I've been listening to a bunch of tiktoks and videos about this new age spirituality tiktok influencer and I don't know about yall but my impressions on new age spirituality beliefs is that it's basically Christianity but hide it under a hodgepodge mismash of appropriated cultures that were originated by BIPOC.

Like, after a while, a lot of new age spirituality stuff sounds like a paraphrased version of angels and the prosperity gospel. It's so insidious and annoying, like these influencers are basically a warped version of televengelists.

Baneful magic is heavily stigmatized in the magic community. Often viewed as evil, morally wrong and dangerous.

I personally believe that baneful magic has its place. It's nether good or bad but a tool to be used. Can it be used for bad? Yes, but so can other types of spells and practices. Baneful magic can be used against evil or to help victims have an outlet. There is no reason to stigmatize a tool like this one. A lot of witches who choose to practice what's considered "baneful magic" get attacked and hated by the community for something so minor.

One of the things often brought up when discussing baneful magic is the three fold law, also often mistakenly referred to as karma. It's a common Wiccan belief that whatever you put out into the world will come back to you three times more.

My biggest beef of this is the misuse of the word karma and the number of people who seem to think this rule has to be enforced onto all witches in the community. By doing this, we are making the same mistake as the multiple high demand religions who enforce their beliefs onto so many others.

Baneful magic can be an outlet for a lot of things. Not all baneful magic is good, but not all of what is considered baneful magic bad.

Was reading about indigo children yesterday (researching for an essay on new age scams) and I realized that the idea was popularized in the late 1990s and early 2000s, which means the kids whose parents labeled them "indigo children" are probably in their 20s and 30s now. And I'm soooooo curious about how that affected them.

So: Do I have any followers whose parents labeled them an "indigo child" growing up? If so, I'd love to know how that label affected your identity and self-esteem growing up. And if you were diagnosed with some form of neurodivergence later.

HUMAN DESIGN SERIES

I feel excited to begin this series on Human Design. I'm part of a year long Human Design program, and decided that since I already love and post about astrology, it would be fun to talk about Human Design. It's not as popular, but has absolutely changed the way I show up in life.

Human Design Chart

In human design, there is something called the Human Design Bodygraph. You can sign up for free, and get your chart here. You will need your birth date and birth time - you cannot calculate your chart without your birth time.

If this is your first time learning about human design, please don't feel overwhelmed by the look of the bodygraph/chart, it's not going to make any sense the first time you look at it, but that's what we're going to uncover together. It's going to be fun!

Firstly, what is human design? Very briefly, human design combines astrology, the I Ching, Kabbalah, the chakra system and more ancient practices, to help you understand the optimum way you operate based on your chart.

Think of human design as a manual to how you operate best, in relationship to work, environment, relationships, manifestation, self-worth, and more. It's a system that showcases your unique way of operating in the world, and how the energies flow within your system, so that you can operate in alignment to recieve what you desire and live a more fulfilling life.

How to Read your Bodygraph.

The Types

Before we take a look at your actual chart, there's a lot of fun and important information to the right side of your chart. This covers the basis of your design, while the bodygraph itself provides more nuances to your individual energy.

Your Type

There are 5 different types within Human Design, which means everyone is either one of these 5 types.

Additionally, each of these 5 types has a self theme (also known as signature.) This means the state of being that is the highest frequency for them - being in this state means you're in alignment. The opposite is the not-self theme, which is the lowest frequency to be in, and equals misalignment. These are the 5 types:

Generator Self Theme: Satisfaction Not-Self Theme: Frustration Over 70% of human beings on the planet are generators. Making up most of the population, these types have a lot of energy to work and build things. All generator types (the generators + manifesting generators) are known as sacral being. They have a defined sacral center which provides a wonderful, consistent flow of energy to do and create. If you're a generator, you like to go in-depth with one thing and achieve true mastery in that field. The not-self theme for you is frustration. This means you aren't using your energy correctly in life, and therefore need to increase feelings of satisfaction in your daily life.

