I havent participated in daily dracula this year, but that and re: dracula really shows how important it is that schools reevaluate how they teach classics. Especially when literacy is at such a low point and an interest in books is so uh not great. I guarantee students that engaged in classics in fun and unique ways remember the books so much better than those that were forced to just read it.

The thing is that I don’t think Abe would ask out Mihashi of his own free will. He’s scared that Mihashi will spook even into second year and he believes that he’s always going to upset Mihashi if he acts normally (instantly assumes the worst when Mihashi doesn’t call him by his name or seems disappointed on the train home from scouting). Regardless of the situation, Abe thinks that he’s got his work cut out for him to be tolerable to Mihashi. Asking him out? Directly requesting Mihashi (doormat) to submit himself to his existence for an indeterminate length of time? To Abe that’s an act of aggression that he wouldn’t inflict on his only friend. On the other hand I think Haruna wouldn’t hesitate to ask anyone out if he decided he wanted to. And that’s how Abeharu can still win/lose
#endgame is Abe and Mihashi have an almost-together equilibrium in gr12#Abe and Haruna semi-date for a weird weird 18-month period in uni#then they break up not in a fight just in a ‘are we going to do this forever?’ way. coinciding with Mihashi finally being assertive enough#to go for it.#kelsey liveblogs Oofuri#what even happened to me to get me obsessed with haruna-by-proxy.#I think it’s that Abe takes his advice in the most recent arcs. Haruna was super important to him and they’ve reconciled and he said it#no matter how steady he goes with Mihashi there’s going to be a Haruna living in his mind until he can get over himself (never)
