The Royai moments the anime adaptations left out bc they are COWARDS

(I believe in fma manga supremacy)

Riza's Grandpa asks Roy to marry her.

So this one needs outside material to explain, but Arakawa confirmed in the 2nd Guidebook (released only in Japanese and French) that Grumman is Riza's maternal grandfather. Not necessarily a big Royai moment but, still it's interesting how Riza's only known living family ships it, and that Roy doesn't exactly say "no" to his request.

I am forever fascinated as to why any of this exists in the first place, what did you mean by this Arakawa? why have Grumman make this suggestion in the first place? 👀👀👀👀👀👀 What were you suggesting? 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀

Anyway, I wish we had an in-text confirmation of Riza's relation to Grumman and I wish this moment had come back to the story at some point. Even if it was just Riza glaring at Grumman being like "Grandpa why are you trying to marry me off?????"

2. Roy's "Get your hands off my wife!" moment.

He really said, "is he bothering you queen?" I wish we had more protective Roy and frankly, I don't understand how this scene didn't make it to Brotherhood? Riza was getting manhandled by a tin can and clearly not into it. The fact that a tin can serial killer developed a crush on her is concerning to begin with. It just wouldn't be in character for Roy to be cool with this. Roy is also a jealous boyfriend, what can I say?

3. The "I'm glad you're alive" moment.

For some dumb reason, Brotherhood changed this so when Riza apologises for worrying him, he just snaps "save it for the end of the mission!" Like, why Brotherhood? why would Roy ever snap at Riza like that? especially when Riza is generally the one who is laser-focused on the mission. Roy has enough faith in her, he's not going to see this brief apology as her being distracted or less competent. The manga dialogue is also meant to show how Maes's death is still a fresh wound for Roy, so of course he's on edge at the prospect of losing Riza too.

4. He literally asks her out

I feel like both anime adaptations really wanted Roy to be more of a womaniser than he actually is. But this scene lowkey confirms Roy has limited game and he only really wants Riza. It feels like dude jumped at the opportunity to ask Riza out the moment she technically stopped being his subordinate.

5. Roy's codename for Riza actually coming back

Seriously, I love how Arakawa took the time to establish "Elizabeth" as Riza's codename only to use it later to have Madame Christmas suggest that Roy regularly spends time with "Elizabeth" to the point where it's weird that he isn't with her now. And then, when Roy bemoans how "another man took Elizabeth" (an obvious reference to Riza being taken hostage by Bradley) one of Christmas's girls gets excited at the idea she might have a chance with Roy. The suggestion is that Roy isn't normally available on account of his seeing Elizabeth.

It's a strong hint to the idea that Riza and Roy might have *something* going on and are bypassing the fraternization laws through codes. At the very least it suggests that Roy isn't interested in anyone but "Elizabeth". Also look how bummed out he is that his wife is gone. Why did the anime rob us of so much pathetic whipped Roy? WHY?

6. Just a lot more touching in general

There's actually a lot of touching between these two in the manga. It's mostly during the big fights like the Promised Day or the battle with Lust and it really cements them as a true battle couple.

In the case of the Promised day they are literally fighting in each other's arms. Riza is leaning on Roy as she's on the verge of passing out from her wounds, and Roy is clinging onto her now that she has become his eyes. The way they hold each other shows how they are each other's crutch and how one always empowers the other. It also symbolises how inseparable these two are as moments ago Roy was at the Gate and before that Riza was on the brink of death, they could have lost in each other for good but they're still standing strong together in spite of everything.

The post-Lust fight is just a nice moment were Roy clings onto Riza out of sheer relief that she's okay and he hasn't lost another loved one. Even though he's on the verge of passing out from pain and blood loss, he still finds the strength to reach out to her.

Then there's the scene in the tunnels where he lowers her gun for her. The noticeable difference in the manga is that he does this after he takes off his ignition gloves.

The anime forgets to do this. It seems like a minor difference but it's kind of a big point of characterisation. Because we know that Riza has been hurt by flame alchemy, from the process of having the tattoo done to her by a trusted parental figure at a young age, to the trauma of seeing how much damage it did at ishval, to her very literally being burned by the flames so that it won't do anymore damage. Roy is the one who burned her, he's the one who used her secret to do unspeakable damage and suffering, why would he hurt her again by letting her go anywhere near flame alchemy?

My final thoughts: Manga Roy is altogether more dorky and in love with Riza than his anime counterparts and I miss his adorkable self.

I also feel like Arakawa was so good at subtly hinting at how in love these two are and how they basically *do* function like a couple even if they might not be together in the conventional het married with babies way.

