ᡣ𐭩 a/n : i love this idea as someone who also has multiple languages under my belt
ʚ・mercedes
george russell
he finds it insanely attractive, but tries to play it cool
will absolutely ask you how to say "thank you for the support" in the local language before press conferences
once had you translate a fan letter word for word because he needed to understand what they wrote
drops little “how do you say…” questions mid-breakfast like it’s casual
lowkey brags about you in interviews — “my partner actually helped me with the pronunciation!”
kimi antonelli
silently impressed; won’t say much but you’ll catch the way he watches you when you switch between languages
100% asks you how to say “i love you” in every language you know and remembers them perfectly
gets bashful when fans ask him to say something in their language and he turns to you for help
always listens quietly when you teach him — then absolutely nails the accent and acts like it’s no big deal
“how do you say ‘you’re beautiful’ in… all of them?
ʚ・ferrari
charles leclerc
pretends he’s chill but is secretly obsessed with how effortlessly you jump from one language to another
will record you saying things so he can practice alone (you caught him once, he nearly died of embarrassment)
constantly goes, “can you say it again slower?” just to hear you speak
gets flustered if you translate something romantic in another language
always asks for help with fan signs — “babe, is this saying what i think it’s saying or did i just call myself a baguette?”
lewis hamilton
thinks it’s the coolest thing ever and hypes you up constantly
“she speaks like seven languages. literal queen energy.”
makes you do short videos helping him thank international fans in their own languages
gets super soft if you teach him phrases to connect with fans — like genuinely wants to get it right
tells people you’re his secret weapon for global communication
ʚ・mclaren
lando norris
teases you constantly but adores it
“what’s ‘lando is the best’ in finnish?”
will randomly blurt a phrase you taught him at completely the wrong moment just to make you laugh
gets a little clingy when fans flirt in other languages — “babe, what did he say?? be honest.”
100% starts asking for curse words first and then tries to get serious when he realizes how useful it is
oscar piastri
quietly fascinated — listens more than he asks, but his curiosity is endless
always goes to you before foreign gps: “hey, how do i greet fans in korean again?”
gets this little proud smile when you help him pronounce something perfectly
sometimes asks you to whisper things in other languages just because “it sounds cool”
lowkey has a note in his phone with all the phrases you’ve taught him and uses them strategically

🌅9th house & Energy🌅
Sun in 9th house- You travel a lot to places that inspire you. You’re not meant to stay still—geographically or spiritually. Travel isn’t just about seeing new places—it’s about becoming more of who you are. Each journey reflects a deeper truth about your identity. You find yourself on the road, in the unknown, under different skies. This Sun seeks a personal truth. Philosophy, law, and spiritual systems aren’t just subjects—they’re tools for understanding your place in the cosmos. There’s often a deep attraction to cultures, languages, and people different from you. These places mirror parts of yourself you didn’t know existed. Your identity expands each time you step outside your cultural comfort zone. You might even live abroad or have karmic ties to foreign lands. Meditation, astrology, mysticism, or sacred rituals may play a major role in how you connect with yourself. Breakthroughs often come through mystical or spiritual moments: dreams, visions, intuitive downloads. These experiences fuel your identity and help you realign when you're lost. They give your life depth and direction. You might be naturally psychic or have “knowings” that shape your decisions and growth. You’re drawn to partners who open your world—emotionally, intellectually, spiritually. You might even fall in love while traveling, studying abroad, or exploring something new.
Moon in 9th house - Travel touches you deeply. You're emotionally stirred by new places and cultures—you don't just visit places, you feelthem. Every journey can feel like a homecoming for the soul or a reflection of your inner world. You may feel called to study subjects that help explain the human experience—like psychology, theology, cultural studies, or spiritual traditions. You may feel emotionally at home in foreign places—sometimes more than in your native environment. Psychic or mystical experiences often bring emotional healing or guidance. Parenthood may be deeply spiritual or philosophical for you—you want to raise children with values and open-mindedness. In love, you seek someone who shares your beliefs or helps you explore emotional meaning. If the Moon is afflicted, emotional fluctuations or lack of rootedness might affect professional consistency. You may feel torn between career and the need for freedom or emotional alignment. If you become a parent, you may be emotionally invested in your children’s romantic choices. You could either nurture a very open-minded approach or feel conflicted if their path differs from your beliefs.
Mercury in 9th house- Mercury here loves to travel—especially to learn. You may be drawn to places with rich culture, deep philosophy, or languages to learn. You can teach other people. Mercury in this house often brings a mental connection to other countries. You may feel at ease speaking foreign languages, living abroad, or working internationally. Foreign cultures stimulate your mind, and your ideas often resonate globally. You might explore multiple spiritual paths—never blindly believing, always questioning, analyzing, absorbing. You need your beliefs to make sense, not just feel good. ou may receive guidance through symbols, synchronicities, or dreams, and then analyze and articulate what they mean. You can have a partner who speaks a different language than you. You can travel a lot and you can travel several times a year. You can gain a lot of inspiration in life from traveling. Your thoughts can be more peaceful when you travel (this relaxes your thoughts).
Venus in 9th house - Your wedding will probably be in a foreign country. You feel the romantic energy of different cultures, landscapes, and people. Love is often found abroad, or during travels, and the act of exploring brings deep emotional and sensory satisfaction. You may be drawn to study subjects that bring you into deeper connection with humanity—such as art, culture, spirituality, philosophy, or law. In a way, love itself can feel foreign, and the best relationships might come with an element of adventure or distance. You might express your love through spiritual teachings or find beauty in transcendent experiences. Venus here brings love and beauty to parenting. You may instill your children with values of compassion, beauty, and grace, and love to see them explore the world with wonder. You may have trouble aligning your career with your higher values, or you may feel stagnant if the work you do doesn’t feel beautiful or aligned with your soul’s purpose.
