Where does the game end and real life begin? This week on the Vintage RPG Podcast, we look at Gameplayers, Stephen Bowkett’s 1986 novel. At first blush, it seems to belong in that silly microgenre of panicky novels dedicated to wondering about how kids can cope with fantasy as powerful as tabletop RPGs (see Mazes & Monsters and Hobgoblin, both 1981). What we get, though, is a coming of age story in which a D&D-like game plays a prominent role in helping the grade-school protagonist deal with the increasing complexities of real life. And not in a corny After School Special way, believe it or not! The kids talk like kids, the game feels like a plausible game and the forays into fantasy are peppered with clever monsters and interesting encounters.

Since I've been playing the sims for gameplay purposes for awhile now, I can't help but think of Sim storytellers who initially started out having legacies or casual gameplay posts before it developed into a story. And really, I think that's honestly the natural progression once you get attached to your sims or you form ideas about certain events going on and boom there's your storyline right there. Because even I first came to simblr without a story. I was just playing around with Sal and Eve, taking pretty pictures before I found out there was a storytelling community and I was like...I wanna be part of that. I wanna do that. 😂

see, i don't get how people can get through the whole game in one sitting. you're telling me you kissed your butler, your best friend since you were kids, finally accepting your true feelings and deciding in that moment that neither law nor class status will ever keep you apart...and then you just kept playing?

Heads up for peeps who use Snow Crows for builds and play Untamed! Despite all builds now being put in 'Legacy' this does not mean the class is now dead/unplayable

As said in this screen shot from the Snow Crows discord, the class is still playable but the curators/build testers aren't trying it out anymore because of the small nerf to the skill reduction cool down going for reducing all skills by 4 seconds to 3 seconds. Rest assured that your spec is still usable and not dead! \o/
