Genshin Fic Reccomendations

Here are some of my personal fic reccs. All links go to AO3. Some of these are from writers I've had the great honor to get to know. Others are ones I've stumbled across over the course of the last few years. All have a special place in my heart and I wanted to take the time in the final week of the year to lift up other writers!

This list is alphabetical by character (and skews heavily towards Dottore). Dividers are from saradika-graphics.

Alhaitham

The Brazen and the Cold - Rosengrata

Teen. Alhaitham/OC. Rosen always puts so much attention into the dynamic between the characters and making them feel immersed in the world, like they belong there. The bickering and the banter between Aisha and Althaitham is incredibly entertaining.

Magpie - Insult2Injury

Explicit. Alhaitham/Female Reader. In which you catch Alhaitham in a compromising position and offer some…assistance. Mind the tags.

Childe & Scaramouche

Love is a Dog From Hell - Maokitty

Mature. Childe/Female Reader, Scaramouche/Female Reader, mind the tags. Absolutely heart-breaking as only Mao knows how to cultivate. Immersive and grounded in the way reader is woven into the world of the Harbingers (and all the more painful for it). This fic is one of the only exceptions for either of these characters; thanks for hurting me in this way.

Diluc

Lady Lazarus - Unlockthelore

Diluc / OC, OC / OC. One of the first Genshin fics I ever read as a whole (pretty sure). The prose is so rich and descriptive, captivating right from the start. Go check out the author’s other fics + original works

Il Dottore

Take My Everything (It Was Always Yours) - Nightfrost

Mature. Il Dottore & The Tsaritsa. Like all stories on this list, it deserves far more attention than it gets. This was one of the first Dottore fics I read, back when little was available other than the manga and a few brave people were creating content based on that alone. The writing itself is beautiful, poetic in the way it portrays his rise to power and his dedication to the Tsaritsa despite his hatred for the gods. The warnings should be heeded (torture, descriptions of torture, monsterification, not a happy ending).

Moon Waltz - Yoshinori

General Audiences. Gender neutral reader/Dottore. An enjoyable mix of canon and headcanon, especially with the Segment lore thrown into the mix.

I’ll Break You - 12thFatui

Teen. Il Dottore/Female Reader. Beloved enemies to lovers with lots of world building. An indulgent favorite read.

Lungs Into Gills - Lestaire

Explicit. Il Dottore/Female Reader. The definitive Sharktorre fic. Need I go on? (I’m absolutely enabling you again if you ever do more with this).

Solar Flare - Lestaire

Explicit. Il Dottore/Female Reader. A Fontainian scientist finds herself in Snezhnaya as Dottore’s new assistant. Shenanigans and pining ensure. It’s been a treat to see this story develop! <3 I’m looking forward to the rest of it (and all of you should too!)

Not Rated. Il Dottore/Female Reader. Yandere, dark themes, unhealthy relationship. Whenever I’m in need of a dark yandere fic for Dottore, this one comes to mind.

He Hates You - Sweatandwoe

Explicit. Il Dottore/Reader. He just can’t stop thinking about you and has little self-control (and we love him for it)

Arrangement - Sherwood

Explicit. Il Dottore/Reader. Modern AU in which Dottore is a sugar daddy and both of you toe the boundaries. Mind the tags.

Motion Sickness - Chickenparm

General Audiences. Il Dottore/Reader. Zandik explores ancient technology. It doesn’t go as planned.

Eventide - Chickenparm

Explicit. Il Dottore/Female Reader. Unrequited love, mild yandere themes, smut; mind the tags. Another fic in which the writing is just as captivating as the character interactions themselves. The dynamic is perfect and I love the reader character in this, who could easily be their own person.

A Seed of Doubt - Krokus

Explicit. Il Dottore/Lumine. Hurt/comfort, smut. BDSM and sub/dom relationship, in which Dottore is (of course) perceptive. Mind the tags.

Responsiveness - Krokus

Explicit. Il Dottore/Lumine. Smut, BDSM, sub/dom relationship, implied drugging. A little experiment to see how Lumine reacts to his touch (and more). Mind the tags.

Crackling of Fire and Lightning - harmonic_melody

General Audiences. Il Dottore/La Signora. Signora survives her duel with the Raiden Shogun but returns with a newfound fear of lightning. Emotional hurt/comfort, and as usual Dottore sucks at feelings.

More Than Routine - morikouyou

Explicit. Il Dottore/Female Reader. Mind the tags; violence and noncon, generally a dark fic. Reader remembers Dottore from when he was Zandik, and finds herself a subject of his experiments.

Quid Pro Quo - Petrichorium

Explicit. Il Dottore/Female Reader. A deal with Dottore to help find a cure seals Reader’s fate. Jealous and repressed as only he can be, mixed with a Reader character who knows exactly how to get what she wants. Lives rent free in my head a lot.

Pale Flames Withering - Cassander

Explicit. Il Dottore/Pierro, Il Dottore’s Segments/Pierro. A beautiful relationship study in which both are bad with feelings, juggling immortality, and misinterpreting one another.

