note. hiiii i'm finally back i'm sorry omg it's been so long ANYWAY fairy tail brain rot is going on sooo i hope you're ready for it <3

It wasn’t so rare for you to go on quests with Gray, as you two were a pretty good match with your magics. It worked pretty well, and even more as you had a pretty good relationship. At least, it was the case until your last quest. Gray had been kind of weird all the time and you couldn’t take it anymore when he almost snapped by yelling at you. 

Since you came back, you were clearly avoiding him. Mirajane tried to talk to you about it but you were stuck on your positions and not ready to talk to him again. Everyone noticed it because you were spending a lot more time on your own than with Gray, Natsu and everyone else. It was difficult to make you this angry, so they all thought that Gray must have gone too far this time. 

You were currently looking for a quest on the board, alone. Until Gray approached you, clearing his throat and gathering all of his strength. He looked at you, and you didn’t even glance at him. A small sigh left his lips before he crossed his arms on his chest. 

“You’re really going to leave for this quest alone?” He asked, and you simply turned your head to him. It almost broke his heart to see how cold your gaze was towards him. He was sure he never saw you look at anyone in the guild like this before. He looked away, still hoping to get an answer from you. 

But all you did was to take the paper on the board. You showed it to Mira before turning away, ready to leave the guild. At least, you were about to when Gray grabbed your wrist to guide you out of here with him. He only stopped a few meters away, now facing you, your wrist in his hand. You looked at him with a frown, quickly taking back your hand from his grip. 

“What’s your problem?” You almost yelled at him and he looked away, his jaw slightly clenching. He quickly looked back in your direction, obviously angry but mostly hurt. You could see it in his eyes. 

“You plan on ignoring me for the rest of your life?” He finally asked, trying to sound as calm as possible. “I can’t do it anymore. I’m sorry, I told you that already. Please, stop it.” 

You kept your gaze locked in his eyes, a little frown over your face. As you were going to forgive him this easily. He tried to grab your hand but you brushed him away quickly. His lips slightly parted before he looked away, another sigh escaping his mouth. 

“I shouldn’t have acted this way with you, I really am sorry. It’s just… you.” Your eyes widened a little, realizing what he was trying to say. “Oh so it’s my fault now?” You slowly raised your eyebrows and he looked back at you in a second. 

“What? No! It’s me, but it’s because of what you’re doing to me!” There was clearly a misunderstanding but you didn't seem to get what he was trying to tell you right now. In fact, it was only making you even angrier. 

“Stop trying to put the blame on me, would you!” He couldn’t believe that things were really turning this way. He put his hands on his eyes, rubbing them for a moment, before meeting your gaze. “I love you! This is the problem!” He finally admitted, and it made you go silent almost immediately. 

You were looking at him without saying anything, trying to process the words he had just said to you. You blinked a few times, before your voice left your mouth almost in a murmur. “You… what?” He sighed loudly, not able to assume your gaze anymore. “I said what I said.” A slight blush was running across his face, and it hit you hard. 

“Gray, I…” He shook his head, not letting you finish your sentence. “It’s okay, you don’t need to take pity on me,” he said, and it made you frown once more. You took a step closer, and your hand quickly found its way to his cheek, forcing him to look back at you. He caught him off guard, as he was waiting for you to say anything. 

“I wasn’t done,” you started, and he didn’t know how to answer this. When he was about to finally say something, you didn’t give him the opportunity to. Your lips met his for a few seconds, before you looked back into his eyes, your hand leaving his face. “Now I am.” 

He must look so dumb right now, but he was looking at you with a confused expression and a blush at the same time. His mind was a mess, screaming at the alert. It made you laugh a little, which brought him back to Earth. He cleared his throat, trying to regain his composure. 

“I guess we’re fine then,’ he said and you rolled your eyes, with an amused smile over your lips. You took his hand in yours, nodding slowly. “Guess we are. Now come on, we have a quest to do.” He followed you without saying anything more, still trying to process all the events that just happened. 

Maybe making you angry wasn’t the worst thing he ever did in the end.

Fairy Tail Characters Ethnicity HCs

I don’t have as much extensive proof as I do for my Erik headcanons post but I will explain my thoughts for why I think certain ethnicities.

Natsu Dragneel : Japanese + Greek? (Because of the clothing style in his past flashback with his biological family)

Erza Scarlet : British + ? - I say British because she reminds me of Lara Croft who in her older days had reddish hair, also English history is big on knights, which Erza is. The other half I can’t tell as I don’t actually know what to think of her father Rung as. He seems like a POC though. (Maybe Mexican?)