Mars in 9th house-There’s a restlessness in your soul that craves movement, physical challenges, and the adrenaline that comes with discovering new places.Your mind is active, and you approach studies with passion and drive, often wanting to be at the top in whatever field you choose. You’re not afraid to question authority or fight for what you believe in, especially if it aligns with your moral compass. You’re not afraid of diving headfirst into new cultures, and you may feel compelled to change things wherever you go—whether it’s through activism, teaching, or cultural exchange. You might want your children to be brave and adventurous, encouraging them to fight for their beliefs and pursue their passions. You may fall in love with someone who pushes your mental and physical boundaries, and you want a partner who shares your passionate approach to life. Because this house is also ruled by End of Life of Opposite-Sex Aunts/Uncles- Their death might push you to question your own philosophies and your approach to life’s challenges, prompting a period of action-oriented change in how you see the world. In ancient military astrology, it could indicate wars in distant lands or someone who travels to conquer or convert.
Jupiter in 9th house- it brings a blessing of expansive energy, adventure, wisdom, and growth. Jupiter is the planet of luck, expansion, higher learning, and spiritual growth. You’re likely to feel a deep sense of fulfillment when you journey to far-off lands, especially when those travels involve learning or connecting with new cultures. You may also be naturally inclined to make friends and mentors abroad. You may feel a deep need to study or teach these subjects throughout your life, and your path may lead to academic success or a career involving teaching or spiritual guidance. This placement often inspires a lifelong search for meaning and a desire to share wisdom with others. Your relationships are likely to be transformative, enlightening, and based on shared beliefs or a sense of adventure. End of Life of Opposite-Sex Aunts/Uncles- You may view their passing as a rite of passage that opens the door to new insights and understanding of life and death.
Saturn in 9th house- it’s about seeking something meaningful, whether it’s through work, learning, or personal growth. Travels may feel restricted or difficult at times, but they often bring profound life lessons. You may also have a fear of flying, foreign countries, unknown things. You may have problems believing in something in life, you may often lose meaning, hope. Spiritually, this is the placement of the pilgrim, the one who doesn’t find God or truth easily. You likely take your spiritual life seriously, dedicating time and energy to creating a solid foundation for your beliefs and practices. Throughout life, you can gain a lot of wisdom from older people. Your father can often be an inspiration for your will to live. At some point, you can also live apart from him. The loss of an opposite-sex aunt or uncle could bring a sense of duty or a reality check, sparking an introspective period of maturity and growth. In medieval astrology, Saturn in the 9th marked a person who gained wisdom late in life, through hardship or withdrawal from the world.
Uranus in 9th house-You’re the type to book a last-minute flight or find yourself on life-changing trips that weren’t planned. You’re not one to follow a conventional academic path. Uranus here makes you question systems—you might rebel against traditional education or invent your own unique way of learning. You might feel more at home abroad than where you were born. Uranus in the 9th can bring a strong attraction to foreign cultures, especially if they’re radically different from your own. Uranus may awaken psychic gifts suddenly, often in shocking or life-altering ways. Your psychic insights may come as flashes of intuition, prophetic dreams, or downloads during chaos or crisis. You may raise children with unconventional methods, encourage them to think independently, or have a child who transforms your worldview. Relationships may be unusual, free-spirited, and based on shared philosophical or spiritual views. Traditional love roles might not suit you.
Neptune in 9th house- this placement weaves fantasy, intuition, and idealism into the realms of philosophy, higher education, foreign lands, and spiritual expansion. You're drawn to places that hold mystery, sacredness, or beauty—and may even feel a past-life connection to certain lands. You're more likely to explore mysticism, metaphysics, poetry, astrology, or spiritual psychology. You might fall in love with faraway cultures. You may experience powerful visions, dreams, or awakenings. But beware of spiritual escapism—idealizing gurus, or getting lost in illusion. Your path is to trust your own soul’s compass. Spiritual gain for you comes from surrender, sensitivity, and connection to Source. You may be a natural healer, artist, or spiritual guide. You dream of soulmates. Love for you is spiritual, transcendent, even karmic. But beware of illusion or martyrdom—falling in love with potential, not reality.
Pluto in 9th house -often portends transformative travels. The individual may journey to foreign lands under intense or dramatic circumstances. Travel may change you at a soul level, leaving you forever altered. You may study forbidden texts, alchemy, or the mysteries of life and death. In classical astrology, this would be considered someone who might abandon the faith of their fathers to pursue an inner, darker truth. This placement denotes one who seeks depth over comfort. Pluto gives you an aura of mystic authority when speaking about deeper truths. You might feel like a lone wolf in your beliefs, but others can be magnetized by your depth. n some charts, Pluto here gives a ruthless hunger for justice—you may be drawn to uncover corruption in law, education, or religious institutions. You could be a reformer, a lawyer with a cause, or a whistleblower who reveals what others fear to confront. The soul yearns not for light, but for truth at any cost. Your spiritual path is not always peaceful—it is alchemical. Love may involve intense bonds, power dynamics, or karmic debts.
Chiron in 9th house-you may find that journeys to distant lands are marked by a sense of displacement, loss, or existential longing. In ancient terms, this could be the wandering philosopher, the one who never finds true belonging in any nation. Perhaps you once followed a path of faith or philosophy that betrayed or disappointed you. Foreign lands may present both healing and pain. You may feel like an outsider abroad, or experience trauma far from home. Yet, in these places, you may also find mentors, healers, or new philosophies that gently mend what was broken. You may have struggled to feel seen by the heavens. Yet over time, through suffering and humility, you become a teacher of wounded wisdom, often guiding others. Pleasure may be tinged with complexity here. As a parent, you may feel you cannot guide your children’s beliefs or journeys as you wished. Yet there is beauty here, too—a gentleness born from deep understanding, and a love that can hold others through your own trials. You may witness your child fall in love with someone from another world—culturally, spiritually, or geographically—and struggle to navigate these differences. These experiences may mirror the your own unhealed longings. Chiron in the 9th marks the wounded philosopher, the broken arrow of Apollo, ever searching for divine meaning in a fractured world. They teach not through perfection, but by their scars. Their pain becomes a lantern, lighting the way for those still lost in the dark.