Just the way you can tell they’re both enjoying it too, especially Shadow. A lot of people like to act like Shadow doesn’t care for the banter he and Sonic often have in these games…but he does! Look at him smirking, puffing out his chest, hooded eyes, and all into it! Ahh!!!

First, Shadar Kai! They're former elves of the shadowfell, though now some half-living offshoot. Normal human height. They can see in the dark and teleport, turning all ghostly when they do so. This is the player kind, so don't have to deal with the depression aura of the monster manual version! And...that's all we learn of the PC version, so for once I'm actually glad for the MPMM's hatred for detail.

The average drow is a 5 foot (1.5 m) cursed elf that's cartoonishly evil to the point of parody. That's not actually innate, their goddess just personally has the good ones killed and tries to manipulate/torment them to be even more evil. So there are actually nice ones, I mean they used Drizzt as thier only example photo, but most drow that survive to adulthood are going to be sadistic and dominant. Primed and ready if you're into manipulation and being used! Or someone with a hell of a lot of trauma.

I'm figuring out how to make these look...decent, because some of these have too many artworks with background for me to comfortably do my usual basic photo editing.

26. What's something the character has done you can't get over? Be it something funny, bad, good, serious, whatever?

Alrighty, get ready:

Lucien:

I will never ever ever be able to get over him and Jesminda and just his entire backstory. I love a good forbidden romance and unhappy ending, and I love young, rakish Lucien rebelling against Beron and the Autumn Court, him finding love in a dark time in his life, respecting and learning about lesser fae culture. And I just love how he is this rakish, charming and witty character who secretly has so much guilt and trauma. This quote I will NEVER be able to get over:

Eris:

Probably his whole past with Mor and why he left her on the border, and also his whole past in general. But specifically about his betrothal with Mor: I totally think Mor reminded Eris of his own mother, which is weird to say but Mor was in a very similar situation as LoA was with this betrothal.

Autumn and the Court of Nightmares are similar; misogyny is super prominent in both of these courts.  Females are suppressed, their virginity is sold; they are abused. Mor and the LoA are both huge examples of this.  They are two females with power who were sold to males: LoA comes from a very strong bloodline of fire wielders, and Mor has…whatever her powers are. 

And I’m not using this to compare Eris to Beron, but Eris knows how females are treated in Autumn, he sees it all the time with his mother.  Mor would be brought into the same court and High Family that abuses and suppresses Eris’ own mother.  So that in my opinion is probably one of Eris’ motives for refusing to take her in and instead leaving her there on the border.  She was one female that he could protect from Autumn and Beron.

This is actually something that Eris hints at here in ACOSF:

Chapter 14 of ACOSF: “I told you years ago what I wanted, High Lord,” Eris said. “To seize his father’s throne.  “Why?” Cassian asked. Eris grasped what he meant apparently, because flame sizzled in his eyes.  “For the same reasons I left Morrigan untouched at the border.” “You left her there to suffer and die,” Cassian spat. Eris sneered.  “Did I?  Perhaps you should ask Morrigan whether or not that is true.  I think she finally knows the answer.”

Cassian is like, “Why do you want Autumn’s throne?”  Eris answers, “Because the male currently sitting on that throne sucks and abuses females including my mother.”  

And this quote actually illustrates something I find frustrating.  Mor wanted to cancel the betrothal so she slept with Cassian to do so.  And Eris understood that.  When she was dumped at the Autumn border, he was like okay, I understand what you did. You slept with Cassian because you don’t want to be in Autumn.  I got you.  I won’t touch you, because then you’ll be my problem, aka Beron’s problem.  And that makes sense.  

And the IC is almost mad at him for that and it’s so jarring to me.  Because Mor is like I don’t want to be in Autumn, Eris is like cool, then I’ll leave you here and I won’t bring you into Autumn, and the IC is like “You left her there.  How dare you!” 

I am a huge Eris defender, as you can tell lmao. I love him.

Tamlin:

"MY SHAYLAAAA!😩 My Shayla🥺" I will never get over his past and his inherit goodness. He was raised in an abusive household: his father allied with Hybern; he grew up around slavers and murders and abusive people.  Amarantha, a mature, probably several hundred-year-old fae at the time, was lustful of Tamlin.  She was lustful over a child.  A fucking child.  That alone is evidence of how awful his childhood was if he was a child victim to a predator.

He most definitely hated his life and family.  He was ashamed of it, which I think is shown by how he did not want the title of High Lord, how he spoke badly about his brothers and father, and how he became friends with Rhysand, a male who sided against his father in the war.  And the fact that Tamlin grew up in an abusive household and found love and peace through music says a lot about his character.  He was still peaceful at heart and craved something else.  He wanted to join a traveling music band, for fucks sake.  He wanted to get out of his court so badly.