Manifesting Generator Self Theme: Satisfaction / Peace Not-Self Theme: Frustration / Anger Technically, the manifesting generator is not a separate type, they're classed as generators. However, they have energy defined and flowing from their 34th gate, and where there is a link between the 34th gate, this is known as a true manifesting generator. Manifesting Generators - you are the life of the party! With an enveloping, open aura, you're designed to live a life filled with satisfaction, joy, peace, passion, and desire - when you are feeling this, you are in alignment with your human design. All manifesting generators have a defined sacral and throat. The main difference between generators vs manifesting generators, is that while generators like to achieve mastery in one area before moving on, MGs are the jack of all trades, moving from thing to thing, based on the desires of their sacral. They are likely to try lots of different things. As I stated, all generator types have a defined sacral center. For a sacral being, feeling satisfaction in day-to-day life is paramount. For an MG, the warning signal of frustration usually leads to anger too, the more frustrated you feel, the angrier you get. For both generator types, your first step to alignment is beginning to release as much of what's bringing frustration into your life, while maximising moments of satisfactions and/or peace.

Manifestor Self Theme: Peace Not-Self Theme: Anger Manifestors are powerhouses! If you're a manifestor you have a closed aura, this means that your energy isn't as welcoming or open as the generator/manifesting generator, but that's a good thing for you! You're here to initiate and take action. To be the just do it people. All manifestors have a defined throat. You are here to activate your voice, be seen and heard, and to do your thing the way you want to do it. You aren't here to be swayed by others or to work too much. This is for the generator types, who have the sacral energy to do so. However, you have this uncanny ability to just do it - you self-initiate and hate asking for permission. You're the go-getter, hustle types. As a manifestor, you are a natural born leader. The difference between you and an MG is that you have an undefined/open sacral, which means you have a lot of power to initiate and begin things, but having generator types working with you can be extremely beneficial to fulfilling your vision. You know you're in alignment when you feel peaceful, but when you're misaligned you'll become very angry in your life. The process of deconditioning the anger, begins with finding healthy outlets and beginning to become aware of what makes you angry and moving away from this. Your strategy will help immensely with this (will explain strategy in a separate post.) The first step in this process is to decondition the anger from childhood when others tried to control you or rein you in.

Projector Self Theme: Success Not-Self Theme: Bitterness Projectors - so beautiful! Projectors are the people who know how to read between the lines, and truly are able to see other people, especially generators and manifesting generators. In traditional human design, the projectors are here to help or lead the generator types. As the name suggests, people project onto them a lot. All projectors have an undefined/open sacral, and therefore do not have the energy to work too much. They are here to rest a lot more, and to be wise guides. When operating in alignment projectors will be noticed and seen for their gifts and talents. Your self-theme is success, you are designed for success! And so noticing and receiving the success is important. Don't keep focusing on what you don't have, focus on the success you do have and allow that to build in your life. When you don't, you fall into your not-self theme of bitterness.

Reflector Self Theme: Surprise Not-Self Theme: Disappointment Reflectors make up only 1% of the population and have no centers defined. They have innate wisdom about other people. You have a genuine gift of seeing other people and as the name suggests, reflecting them. This means to be in your self theme, it's really important you choose the right people to spend your time with, and to be in the correct environment. Otherwise, you will be conditioned by environments and people who are not healthy for you. You have an in-built feeling of disappointment at humanity, because you understand so deeply the nature of the world, and therefore your gift is the ability to heal. Your self-theme is surprise. When you follow your strategy, you begin to have moments of surprise that are incredibly delightful. You love the surprises that happen and the unique people you meet. Tap into that more than the dissapointment at humanity. And if you choose, you can use your innate wisdom to help others.

Each of these types operates differently and has a different energetic signature. Most people are not operating out of the highest frequency of their human design type and self theme, because of the world we live in. I'll be making a seperate post about strategies for the 5 types, which is how you begin to deconditon and live in alignment with your self theme.