Wait wait wait remember that post about how Team Starkid/the Lang brothers are going to be comparable to Shakespeare 500 years from now and it was mostly played for laughs like yeah lol you’ll need a paragraph of footnotes to explain the zefron poster but like
I don’t think that’s actually far off from how Starkid’s place in theatre history might play out and here’s why. Just hear me out
Why is Shakespeare so popular today when he definitely wasn’t the only playwright from that era? When he’s not even the only playwright from that era from England that we have surviving works from?
Two main reasons:
1) Shakespeare’s work is (relatively) universally relatable. The characters do things that are so fundamentally human. They make jokes at their friends’ expense. They complain about being awkward in front of their crush. They have daddy issues. The plot lines of the plays aren’t too complicated. The dick jokes land whether you’re watching in 1611 or 2024, and they probably still will in 2637. Shakespeare’s works are timeless because he didn’t try to outsmart his audience. He wrote about things everyone could relate to rather than trying too hard to peacock his intellect in front of the nobility. This is not true of every playwright.
2) Shakespeare was really popular right around the time England started colonizing everything in sight. Copies of his work got shipped all around the world, translated into dozens of languages, performed probably thousands of times. Setting aside the moral implications of this, the important thing to note is that Shakespeare was about the most easily accessible English playwright during a time of rapid, intense globalization.
Meanwhile, Starkid:
1) Invests hard in meaningful, relatable character arcs instead of spectacle and expensive sets or costumes. Also, lowbrow, immature humor and dick jokes that make A Very Potter Sequel funny and enjoyable regardless of if you’ve ever seen any other Harry Potter media in your life.
2) Posts professional recordings of their musicals to YouTube FOR FREE, making their shows about the easiest, best quality musical theatre you can get pretty much anywhere in the world, regardless of if your area has an active theatre scene. Proshots from other companies are rare and usually not free. Bootlegs are all well and good, but even if the video quality is alright (and that’s a big if) the audio is usually garbage. Starkid has been posting the best quality free recordings they can afford since 2009, shortly after the birth of social media, another time of rapid, intense globalization.
In short, I’m not saying that theatre historians in 500 years won’t remember any our current Broadway faves, but I am saying that in my opinion, Team Starkid is probably going to be more accessible for the general public. If you’re a 26th century English teacher trying to teach your class about narrative structure in 21st century theatre, what are you going to show your students? A bootleg of Hadestown with blurry video and garbage audio? Or the professional recording of Twisted, parts of which they will probably even enjoy, because even long after no one remembers Disney’s Aladdin anymore, your class of 26th century 16-year-olds are still going to laugh at “No One Remembers Achmed.”
#oof i really wrote an essay about this#like feel free to disagree this is just my opinion#team starkid#starkid#musical theatre#theatre#twisted#a very potter musical#a very potter sequel#a very potter senior year#holy musical b@man#trail to oregon#the guy who didn't like musicals#black friday#nerdy prudes must die

Types of Black People to Avoid From a Garveyite Perspective
Marcus Garvey’s teachings emphasize Pan-Africanism, self-reliance, and pride in African heritage. From his perspective, certain mindsets and behaviours among Black people hinder the collective progress of the race. This post outlines the types of individuals Garvey warned against and why their actions conflict with his philosophy.
1. The Self-Hating Negro
Those who lack pride in their African identity or seek to align with oppressive systems instead of embracing their heritage.
2. The Betrayer or Opportunist
People who align with colonial or imperial powers for personal gain, selling out their community in the process.
3. The Idle and Unproductive
Garvey emphasized hard work and self-reliance. Those who perpetuate laziness or refuse to contribute to the community weaken.
4. The Divisive
Individuals who sow discord or prioritize personal grievances over unity.
5. The Apologist for Oppression
Those who excuse or justify racism, colonialism, or exploitation instead of resisting it.
6. The Lackey or "House Negro"
People who serve as tools of oppression within the Black community, often working to uphold systems of exploitation.
7. The Disconnected
Those who neglect the struggles of their brothers and sisters across the African diaspora.
8. The Cynic or Defeatist
Individuals who spread hopelessness and believe liberation is impossible, stifling collective progress.
9. The Assimilationist
Those who reject African culture to assimilate into white-dominated societies, often seeking validation from oppressors.
10. The Colonial-Minded Intellectual
Educated individuals who use their knowledge to support colonial ideologies rather than fight for Black liberation.
11. The Non-Believer in Black Institutions
People who doubt the ability of Black people to build and sustain their own schools, businesses, and organizations.
12. The Religious Misleader
Religious figures who preach passivity and submission rather than encouraging active resistance and empowerment.
13. The Consumer Over Creator
Those who consume from exploitative systems but fail to support Black-owned businesses or initiatives.
14. The Envy-Driven
Individuals who sabotage others out of jealousy rather than celebrate their success as a win for the community.
15. The Perpetual Victim
Garvey believed in resilience and empowerment, not adopting a victim mindset that leads to inaction.
16. The Uninformed or Ignorant
People who refuse to educate themselves on African history, culture, or the realities of systemic oppression.
17. The Political Sellout
Politicians or leaders who prioritize personal power over the well-being of their people.
18. The Violent Toward Their Own
Garvey emphasized unity. Those who harm or exploit their own people weaken the community.
19. The Materialistic
Individuals who prioritize wealth and status over collective liberation.
20. The Fearful or Complacent
Those who fear challenging systems of oppression or accept the status quo.
21. The "Divide and Conquer" Advocate
People who promote tribalism, colourism, or internal divisions that undermine unity.
22. The Global Isolationist
Garvey believed in global solidarity. Ignoring the struggles of Africans worldwide weakens the movement.
23. The Culturally Oblivious
Individuals who neglect the preservation of African culture, language, and traditions.
24. The Misguided Activist
Those who harm liberation movements through counterproductive or extreme methods.
25. The Short-Term Thinker
People who focus on immediate gains without considering the long-term impact on future generations.
26. The Hypercritical Without Action
Critics who offer no solutions or refuse to contribute to progress.
27. The Neglectful Parent
Parents who fail to instill pride, education, and self-reliance in their children.
28. The Exploiter or Disrespecter of Black Women
Garvey emphasized the importance of both men and women in building a strong and self-reliant community. Those who exploit or disrespect Black women cause deep harm to the entire movement.
