Sometimes it feels so wholesome to see people express themselves so openly to the things they love so much. I saw my friend humming to the song in a jamming session and the way her eyes light up, the happiness in the little humming under her breath.... God the way I love watching people love, I don't think I can ever get over it.

Obscure Howie detail I noticed recently was that in S2 or 3, there's a scene where he pretends to be an asshole to cover for someone else. After hearing Kim go on an emotional explaination about why his decision* is wrong, Howie says "Duly noted." as a way to immediately shut it down. This whole play out is him imitating meanness (He revokes it not even a minute later).

Now skip to S6 when he tries to explain the shitty situation he's in to his wife and how he's trying to handle it, trying to reconnect with her emotionally at the same time, all she says in response is "Duly noted."

This has some interesting implications, does it not?

*It wasn't his decision, it was someone else's but he was taking the rap for it.

What would you do to make a fanfiction better? I get requests but sometimes I can't think of how to do the request do you think you can give me some evidence?

hi, hi! i'm in no way an expert on writing and kinda just wing it, but i do have ways to elevate my writing so i'll share those :3

i tend to focus on the little things. i like to describe touch, smells, someone's gaze, or subtle movements to build presence and atmosphere. choosing the right words can make a sentence all the more powerful. For an example -

"They looked at me playfully with a small smile." this sentence, using what i mentioned above, can be much more impactful despite it being an okay sentence. we can go from that to something more like this. "A gleam danced within their eyes and a corner of their lips carefully quirked up, their gaze lifted to meet mine." with the use of personification, i made it so their eyes embodied playfulness rather than explicitly saying so. overusing words like playfully, hesitantly, shyly, etc can be mind numbing to readers so implying those things with movements and other behaviors(or using both in a sentence like i did above) can help make the reading experience more gripping. also, try to not start every sentence with the same words! even if you're at a different character for a hc, starting their section the same way as you did for another character is something you should try to avoid. Beginning with the character's name rather than "They were..." is a good way to get around it if you find it difficult. (ex. "He was at the winery when you showed up." to "Diluc had been at the winery when you came by.")

when it comes to being stumped on requests and not quite knowing how to start, i'm like that almost everytime ':l sometimes letting it sit there helps, but there are other ways of getting your brain moving so you can write it when you want to! personally, if the request is more story driven, i try and brainstorm how it'll go and progress(such as my hanahaki kazuha request right now). figuring out how to have the chain of events occur can help with writing a few parts to the request and even let you skip around if you have an idea for a later area in the story. another thing you can do is just write it out simply. rather than having built-up sentences like i did at the beginning, you can just do sentences that are more simple so you can get the base of what you want down. also if the request isn't story driven and is more like silly little hcs, don't force yourself to make a connected story through the hcs - just make them bounce around to things you think the character(s) would do/react to whatever the requester asked for(be unhinged, be a silly little guy)!

on the occasion you don't have ideas for a request, asking a friend or a fellow writer to help you throw things around can help(or looking up inspo on the web of course). sometimes all you need is a little nudge :3

Okay, is the bot problem getting worse, or is it just me? Back when everyone else was complaining about porn bots, I got maybe ten over the entire course of the issue, and now all of the sudden I’m getting 2-3 bots following me a day. Granted, it’s not insane like other people are dealing with, and I can manage them easily, but it seems weird.

PERSONAL:

MORALITY  :    lawful / chaotic / good / neutral / evil / true    RELIGION  :    atheist... slavic paganism in applicable verses. SINS  :   greed / gluttony / sloth / lust / pride / envy / wrath  VIRTUES  :  chastity / charity / diligence / humility / kindness / patience / justice  KNOWN LANGUAGES  :    she is a polyglot originally and then after she consumes the dragon she gains access to more ancient languages through use of the dragon’s eye. ravkan/russian is her mother tongue and the language she is most fluent in. shu/mandarin/mongolian is her second language and she is essentially fluent. kerch/dutch/german she knows fairly well but she speaks it heavily accented and with a few gramatical errors. suli/romani/croatian/hindi she is conversational in  the following languages she knows due to the dragon’s eye: zemeni, ancient kaelish/proto-celtic,  fjerdan/similar to scandinavian languages/ ancient norse. SECRETS  :    her last name is a fairly glaring secret as well as her heritage and her life prior to arriving at the little palace. the dragon’s eye i suppose is a secret as well, while zoya’s dragon form becomes a ravkan symbol of strength her empathic abilities and the fact that she now is displaying skills that are not confined to only the summoning order is less known. 

PHYSICAL:

BUILD  :  scrawny / bony / slender / fit / athletic / curvy / herculean / pudgy / average    HEIGHT  :   167 cm  /  5′6 .  SCARS  /  BIRTHMARKS  :    most notable are tiger claw scars she has across her back/shoulder blades which she received after protecting tiger cubs on the border of fjerda at 12 years-old.  she has plenty of lichtenberg scars all over her hands that travel from her palms up to her forearms that she keeps adding to each time she summons lightning. along her chin she has a scrape mark from the church she toppled on her wedding day the first time she displayed grisha abilities. she has many many many more from all the wars and battles she has fought in but we truly would be here till the end of the week if i listed them all.  ABILITIES  /  POWERS   :    zoya is ridiculously over-powered i am not even going to pretend she is isn’t. transformation is her most notable ability she can change forms into a dragon and in that form she can summon storms, breathe lighting, and communicate telepathically with her allies. the dragon’s eye is zoya’s empathic ability that allows her to sense the emotions of those around her and even pick up on their memories if she knows the other party well enough. obviously she is a storm-summoner first and foremost with her lightning work being what she is known for... she can restart a heart which is incredibly difficult skill to master. as i said above she has display skills across the other grisha orders such a fabrikating and heartrending but she still is learning how to use this expanded skillset.  RESTRICTIONS  :    she is too emotional, too angry, and this can limit the focus she needs to perform her magic sufficiently. conversely her powers also don’t respond well when she chooses to shut herself off to any and all emotion as the source of her magic... quite literally is empathy. essentially it is imperative she strike an internal balance in order for her to unlock her full capabilities. 

FAVORITES:

FOOD  :    the real question is what will she NOT eat? she loves pickled herring, warm black-bread, blini with sour cream, but her favorite meal will always be dessert. she LOVES fruit tart especially raspberry.  DRINK  :    black tea or brandy.  PIZZA TOPPING  :    she is gross so i want to say anchovies.  COLOR  :    twilight blue,  soft periwinkle,   silver,   sapphire,   ivory  MUSIC GENRE  :    if we are talking in a modern context then the indie rock sad girl genre was made for her.  lucy dacus and phoebe bridg.ers... you will catch her screaming moon song. she probably enjoys russian folk music too for the nostalgia and how it reminds her of her aunt.  BOOK GENRE  :    she will tear up a romance novel as she mainly reads for escapism and when insomnia strikes so something light that doesn’t require a lot of time invested on her part is what is ideal for her. MOVIE GENRE  :    i don’t really think she would see films as something worth investing her time in really? but if she has to watch something i can see her enjoying historical dramas and again the romance genre as a whole. what can i say she loves love even if she doesn’t want to admit it.  CURSE WORD  :    when she is mad you will get a few swears out of her but she is usually more creative with her insults lol.  SCENTS  :    bergamot and wild flowers... ozone when she’s Pressed.