Pay attention: human design is an experiment. Learning about human design isn't going to transform anything in your life. If you really want to play with this, introduce and spend time cultivating more of the self theme in your body, begin prioritizing that feeling. So if you're a generator/manifesting generator, feel into what makes you feel satisfied, for a projector, what makes you feel successful, etc. Your not-self theme is an inborn part of you, but the deconditioning process is to feel more of your self theme. Some good prompts:

Awareness: begin noticing what it is that keeps you from your self theme. For example: if you're a generator, are tech issues causing you frustration? If you're a projector, is your peceived lack of success leading to feelings of bitterness?

What helps you feel your self theme? Can you introduce more of that into your life?

Take moments in your day/week where you're in your self theme.

The reason that many white witches/new agers/Wiccans/etc. want to steal things from indigenous practices is because it's just...easier.

Tell a white new ager that white people can be initiated into Voodoo*, as long as they are respectful and follow the rules, and they'll be like no thanks, that sounds like work.

It's so much easier to act like those meanie face Manbos are discriminating against white people and that's why you have to steal bits and pieces of information and use them however you want, with no regard for where they come from.

Plus there's a thrill in the forbidden. Taking something that doesn't belong to you is an act of defiance, an act of power. People turn to magic and spirituality for power, and this behavior makes them feel like they're getting it.

And that's why I fully support Hoodoo, Voodoo, Brujeria, Santeria, and other dolk practitioners putting out bad information to fuck with people. It's a fitting punishment.

*Some Voodoo lineages accept white people as practitioners, and even allow them to become priests. Others are exclusive to those of African descent.

The first thing you need to understand about the New Age movement right now is that it's chock full of people who believe that a race of tall, blond, white European-looking aliens (the Pleiadians) are fighting a war against a race of scheming reptilian aliens who exploit and feed on humans and supposedly exert special influence over the Jews.

Sounds kinda Nazi-ish, doesn't it? Sounds a bit like blood libel, don't you think?

The people who believe this aren't outliers in the movement. They are the movement. They aren't perverting something that used to be pure and good. The alien lore was always this bad, even if it wasn't always exactly identical to this.

If you and your friends didn't know about or believe in this? Good for you, but know that this is by design. You're in the early stages of what's known as the New Age to Alt Right pipeline. If you continue, it's just a matter of time before you're indoctrinated into the more blatantly fascist crap.

Get out while you still can.

The Dangers of Delusion

A lot of people on tiktok and tumblr and other spiritual spaces are seeing a HUGE rise in conspiracy theories and and persecution complexes. This isn't just in right wing spaces this is everywhere; I think with late stage capitalism fucking us over more than ever more and more people are turning to conspiracy theories and delusions to keep themselves in some sense of control but it is melting their brains in the process.

I'm going to ask y'all to read/write about conspiracy theories and psychosis for your own sake so you can recognise it better.

Here's what I've written in my own grimoire, my references will be at the bottom. If anything I've written happens to be incorrect please correct me, otherwise take this in and share it however you can.

-Conspiracies-

Conspiracy theories relate to the government, or secret religious groups behind them, elaborate murder plots and “think of the children'' arguments. Most spiritual/religious conspiracy theories are ableist/racist/antisemitic. The origin for many modern conspiracy theories peddled today came about from a series of antisemitic propaganda called Protocols of The Elders of Zion (1903) -though documented records of antisemitism go as far back as the medieval times.

This fraudulent document made reports of secret meetings of Zionists, Jews, and Freemasons making plans to disrupt Christian civilisation and replace it with their own socialist government. The propaganda forged conspiracies like the shadow government, and blood libels (the murder of Christian children and using their blood in religious rituals) and that Jews were behind it all. Many of these conspiracy theories were also untilised in the satanic panic of the 60's to 80's. (Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica. 2022)

Example:

An example of the dangers of antisemitism in today's times would be the website Gaia who promotes spiritual wellness and yoga lessons alongside sci-fi and antisemetic conspiracy theories including the existence of reptilians, cryptids, Atlantis, and secret deep space technology. The reptilian conspiracy theory is a subsect of the shadow government conspiracy that evolved from Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

Gaia's website features this introduction on their page titled Cabal:

