Also on the topic of the Player getting sucked into a game. Thats my favorite headcanon, because its so like, weird but fun and makes sense for the hand thing. I like the idea though that it specifically happened during the ambush.
There’s something viscerally horrifying about just playing a game, but then feeling an actual fist punch you in the dark. The lights go out and the Player, “Gordon,” reaches to remove their headset to see if it broke, but just as their fingers brush the edge of the space where it should be, a punch hits them.
Fucked up. 10/10 horror. Local man trapped in a videogame streaming for 30 hours or something. Make that dilf (temporarily) lose his hand.

my wife said this was cute so i'm posting it . just some freerun. I watched 1 half life speedrun and he came to life in my mind .
Some notes (in case the photo quality is obliterated):
He is hard of hearing and wears hearing aids. when the others are arguing he does turn them off.
His goggles are mainly protection from explosive shrapnel and wind, but they also display his vitals in the same way the hev suit helmet displays health and armor.
I did NOT want to draw the hev suit, but he only wears the chest piece, the boots and the gloves. Sort of like half armor, any more and it would weigh him down.
Grenade sash is a bad idea dont leave them exposed like that put them safe into pockets so the pins don't get accidentally pulled.
He is the shortest and the fastest. Can easily out run any of the others.
spring boots spring boots spring boots
Constantly cooking a grenade and it unsettles Everyone. The first time he nade boosts everyone collectively shits themselves.

thinking about my tags on this post, I'm pretty sure the best way to do an au in which Team Tadpole forms without tadpoles, pre-tadpoles, because Wyll keeps heroically saving the day partly by befriending at least one key henchperson per major enemy...is if Ulder disowned him rather than exiling him, so Wyll became the Batman Blade of the Gate. Living in the shadows, stubbornly alone, helping the people who even the Flaming Fists can't, or won't... He has a firm principle of only killing "monsters", so for pettier criminals, he usually sends them walking up to the nearest officer of the peace with a friendly Suggestion that they turn themselves in for their crimes. This makes Ulder's teeth grind like coffee beans. Their dynamic isn't so much Batman & Gordon as Spiderman & J. Jonah Jameson.
All that really needs to happen for him to pick up Shadowheart as a sidekick is for one person to ask the Blade for help because the Sharrans stole their child/are aggressively cult-recruiting their friend/other typical dubious Sharran thing; and then he unravels that whole temple like a ball of yarn - or at least, enough that Shadowheart leaves and becomes local secondary superhero...the Pale Priestess? the White Wolf? (In this house we stan werewolf!Shadowheart!)
Then the Blade notices a barely-noticeable pattern of disappearances that's been going on for over 200 years, and the bloody trail leads right to Szarr Mansion...
(Wyll does not deal with the slightly-under-7,000 vampire spawn in the basement. The Blade leaves a note for the Flaming Fists and their ducal commander, along with a pile of evidence of Cazadar Szarr's crimes, and a pile of dust that was once a vampire lord.)
(Possibly this attracts Raphael's attention, because it was a loss for Mephistopheles? Raphael would be almost as good a comic books-esque recurring villain as Bhaal cultists.)
Gale somehow becomes their Guy in the Chair - still living in Waterdeep, mind you; he communicates mostly via Scrying, Sending, etc. Typical archwizard aloofness. Until The Incident, in response to which maybe he asks the others to get him books from Sorcerous Sundries, which leads to Lorroakan turning himself over to the Fists :) on charges of Apprentice Abuse [I'm sure Rolan wasn't the first] and general Being The Worst.
All throughout this Wyll is angstily - while acting the confident, ever-optimistic hero - refusing to talk about how he has devilish magic or why he Needs to leave the city to go kill a random specific devil/demon/other monster once a month. His friends know he made a pact and that's it. They offer to help. Wyll refuses lest Mizora make his life and theirs a living hell.
They start looking into Enver Gortash and his numerous sketchy dealings. In this AU, too, the Blade tracks Karlach down through the battlefields of Avernus...to ask her some questions about her former employer. He doesn't have much hope for answers from a notorious battle-devil, but it's their only lead...
But then she's Karlach, so he offers to help her escape instead. They're nearly out - or they are out? - when Mizora appears and orders Wyll to stand down. Wyll does not stand down. Karlach tries to behead her, so Mizora leaves him alone...for a little while. She catches him alone later, back at his base, and drags his soul through the fires of hell and turns him into a devil.
They ally with Orin, possibly unknowingly, to attack the Bhaalspawn leader of the Cult of Bhaal! She betrays them, right after murdering her kin!
[insert something here that's like speedrunning the whole plot but backwards]
Lae'zel shows up at some point, bleeding and halfway through her own character arc which she's been doing solo, having been snatched and tadpoled, killed a Sharran to regain the Prism, nearly killed by her own people for being tadpoled, regained the Prism via a lot of murder... She's now on the run from pretty much everyone but she's determined to re-prove herself to...somebody...by singlehandedly killing the Netherbrain.
(She tries to kill our heroes because she assumes they've been tadpoled.)
Wyll breaks his pact for good and is willing to go down fighting for his city even without any powers; then Ansur with his final-for-real-this-time dying breath gives Wyll draconic magic, so he can be the sorcerous Dragon of the Gate.
Epilogue: the Heroes of Baldur's Gate answer a call for help from their neighbors in the Reclaimed Lands to deal with all the ex-cultist goblins who've still been running around kidnapping and, idk, eating people since the Netherbrain was destroyed. They arrive to find that the goblins are already being bloodily Dealt With...by an amnesiac Dark Urge, who isn't actually being very bloody about it at all by their typical standards, and who has no memory of anything before like a month ago.
Everyone points weapons at them except Wyll, who insists that if they've truly reverted to ignorant innocence, then they should have a second chance, to mend their ways and help fix what they broke in the world. This is, fundamentally, a group wherein a bunch of morally dubious assholes (except Karlach, who's an angel and we're delighted she's here) outsource their moral compasses to Wyll; and honestly it's not like this is surprising behavior from him, so...welcome to the team!

