The current one is a remake. I don't dislike the old one, I just thought I could make it better and I'd say I succeeded. If you like the old one better I don't mind, the fact that you like my art in the first place is already something I appreciate :)

i hope it’s obvious that fumihoto’s meant to be a tanooki. i fear my style of doing lines everywhere has a weakness and that is that details i want to emphasize are lost in the sketchiness, like hair color patterning… :(

i’ll keep working on it— one day i’ll be confident in line weight. until then—

i’ll continue making fake menus for my chef oc, in this case it’s a west african + japanese fusion. fumihoto’s travelled across the world to make a flexible menu , so for every country he’s visited, i (and him in world) are making a fusion menu.

so i haven’t made these things personally, i’m mostly piecing together the flavors by memory and visualization?? of the flavors?? does that make sense

anyway so this is a lot of “i think it tastes like x, with texture of y,” etc. etc.

- coconut curry noodles: tbh i got this idea off of a site, but i’m already really familiar with most of these as a guyanese person. the coconut is a mild sweet, and the curry is a funky spice that comes together really well. it’ll soak into the noodles and veggies placed in the dish, green onions for a zang of freshness, and sliced eggs. i’d make it special with tiger eggs tbh.

- pepper stew somen: somen is usually served cold, and a lot of the pepper im thinking of (habanero, scotch, etc) are similar to cayenne, which is the base in gochujang. which is korean, not japanese, but the flavors are too yummy to NOT put in the dish. so this ends up being the nigerian stew served with kimchi cabbage and cold noodles.

- peanut soup ramen: i imagine a warm earthy nutty peanut soup would do well as a cream sauce base for a ramen. maybe some dough dumplings , like a cassava or sweet potato as well to add to texture in the ramen? that might be too much to chew is my issue so i imagine they’d be cut thin like uzumaki fish cookies. enoki mushrooms and thin veggies would go in as well i feel, for color and texture.

everything else on the menu is pretty obvious in flavors , and i’m the most confident in the deserts and bite sides.

the rice platters…. i dunno. i like them i just think i could make a better fusion.

Oh yes! Paramita fell in love with RinRin (based on the same character from Sayuki 1960) - making him the first and currently only one of Sun Wukong's children to be married with cubs of his own!

I believe we discussed RinRin being from a foreign land - a monkey yokai (Sarugami) from Japan, and therefore a Japanese Macaque. They are the monkeys who love hot springs. I feel that she likes to tease her father-in-law by calling him "Son Goku" especially after a certain cartoon becomes very popular! XD

Paramita and RinRin's wedding is the most elaborate party Alolai has ever seen in centuries. Wukong wanted to lavish his eldest son and his daughter-in-law in a way fit for a Crown Prince and Consort.

So you can imagine Wukong cried like a baby when he discovered that he was going to be a Grandpa.

Twin cubs, brown-furred with their mother's sparkling dark eyes. Curious and giggly, and able to charm any treat from their elders.

They're based on the minifigure Legos "Brother & Sister Monkey" - we agreed that they are meant to be baby monkey yao!

And being Paramita's children; they make Sun Wukong truly Grandpa Sun as he's known in the books!

The image of the Queen Elizabeth smiling at Prince Harry made us think of a funny situation between Sun Wukong and his top soldiers.

The main outfit, on the other hand, is a surprising choice- it starts off white, but as you near the tailcoat, the lower half of the sleeves, and the lower half of the pants, it becomes more of a light periwinkle to make sure it’s not bland at all. Accent colors include gray, Seafoam green, dark green, cream, red, silver, and gold. I'm back with another Saiyuki ask ✌️

So you know, the Ikkou is really famous, anywhere they go, they get stopped by townspeople who want Sanzo to chant Sutras and such... So, that's kinda Sanzo's fanclub.

Do you think Hakkai, Goku and Gojyo have a fanclub too ? How good would they be at handling it ? Maybe Kogaiji, Dokugaku, Yaone and Lirin have one too, they seem really loved among yokais.

Anyway, I got "inspired" while listening to the Idol drama-cd lol

This one made me laugh quite a bit! I love this idea and had a lot of fun answering this one! Thank you so much for the request and I hope you'll enjoy the headcanons!

Okay, realistically, I don't think Hakkai, Goku and Gojyo have fan-clubs all their very own, though they are recognized and known. I think it's more that they're recognized and known though as companions to Sanzo and fans of theirs are normally already part of Sanzo's fan-club and they're liked by extension.

But just because the idea of it really amuses me, we're going to put that realistically aside and pretend that yes, all three of these dorks have their own fan-clubs and that they're all just as sizeable as Sanzo's.

