry. But there you have it. My biggest regret.”
“From college.”
“In general. It just happens to have taken place during college.”
They were silent for a moment, unsure of what direction to take this in now. Rhodey could ask more questions and let Tony vent, or they could pretend he hadn’t said anything. Let this night end on a positive note. Rhodey wanted both options so badly that he was starting to wonder if he could somehow combine them.
But he knew he couldn’t.
“You wanna hear my biggest regret from college?” he said instead, his voice loud and sudden as it sliced through the quiet.
Tony met his eyes curiously. “Sure.”
“The fact that I didn’t allow myself to date properly. I’m not just saying this because I’m still unmarried at this age or whatnot, but I entered college thinking I had to sleep around rather than form closer bonds. I regret it, because after graduation I was just lost. I had no idea how love or relationships worked.”
“Sounds like me.”
Rhodey grinned. “We’re both messes, huh?”
“We’re doing all right today, if I do say so myself. Don’t you think?”
“Could be worse.”
“It has been worse.”
“True.” Rhodey raised his glass. “To us.”
Tony grabbed an unopened beer bottle and clinked it against Rhodey’s glass. “To growth.”
Rhodey drank and nearly choked when he scrambled to say, “Maybe you shouldn’t open it,” when Tony moved to do just so.
Tony frowned. “Why?”
“Because I’m sure we can barely stand up with how much we’ve had to drink already.”
His theory turned out to be correct, and Rhodey led Tony to the bedroom once they’d managed to get to their feet after several attempts. He knew his friend hated his couch, and was therefore not going to subject his back to it - nor his own - for a few hours of sleep. They’d shared a bed countless of times before, and while it had been a few years since he saw nothing strange about doing it again.
They somehow shed most of their clothes and found themselves beneath the covers, but Rhodey felt too restless to settle down, so he chanced one last question before sleep found Tony. “What’s your biggest achievement from college? If you had to pick.”
Tony was silent for so long that Rhodey assumed he’d passed out instantly and was a bit startled when he suddenly said, “You.”
“Pardon?”
“You were my biggest achievement. Becoming your friend and somehow keeping you for all these years.”
Had Rhodey been quick to tear up he was sure he would be sobbing right now, but instead he just said, “Ditto, Tones,” and left it at that.

11 Tips to Ease Your Transition Into a Vegan Lifestyle.
Veganism had been on my radar for a few months when I arrived in Jordan. The idea was daunting, scary even. But the things I had learnt about the food on my plate tugged at my heart. So I decided to set myself a deadline. After leaving the country (September 2015), I’d completely cut out animal products from my diet and lifestyle. No matter the challenges, I’d figure out how to turn vegan.
Since then, I’ve made plenty of vegan friends and everyone’s journey has been different. Some turned vegan overnight. Some took months, even a year, to fully embrace the change.
If you’re curious about how to transition into veganism, this post is for you. Based on my experience and that of some friends, I’ve tried to address some pressing questions: How do you stay motivated, mentally prepare to deal with family and friends, eat healthy, travel and connect with other vegans?
Here are my 10 practical tips on how to turn vegan:
In this post:
Figure out your motivation
Do your research
Transition into veganism at your own pace
Ensure you eat healthy as a vegan
Monitor your nutrition, especially Vitamin B12 and D3
Mentally prepare yourself to break the news to your family and friends
Connect with other vegans
Look up vegan-friendly cafes / restaurants in your location
Learn to read the labels and figure out alternatives
Subscribe to inspiring vegan bloggers, Youtubers and Instagrammers
Share your journey and spread the awareness
*Bonus* When the going gets tough, remember your reason for turning vegan
Have you ever wondered how to transition into veganism? What are your major challenges?
Figure out your motivation
Veganism is a choice that stares you in the face every single day. Every meal, every visit to the supermarket, every time you buy something, wherever you travel. People often ask me how I stay vegan, especially since I’m always on the road and often reliant on others to feed me.
Over the years, I’ve realised that the only way to stay committed is to figure out your strongest motivation.
For me, the primary motivation is animal suffering. The moment I visualise the pain inflicted on animals so I can consume that little bit of meat, milk, cheese or ghee, I know I don’t want to contribute to it.
You might feel the same way for animals. Or about the environment (the global carbon emissions of raising livestock for food is 14.5%, more than the entire transport sector). Or your own health.
Among my friends, Bhavna Kapoor turned vegan when it helped her deal with some debilitating health issues. Aakash Ranison turned vegan when he learnt about the environmental impact of consuming meat and dairy. Vinita Contractor turned vegan while pregnant, upon realizing how a whole foods plant based diet could ease her pregnancy.
In Iran, I met three generations of a vegan family. The grandmother embraced veganism after it helped reverse her diabetic condition. Her son and his wife turned vegan motivated by their spiritual guru. And their daughter turned vegan after learning about the plight of animals.
Think long and hard about what YOUR motivation is. What tugs at your heartstrings? What drives you? Because when the going gets tough, you’ll need to remind yourself of all the reasons you transitioned in the first place.