Kaveh

Even Exchange - Chickenparm

Explicit. Kaveh/Neutral Reader. Cute dynamic and a reader character that’s easy to believe exists within the universe; organic in their banter and interactions with Kaveh.

Scaramouche

Inauguration - Chickenparm

Explicit. Scaramouche/Female reader. Companion fic to Eventide. The only other exception for me regarding Scaramouche. Love the characterization! Scaramouche, so close to godhood, and yet so lonely, insecure; Reader, strong-willed and unbelieving. Themes are on-point, such a good balance to Dottore’s character in the other fic.

Xiao

Preta - Maokitty

Teen. Xiao/Gender neutral reader (if that’s wrong, correct me Mao; going by AO3 tags). Xianxia, with a lot of in-depth clarification and notes for those not familiar with the genre. I’ve been meaning to go back to this one, both for the prose and because I have a soft spot for the yaksha and adepti of Liyue.

Zhongli

Against All Odds Series - Rosengrata

Teen. Zhongli/Original Female Character. Hauteclaire struggles with her place as a Khaenri’ahn in a post-cataclysmic world; Zhongli is one of the few who understands the burden of a long life.

Stay Gold - Enegmatic

Mature. Zhongli/Female Reader. Reader comes from Fontaine and, upon looking for a new start, bumps right into Zhongli. Such good world-building and organic interactions, tension absolutely on point!

emotional anguish for when you really need to feel something (my holy trinity):

the common thread to be found within these fics is that they’re all quite intense. they can get pretty uncomfortable at times. none of these have outright sad endings though!

heartslogos is just a genius and any of their fics are wonderful. like genuinely this is a marriage proposal pls ily. but this fic is like a character study and a high stakes action plot rolled into one experience

sad, sad, sad:

mcd, sad endings, generally melancholic vibes. for when you just need a good cry

soldier boy, tripping over himself to win my praise by thissupposedcrime

yuri on ice; otayuri; ~44k; incomplete

it hasn’t been completed yet but the foreshadowing and feelings of doom is just vibes. this fic is tragic and is my favourite characterization of yura to date

the sky at 10:15AM by dustshells

this fic just really hurt me a lot :(

bite sized heartbreaks:

1k fics that cause permanent trauma

honkai star rail; yanqing & jing yuan; mcd; 1588

short but idk if i would call it sweet because i cry everytime i think of this fic. the tragic father-son relationship between jing yuan and yanqing make me scream cry throw-up

blowing kisses to hurt you by thissupposedcrime

otayuri; breakup fic; 1015 

same author as soldier boy so you know i love the characterization. there's no death in this but this separation is just as tragic. like come on, the fic starts with “they tried"

JSBDJBDJDJ i follow like half of these authors in your reccs (ddarkerdreams, sagaumybeloved, throwawayyandere, chococolte, yandereromanticaa) BUT I literally binged the rest that you recommended so hard; their great. I don’t have much fics to recommend in return because yandere genshin is new to me. BUT, I have 1 fic I saw on ao3; I think you’ll like it. Dead dove, yandere, mythology AU, Love/Hate. Scara x reader. Title: Antithesis Author: virixie -hanabi anon

I'm glad you like them so much! Yandere Genshin has so much content. Not even counting the sagau cult. There is a different type of sagau which you could say is the original.

Self-aware genshin is in which the characters are self-aware of the player and that they're characters in a game. At this point sagau is basically the cult so it's been buried beneath the sagau cult.

A good way to pass the time is that whenever I'm bored and want some yandere, I just search the yandere genshin tag on all of Tumblr. I find new fics and even authors like that.

Oh and I've begun reading the fic you recommended. It's really well written and their concept of Scara is super interesting to see with him being the pov.

@snxxiao with some good yandere Genshin.

@rainba who does the same (it's not explicitly labeled yandere but it most definitely is yandere).

@hunnieknight it's not fics but more like headcanons to touch multiple characters. What's super cool is that they draw art to match their writing!

@mayullla is a sagau writer who is most popular for their team comp asks. Like sagau with the player being the creator and everyone aware of that. It's mostly on how the characters will react to being in the teams that requesters ask. The box is closed unfortunately but I would have loved to send a ask on my team T-T

Omggg there are so many things I love about her 🥹 her idle with the seahorse is right at the top of my list, personally. I don’t have a screenshot on hand but look at this cute art someone drew of them

I also really love how she twirls her sword at the end of her normal attacks, and ofc I’m obsessed with her changing outfit and hair! And yes, her bubble!! She really is just so cute, I’m super happy that they gave us such an adorable girl failure. And omg, dinner guest anon 👀 I’m sure you also peeped Neuvillette’s sad little face and how worried he seemed to be about her. PLUS where she said he’d served his role well these last 500 years cmdmxkdkd look … I’m telling you, Mihoyo is doing all the heavy lifting here haha

Also regarding toxic yuri fics … reading this message of yours, I had the thought of Arlecchino bullying Furina and her cute little handmaid at the same time. Are we yay or nay? Can Father handle two brats at once? 👀

Omg I swear that you are appearing on all of the blogs I frequent lately with your big brain (just saw you on sinful yandere after catching you on a few other blogs). That being said, since you tend to run in similar circles to me apparently, do you have any good blog suggestions? I need more to follow. ~Naomi

akdsfjghkjgf ALAS I do enjoy tumblr mostly for the discovery through my delicious mutuals reblogging The Good Fic and I don't actually follow that many people. BUT!! i do have reccs!

