i can nit-pick all day long (and i will) but what really gets me about these two episodes is how completely devoid of tension they are. there's the main conflict - mae's mission to assassinate the four jedi, capturing her, identifying her master - but all of this is undercut by the fact that we barely know mae and don't at all know the jedi she's targeting. there's no time to become emotionally invested. i empathize with the show's constraints (all new characters in a mostly new setting in just 8 short episodes) but it wouldn't have been such a glaring problem if they had properly utilized the other avenues for conflict with characters we could be invested in. vernestra doesn't want sol looking for osha? we'll compromise for a small team. osha lands on a snowy planet with no help or resources? dw, she's found immediately. sol believes his old padawan, but why should anyone else? we caught mae breaking in on olega; osha's cleared :) but will the crew turn on her when it looks like she killed torbin? yord's got that covered B) like. these are such fucking obvious opportunities. why is this show actively, immediately deflating any tension it manages to build? why is it being marketed as a thriller?? where are my thrills, leslye???

i rly think some of you are just rancid for no reason btw. like i just think if u look at a queer man LI who is a canonical victim of abuse - inc sexual abuse, and the story does not shy away from it & the ramifications of that - and a deep, rich, layered story about regaining autonomy and healing and personal liberty and trying to forgive yourself for all the horrible things that you did & were while you were abused (that you were a Real monster for) and all you have to say about it is "ugh another fucking white LI ofc you're all into him" like... idk. i dont think the problem is the fact that he's white. i think there's something wrong with YOU.
