Day 13: Amalasuintha, queen of the Ostrogoths. She reigned in Italy on behalf of her son Athalaric until his death and then as queen regnant alongside her cousin Theodahad. Amalasuintha favored Roman learning and lifestyle, and insisted that she take on the masculine role in her partnership with Theodahad, both of which pushed the Ostrogoths to favor her cousin and depose her.

I won't wear crosses out of a dislike for Christianity.

But I also won't wear things like Ankhs, Magen David's, buddhist symbols, anything Hellenic etc because I respect other religions enough to not wear their items when its not my faith.

I will wear a Mjolnir, helm of awe, vegvisir, sventhorn, futhark, bindrunes and staves, solar crosses/wheels, pentagrams, Brigid's cross (the original pagan one) ogham runes, moons etc because I am norse and celtic pagan (and also two of those are non demoninational)

I just don't think liking The Sisters of Mercy and London After Midnight gives me a right to use others' faiths as fashion

Can we stop treating crosses like they’re non-denomination? Yes, even if it’s emo or goth. It’s still a religious symbol. You are culturally christian. That’s not a bad thing, but when you treat your culture like it’s everyone’s culture it does make people uncomfortable. I’m pretty goth sometimes. I get really uncomfortable when I look up goth stuff on pinterest and it’s all crosses. You can wear them, but when you’re an atheist with a pin that saying “fuck religions” it’s pretty fucking weird that you’re wearing cross earrings.