the other thing about writing syjessie is that with any other cishet boy character in 1920 i would probably consider it quite possibly highly unreasonable and silly to have everything go from 'oh no my boy best friend is in love with me what do we do' to 'good news my boy best friend has decided she wants to be a girl actually. lets kiss' in 0 to 100 flat but. The Thing About Sylvester Is . he literally textually canonically on purpose has a weird psychosexual fixation crush thing on an adult man. he's not bisexual he's just like that. he's got that whole shounen yaoibait (also on purpose) thing with jamie because he's just so pathologically fucking Obsessed with his friends that a best friendship will have him clinging emotionally + physically and veering over boundaries that would normally be reserved for a romantic relationship. he never shuts the fuck up in his skull about how awesome gordon and his secret dark side are, because he is obsessed with his friends. you kind of get the sense that it was a cruel trick of fate to make him heterosexual because he would be genuinely incredible at being bisexual and in love with all of his friends. he already practically Is in love with all of his friends, it just doesn't come with romantic or sexual attraction towards the male ones. (or towards helen bc shes helen, by far too scary by far.) like hes the worlds first bisexual straight boy. and by the time jessie comes out, he's already spent months and months on end living with her and spending every day with her and coming to see her as not just a best friend but also very clearly as the person his entire life is built around. which is the only thing holding his sad little brain together since he doesnt get to be with any of the other lambs. so i think that for sylvester specifically it's actually incredibly natural for his hyper-adaptable wildly codependent brain to react to jessie coming out with not "oh cool, maybe eventually ill like you but idk i cant promise anything" but with the "OH SHIT OH FUCK THE PERSON I ALREADY LOVE CRAZYSTYLE IS A GIRL AND SHES WEARING SKIRTS" switch flipping on in his skull and him speedrunning getting the worlds most cringe+fail crush on her. Like do you know what i mean. I believe he could have this level of efficiency in him.