And when he became High Lord, it was violent and sad, and many people supported his father left. And I think Tamlin helped Spring grow a little softer after the Human War.

Rhys:

...you had to throw Rhys and Feyre in there lmao.

There are many things I can't get over when it comes to Rhys but I dislike him in ACOFAS with Tamlin the most. I will never get over him walking into Spring, seeing Tamlin in such a depressed state and Tamlin asking "will Feyre forgive me?" and he kicks him further into the ground. I thought it was so sad and horrible of him! T amlin told your mate to be happy, he SAVED YOUR LIFE, and he has went back to Spring and been in his depression by himself, not hurting you or Feyre or anyone else.

And I will be fully honest: if Tamlin was the one who had died and the High Lords were trying to bring him back, Rhysand would not have lifted a finger. And I think that makes Tamlin the better male than Rhys.

Feyre:

Like Rhys, there are a lot of things Feyre has done that I can't get over 😂😭. I wish Tiktok was still up so I could link the dozens of videos I made ranting about Feyre taking down Spring, or her being a shitty friend to Lucien. But I got this post on tumblr about Feyre being a shitty friend to Lucien, and I got this quote I can simply share:

I will never get over this exchange with Mor in ACOWAR 😂

Just watched the tf movie, and i gotta say its so FUCKING BEAUTIFUL, complete VISUAL MASTERPEICE! you can really just FEEL all the LOVE and PASSION put into it! It really FEELS like it was made by fans for fans, i had a friend with me whos not a transformers nerd and she said she really enjoyed it to, it made it really easy for her to understand the lore and plot, we where gushing about it all the way untill i droped her off at her house! Ahhhhhh!!! It’s felt like forever since his transformation was playable in a game. I loved using him in Raging Blast 2 and I’m so happy to see his beast form again and usable too!

I absolutely adore the new Impmon line. Apparently so much so I wrote a wall of text gushing about it, but I'll put that under the cut to spare those who don't care's dash.

Where do I start, there's so much to love about this gift. The punk and reptilian ascetic blends perfectly into Beelzemon with his biker look and his lizard tail/claws so if you didn't want to go with the Megidramon mega you can swap in Beelzemon just fine. I honestly like it better thematically than the Wizardmon -> Baalmon line, (even though Baalmon is cooler aesthetically) it always bothered me that Wizardmon felt tacked on and slightly out of place since it wasn't a virus. I know the X antibody forms helped fold them together more design wise, and they're an awesome line, but that still doesn't fix the non-x line for me... not that all digimon need a clean and clear through line persay, but you know.

I've seen people call it "Just a recolor" and I feel like it's so much more than that. I've always liked the regional variants in Pokémon becuase they breathe new life into old designs while still making a unique feeling creature. It's the same principle here.

And while it's sad we didn't get a full canon Beelstarmon line, I like this so much more. And I feel like Impmon -> Witchmon -> LadyDevimon already fits Beelstarmon just as much as Wizardmon/Baalmon fits Beelzemon, so I don't really feel the need for a full new Fem line for Beelstarmon.

And the connections to Guilmom are just... chef's kiss. People have pointed out that Guilmon has a good sorcer line with FlareWizardmon -> Mistymon -> MedievalDukemon that matches up well with Impmon's Wizardmon line so Impmon getting a reptilian line to match up with Guilmon is just so cool. And it makes it all the cooler that Impmon was originally going to be Takato's partner, apparently.

I feel like I'm rambling, I just wanted to gush about the Punk Growlmon. After years of the Impmon line feeling rocky and incomplete on some levels, I feel like all is finally right with the world and my ocd with its line can finally rest. I don't like remembering the dark days where the best line we had was Meramon -> Skull/DeathMeramon -> Beelzemon. It gives me war flashbacks.

Now I need a Galletmon/Dukemon and Beelzemon jogress. Give it to me Bandai.

My favorite thing about Stray Kids is the way they love each other.

Not in the shipping sense, but in the human sense. I am aware that the idol industry, as a whole, is produced, fabricated and sanitized to project a specific image and your favorite idol's "personality" might not even be real.

But there are small,unconscious details that are very difficult to fake.

Like the way they will gravitate towards each other whenever they are happy, nervous or distracted.

Or how they are constantly fixing each other's hair/jewelry/accessories or seeking some form of physical contact.

The way there are no awkward pairings, as they're all amicable with each other, to the point fans could ship ANY combination of Kids and there would be material to do so.