Now, Gojyo definitely would get a little bit of a swollen ego when he first learns he has a fan-club. He's going to be pissed if it turns out that most of his fans are men...he's really hoping his fan-club consists of mostly beautiful women. He definitely would be the one to take advantage of a beautiful woman being a fan of his already to get laid, if the click and connection was there with that person. Otherwise, he might have a drink with a fan, if they amuse or seem cool to him. He tends to be pretty okay and friendly to his fan-club, but only if they don't come off as being annoying or wanting too much from him.

Hakkai is the most level-headed and realistic about having a fan-club. He knows that his so called fans really don't know anything about him at all, that they're infatuated with an idea of him and not who he actually is. So he never really has moments of ego or lets it get to his head at all. He'll remain polite and civil to any of his so-called fans and he won't go out of his way to be rude to them at all. He's generally pretty okay with being approached, as long as they don't take up too much of his time or cross any of his boundaries but for the most part, he prefers not to interact with his fan-club all that much.

Much like Gojyo, I do see Goku enjoying the idea of having a fan-club and he thinks it's really cool. He sees most of his 'fan-club' as friends and it might go to his head a little at first. For the most part, he's cheerful and nice to everyone who is his fan, though he really hates it when they start to get demanding or if they get too touchy-feely with him and that's when he has no problem letting them know they need to back off. While probably the friendliest of the three, Goku has no problem putting his foot down and making people back the fuck off and he does have a temper. If people annoy him too much, he's just going to walk away and if they try to stop him, he's cool with a fight too, if they look at all strong.

Okay, but honestly, when it comes to Kougaiji...you know how teenage girls hang posters and cut out pictures of their favourite celebrities and such all over their walls? If such things existed in the Saiyuki universe, I think Kou would be plastered all over so many demon girl's walls and probably a fair few demon boy's as well. He's a huge deal to demons and as he's fairly handsome, I think that really helps his popularity among the demon girls in particular. However, he's really not that great about handling the whole 'I have a rabid, insanely passionate fan-club' thing. He appreciates their support, sure, but like...they're more terrifying than some of the enemies he has faced and he can't just kill them like he does his enemies. He largely tries to avoid them as much as he can and it's part of Yaone and Dokugakuji's responsibilities to help him do such.

I'm excited to get into the post I'm going to drop as I finish it, take a while, but the next major information post isn't a character exploration... But, design concepts! The four main designs for the characters throughout the Revver era of the Ripper Inc story. But as I put that on the back burner, this post is about mythology and the international branches. It's not going to be that detailed. Just kind of a teaser for some of the stuff going on with them and some of the conceptual ideas, and some of the crossover elements of the universe.

For those who are just seeing this, the main concept of Ripper Inc in this giant crossover fanfic sandbox is a company that reforms monsters and serial killers, or even just gives people a job. Austin time they hunt down other serial killers and monsters, but sometimes they're hired security, birthday party attractions, etc. They're technically morally good, they'll do anything they're paid to do, but a lot of them do have very questionable backgrounds and needed the mental help program offers. Of course, most of the following examples don't fit that criteria, as they were approached due to already being morally all right, most of them at least. The main idea of the organization is to rehabilitate killers and monsters by turning their violent tendencies on to other killers and monsters all while giving them psychological help they need.

But, before we get into the lot of their members, I think we should introduce....

BRANCH DIRECTORS (PART 1)!

Because this whole postal focus on just the briefest summary of the directors.

Mary-San!

Starting with Japan's very Phone Call From Mary. This is one that's very much done for both the colony of it and because of the terrifying practicality. For those unfamiliar with the urban legend, Mary-San, or Phone Call From Mary is a Japanese ghost story about a haunted doll and phone challenge rolled into one. As per the legend, if you call her first you will get a series of phone calls from Mary-San, each one her announcing herself in a location you had recently been to until finally It All leads up to "Hi, this is Mary-San, I'm calling from behind you." Her height may make her a comedic choice for a largely yokai branch, but she is the perfect tracker, equipped with only a phone call she is a master strategist and can locate anyone.

I am also very much playing with the backstory of her mythology, with the very reason she originally joined Ripper Inc being the promise of finding her original owner, who by the point she enters the story is already a very old woman. By the time the promise is fulfilled, it's a visit to the grave of the woman, with the rest of her branch and her own boss there to comfort and support her.

Sun Wukong!

Also hailing from Asia comes the Chinese branch director, The Monkey King himself. I'm not going to get into how I'm handling gods and all that in this post, but I will say that I'm leaving him very much the trickster gremlin that he is. In fact, inspired by a friend's Fate portrayal, I've elected not to give him a set design outside his origins. Wukong instead will shift and use the designs of adaptations and depictions of him, or characters inspired from him. Meaning he could look anything like Lego Wukong to Son Goku.

