when i was learning spanish in school (and still now, can't give myself too much credit) i always got "antes de" and "despues de" mixed up and the yearbook teacher commented on my google doc for the marching band page (i have been in marching band for all years btw) that i wrote "earlier" instead of "later" TvTvTvT.... at least i know its not just a spanish thing....

Dear videogameists, can we please end tutorials. Either make the control scheme intuitive or let us have a piece of paper. Or also just dont give a fuck. Being an animal means trial by error so can we do this. I dont need an hour long tutorial (cough cough metal gear solid 5) just give me an area to dick around in and some text telling me the basics or something I dont need you to hold my hand

I get that mgs5 tutorial/beginning is like that for story reasons and some games use it to be meta like undertale but generally I dont need you giving me easy shit just please throw me into the action

In a world were games are so easily accessed we need to quit having slow tutorials cause it makes me not want to play more even if I know the reward (playing the damn game) would be really great

fav part of quake (1996) is that little part at the beginning where its all mysterious like "you can jump across..." and i know its cause fps didnt used to jump but its so silly and mysterious. also like any player who read the manual and started dicking around with the controls would have known this that you could jump. its just so silly. and they took themselves so serious. this is why its great.

recently reblogged a post about transfemme thinking self ugly and i feel like i should share w yall my wisdom.

for the past year or so i have started disassociating facial features with what "gender" i think they are "more suit for", as in what is masculine or feminine.

what i typically do is whenever i go out in public, or even at school with teachers or with friends, assume as if they are presenting "opposite gender" as what they seem to be

slowly you will realize that all features of the face can occur with anybody, regardless of their sex. this really helped out with my dysphoria because all of the "masculine" features i had werent limited to "men" or amab people or whatever group.

i also noticed that a lot of times we might find features on old people or fat people "ugly" (or at first view i saw it as such) but i began to realize that those features are just commonly associated with the opposite sex/gender and therefore we find them "ugly"

also, seeing someone who wears makeup a lot without makeup will really make you see how similar "male" and "female" faces are, although i dont usually wear makeup so maybe you get used to it after a while.

also i dont have like a trick anyone could do but once i saw someone of the opposite sex (i presume) who looked exactly like me, so like literally everytime i look in the mirror and think "im so masculine i hate my masculine face" i have seen actual proof against it.

this wont like eliminate your dysphoria, but hopefully you stop seeing yourself as an ugly tranny freak but instead as an ugly person of your gender

i know thats not the happiest ending, but in reality, theres not much of a difference between people. of course female sex will have greater chance of certain aspects than male sex and vice versa, but there will always be women with broad shoulders, rectangular build, large noses, and balding hair and there will always be curvy men with soft faces "weird" amount of breast, and "dainty" figure, transgender or not

oh and i cant forget!!! nonbinary people like exist too!!! disassociating masculine or feminine quality completely upends your idea of "androgyny" (and hopefully will steer it away from afab with short hair and much makeup)

CRITERIA FOR MY IDEA OF A GOOD PC GAME

Unless it is a game like a first person shooter or something, no use of mouse

Graphics must be able to run smoothly on shitty pcs or web. Remember that low poly with good textures looks surprisingly good.

Unless the game requires a unique button scheme, the basis for controls should be arrow keys to move, z for action, x for back

Must be able to control these main three settings: fullscreen or windowed, volume of both music and sound effects, control mapping

No funky installers or launchers. I wanna be able to run a .exe and also i wanna be able to see the files that make the game up. i dont even need it to be open source, i just wanna see the sprites

BONUS FOR WEB GAMES: I need that shit to run good on chromebooks. i dont care if they suck, if you make web games you gotta know that 90% of your market is highschoolers