29. The Perpetrator and Promoter of Negative Stereotypes of Black Men and Women
Those who perpetuate negative stereotypes harm the collective image and self-esteem of Black people.
Examples of Harmful Stereotypes:
Stereotypes About Black Men: Promoting images of Black men as inherently violent, hypersexual, lazy, or criminal. These narratives contribute to societal discrimination and the dehumanization of Black men.
Stereotypes About Black Women: Reinforcing depictions of Black women as angry, overbearing, promiscuous, or unworthy of respect. These stereotypes undermine the dignity of Black women and lead to real-world harm.
Why This Conflicts with Garveyism:
Garvey called for the upliftment of the entire race, which includes challenging racist caricatures and media portrayals. Promoting stereotypes reinforces systemic oppression, fosters self-hatred, and fractures community unity.
"We must canonize our own heroes, create our own martyrs, and glorify our own symbols," Garvey said, urging Black people to celebrate their greatness instead of internalizing harmful narratives.
30. The Doubter of Pan-Africanism
Rejecting the idea of a unified global African identity weakens collective strength.
31. The Glorifier of Interracial Relationships Over Their Own Race
Individuals who prioritize dating outside their race, often due to internalized racism or disdain for their own community, undermine racial solidarity and family structures.
32. The Denier of African Heritage
Those who reject their African roots or refuse to identify as part of the African diaspora, fostering division and rejecting the foundation of Pan-Africanism.
33. The Disrespecter of Black Men and Boys
Individuals who belittle, demean, or fail to support Black men and boys contribute to the weakening of the community.
34. The Uninformed or Ignorant
Garvey strongly believed in education and the power of knowledge. Black people who remain ignorant about their history, culture, and the systems that oppress them harm the movement.
Why This Conflicts with Garveyism:
Ignorance weakens collective strength by promoting misunderstanding, inaction, and misplaced priorities. Education is a tool for liberation, and those who refuse to seek knowledge risk falling prey to manipulation and exploitation.
35. The Believer in Pseudo Subjects and History
Garvey valued accurate knowledge and warned against false ideologies or distorted versions of history.
Examples of Pseudo Subjects:
False Histories: Believing in fabricated or distorted versions of African history that lack historical evidence.
Pseudo-Sciences: Embracing unscientific or baseless theories about health, biology, or spirituality.
Why This Conflicts with Garveyism:
Pseudo subjects distract from the real work of liberation, confuse the community, and undermine credibility. Garvey’s philosophy calls for rooting oneself in truth and using knowledge as a foundation for empowerment
In Garvey's Words:
"A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin, and culture is like a tree without roots."
Garvey’s philosophy urges us to avoid behaviors and attitudes that undermine the pride, unity, and collective progress of Black people globally. Embracing our heritage, building strong communities, and fostering solidarity across the diaspora are key to liberation.

★ aries in the 9th house ★
majors tied to action, leadership, and bold thinking—aries energy thrives in fields that require initiative and innovation. think degrees in law (debate, litigation), sports science (coaching, performance training), or military science (strategy, defense). you might also pursue something competitive like entrepreneurship or pre-med, where you’re constantly challenged to stay ahead. aries’ restless energy makes hands-on, fast-paced majors appealing, so engineering or mechanics could also fit. their love of adventure means international relations or global studies might appeal, especially if you want to explore different cultures or engage in diplomatic work. creative fields like film production or performing arts (theater, dance) might call to you, as aries loves self-expression and commanding attention. expect a major that keeps you moving and doesn’t confine you to routine; aries doesn’t do well in stagnant or overly theoretical environments. you might also gravitate toward activism-based studies, like political science or criminal justice, where you can champion causes and fight for change. your education could take unexpected turns, as aries energy often thrives in challenges and chaos—possibly leading you to switch majors mid-way when something more exciting catches your attention.
★ taurus in the 9th house ★
majors rooted in stability, beauty, and value-driven work. taurus energy is practical yet artistic, so degrees in interior design, architecture, or fine arts (sculpture, painting) align well with their aesthetic sensibilities. you might also find satisfaction in agricultural sciences or environmental studies, connecting with the earth and sustainable practices. taurus’ practical mindset leans toward finance, economics, or business—majors that ensure long-term security and tangible rewards. culinary arts or nutrition could appeal, especially if you enjoy creating or nurturing through food. degrees in real estate or hospitality management might align with taurus’ love of comfort and luxury, allowing you to curate beautiful spaces or experiences for others. taurus in the 9th craves knowledge they can use practically, so hands-on fields with clear career paths are key. psychology or social work might also resonate, especially if you’re drawn to steady, nurturing roles that help others build better lives. you could lean toward something like cultural studies or anthropology if there’s a focus on the sensory aspects of different traditions (food, art, craftsmanship). whatever you choose, it’ll likely be a slow, deliberate decision, as taurus takes their time to find what truly aligns with their values.
★ gemini in the 9th house ★
majors focused on communication, ideas, and variety—gemini thrives in fields that stimulate the mind and offer flexibility. journalism, creative writing, or media studies are strong fits, as gemini excels in storytelling and connecting with others. degrees in education (teaching, curriculum development) might appeal, especially if you’re drawn to sharing knowledge in dynamic environments. gemini’s curiosity could also pull you toward marketing, public relations, or advertising—majors that let you craft messages and explore trends. linguistics, foreign languages, or international studies might resonate, allowing you to learn and communicate across cultures. gemini’s love of tech and information could lead to fields like computer science, digital media, or data analysis. their versatility means you might combine seemingly unrelated interests, like a double major in psychology and graphic design or sociology and creative writing. gemini doesn’t thrive in rigid or overly specialized fields; they need variety, collaboration, and intellectual stimulation. philosophy or political science could also align, especially if you enjoy debating and exploring complex ideas. gemini in the 9th house often means your education will involve constant learning and adapting—expect internships, networking, and possibly changing majors to keep things fresh.