The Victorious Fighting Buddha's reason for joining repairing is a mixture of responsibility calling to him and the simple fact that he finds the concept and idea to be absolutely fun, the idea of HIM being the leader of a company branch is hilarious. How could he say no? It is an evolution of some of his themes, he may still be a trickster, but knowing their ultimate mission he takes the job rather seriously, often he can't help but recall The Journey To The West when working with his crew.

Annora Petrova!

For the Russian Branch director, I know a lot of you old school Creepypasta fans might recognize this name, she is an underrated classic. I say Russian branch, however they do more cover the collection of countries around that area (minus China). I do have an explanation for why she's around, given I actually haven't rewritten anything about her story!

In this reinterpretation she has become the Slavic spirit of folklore... A Rusulka, this is due to a character I won't spoil editing her wiki and once more altering the course of her story. She's now come to be the director for this large branch of Ripper ink and works closely with / shares resources with Wukong. Everyday she has the temptation to check her wiki, to see what it has to say about her. To see what isn't about her newfound fame.

Brianna Grianne!

Hopping on over to Ireland, we meet the first OC director! Brianna is a fey, one that outright goes against the will of her people and instead uses her fae powers to aid and give people what they need. It's very notable in her wording, never does directly ask for something, avoiding fae deals.

She much rather live and be part of the human world than amongst her less benevolent kin, finding the world of mankind to be much more intriguing and hospitable.

Nero Claudius!

Who better to lead the Roma- Italian branch than this resurrected Roman Emperor? They were all seriousness, it is very much they're fully resurrected Nero's way of still serving and protecting her country, finding herself having to figure her life out after the events of Point Breaker's closing act.

She's very much the same Red Saber we all know and love, however, she is a composite variant, and very much a living Nero, so she's got quite the legs up on her Fate canon counterpart.

Cameron Bryce!

I haven't tagged this SCP for nothing! Turning our attention over to Scotland, I introduced the next OC director, Cameron Bryce, a former Global Occult Legion squad leader.

After a cold winter night in his youth his life was forever changed, finding himself scooped up by the GOC to hunt down anomalies with deadly precision... But ultimately he hated the job and jumped at the offer for the directoral position. Working with and meeting people who will actually see tomorrow, with more competency, and power, than his GOC squad. He's generally really chill, one of the most laid-back people you'll ever meet.

Camille Noemie!

The French director, and Dame Blanche (White Lady), she's very much a spectral figure trying to do her best for her community, alongside other legends from france, and their few serial killers capable of joining, they're one of the smaller branches, but they make do!

Camille is a very friendly woman, merely using her afterlife to help her community and work through her regrets from life. She's merely trying her best, and she'll do everything in her power to help.

Now, stay tuned for part two tomorrow, featuring the directors for the branches in Canada, Germany, Britain, Korea, Australia, and more!

Rutoni & Laruni

"The twin siblings whom already arrive in a virtual reality world where players and spirits called 'youkais' interact with each other. Wanting to make friends, the twins will soon learn the secrets of this world...after a sudden dream encounter with a great crimson winged-creature"

Rutoni (He/Him)

A 14-year-old boy and Laruni’s brother. Always a childish and great smile he has but nevertheless when he suddenly stumbles onto the world…where he can actually see yokais?! Instead of the yokai watch, he wears a strange white glove with a round symbol. He doesn’t know why or how he got it. 

Rutoni’s favorite hobby of all time: making friends with everyone! He loves to play around and is willing to try something new to him and his sister. With a childish personality, Rutoni is a watcher who doesn’t know what is right or wrong for himself, Laruni, or his friends. When given decisions, he suddenly drops his act...and begins to act nervously.

Laruni (She/Her)

A 14-year old girl and Rutoni’s sister. A great cheerful and childish smile for Laruni now turns into a frightening experience when she and her brother suddenly appears in a strange world. They don’t know how they got here yet it suddenly got more weird and strange when yokais are appearing…without their watches?! Similar to Rutoni, Laruni’s got a white glove with a round symbol.

Laruni can be a bit jolly kid sometimes, making it hard for anyone to tell why or when she used to laugh that much (even Rutoni doesn’t know lol). Showing off a sweet personality, Laruni’s trying her best to stay connected with the friends she made since the time she suddenly lost few or some in the past. She was never given a reason why, thus making her drop her usual self…and become more isolated.