There's one or two that I follow who aren't super active in the om! scene anymore:

@yandere-daydreams in particular I commissioned once; she's an absolutely amazing writer and writes a TON, too. She goes hard on the horror/dark part of it, and is mostly into genshin rn, but her original works are super enjoyable too!

And @sugarfairychan who is not into om! at all, and in fact writes more for bnha; I found them through their REALLY AMAZING original yandere ideas. They're pretty much on the opposite side of the spectrum compared to what daydreams writes sdkfglhfg

Here are the ones who are relatively active that I know of:

@mimi-the-lucifer-stan I haven't gotten around to yelling at, but they have a really amazing yandere!Diavolo/Reader series going on right now! The last three chapters in particular have been absolutely POPPIN.

@undead-merman I cannot for the life of me remember if you know this one already but these guys are absolutely awesome!! Lots of monsterfucking and the yandere is just the right mix of romance and monsters-not-conforming-to-human-values for me,,, <3

@demon-fucking-therapist is an awesome writer and a great friend; they're writing a yandere!demons series with a dom!reader, so on the lighter side, but I super super enjoy it~

@house-of-laminations is another friend who has started to have more time for tumblr recently! Their stuff is more darkfic than yandere, but they're still into the juicy monster headcanons and ideas (this is their sfw blog, though, you can be horny at them on @purgatory-ho where they write DELICIOUS stuff!!!)

For non-yandere works, I can't recommend @demonfamilytherapist enough,,, demon-fucking-therapist is her main blog skdfghflhg.

@obeythebutler you probably already know but they are absolutely fantastic and write some PHEONOMENAL angst, fluff, all sorts of character interactions

@inhuman-obey-me also writes some really great stuff! Particularly in the Demons Being Demons/Horror/Lore of Devildom department!

Those are all the big ones I can think of that I follow, who also post relatively frequently!! I am sorry if I annoyed any of those ppl with tags, I don't interact with tumblr tagging very much at all,,, the links may 100% be broken or whatever anyways XD

Bloomed Flowers is a concubine obey me au so basically outside of the charas its almost fully original but yeah!! my favourite genshin is kaeya but the music im listening to mainly reminds me of my oc rin but i will do my best!!

i was gonna write something new for this but! right now i dont have any inspiration that super sticks out but!! right now i am working on the second part of I Know You'll Always Love Me (And I Wish It'd Be Enough) using Paper Hearts (specifically Jungkook's cover) and its just been. on repeat right now :D so that sorta fits these parameters since that is an original work!! A Snowflake's Journey Home is also something inspired by sweater weather and i also totally recc it!

nooo, now who’s going to tell me what’s happening in this manga I left behind two years ago???? jokes aside, I am happy that you decided to spend time with other things. I noticed that you seemed kinda different towards bnha and as much as you love hawks you weren’t really into it anymore. I often joke that I killed hawks in my head and that’s why I left bnha behind hahah if you want some recommendations, I would say you should give a chance to kaguya sama love is war, it’s a silly romantic comedy and it’s really entertaining so if you ever feel like you just want to see two dumbasses in love and denial you should go for it! right now I’m back to my sw, genshin and hannibal fase so if you like any of those I would be delighted to talk to you about it, since I enjoy your opinions very much!

You can still learn by osmosis through the all nonnies who are down to complain about the series XD I still plan on letting people rant here as lets be honest, all of us need a place where we can get our grievences of our chests :p I just have no joy in the manga anymore and it's more of a chore to read so I'd rather just sit back and hug anyone who comes here to talk about it instead.

I don't blame you for killing off Hawks in your head, it's better than the character assassination him and the rest of the characters are undergoing at the moment T-T

It's hard for me to start new series (which is why I've yet to check out One Piece even though it's been on my recc list forever) but I'll definitely keep it in mind (In fact I've saved it to my bookmarks so I won't forget, it sounds like a fun anime to watch if I'm feeling a bit low and need cheering up).

Right now I'm just taking the time to go through my older fandoms and have fun there. It's nice to see how many Shizaya fics have been updated or created since my break from the DRRR fandom and I've got tons of content to go through for Genshin (I'm lucky I fell in love with a popular pairing, my grievences with how they're portrayed aside, as new content is made for them everyday).

There are definitely some series I've read before that I want to re-read (Black Cat, Soul Eater, Pandora Hearts etc).

Oh! And RWBY could drop any time so I've got Volume 9 to look forward too.

Hey laven do you also read manhwas that revolve around a villainess and time travel? And based on your scara fic do you also read cn light novels that are usually about a smart young woman got isekaid to her favorite novel and then the ml are usually the villain on those stories. After helping the villain they become strong together and become way better than the original mc of the stories. Im asking because i was addicted to those stories until i got addicted to genshin hahahahaha. Now that i think about it both the manhwa and the cn lightnovels i have been reading almost has the same plots.