★ cancer in the 9th house ★

Peaceful Property went ahead and picked one of my special interests to explore this week. For queer history nerds like me, some of the most prominent questions in the field are whether and how to connect to those in the past who did not have the same conditions and language for queerness as we do in the present.* Forcebook gave us two characters, Phoom and Vicha, who failed to name or live their queer feelings in the past. Instead, they had queer gestures to offer across time. What do these queer gestures and failures offer to the main conflict between Peach and Home, and what do they offer to us as an audience debating whether Peaceful Property is a BL or queer-baiting?
That ghost story spanned and blurred time into a time immemorial. Using the venue of Thai traditional dancing gave the story a sense of deep Thai history and traditions that are kept up to the present, while Phoom's home indicated early twentieth century Western influences, and a television (alongside Phoom's age in the modern-day setting) suggested the beginning of the global information age of the 80s or 90s. Then Force and Book, finally getting the opportunity to show their true acting capacities (let Force be as queer, emotive, and silly as he is in his interviews, GMMTV!!!), took us on a heart-shattering journey that blended those eras together.
In front of the TV, Vicha teaches Phoom the gesture for love before they kiss. It's not a pronouncement, and no one's recording. It's just a movement between two men tucked away in a private place. Vicha records later, but he doesn't put it into words. He carves tallies into a tree waiting for Phoom to return. Then Phoom does, but he's so cold toward Vicha that the latter can't even bear to look as Phoom tries to explain his sadness through dance. Phoom's mother is looking on as Phoom repeats the the move to signify "saddened," in the face of the instructor's demands for "happy."
The dance is interspersed with scenes of Phoom's mother berating him for being "gay"--she uses the English word! and as @absolutebl explains that's important!--across a locked palatial door as Phoom collapses in tears. Edit: @lurkingteapot giving me the Thai language lesson in the notes to explain, “Phoom's mother does not use the English word for gay. she says มีลูกผิดเพศอย่างแก mii lûuk pìt pêet yâang gɛɛ, where the gɛɛ is a familiar term for "you" -- "to have a child who gets gender wrong, like you!" ("gets gender wrong" as in, directs affections/attraction at the wrong gender).”
With just one chance to return to the dance studio that she believes to be the cause of his queerness, all Phoom can do is subtly cue Vicha about his queer experiences through dance. Jose Esteban Munoz says in Cruising Utopia: The Then and There of Queer Futurity,
"Queer dance is hard to catch, and it is meant to be hard to catch--it is supposed to slip through the fingers and comprehension of those who would use knowledge against us. But it matters and takes on a vast material weight for those of us who perform or draw important sustenance from performance. Rather than dematerialize, dance rematerializes. Dance, like energy, never disappears; it is simply transformed. Queer dance, after the live act, does not just expire. The ephemeral does not equal unmateriality. It is more nearly about another understanding of what matters. It matters to get lost in dance or to use dance to get lost: lost from the evidentiary logic of heterosexuality.
Phoom's mom, the representative of compulsory heterosexuality, watches on, but she either can't see the coded evidence, or she recognizes its ephemerality and bears it knowing its lack of impact. Even then, she ends Phoom's dance before Vicha can look up and see the queerness that might affirm his own queer feelings. Phoom fails to live as a representative of queerness, unable to resist the pressures of heterosexuality.
With Phoom locked away, Vicha can't bear the loneliness. Queer suicidality has been haunting Peaceful Properties since the first episode, and the reason Peach keeps his blinds closed in his apartment returned this episode if we didn't recall. But we've had other subtle references, too. Vicha's death, though, was visceral and vivid as he slit his wrists with the same tool he used to count down the days until the return of the person who could affirm his queer feelings. Then, he documented his feeling in poetry with blood. While, Phoom failed to materialize his queerness for others, Vicha could only materialize his queerness through tragedy.
Much of queer history and fiction has focused on these tragic queer figures. In fact, they've been quite productive political tools for advancing queer goals. In the past ten years or so, the culture has turned on tragic queer figures and their narratives, though. Emotionally, I feel like that's for the better, but there's a fine line I'm always attentive to between welcoming empowering histories and turning our backs on those who don't or can't achieve them. It's also a fine line between welcoming ensured happy endings for queer characters and refusing to engage with those creators past and present who use other narrative tools to explore queer themes.
Relatedly, using a branded pairing for Peaceful Property while not advertising it as a BL, nor committing to that status even by episode 7, seems intentionally designed to invite the conversations about whether its queer-baiting or a BL. It feels so old-school to engage in the kind of queer subtext reading that much of the fandom is doing currently. Sure, people do fantastically detailed metas about body language, color theory, and everything else you can think of for BL series. When queerness is not a given, however, the analysis of queer subtext serves the purpose of liberating the characters and the text from the binds and blinds of an otherwise heterosexual context.
There's a generosity in that work. It certainly can't erase the failures to fully live-out one's queerness, nor the problems and behavior that suffering and suppression can lead one to commit. However, sometimes you absolve people out of empathy rather than anything they do to make-up for their harm and futility. Sometimes people are transformed by that initial love, mercy, or understanding, whatever you want to call it, like the ghosts in the series finally being seen. The basic tenets of humanism, a philosophy so disruptive to the rigid class structures the show's simultaneously exploring, and Buddhism, the Thai beliefs which the show's been explicitly exorcising the ghosts with, depend on understanding people at that level, beneath the trappings of social status, symbols of wealth, and even language.
Peaceful Property has taken us on the journey for Home and Peach to understand each other at this level. They, like the audience, have been looking beneath the cloaks of class and patriarchal defensiveness that separate them for the meaningful ephemeral queer gestures that can offer them release from the endless cycles of grief and guilt they're stuck in. That the series keeps finding ways to find peace for these ghosts suggests that the we'll also find peace and love from the alienation haunting Peach and Home. They just need each other to perform that exorcism on their hearts.
*Thailand, specifically, is unique site for queer historians and anthropologists--like director P'Jojo!--because of this question. Its one of the few places that maintained a non-binary gender system into the present, whereas many others were suppressed by Christian colonial law or influence.
#peaceful property#this show is now entering into the range of my fav tv shows of all time#taynew#forcebook#homepeach#peaceful property the series#meta#queer history

Matt Bowman says that the LDS Church is sometimes critiqued for its conformity, but he thinks there are different ways of understanding the faith, different emphases and different visions of what the church might be. And these will be seen at General Conference.