At the same time, the way they are all perfectly willing to tell each other off, to their face, on-camera; and openly talk about the ugly parts, like Han and Hyunjin's pre-debut fights, Chan's depression, and their various insecurities.

The way they protect each other. The first thing that comes to mind is how, during Han's rock-bottom period, when his mental and physical health were visibly worsening, they would always make sure to sit him in the middle, right next to LK and one of the 3RACHA members, then close ranks around him, as if shielding him.

Or when interviewers or hosts are getting too nosey, and the members will immediately derail the conversation into utter nonsense (ik that might be the idol training but I love that they choose to be as unserious as possible rather than politely deflecting).

How they always make sure everybody is fed and has a place to sit and rest, even if it means sitting on top of each other.

How their eyes outright sparkle when one of the other members is doing something cool (like Seungmin's cover of Love Poem, or Felix on the LV runway). They are genuinely proud of each other's achievements.

Just the fact that everyone is willing to help everyone else with their personal projects or the areas they're struggling with, no questions asked.

Even their obvious codependency is somewhat adorable.

And, of course, their tendency to pile up like kittens in a basket.

I just love their love.

Secret third thing that's platonic. Reborn and Luce? Besties. Tsuna and Kyoko? a one-sided crush that eventually becomes a really solid friendship. Chrome and Mukuro? another secret third thing that's different from Tsuna and Hibari's secret third thing. Hibari and Mukuro? frenemies (but more so bordering on enemies). Oh my gosh okay, you're opening a flood gate. Okay so of all the manga canon arcs my least favourite is the future arc, only because I felt it dragged on a little too much but otherwise it was a fine arc also it has the least amount of Reborn screentime /lh. HOWEVER, the filler arcs? Specifically the arcobaleno trials arc? My nemesis. I dislike them so much. Okay, so I've gone into it a bit before on my other blog as to why I don't like them or don't consider them canon (you can read that here if anyone is interested ★) but even in that post I was trying so hard to be nice about it kjdsahak.

They're bad. They represent the Arcos so poorly and one thing I didn't even mention in my post is the stupid arcobaleno pact they added to the fillers which?? makes no sense??? Literally contradicts canon information we have on the arcobalenos. Like what do you mean they can't attack one another and if one does everyone else needs to gang up and attack them back? What's the point of that? Also they've literally been attacking each other from day one, literally our first introduction to Colonnello and Skull was the mafia land chapters where they're all fighting and Skull attacks the whole place dsakjhad. (and also how do they know so little about the curse itself but they know about this pact? when was this ever communicated to them?? Did Checkerface just give them a set of guidelines and they were just chill with following it??)

HOLY SHIT GUYS HELLUVA BOSS S2 EP 10??! I LOVED IT OH MY FUCKING GOD IT WAS SOOO GOOD. BLITZO BUYING A SHIT TON OF THINGS TO COPE WITH THE *NOT* BREAKUP WITH STOLAS,LOONA BEING TIRED AF,LOONA ACTUALLY BEING NICE AND BABYSITTING MOXXIE FOR MILLIE,MILLIE BEING SO HAPPY IN THE INTRO ONLY TO SEE A SHITSHOW IN THE OFFICE AHHAHA. Blitzo going through nightmarish shit with the goop stuff,reliving his mom's death and a buncha Millies that represent the people whose lives he has ruined including Fizz. Millie being revealed to have Issues™ regarding her worth and how she was viewed by other demons.. Blitzo being the reason why Millie met Moxxie and their dynamic being such a wholesome one. That horrific scene with Ronaldo/Rolando torturing Blitzo with his own fears and the worst moments of his life,also that fuckin thing being revealed to feed on people's fears and insecurities. Rolando trying to make Millie hate Blitzo when she actually doesn't buy any of his shit and also Blitzo's first meeting with Millie being a wild fight,what a way to start a friendship lmaoo. The fact that Blitzo implied that he fucked his way into getting the money for a new office for everyone in the flashback is strangely wholesome and sweet. Blitzo being the one that inspired Millie to be more than everyone's expectations of her,oughhh. The fact that she said that he's her best friend 🥺,Millie being the only real friend that he doesn't want to fuck. THE ENDING WITH MOXXIE FINALLY GETTING THE MATH RIGHT ONLY FOR LOONA TO CORRECT HIM AND HIM WATCHING A MUSICAL LMAOOO. 10/10 episode,Helluva is hilariously doing better than Hazbin with it's impactful storytelling and character dynamics and the realistic portrayal of how a breakup affects people and it's amazing.