Lucy Heartfilia : British / American - Because Lucy’s heritage as a noble it reminds me more of English nobility, but then her characteristics remind me more of american for some reason (it doesn’t help that Lucy looks a lot like Ashley Graham from the original RE4 and she’s American so I am kind of biased there)

Gray Fullbuster : Canada or Serbia (I think that’s mainly because I am making the link of cold countries though). Also if with Serbian I can see Ultear and him coming from similar places)

Gajeel Redfox : Native American (His hair and features remind me of Native Americans and I don’t know he kind of reminds me and looks like of Ratohnhake:ton / Connor from AC3) Juvia Lockser : Spanish + Russian (Spanish as the name Juvia is Spanish origin and Russian since the ushanka she wears and her clothing style in general)

Jellal Fernandes : Mixed ethnic - Mixed Arab (mainly Levantine Arab) + Brazilian, but then in my HCs he’s also part Desi too since the name Jellal is most prominent in India (And I want Erik to have a desi bro in CS). And the Arab/South asian idea came from him wearing Kohl/Surma in S1 in the anime. 

Ultear Milkovich : Serbian with mixed Central Asian or Kazakh (Again cold countries but since Ultear looks Eurasian but with dark features these countries came to mind. Serbia because apparently the name Milkovich is Serbian origin)

Macbeth/Midnight :  English w/Scottish + Irish + Japanese - English/Scottish/Irish is a given since his name ‘Macbeth’ but since his aesthetic is alike to Visual Kei, I see Japanese influence. But I don’t know, I just can see Macbeth with a british accent, maybe that’s just me.

Sorano Aguria : French and Korean/Japanese (I don’t know why I have the French, it just fits me when discussing with my friend @acutemushroom. Korean/Japanese because despite having a Japanese name (her and Yukino) due to her features she gave me kind of Korean vibes for some reason)

Sawyer : English (I can’t explain other than the name. But I thought of Romanian too for some reason, so English + Romanian?)

Richard Buchanan : South African + Scottish? (My only thought for this was because Buchanan I knew it as a last name big in South Africa, and Scottish is probably because of the red hair and ruddy complexion that I know scottish people can have)

Meredy : Irish (I don’t know why, it was hard to think of anything for her)

Kinana : Desi (Since the name Kinana is an urdu name apparently - So Pakistani) 

Cana Alberona : Irish + Italian (Guildarts gave me tanned Irish vibes for some reason and Alberona is I believe an Italian name)

Minerva Orland : Chinese + Latina (She wears a Cheongsam and her hair reminds me of Chinese culture but then I see Latina too) BUT, maybe she has Egyptian too and Italian since Minerva (Italian/Latin) but the blue eyeliner/eyeshadow she always has is alike to Malachite powder that was used by ancient egyptians 

Laxus Dreyar : Ukrainian + Russian (He gives me eastern europe vibes and also his features) but also since he's Makarov’s grandson he’d have Russian in him 

Makarov Dreyar : Russian - (I think his full name is of Russian origin but I can't be sure.) These are the HCs I have off the top of my head, hope this answers your question!

Gray holds a grudge against Loke cause when he was pretending to be human they shared an apartment and split the rent, and when Loke dipped back to the spirit realm he didn't pay his half.

Loke sometimes bring back liqueor from the spirit realm from time to time for Cana. Normally it makes humans see stars so to speak, but Cana is just built different.

Loke and Cana like to go bar/restaurant hopping and run up tabs in Gray's name.

Cana and Gray @ Loke because he almost never takes his shirt off- 'ok lmao, fuckin prude.'

(Listen two thirds of this squad doesn't wear a shirt half the time they would softly bully him for it).

Gray and Cana were each others first kiss when they were like, teens. It's not much of a big deal to either of em.

Cana likes to jokingly refer to the pair of them as her boytoys. Gray used to hate it but barely acknowledges the nickname now. Loke meanwhile loves it and always plays it up, full on batting his eyelashes and everything.

This is the squad dynamic-

Cana collects shirts with funny stuff on em (eg. MILF alert) to give to Gray when he needs a top and has no choice. Gray likes to sometimes swap out Cana's travel liqueor for non alcoholic stuff (but does it infrequently enough that she can't figure out a pattern).

Gray's not much of a physical contact person but Cana and Loke are the only two who can be all up on his person and he won't complain about it at any point. The two of them could be sprawled out on his lap and his only complaint would be that they're heavy.

din djarin shouldn’t be in a relationship

i’m just gonna put it out there: i think bo-katan/din djarin shippers are reaching.

they’re basically never intimate beyond good friends in the show? i literally saw a tiktok saying how bo was concerned about djarin when he was first going to help nevarro in the pirate raid and how that was cute. like romance-cute.

that’s also just friend things.

the other part was just them sitting with their arms touching.

also read an article about how djarin, bo, and the armorer would be a cool power throuple. now idk but that seems kinda weird.

the armorer is more like an… almost motherly figure to djarin. she’s likely way older than him (based on context clues from the show, i’d guess her age to be in her early-mid 60s), and again, BO IS MORE LIKE A FRIEND. bo and the armorer? i can see that, sure. but din has the vibe of a teenager compared to those two very jaded (and older) women. idk i think it would be kind of weird. i much enjoy him being a single dad running around the galaxy with his wizard goblin toddler.

