The second panel is spliced into three pieces, and each shows more dead grimwalkers rising from the water. The first shows another hand, the second a fully formed grimwalker with a broken mask crawling towards and reaching out to Philip, and the third yet another hand. The third panel is of Philip trying to back away by crawling while more grimwalker hands shoot up around him. He shouts at them, “G-Get Away!” The fourth panel is a view of Philip crawling back from behind, and a head of a grimwalker can be seen behind him. He yells again, saying, “I said-” but is cut off by the fifth panel where the grimwalker behind him suddenly grabs his arm. The sixth panel is of him looking over his shoulder, surprised. The seventh panel is an above shot of Philip sitting on the water, grinwalkers surrounding him and grabbing each of his limbs. The water swirls below him in a whirlpool motion. He shouts, “Get off me!! Go!!” The eighth panel is a closeup shot of an arm grabbing his shoe and pulling him down, the ninth panel showing the fear in his eyes.

The first panel on the third page is a wide shot of Philip being dragged down under the water, his arm straight up desperately trying to grab something. The water cascades around him, pushing him down even more. The second panel is a closeup of Caleb’s eyes, which are glaring with anger. The third panel is a below view of Philip being dragged down, with Caleb’s hand still tightly grasped around his foot. The fourth panel is a closeup of Philip’s eyes, which are staring in fear. The fifth panel is from Philip’s POV, where Caleb is seen still pulling him down by his ankle, glaring at him. Other grimwalkers are beside him, hands reaching up towards Philip to also help drag him down.

The first panel on the fourth and last page is of Philip being dragged down, a fearful and almost angry expression on his face. He screams, “Caleb! Let-” but does not finish his sentence. The second panel is of Caleb still glaring at him, not saying a word. The third panel is Philip looking at his brother with an unreadable expression on his face, as though he just realized something. The fourth panel is an above shot of Philip finally being dragged down into the depths Dr. Falcilier style, arm out stretched and he sinks. Broken masks of grimwalkers can be seen below him, pulling him down too. The last panel shows the surface of the water in the inbetweens realm, the surface still and finally tranquil. in case you were wondering, yes, this is very much inspired by THE 'Ivan the terrible and his son Ivan' painting! i am a bit of an art nerd & there is something about the embrace depicted in the piece that just Gets me, y'know? it is a very nice work of art & also it was pratically virtually impossible for me not to draw it as belos & hunter. :P

so, my scientific headcanon, what does color of grimwalker’s eyes means

some notes below

1. Just after murder incident eyes are very bright (later they become a bit darker, but never returns to normal)

2. Than paler eyes, than closer to death

3. Eyes of grimwalker, who killed someone and now dying are turning to black

this is just my silly headcanon and it deals nothing with canon (but i use it in my AUs)

Look, maybe this is just me honking my happy ending clown car, but hear me out: Flapjack isn't gone for good. He knew his current form was damaged and that his boy needed help, so he did the only thing he could. He fused with him, became a part of him. That's why Hunter was "reborn" with brown eyes instead of his signature red. They're not Caleb's, they're Flapjack's. Unlike all those "weepy palisman souls" trapped in Belos's mindscape, Flapjack chose to go into Hunter's. He's in there, soul intact, and he can come back. Hunter just has to carve him a new vessel. Which is exactly what he told Belos he wanted to do: learn wild magic and carve palismen. Also, why does everyone seem to think that Hunter is a witch or a human now? Flapjack healed him, yes, but he doesn't have Pinocchio powers to change his physiology. And honestly, good. I like him better being exactly what he is, working within his limitations and proving that he doesn't have to be a "real" witch or human in order to be valid. He can still love and be loved, be a real person, be his own person, learn how to do magic, as a grimwalker. I think Hunter is just Grimwalker+ now. His own unique thing.

Grimwalker nightmare concept. The elements are taken from my space son's canon nightmare scene (link for reference) since it matches damn well: there's an Emperor..a knife..etc

I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT KING'S TIDE (especially relating to hunter but shhhh he's the emotional support kin with too many similarities. apologies if this is too long aelkrgmalkermg there are many thoughts)

Thought -> You know how Gus has those anxiety attacks that get so bad his illusion magic projects them? Well Gus saw Belos' worst memories when he did the memory spell, which included Belos' killing his brother. It then is, theoretically possible for Gus to have another anxiety attack about everything that happened before they all entered the human realm.

Which means that if Gus has an anxiety attack that projects what he saw in Belos' mind? Hunter has helped Gus before, but what would happen if he saw his uncle killing the person he was cloned from?

Thought -> While Hunter did protect his friends during the Belos fight (which was pretty impressive considering he was both injured and fighting off the draining spell) he never directly attacked or injured Belos. After Gus' memory spell Belos asks Hunter why he's hurting him.

Hunter never hurt him. Even after everything Belos put him through.

The last words Hunter hears from his uncle (the person who raised him and the person he dedicated his life to until a month or so ago in canon) is him asking Hunter why he's hurting him, and him telling Hunter he only ever wanted to help.

That's going to leave some (emotional) damage.

Thought -> Now everyone is in the human realm they're all going to have to come to terms with stuff BUT this will be the first time Hunter (and Amity and some of the other characters if I'm not mistaken?) get experience with a (fairly) good mother figure. Their lives won't be at risk. They can finally rest. (at least until Belos comes back aelrkgm)

Thought -> AU where Hunter went to look for King during the fight to protect him. He finds the room full of previous Golden Guards

for the first one, gus also saw belos making a grimwalker and stuff so gus probably knows about that and now hunter will portably have to talk about it which i’m both excited for because i think it’ll be a good scene and not because not more trauma :(

and then the expressions hunter has during the fight :( when he saw belos in his goop form you could see in his expression that he’s seen it too many times before :(

his expressions in this episode were really good but i with they’d stop making him blush around willow because it makes me scared they’ll make huntlow coming and i just don’t really like that ship but like i can deal with that

so mad we don’t get a full season three because hunter shenanigans in the human realm would be so good but it’ll probably be pure plot

also hunter and luz being scar buddies if luz gets an eyebrow scar is just 🤌

and no worries on it being too long
