Rise of the Guardians:

It's a fun story with good writing and really interesting characters.

I was drawn in by the white haired anime boy when the trailers first dropped, I was further drawn in by the fact that he was also dead (Hurt/comfort angst potential is HOUGH) But also the visuals are absolutely gorgeous and I fell in love with the story of hope and faith and of wanting to be seen. It's such a wholesome movie and I've watched it repeatedly when it came out in theatres. Did I also mention the SOUNDTRACK?! ACK-! I love it!!!

I was here when this film was HUGE on Tumblr and I get so much nostalgia over it, sure, it was a little cringe*, but I had fun and that's what matters <3

The Emperor's New Groove:

Funny, memorable, guy turns into a llama.

This bad boy can fit so many memes! A great movie. Really good story about empathy. Fantastic villain. Fun family dynamics. The main character is FLAMBOYANT. Kronk is in this. I don't know what else you could possibly want. Oh yes, 2D animation my beloved.

The movie has a pretty silly concept but still contains plenty of heart and themes of cooperation and friendship. Plus all of the characters are iconic. They tend to be just a little bit horrible but still loveable (or at least extremely entertaining to watch).

I have loved this movie for 20 years; like 10 years ago I managed to convert my mom and now it’s our Thanksgiving movie. Infinitely quotable. The fact that Patrick Warburton is genuinely so tone-deaf that Kronk’s humming of the Mission: Impossible theme is UNRECOGNIZABLE.

Has the best character development of all time and also a himbo who likes to cook and Eartha Kitt!! my brother and i would always watch this movie on road trips it’s iconic and the best scene is definitely when Kuzco wakes up as a llama in the countryside and both he and Pacha freak the hell out and Kuzco goes “LLAMA FAAAAAACE” it is HILARIOUS amazing movie fr

It’s so well done! The voice acting is great, the whole movie is campy and fun, and it’s a movie about learning to care about other people.

I have beef with Watcher's slapdash late-ass quiet marketing of their new show with Selorm but I don't have enough time to rant about it (I have been balancing working at my old job to train my replacement while launching into a new career in property management which eats up all my waking hours) coherently so forgive me if this is all over the place.

All I'll say is there should have been a ruckus about it at least a week before. Clips, tiktoks, memes: the whole bit.

I want Watcher to be better than Buzzfeed even while they make gorgeous and delicious Buzzfeed-at-its-peak content and Buzzfeed creators DO make good content but the company treats and treated their creator's goals and their potential like it was expendible (see figure 1.1: ruining history) and if Selorm who is an absolute WONDER with charisma, talent and untapped creativity gets the poop end of the stick because the guys don't want to hire a marketing professional to make sure their shows that don't have Ryan, Shane, or Steven at the forefront still succeed then they're no better than where they came from.

Get it together, guys. I know Ghost Files is your golden ticket right now but don't drop the ball when it comes to the better angles of your initial manifesto and that is 100% all about your open and inclusive vision of a talented reel of creators.

I'm so frustrated. I won't even get into how I felt about Worth a Shot's potential. Getting that trailer just two days before Pretty Historic's first episode aired (and early access on their patreon had the most god-awful thumbnail doing Selorm a huge injustice) and now that it's public, I'm trying to link it to everyone I know who's into the beauty world of the internet but this is the sort of thing a marketing team agent would have known to start doing weeks ago. You have a demographic of multifaceted individuals who are not all teens making fun of people getting spoiled about Stranger Things' new season on Watcher socials.

I know these guys are always looking to do better and I trust them a lot but it is so easy to fall victim to complacency and indignation at being criticized but I'm really on one lately I'm thinking about upping my tier on their patreon again just so I can riot politely in the Observer chat about the months-long mess I've been quietly witnessing take hold of what I used to have time to be vocal about. Obviously I care a lot so it just doesn't sit right with me to sit by and watch my friends slowly dwindle out of their audience out of repeat disappointments.

Anyway, Pretty Historic is a solidly good show with a banger of a first episode. What a waste if it caps at 200k and they table it.

12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them

OH BOY LMAO ok it's complicated but. i think yuko was a crucial character not only for for asa but for our understanding of the themes of part 2 as a whole, and the only people who pay attention to her either meme her as the riddler or see her as a Soft Lesbian instead of like. how interesting she is. she immediately clings to asa because she too has been neglected and bullied and is deeply lonely! she's built on action where asa remains stuck in her head and in her thoughts, the moment she's given a motivation (a new friend) she decides that she's going to fix their problems and that solution involves 1) making a contract 2) killing their bullies. that's how desperate her situation is, that's how bad it's gotten for her--willing to give whatever she could and give up aspects of her humanity in the name of making the world a tiny bit safer for herself and her friend.

and her admiration for chainsaw man as a character is so so interesting--chainsaw man is no longer pochita nor even denji, chainsaw man is a fucking cartoon figure and political symbol who represents everyone's hopes and fears. so it's telling that to asa, chainsaw man is a figure of justice, someone who should be working to make a better world in which neither she nor asa are outcasts and hurt freely without adults interfering except to train them into future employees and fodder in the war against devils. and the reality is that nobody is coming to save her! the reality is that chainsaw man is not any of these things and is Just A Guy. the reality is that the world is, currently, really that cruel. she's basically taken the first steps that i think will guide asa in the future--i truly believe that asa is going to want to end the world out of sheer disgust and pain at everything she's gone through, just as a yuko saw herself as just for wanting to wipe out the school and the uncaring structures that let her family die and then let her be tormented with no care for her life or wellbeing. idk if yuko's fate will be revealed to her at that point but it might contribute to that. anyhow yuko makes me so fucking sad man, i wish people would understand her more than as a cute friend for asa