Main Youkai Companions

Rutoni's Companion: Nyainto (She/Her) - A 'special' Puninyan who believes she has a "super duper power called limit breaker" that needs to be awaken when the time comes. She has the same orb as Rutoni's attached in her tail

Laruni's Companion: Astekomal (He/Him) - A 'special Punikoma who thinks he possess an "ultimate power known as the limit breaker" that dwells inside his soul. When the moment comes, he will unleash that power. He has the same orb as Laruni's attached to his furoshiki

Special Gatcha Powers:

Link Spirit

By using their gloves, they can create their powers and unleash it against enemies. They serve similar mechanics to the yokai watches such as summoning and version upgrades. Guiding the "Punis" will form combo attacks: the more combo chains they build up, the more powerful their attacks are.

Mega Evolution (Mega Yokais)

A great ambush by Rinne's Goku Army/Kachi Kachi Army suddenly cause a burst of strange energy coming out from their gloves. That energy...is Mega Evolution. How the twins obtain that mysterious power will remain unknown...

Aiko Waruuto (She/They)

"A teenage girl who lives throughout her normal, daily life in a world where the technology era becomes another step to advancement. From a freelancer photographer to a free-spirited traveler that secretly admires the old folktales, Aiko will soon make the greatest memories of her lifetime when the app she used alot receive a major update..."

Biology

A 19-year-old teen girl who is much more outdoor person. When Aiko was young, she met and befriended someone who came from a “world of spirits” they told her. This someone was the spark for Aiko’s interest in folklore tales (thanks to a bunch of ghost storytelling). As time pass, Aiko is currently working as a freelancer photographer for taking scenery pictures and helping out clients in need. When she needs a break, she is free to spend time on doing domestic style or playing games. Aiko’s life have always been normal for her…before a certain day arrives involving a major update announcement of an app she used to play.

A bit sarcastic but very talkative for Aiko when certain topics have been brought up. She’s very familiar with everything that is natural or something that is normal for society (EX: People make mistakes, life can be hard most or sometimes). Aiko’s also a social person when it comes to teaching her friends with less social experience.

Chibi Eyebo "nicknamed as Chibi" (He/Him) - A special type of the Eyepos. This yokai is very fond of traveling around the world and humans due to his curiosity over culture and food. His powers were weak, yet he wields a hidden potential that will grant him the greatest role when the time arrives

Youkai Summoning Device

After a fateful encounter with the "strange, futuristic dragon", the app suddenly made her phone transform into a summoning device that allows her to see, befriend, and summon youkais into combat. In addition, another feature was added in case of emergency: Flash

This allows Aiko to stun youkais that are willing to inspirit/harm her by activating that feature on her phone. Thus, releases a wide range shot of flashing light. It is a powerful stunning attack that is only affected to youkais.

Mega Evolution (Mega Yokais)

A horde encounter of "strange youkais" caused the app on her phone to activate a hidden program called Mega Evolution. A special energy that allows youkais to "evolve even further than beyond". The weird app on Aiko's phone continues to remain a mystery to her...

Shokyou (They/Them)

A youkai known as the “Demon God Commander”. Awoken from a few groups of Commander Youkais, Shokyou barely recalls anything before they enter a deep slumber, including how they earned that title. The one thing they know is a strange…yet familiar word,

"conquest the world, seek the bind"

They don’t know the reason but surely..those strange words made Shokyou to begin their conquest journey, along with the Commander Yokais, in the world of Romance of the Three Kingdoms/Sangokushi.

With such very appealing and cool appearance, Shokyou has a much more soft-side personality: they’re comfortable with talking to others..except in a tactical, strategic way. With the lack of social knowledge makes the commander more curious and wanting to learn about the “real world”. Anyone who mentioned those social terms (Human tech, domestic stuffs) will definitely bring the demon god commander in. On the other side of their personality, Shokyou’s mind is filled with battle tactics. The moment they engage in a battle, Shokyou will show no fear of striking the opponent’s weakness.

Special...Gatcha Powers?:

Summoning Mark

The mark shown visually on Shokyou's left hand granted the Commander the ability to summon Gunmashins (Army Demon Gods). Not only will it serve as a boosting power for the Commander Yokais, Shokyou can also wield the Gunmashins' power by shifting classes (From Normal to Magic class)

Godfires

Usually for the trio to have one "Gatcha Power", Shokyou is the expectation: They seem to possess another power yet the how will continue to remain unknown.

That power is called Godfires, great spiritual powers that once believed they were lost right before Shokyou's eternal slumber. Shokyou claims they've lost at least 8 Godfires. The 1st was already recovered: the Crimson Fire

Mega Evolution (Mega Yokais)

The long journey with their friends and their army of Commander Youkais has finally awoken that great power during the greatest battles. The power to evolve "beyond further than the original", Mega Evolution. Could this be the secret power of the summoning mark or were there more mysteries to unfold for Shokyou?