For the 5 facts thing, Knightfall AU where Nightwing swings by to check on Tim and walks in mid-strangling of Tim.
Oooh! Dick around for Robin#1!
Dick speedruns brotherhood with Tim even faster. Walking in on Azbats throwing Tim out of the Cave brings back a lot of complicated feelings about fights he's had with Bruce over the years. You don't do that to Robin.
Sleeping on Wally's couch definitely goes out the window. Dick escorts Tim home, remembers to hold his life together long enough to be polite to Mrs Mac, and takes over the spare room at the Drake's house. He makes some some phony excuse about the Waynes wanting to help with Tim still due to his previous fosterage.
Dick has always been too late. Found out too slow. Had things hidden from him. But this. This he can fix.
"I'll be your main Bat contact for a while," Nightwing says to Commissioner Gordon, on top of GCPD HQ, Robin lurking by his side. "Do I know you, son?" asks Gordon, squinting. "No." Dick's lie clearly falls flat.
The fight on a rooftop with Azbats is very, VERY showy. Lightning strikes in the background and all!

Here are my thoughts about batman unburied: fallen city because no one asked but I wanna yap a bit lol:
It feels so much different in a bad way. My og post got deleted, if you saw it no you didn't. And I tired to like it? I heard it, thought about it, but it feels like something heppened along the way and there is less going on than in the first or second season. I think the team was smaller, the eps were def shorter and the story doesn't get to go in places the other two seasons could.
Harvey and bruce have this cordial relationship, kinda of reminds me of btas but without the trust. Harvey's gf is suspiciously into Bruce and harvey hates it. There's a twist to it of course and it's how his gf is actually thalia and it's strange bc. It's not like you expect a twist, after the twist.
It's a court of owls plot. Batman has to grapple with his parents death being a conspiracy and not some random act. Harvey doesn't matter past the first half. He makes a joker voice which I attribute to the reduced cast and I hate it so much.
Then! That's when you find out Harvey's gf who's been helping you is actually thalia al ghul and that the court is controlled by the one who cannot die, drum roll, ra's al ghul.
And, okay, I'm a big fan of noir batman and I've never been the biggest fan of the bigger conspiracy plots aside from a few times. But this feels like a worse version of gotham knights where at least the characters didn't speed run their arcs to get to the point.
The court feels so weak in this. Batman just met them and they're folding to an earthquake and aerosolized adrenaline. The talon is another of Bruce's allies and although I appreciate the emphasis Bruce Wayne rather than batman but how the hell does the court know every single detail about Bruce's life and routine and behavior but don't figure out he's batman? Am I missing something????
Then, the al ghuls part is so cartoony. They really speedrun the ra's al ghuls whole point in two eps where thalia and him argue about protecting people and ra's is a huge asshole and obvs thalia betrays him and she disappears and I love her but wow.
Barbara gets some cool moments where she fools some cops and her whole hacking thing. But man why does she have to drag Jim Gordon? Why wasn't he involved in other first place if he's so burned out? It feels so, bad considering he's only mentioned in the riddler season and the first season. Why is he here?
And it might just be me, but this feels, like a regression? For Bruce? Barbara as oracle is there so you'd think Bruce would know better than try and protect everyone? Idk maybe the fact harvey appears only now makes it seem to me like it's earlier in his journey. It's a fine switch up, but harvey highlights how... Inmature this batman is?
They took stories that occur in the early years (ra's, harveys denting) and combined it with one that happens way way later in his career (the court of owls and the conspiracy) and it's so... Strange. Like there's both missed potential and too much at once for the sake of hitting the next plot point.
It doesnt do anyone any favors. I wanted to like it. And ra's is compelling. The idea of the court using harvey agaisnt Bruce (turning him into a talon maybe? ) is cool but this feels... Like a misuse of what they can do. It's off.
Then ra's, you don't have time to process and digest the fact he's an old guy, who has a way to live forever, the fact he believes he can change the world with a strong hand, the fact he wants to duel batman, the fact he has a daughter, the fact he's been here before and founded(? ) the court. There's a lot going on and it's dizzying.
Oh well.
