April’s full Moon often corresponded with the early springtime blooms of a certain wildflower native to eastern North America: Phlox subulata—commonly called creeping phlox or moss phlox—which also went by the name “moss pink.” Thanks to this seasonal association, this full Moon came to be called the “Pink” Moon.
Other celebrations:
• Walpurgis Night - April 30th
Also known as: May Eve
The origins of the holiday date back to pagan celebrations of fertility rites & the coming of spring. After the Norse were Christianized, the pagan celebration became combined with the legend of St. Walburga, an English-born nun who lived at Heidenheim monastery in Germany & later became the abbess there. Saint Walpurga was hailed by the Christians of Germany for battling "pest, rabies, & whooping cough as well as against witchcraft". Christians prayed to God through the intercession of Saint Walpurga in order to protect themselves from witchcraft, as Saint Walpurga was successful in converting the local populace to Christianity. Although it is likely that the date of her canonization is purely coincidental to the date of the pagan celebrations of spring, people were able to celebrate both events under church law without fear of reprisal.
Walpurgis Night is still a traditional holiday celebrated on April 30th in northern Europe & Scandinavia. In Sweden typical holiday activities include the singing of traditional spring folk songs & the lighting of bonfires. In Germany the holiday is celebrated by dressing in costumes, playing pranks on people & creating loud noises meant to keep evil at bay. Many people also hang blessed sprigs of foliage from houses & barns to ward off evil spirits, or they leave pieces of bread spread with butter & honey, called ankenschnitt, as offerings for phantom hounds.

UQuiz Tag Game
I was tagged by @greenwitchcrafts in this tag game, and I got "desperate narrator"
this story is a cycle, and you're spinning around it like a hamster in a ball being tormented by a cat. you know how this story ends. after all, you've told it a thousand times. but you try to change it every time. you love the people in this story more than anything. so watching them fall victim to the narrative breaks you in a way you can't begin to describe. but all you can do is tell the story ─ their story ─ with tears in your eyes. you're prone to anxiety and feelings of helplessness. you have so much love in your heart, and for once you wish it would change something. it didn't. it doesn't. it won't. but you refuse to stop telling the story. and you refuse to stop loving the people in it. in this way, no one is stronger than you. you just wish being strong hurt less.
Hi. I did not asked to be called out at 9:30 am. This is cruel and unusual punishment 🤣
* As usual, I don't tag people in these. But if you follow me you're always welcome to say I did if you want to participate!

🌿 Ethical Cleansing Alternatives🌿
Hello darlings 🥰
I wanted to talk about an important issue today: the use of palo santo and white sage for cleansing. While these plants have become popular in the spiritual community for their cleansing properties, it's important to remember that they have cultural significance for Indigenous people and may not be accessible or appropriate for everyone to use.
Additionally, both palo santo and white sage are endangered in the wild due to over-harvesting. So what are some alternatives for cleansing that are respectful to Indigenous cultures and environmentally friendly? Here are a few ideas:
🌿 Garden Sage: This is a great alternative to white sage, and it's easily accessible at most grocery stores. You can use it the same way you would use white sage for cleansing and smudging.
🌿 Cedar: Cedar is a sacred plant to many Indigenous cultures, and it's a great alternative to palo santo. You can burn cedar to cleanse a space or use it in a bundle for smudging.
🌿 Lavender: Lavender is a gentle yet effective plant for cleansing negative energy. You can use dried lavender in a bundle or as loose herbs, or even burn lavender-scented candles or incense.
🌿 Rosemary: Rosemary has cleansing properties and is often used in protection spells. You can use it in a bundle for smudging or sprinkle dried rosemary around your home.
Remember, the most important thing is to use alternatives that are respectful to Indigenous cultures and are environmentally sustainable. Also, be sure to research the plants you're using and make sure they're safe for burning.
🌿 Some tips for using these alternatives:
🌱 Before you begin, set your intention for cleansing and protection.
🌱 Burn the plant material over a fireproof surface like a metal bowl, shell, or cauldron.
🌱 Use a feather or your hand to waft the smoke around your space or yourself.
🌱 Be sure to extinguish the material safely when you're finished.
I hope this post has been helpful in finding more ethical and sustainable alternatives for cleansing. Remember to approach your practice with respect and reverence, and to always be mindful of the impact you're having on the environment and others.
Thank you @panthera-dei for bringing this important issue to my attention on my previous post detailing Protection Magick which I have since edited, and for giving me a reason to research this topic further. As a community, let's make a conscious effort to practice sustainable and ethical witchcraft and respecting the cultural significance of practices like smudging.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to get in contact. Let's continue to support and uplift Indigenous cultures while practicing our craft 💚✨

Poison, bane, toxin. These are all warning labels that tell us to stay away. But for those brave, or reckless enough to take a closer look, there is more to be discovered. What is it about poison that fascinates and seduces some, while terrifying and repelling others? These potent substances have been used for medicine, murder and mind-altering effects for millennia. Poison is a universal concept and humans have had many beliefs regarding how it worked and how to protect against it. Poison, as a metaphor has been used to describe things like love and knowledge, or toxic situations and people. There is much more to the nature of poison than it being deadly and to avoid it. It is part of our most ancient history and looking into the past about beliefs regarding poison, contagion and death give us clues to the unseen nature of this force. #thepoisonpathherbal #thepoisonpath #poisonpath #veneficium #pharmakeia #occultherbalism #toxicology #ethnobotany #ethnopharmacology #botanicaltoxins #poisonmagic #flyingointments #greenwitchcraft #nightshades #solanaceae #entheogens #ethnobotanicals #witchcraft https://www.instagram.com/p/Co95meLrWfn/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The magick of dandelion
Native americans would boil dandelion in water to treat kidney disease, swelling, skin problems, heartburn, and digestive issues.
All parts of the dandelion are edible (preferably fresh). The roots are best harvested between June and August as they are the most bitter at this point, and the leaves can be harvested at any time throughout the season.
When collecting dandelions make sure you pick them from an area that you know hasn’t been sprayed or treated with any chemicals or pesticides.
Dandelion can be used to enhance psychic abilities. Dandelion root tea aids in divination and prophetic dreaming.
The best time to harvest the dandelion blossoms is in the afternoon when the flowers are fully open.
Magickal properties of dandelion: creativity, inspiration, sun magick, courage, bravery, wishes, divination, dispels negative energy, banishment, increases psychic abilities, prophetic dreams, growth, transformation.