Matt doesn't think that these various visions of what the church might be are mutually exclusive, and he thinks the leaders he names as the most emblematic of each vision of what the church can be would say that actually they’d identify with two or three or all of the categories.
By thinking about the influence of these leaders and these different approaches, perhaps we also can get a glimpse of where the LDS Church might move in the future.
The Church of Effort
President Russell M. Nelson’s sermons consistently have emphasized effort, trying harder, doing better, “thinking celestial.” His most controversial sermon links divine blessings to human behavior and argues that the fulness of those blessings derives from doing what's right. It's an appeal to reach our divine potential through proper belief and right behavior. Of course, it also presumes that humans can, theoretically, always choose to do right.
The Church of Natural Law
The idea behind natural law is that God created a universe which functions through knowable principles that could be learned by scientific investigation as well as divine revelation. That investigation would reveal a natural order of things built into the fabric of the world itself. As humans learn that order, they can conform to it and be happy.
Dallin H. Oaks, first counselor in the church’s governing First Presidency, has a reputation as perhaps the most consistent defender of “The Family: A Proclamation to the World” among the current general authorities. That document is steeped in the language of natural law. It does not merely state that God prefers human families to function in a certain way; it argues that, in fact, the universe is set up such that families who function in that way will thrive while those who do not will struggle.
For Oaks, a lawyer by training, these sorts of arguments, with their if-then constructions, their neat definition of terms, and their rational procession, are irresistible. He speaks of principles and rules, the comprehensible structure of a universe that functions according to clear law.
“To understand the teachings and examples of our Savior, we must understand the nature of God’s love and the eternal purpose of his laws and commandments,” Oaks teaches. “One does not replace or diminish the other.”
The Church of Grace
The idea here is that divine grace is not something earned but rather a gift that can bridge the gaps of human frailty and heal human weakness. President Emily Belle Freeman, head of the global Young Women organization, is the Latter-day Saint leader most fluent in this dialect. Her career before becoming a church officer was built on interfaith dialogue with evangelicals, and her writing and teachings are drenched with evangelical idioms — not merely in content but also in style. She calls for a personal relationship with Christ that provides healing, advances spiritual power and comes in great abundance. She speaks the language of dramatic intensity characteristic of Protestant evangelicals but increasingly appealing to Latter-day Saints who turn to their faith for aid in overcoming challenges.
“In that place where you feel bound, plead for his grace. Trust that it is available in abundance,” Freeman teaches. “Jesus Christ sees you. He can help you overcome.”
The Church of Community
This is a vision of the church that emphasizes its communal aspects. To be a member is, in part, to take the sacramental bread and water on Sundays, but most of all to look after each other by contributing labor and resources to the well-being of the community, such as visiting people in the hospital or those who are lonely.
The titles of three of apostle Gerrit W. Gong’s recent conference addresses share a similar focus on the church as a community of mutual care. In April 2021, he spoke on “Room in the Inn,” analogizing the church to the inns of the New Testament. There he asked members to “make [the Lord’s] inn a place of grace and space, where each can gather, with room for all.” In October 2023, he elaborated on the lyrics to the hymn “Love Is Spoken Here,” describing the ideal ward as a place where love is evident through service. That April, in a talk called “Ministering,” he stated “think of your ward or branch as a spiritual ecosystem.” For Gong, the church is a series of bound covenant relationships among humans as much as between humans and God. He emphasizes the social aspects of religious life, seeing salvation coming through bonds with one another.

KOSA is soon to be voted on in senate. Here's why you should oppose it.
Through KOSA, the government will be able to control of topics they oppose on the internet under the guise of protecting children from disturbing/inappropriate content. This isn't just limited to most websites requiring age verification and/or parental controls, but the FTC can also demand websites to straight up remove content it deems inappropriate
And even though it's taken up the lion's share of noise, this won't just be limited to queer topics and reproductive subjects, but literally anything the current ruling party opposes.
Think about the multitudes of things that the modern republican party takes umbrage with that have nothing to do with queerness or abortion, or even the bipartisan response to current social movements: Criticizing Christianity, criticizing Christian teachings in public schools, sharing footage of and/or criticizing war crimes and atrocities committed by the US military or its allies (like Israel), teaching about the US' involvement in the Atlantic slave trade, the civil war, the struggles of black people in the Jim Crow era, the genocide and forced migration of the Native Americans, global warming and climate change, or even discussion on how capitalism has negatively impacted our lives broadly.
All of these subjects can be deemed as inappropriate for minors due to their violent, heavy, and/or contentious subject matter. As such, they can be outright censored through KOSA's "duty of care" under the justification of these subject feeding into mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression.
And I'm not being hyperbolic in my language here, because this exact line of logic has already been used to enact book bans, abortion bans, and gender affirming care bans at the state level and was also the basis for the push to ban "Critical race theory" from universities. The US government will use this bill to censor the internet, and if the republican party wins the presidency this November and they re-categorize the FTC to being a schedule F commission (As outlined in Project 2025), it'll be done under completely partisan motivations. DO NOT let the rhetoric of "protecting children" blind you to the true implications of this bill. If you care about free speech in this country, you should be firmly against it. EDIT: I initially assumed the bill had passed in the senate, but, as it was brought to my attention, the senate has thankfully only moved to cloture the initial debate on the bill. The bill still has yet to be voted on in the senate, but they're going to call a vote in the near future. And it'll also have to go through the house as well. In the meantime, you can still find and contact your senator through this website here: https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm As well as your local representative through this website here: https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative

when u look at nonverbal nonspeaking people diagnose with severe/profound intellectual disability you see roughly 2 group people:
1. people who it misdiagnosis because severe global apraxia motor issues make it impossible/near impossible mouth speak (at all or reliably). n difficulty control movement from that mean usual method of teach usual AAC not meet needs, make usual neuropsych etc assessment results unreliable because so much of it depend on reliable motor control, n unreliable movements often fit people assumption about what ID look like. but ultimately it not a intellectual/cognitive problem (many of them typical or high intelligence), it a global motor problem n it a speech problem (which for them is motor problem) not language problem.