Do your research
Whatever your motivation(s), it’s important to learn about the hard truths.
Watch documentaries and read credible articles about the horrors of meat, dairy and other animal products, their impact on the environment and how they affect our bodies. Earthlings, Cowspiracy and Game Changers – though America focused – are a good place to start. Better still, find ways to practically verify what you see and read online.
I’ve lived with small-scale cattle farmers in the Himalayas and visited free-range dairy farms in India and Europe, sheep rearing facilities in Lesotho, animal rescue sanctuaries and horse riding estates. I’ve learnt to ask tough questions and gathered some shocking answers.
When I think of cheese, I immediately remember that it comes by forcefully impregnating a cow and snatching the kid away from its mother – unfortunately even in so called “free range” farms. When you feel like riding a horse again, remember the male horse is often castrated and its spirit broken just for you to be able do that.
If you ask me, in-depth research is the best way to deal with any cravings. They’ll go away once you associate them with animal suffering, environmental degradation and the adverse impact on our personal health.

Transition into veganism at your own pace
There is no right or wrong way on how to transition into veganism. For me, it was both a slow and overnight transition. I gave up meat and seafood overnight as a teenager. After many years of living under a rock, I finally learnt what happens behind the scenes to produce eggs and milk products. It took me a while to digest those facts, then I gave up eggs and dairy overnight.
Your journey could be very different from mine or anyone else’s. Here are some things to consider:
How to turn vegan slowly: If you prefer to make changes in small doses, by all means start slow. Maybe it means eating vegan every Sunday. Or for one week every month. Maybe it means first cutting out all animal products except that one thing you really can’t get yourself to give up (chai or curd in many cases). Or allowing yourself one cheat day a month. Maybe it means setting out a timeline for yourself and slowly eliminating animal products from your diet. Maybe it begins with the commitment to never buy cosmetics tested on animals again. Or silk or leather or wool products.
How to turn vegan overnight: If you believe in all or nothing, by all means turn vegan overnight. But do your research, especially on how to stay healthy through the transition. Which brings me to my next point.

Ensure you eat healthy as a vegan
Many people think that just by virtue of eating vegan, they’re eating healthy. But things like potato chips, coke, maggi and refined sugar are vegan too. Whether to eat junk food or not is your call, but especially as a newbie vegan, try to incorporate major foods groups into your diet. Lentils, chickpeas, beans, leafy greens, veggies, fruits, millets, grains, nuts, seeds. There are tons of incredible vegan recipes online, of which smoothies are my favourite. They’re easy to make, delicious and pack in a ton of nutrition!
While it’s possible and often easy to get enough protein, calcium and other nutrients on a vegan diet, we do need to eat more consciously. This guide by the NHS is a good starting point to work out what to include in your food.

Monitor your nutrition, especially Vitamin B12 and D3
Many people ask if eating vegan is natural since most vegans need to opt for Vitamin B12 and D3 supplementation. So allow me to bust some myths.
First, many non-vegans (vegetarians and meat eaters) are also deficient in these essential vitamins. In my family for instance, I’m vegan, my dad is vegetarian and my mom eats meat and seafood. We all take B12 and D3 supplements. Irrespective of your diet, you must monitor their levels.
Second, the natural source of Vitamin B12 is bacteria in the soil and spring water. Unfortunately much of our soil and spring water is contaminated now. These days even poultry animals are given B12 supplements!
The natural source of Vitamin D3 is sunlight, but not all human bodies are able to process D3 directly from the sun.
As you consider how to transition into veganism, it’s a good idea to do a blood test to monitor your nutrition, including calcium, iron, Vitamin B12 and D3. If you can compare your diet now and 3-6 months after you transition, you’ll discover what food sources to include in your diet.
Also note that it’s important to balance two major amino acids – lysine and arginine – on a vegan diet. While most vegan sources have a higher arginine:lysine ratio, only a few like beans, avocados and lentils offer the reverse. Make sure to incorporate plenty of those into your food.