“Powerful elites won’t disclose strategic deception or historical disinformation when it comes to the New World Order. From the Freemasons to the Illuminati, there are countless conspiracy theories tied to these top secret societies. But what is the truth? A mass consciousness shift looms as we expose shadow governments, mysterious organisations, new-age technologies, evidence of UFOs, and cover-ups that will change everything…” (Gaia.com)

-Life is a simulation: Existential

-Qanon: Political, racist, antisemetic

-Secret Satanic rituals/cabal: Political, antisemetic

-Starseeds/indigo children: Pseudoscientific, outer space, ableist

Antisemetic Stereotypes/Propaganda

-Characters with exaggerated noses, greasy hair, black eyes, speaking with their hands (goblins)

-Money oriented, greedy, thieving personalities

-Secretly running the world in a cabal or shadow government

-Sacrificing children/christians to satan/drinking their blood

-Aliens created ancient architecture (like the pyramids) as opposed to the people of colour from those countries

-The Jewish god is actually the king of archons/satan and created reptilians by mating with humans for world domination (Reptilians include: political leaders, monarchs and Jewish people)

-Psychosis-

Another important thing to learn is recognising the difference between a spiritual experience and potential psychosis.

According to the NHS, Psychosis is a form of mental health issue where a person loses contact with reality. This can manifest in hallucinations, delusions and confused and disturbed thoughts. Causes can range from other mental illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorders or severe depression, traumatic events such as childbirth, or drug and alcohol abuse. These symptoms can also occur in isolated smaller cases during periods of stress.

Hallucinations

Hallucinations are sensory experiences that do not exist outside a person’s mind. A common hallucination is hearing your name being called or seeing colours, shapes or people that aren’t there. A hallucination can also be feeling touched when no one is there, or smelling something no one else can smell or tasting something when there’s nothing in your mouth.

Hallucinations are the most common isolated experience that can occur due to stress, sleep deprivation, hallucinogenic drugs or some prescribed medications.

Delusions

A delusion is considered an unshakeable belief in something untrue that doesn’t line up with reality. There are two main types of delusions:

Persecutory: The belief that an individual or organisation is making plans to hurt or kill them (think big pharma and covid vaccine micro chips or the Christian persecution complex).

Grandiose: The belief that a person has power and authority (for example, the person may say they are the messiah/chosen one, poses secret powers or psychic abilities or special connections to political figures or deities) (Legg, T. J. Bruise, C. 2017)

People experiencing a psychotic episode are often unaware that their experiences don’t align with reality which may lead them to periods of high anxiety and further isolation.

Disturbed Thoughts

Confused or disturbed thoughts include rapid or constant speech, disturbed speech that switches from one topic to another mid sentence or abrupt pauses in conversations.

If you are concerned you or a loved one may be experiencing symptoms of psychosis seek help from a doctor as soon as possible. The Mental Health Act (1983) covers the assessment and treatment for people with mental health issues and states that a person can only be compulsorily admitted if the mental issue/disorder is of the appropriate degree to be admitted or if the issue puts themselves or other people’s safety at risk. This act also states that you can be treated against your will however certain major treatments like brain surgery can not be done without clear consent.

her name is Teal Swan and she mostly spouts third wave feminist bullshit and new age spirituality thats probably rooted in nazism and white supremacy, she says things that are very general that can resonate with anyone and is a CULT LEADER.

I remember watching a video ab her from Telltale Owen Morgan like 8 months ago or so only to find a family member watching her shorts today bc apparently youtube was just BLASTING her on the reccomended page. Im sooo fucking sick of cults preying on vulnerable people and lets be real- ANYONE can be manipulated into joining a cult. Noone is immune to propaganda and thats what Teal Swan is doing.

If you recognize her, because someone u know is obsessed with her and falsely assumed she was some sort of professional or shrink bc of all the books she has and her shorts make it appear as tho shes always in a podcast talking to someone not there, she is a scammer and very VERY fucking dangerous. Youtube is recommending her videos alot esp her shorts which means more and more ppl are seeing it a buying into her new age bullshit, please warn ppl u know ab her if you've never heard of her.