2. people whose severe profound ID correct diagnosis & they nonverbal minimally verbal because language problem (n possibly speak motor problem but you need language first before think about mouth speak) because cognitive intellectual problem.
both group definitely exist. have seen people say group 1 not exist they all fake or faked by hopeful caregivers n clinicians, only group 2 exist. have also seen people say group 2 not exist, what you think of group 2 is all actually group 1 all of them. n both of them wrong
but base on how group 1 talk about how entire life they been assumed be group 2, both look similar enough under how developmental disabilities currently be understand n treated by professionals
2 group have some distinct n contradictory needs. group 1 want inclusion programs not segregated programs want same hardness education as nondisabled peers want be talked to n treated as same as cognitively able peers bc they cognitively abled, not 1+1 drills or “how cook” at school because assumed not able understand academics. they want communication methods that actually work with body with motor.
but if give same thing to group 2 it unhelpful at best n harmful/more frustrating n so cause more “challenging behaviors” - be taught things they will never understand because that what severe profound ID means, n be constantly surround by complicated thing dont understand n expect to do complicated thing dont understand is frustrating n they no way communicate that other than behaviorally. they often medically complex in way only have limited amount time n energy n brain slots to learn so it better teach them stuff that they may actually realistically use, like very basic daily life skills. communication support for them look like language development support n maybe communicate basic wants n needs via picture cards, n some them may never progress beyond answer basic question like what want eat with 1 maybe 2 picture cards, not to mention long phrases grammar sentences. some may not understand high tech AAC well enough to use. it not judgement it just realistic life for many.
n if give those to group 1 people, which many group 1 people got, my god it endlessly frustrating too
but. don’t know how tell apart group 1 from 2 beyond group 1 people say they group 1 (which, many group 1 people at parts of life not able do that bc motor). motor tests depend on cognitive intellectual understanding instructions, n cognitive intellectual testing depend on motor. “listen” n “presume competence” all true but idk how give what each group need without accident put them in other group n so give them “support” they not need. am not going be single person solve this but all scenario come up in head feel always there at least one reason fail. always fear that.

I'm not Jewish, but you'd have to be genuinely stupid not to understand why protecting Israel (and Jews at large) is crucial for maintaining Western global dominance. You and your Jew-hating friends are doing great favors for the Arabs, Russians, Indians, and Chinese. Not to mention the up-and-coming economic powerhouses that are some of the Islamic African states that would likely support a Palestinian state, countries like Niger and Sudan. You claim to be an American conservative???
You and your Jew-hating friends are retarded for letting 4chan brainrot seep so deeply into your brain that you forgot how US dominance came about in the first place. News flash: liberals (even JEWISH liberals! :0) are your friends, maybe stupid friends, but friends nonetheless. The more you treat them like enemies, the more right-wingers are galvanized against our Israeli brothers and sisters, all the more impossible it will be to keep together the Western-led world order that, no doubt, has benefited from the existence of Israel in the world's most crucial region for control of petroleum.
Like, fine, if you really want to, go ahead and be braindead and keep parroting the same antisemitic shit that's been said for decades, centuries. Notice how nothing changes. Buddy, I can guarantee you and your friends have zero understanding of just how inherently Jewish modern Christian culture is. You want to destroy the Jews because..... ? Because some shitty image on 4chan convinced you they ruled the world??
Last two things. First, I can't imagine being such a fearful little piece of shit that I don't recognize that America runs this planet and America gave the Jews every drop of legitimacy that they have today. If it weren't for Americans, Jews would have been annihilated. If it weren't for Americans, Israel would have been destroyed decades ago. It is American foreign policy, and for the benefit of American capitalists, that the State of Israel is upheld. If you can't see that, then you're really just a kid LARPing as a "Kantian."
And if you call yourself a Christian, then I do apologize for using such rude language. I encourage you to approach the teachings of Jesus in their Quaker expression, which, in my opinion, is the true way of Christianity. Maybe it would make you less racist and stupid and open your eyes (and your heart) so you can make/reblog better posts that don't make me want to move to Austria or Finland 'cause I can't believe the new generation of conservatives here are that broken.
I went on anon because I did not want a horde of spasming retards clogging my DMs. I'd be happy to argue if you want. Ok bye.
I want you to think about the disparity between the effort this probably took you to write and the effort it took me to read. All you seem to be saying is "Israel is good for globo-homo so if you care about that you should love Jews."
>the teachings of Jesus in their Quaker expression is the "true" way of Christianity
lmao opinion discarded

The Trouble With Power: Sabrina Carpenter
Let me begin with a confession: I was charmed by Espresso. The flirtation, the boldness, the winking lines that toed the edge between self-possession and seduction: Sabrina Carpenter was in her pop star bag, and I was rooting for her.
Espresso was sticky with self-awareness. Fun without being frivolous. A femme-pop high that made space for cheeky sexuality without leaning on the predictable scaffolding of male fantasy.
It was clever.
She was clever.
But now, watching the rollout of her Man’s Best Friend era, I find myself pausing.
The kind of pause that catches in your throat.
The kind that says: "I hope this isn’t what it looks like."
‘Manchild’ and the Fantasy of the Dangerous Road
Let’s talk about the Manchild music video.
It opens with Sabrina hitchhiking in a pair of platform heels and cutoff denim shorts, somewhere in the sun-bleached desert. It’s a familiar pop trope: think Lana, Britney, Madonna, but one with deeply uncomfortable roots.
This isn’t just a fantasy of freedom.
It’s one of exposure. Of danger. Of woman-as-bait.
Hitchhiking is not a neutral image for women. It carries with it decades of danger narratives: from true crime stories to horror films to cautionary tales whispered between girls. The woman on the side of the road isn’t empowered, she’s vulnerable.
Yes, Sabrina flips the script in the final act of the video, turning the camera around on the men who pick her up. But does a bloody reversal erase what’s been stylised in the first place? Or does it re-perform it?
That’s the trouble: when you borrow the language of trauma to be edgy, and then don’t interrogate it, you risk reinforcing the very harm you say you’re undoing.
Man’s Best Friend and the Aesthetic of Submission
Then there’s the album cover.