Mentally prepare yourself to break the news to your family and friends
I won’t lie. When you think about how to turn vegan, you should know that this big transition will likely affect some of your relationships. When people close to me heard that I no longer consume animal products, they either made fun of me or went on the defensive. My food choices were scrutinized way too often – so much that I often wished for a meal where we’d talk about anything else.
Over the past 4 years though, I’ve learnt to pick my battles. I try to make things easier by catching up with friends over tea rather than a meal, or doing my research and suggesting a vegan-friendly place if they’re up for it. When I visit family, I’m super grateful that they go out of their way to ensure that I’m well fed.
Perhaps it was easier for me to adapt my lifestyle because I don’t live with family. But if you live at home, know that after my friend Monica Chopra turned vegan, she convinced most of her family to go vegan over time too! She says what really worked for her was making her family try things they love (vegan variations of cheese, curd, meat etc). She also enrolled in a nutrition course and was able to answer all their questions about calcium and protein scientifically. Her mom ended up reversing her thyroid problems, and that was reason enough to embrace a plant-based lifestyle.

Connect with other vegans
Remember that everything you’re going through – from wondering how to transition into veganism to the challenges and deep anger / sadness / guilt that might follow – someone has already been through it. Being a vegan in a non-vegan world can feel pretty lonely. Join vegan groups in your area on Facebook, follow vegan hashtags on Instagram, participate in a vegan event in your area (or initiate it), go for vegan potlucks, attend vegan festivals and conferences, and meet fellow vegans in person as much as you can. Friendships built on strong common grounds are some of the strongest.

Look up vegan-friendly cafes / restaurants in your location
At first, I was sad to figure out that many cafes / restaurants I frequented in my pre-vegan life could no longer offer me satisfying food. But believe me when I tell you that in the months and years since, I’ve had some of the best food of my entire life! I’m thinking of forest mushroom sandwiches, vegan cheese pizzas, homemade smoothies, chocolate desserts and much much more. It’s not always easy to find such food, but as the vegan movement grows, cities around the world are becoming increasingly vegan-friendly.
As you figure out how to turn vegan, make sure you download the HappyCow App that maps vegan-friendly places near you, wherever in the world you are. Look for cafes and restaurants with vegan options on Tripadvisor / Zomato. Ask for recommendations in your location’s vegan Facebook group. Scout Instagram hashtags for delicious finds.

Learn to read the labels and figure out alternatives
I’m sure most vegans will identify when I say how tired my eyes felt from squinting, trying to read every label of every product in a supermarket! Besides looking for the obvious suspects, I’ve learnt to look for ingredients like whey powder (made from milk), gelatin (obtained from boiling the skin and bones of animals), isinglass (obtained from fish bladder) and casein (milk byproducts).
The good news is that after the first few times, you’ll figure out what is accidentally vegan and what is not. In India for instance, Uncle Chips contain milk solids while Hide and Seek biscuits are accidentally vegan!
Vegan alternatives are pretty contentious in the vegan world. Some feel that we don’t need alternatives for cheese, milk and meat at all. Some are wary of their environmental consequences (almond milk for instance, can be a huge drain on water resources).
Personally, I think it’s important to use local and sustainably sourced products as much as possible. Other than that, it’s upto each individual to decide whether or not to opt for alternatives. If consuming peanut curd and adding some oat milk to your chai makes it easier for you to stay off animal products, go for it.

Social media can be a treasure trove of inspiration if you follow the right people. And luckily, there are many who’ll inspire you to stay vegan. I love Bite Size Vegan‘s extremely informative Youtube videos and SimpleVeganBlog‘s seriously easy vegan recipes. I follow several vegan hashtags on Instagram. And have started my own #TSSVeganSundays series to answer popular questions on veganism.

Share your journey and spread the awareness
Once you’ve worked out how to transition into veganism and embarked on your journey, chances are, you’ll want to spread the word. Like I said, being vegan is a choice that stares you in the face every single day. If your motivation is strong enough to stay vegan, you’ll likely want to do something more than being vegan on a personal level.
Most vegans I know have also transitioned into work that enables them to spread the word about veganism. Many of my vegan friends are now animal rights activists, health consultants, chefs, vegan business owners, yoga teachers, climate activists and more. Others have weaved in elements of a vegan lifestyle into their existing professions.
Personally, it has been an internal battle to figure out that my strength is writing, even when it comes to spreading the animal cruelty message. I’ve written about my vegan travel adventures for National Geographic Traveller, Travel+Leisure and Condé Nast Traveller. I’ve reported on India’s vegan movement for FirstPost, started #TSSVeganSundays to discuss hard hitting perspectives on Instagram and have many more stories in the pipeline.