the only piece of evidence actually supporting this is the “these are the reasons i serve you lady kryze” quote. but again, that definitely feels really disconnected from romance. the way he said it was no different from basically any other line, leading me to believe he literally just wants to help her as a friend. bo’s got a whole new planet to rebuild and rule after all.

as an aro-ace dude myself, i really enjoy good ships. but fans need to learn to leave some characters alone. smh. can we have this ONE GUY PLEASE.

often times, i will hc a certain character as aro-ace (shadow the hedgehog, batman, and gray fullbuster come to mind) but still enjoy a certain pairing. din djarin is one of the few characters who i absolutely do not want to see in a romantic or sexual relationship.

so, allo fans: i understand the ship zone. but please leave some guys alone for the sanity of your aspec friends.

not to mention, in the finale, he literally was just a single dad watching over his kid playing in the yard. he never ended up with anyone. not bo, not the armorer, not luke or boba, nobody. it was just him and his silly wizard goblin toddler. as it should be. stop forcing allonormativity on everything.

okay but please consider that once / if natsu ever works out gray's lighter trick, natsu starts stealing any lighters gray actually buys and tries to use.

Gray’ll just walk up to him and grab his hand to hold it to his cigarette, and Natsu will light it instinctively. He does not do this for anybody else

if Gray lights a candle Natsu will eat it and relight it himself just to prove a point. At this point he may as well be called ‘Grays personal lighter’ instead of ‘Salamander’

Gray now only uses a normal lighter when hes actually mad at Natsu or trying to prove a point, thats how everyone knows its serious

Feels good to be back to my roots so in honor of that, a gray fullbuster trans and normal hc list to kick us off

Gray usually will have pins or keychains on his bag and they are all usually holding a trans flag !

He has a patch jacket (a jacket with a whole bunch of iron on or sew on patches with different symbols! You make ur own it’s super fun) that has a trans flag on his shoulder and a bi flag over his heart

Gray gave all his trans friends trans flag patches for their jackets !

He has an issue with his top surgery scars being irritated in the heat and Wendy made him a special cooling cream (kinda lotion consistency) for it !

He’s also always finding fun ways to make trans puns like an annoying gremlin

Gray realized he was trans when he was a kid and his parents were supportive because in Islavi culture gender isn’t that important especially when speaking language wise they have more gender neutral forms than gendered forms! Especially when referring to kids!

Gray was actually named Gray by his parents the name Gray is a gender neutral name it’s more common in islavi and it’s easier to change your name has long has you have a justification!

He puts pastries in the microwave to make them warm

Is actually really sensitive to other temperatures than cold! Gray struggled super hard with magnolias climate when he was little.

Gray is a heat FIEND when he first met Natsu because Natsu is warm always but he’s a toasty kinda fire warm melted marshmallows kinda warm and he used to start fights with Natsu to feel that warmth

Now that they are older gray will still start fights with natsu but if he wants warmth he just drapes himself over natsu like a cat

Gray and Erza are actually SUPER close friends! Erza can’t bring herself to cry openly infront of anyone else, Gray will spend alot of time with her just in silence or playing games (the favorite is go fish)

Gray is labeled resident big brother because he takes care of everyone with Mirajane and then turns around and makes her take a nap

He thinks ice has different flavors

Best thing about Gray is that he's so calm and easy going and chill so literally everyone gets along with him.

Everyone loves Gray in universe, no one has any complaints about him personality wise (minus Natsu). Getting to go on a mission with him is a breath of fresh air.

Joint guild missions have non ft wizards breathing a sigh of relief that they get to work with him.

Gray is genuinely such a good presence for most people that they tend to feel at ease around him and he doesn't even realize it.

Oh, someone wanting Fairy Tail?? A rare treat for me indeed! Gray is quite an interesting character, and I enjoyed his arc over the course of the main series. Really, he has a lot of great character moments that it's hard for me to pick a favorite for him. And while I haven't written for him before, I could definitely see him being a regressor, so these were a lot of fun to think about! Gray is one of those regressors that has a pretty specific age that they feel when they regress—and for him, that age is three and a half. He might have fallen a little older on the sliding scale, were eight not such a crucial age for him; in other words, three and a half is safe.

3) Is there anything that can make them instantly regress or that can pull them out of headspace?

While he's normally a fairly laid back kind of guy and doesn't care much for what people say about him, when he's little a negative comment about his regression will pull him right back up. But as for what acts as a one-way ticket to tiny town every time? Food. Specifically savory type comfort foods remind him of the hazy memories he has of his mom's cooking. It's more about the way the dish makes him feel (warm, cared for) than the actual taste.

7) Random Headcanon!

He started regressing sometime after dealing with the Oracion Seis but before they had their little adventure in Edolas. Prior to the events of Tenrou Island however, Gray didn't have a cg. He didn't really think he needed one, though he did kind of vie for Gildarts' attention like some of the others did. After Tenrou though? Lyon becomes his main cg. They may have had their differences, but they still care about each other—and Gray's absence hit Lyon harder than expected and made him re-evaluate some things. One thing leads to another while they are catching up, and Lyon's new-found protectiveness draws out Gray's regression.