Carpenter, on all fours. A man, faceless, anonymous, clutching her hair. The title: Man’s Best Friend.
It’s striking. But not in the way Espresso was. That was empowerment through wit. This feels like submission without satire.
Kink aesthetics have a place in the art world. There’s nothing inherently wrong with invoking power play. But the missing ingredient here is framing. Where’s the context? The metaphor? The invitation to look deeper?
Without it, this isn’t performance: it’s posturing.
And when the line between critique and replication is this thin, we have to ask:
Who is this for?
Pop Stardom, the Gaze, and What We Pass Down
Sabrina Carpenter is no longer an emerging artist. She’s the pop girl of the moment. Millions of young fans watch her every move, not just what she sings, but how she frames womanhood, agency, and sexuality.
That kind of visibility is power. And with power comes responsibility: not to sanitise or censor, but to consider the impact of the art we present on a global stage.
Because when you’re being watched by the next generation, your visuals don’t live in a vacuum. They echo. They teach. They land.
So What Are We Reclaiming, Exactly?
We talk a lot about “reclaiming” imagery: owning the gaze, choosing objectification as power. But if the image we’re reclaiming is still a woman on all fours with a man above her… what are we actually taking back?
Because if the answer is “everyone gets it,” but the execution is indistinguishable from patriarchy’s greatest hits: then we’re not reclaiming.
We’re reselling.
And at that point, are we even subverting?
Or are we just packaging old power in new glitter?
A Raised Eyebrow
Let me be clear: this is not a cancellation. This is a raised eyebrow.
A quiet “Are we sure?”
I’m not here to label Sabrina Carpenter as anti-feminist, nor demand that every pop star become an activist. What I’m asking is: if we’re going to play with fire, can we at least explain what we’re burning down?
Because if this is satire…let us in.
If it’s critique… frame it.
If it’s empowerment… tell us who is empowered.
Right now, it’s not clear. And in the silence, it’s easy for the male gaze to take over again.
This is not about outrage.
It’s about care.
If I didn’t respect Sabrina as a writer and performer, I wouldn’t be asking these questions. But I do. Which is why I am.
If this era is an experiment, then let’s ask: what are we testing? And who are we making space for in the results?

Generational Trauma Left Unaddressed or Normalized: A Garveyite Perspective
Generational trauma is a persistent wound carried by the African diaspora—a trauma that has been left unaddressed, normalized, and passed down through centuries. From the scars of slavery and colonialism to the systemic oppression we see today, these traumas continue to shape Black communities worldwide. But what happens when trauma is not only ignored but becomes a part of our daily lives?
From a Garveyite perspective, the answer lies in self-determination, Pan-African unity, and economic empowerment. Marcus Garvey’s philosophy provides both a critique of generational trauma and a solution for breaking the cycle.
1. The Origins of Generational Trauma
Slavery and Colonialism: The Foundation of Oppression
The African diaspora was built on the forced removal of Africans from their homeland, the erasure of their culture, and centuries of systemic dehumanization. These experiences left deep psychological, social, and economic scars:
Displacement & Identity Loss: Stripping African people of their languages, traditions, and names created a generational disconnect from their true heritage.
Psychological Degradation: Centuries of forced subjugation led to internalized inferiority complexes.
Economic Enslavement: The denial of wealth-building opportunities reinforced cycles of poverty and economic dependence.
How Trauma is Passed Down
Generational trauma doesn’t just disappear—it is inherited. It manifests in:
Fear and Survivalism: Parents unknowingly pass down the survival strategies developed during oppression.
Cultural Disconnection: A lack of knowledge about African history and heritage leads to internalized self-hatred.
Economic Hardship: Systemic barriers (e.g., redlining, mass incarceration, education inequities) reinforce generational struggles.
2. The Normalization of Trauma in Black Communities
When oppression becomes routine, trauma is no longer recognized—it is accepted. Garveyism challenges this normalization, calling for Black people to wake up and reclaim their dignity.
Signs of Normalized Trauma
Colourism & Self-Hatred: The colonial obsession with whiteness led to generations of Black people being conditioned to prefer European beauty standards.
Community Distrust: Systemic oppression created deep divisions within Black communities, fostering competition instead of unity.
Economic Dependency: Many Black communities have been taught to depend on external institutions instead of building self-sufficient economies.
How Institutions Maintain the Cycle
Education: Schools reinforce Eurocentric histories while minimizing African achievements.
Religion: Christianity and other religious institutions have often been used to pacify rather than empower.
Legal Systems: Mass incarceration and policing disproportionately target Black communities, reinforcing trauma.
3. The Garveyite Solution: Reversing Generational Trauma
Marcus Garvey believed that mental liberation precedes physical liberation. Breaking the cycle requires:
1. Mental Reprogramming: Rejecting Internalized Oppression
Reclaiming African Identity: Teaching real Black history and embracing African traditions.
Celebrating Black Excellence: Uplifting achievements that counter colonial narratives.
Healing from Colonial Trauma: Rebuilding self-worth and rejecting inferiority conditioning.
2. Economic Self-Sufficiency: Building Wealth & Power
Garvey’s Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) championed economic independence through:
Business Ownership: Black entrepreneurship as a means of liberation.
Cooperative Economics: Community-driven wealth circulation.
Land Ownership: Agricultural and industrial development for sustainability.
3. Pan-African Unity: Strength Through Global Connection
Garveyism teaches that Black people worldwide must unite to reclaim power. This means:
Cultural Reconnection: Restoring the bond between Africa and its diaspora.
Global Economic Networks: Strengthening Black-owned businesses and trade.
Ending Internal Division: Unifying around a shared vision of liberation.
Final Thoughts: Breaking the Cycle is Our Responsibility
Generational trauma is not just history—it is an ongoing reality. But trauma does not define us. Garveyism teaches that we are the masters of our destiny. The path to liberation requires rejecting the psychological chains of oppression, rebuilding economic independence, and uniting as a global force.
If we fail to address generational trauma, we allow it to continue. But if we reclaim our power, we break the cycle for future generations.
Rise up. Reclaim. Rebuild.