*Bonus* When the going gets tough, remember your reason for turning vegan
You know you’re serious about making the transition if you’ve made it so far in this post. So here’s a bonus tip for you. A few days, weeks or months into your vegan journey, the going will likely get tough. You might crave something you loved (or didn’t care for) in your pre-vegan life. You might feel exhausted from all the jokes thrown at you by friends, family and random acquaintances. You might find yourself walking the familiar aisles of your favorite store, realizing there’s nothing there you can eat anymore.
Having survived those phases, I want to tell you that this too shall pass. Don’t be hard on yourself. If you must give into a craving, do it. If you must explode from anger or sadness or guilt, do it. If you must escape it all and seek refuge in a vegan potluck or vegan group or vegan cafe or vegan friend, do it (my Instagram DMs are always open for you, btw).
Most of all, remember why you quit animal products in the first place. Reach within you to find that conviction, strength and compassion again. Remember, if you think that being vegan is difficult, imagine how difficult it is for the animals that you’re not vegan.

Got the Winter Blues? Here’s How to Kick it This Year…
New Post has been published on https://healingawerness.com/news/got-the-winter-blues-heres-how-to-kick-it-this-year/
Got the Winter Blues? Here’s How to Kick it This Year…
Ohhh the winter blues. Unfortunately I know these all too well! I spent 27 years living in winter and it absolutely took a toll on me. For some reason I thought moving to Northern California would help me escape the winter blues since you know…no snow…but I was wrong! California (and especially Nor Cal) very much has a winter, it just involves more rain. The sun still sets at 4:30 and I’ve come to learn that it’s the sun that has the largest impact on the winter blues.
So if you feel like you never see the sun in winter and the winter season has been drawing on for years, this post is for you. We’re going over the signs of the winter blues and how to kick it in the butt this year.
Why do people get the winter blues?
If you notice that your mood gets gloomy with the weather, you might be experiencing winter blues. The days get shorter and colder and it’s easy to want to go into hibernation mode during this time. The winter blues affect people at different levels but in general there’s a feeling of sluggishness that comes with less exposure to daylight.
Signs to Watch For
feeling gloomy
wanting to hibernate
feeling down about the weather, lack of sun
Please note: if you’re experiencing more serious signs and symptoms that are affecting other areas of your life (for example work or relationships) you may be experiencing seasonal affective disorder which is a type of depression. Make an appointment with your doctor and/or therapist immediately to discuss your symptoms.
How to Treat Winter Blues and Improve Your Mood
There are simple lifestyle changes you can do to boost your winter mood.
Hygge down! Ok I don’t know if that’s a phrase but hygge means “a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture)” according to Oxford Dictionary. In plain terms, hygge means cozying up and embracing the winter months. What does this actually look like? This might mean lighting more candles, enjoying mulled wine around a fireplace, decking your home with cozy blankets and faux furs. Sometimes shifting your perspective can actually help you find the joy!
Gather. Although you might not feel like socializing or leaving your home during the cold, winter months, gathering with loved ones can be such a great way to boost your mood. Plan a game night, go to a show, watch a movie – so many options! And hey… if you don’t want to leave your home, host!
See the sun! The sun instantly snaps me out of my winter blues. If you live in the north, I fully know you can go literal weeks without seeing the sun. If this is you, you have a couple options.
Plan a trip! If you are financially able, plan a trip to a state where the sun is shining bright. If you can’t this year, plan ahead to travel next winter. This is a game changer!
Try light therapy. I don’t mean a tanning booth… there are a ton of light brands that you can get to try at home. Mayo does recommend chatting with your doctor before incorporating light therapy so they might be able to recommend a specific brand. (source).
Supplement. I’ll be honest, I’m not the biggest supplement taker (coming from a former supplement junkie btw), but did you know that Vitamin D is also known as “the sunshine vitamin”? If you don’t see much sun, consider taking Vitamin D to help boost your mood. Along with Vitamin D, be sure to take Vitamin K – they work as a team! (source) Lack of Vitamin B12 has been linked to depression so if you feel winter blues coming on, it’s worth getting your B12 levels checked and supplemented! Omega 3 fatty acids are also known to help improve your mood. Take a fish oil capsule or focus on eating more fatty fish, walnuts and flaxseed. (source). In case you’re wondering I only take a couple supplements: Vitamin D+K combined, B12 and magnesium. +
