edit: might need to add some additional dialogue to this to make it more clear, but a clarification in the interim; he knows about his own footprints. he's just surprised to see something similar already there when he knows he's only just landed. he lifts his own shoe to confirm that they're not identical (and also to reveal this to the viewer). seems his stoicism beat off the clarity in this one, sorry 😭

So this is an out of context segment from my current fic that I'm working on. (Don't get any ideas, this is nowhere close to being finished)

Hoshina turned to look behind him and almost dropped his drink on his shoes. On a standing table in view of the glass doors, were two members of the ground squad of Division Three. Iharu Furuhashi and Haruichi Izumo were standing on the table above the crowd, shirtless, and dancing in what could be assumed was an erotic fashion. It was hard to tell as it was clear they were both drunk out of their minds.

The group that had gathered around seemed to be very into the performance, tossing bills and cheering the two on. There was two notable exceptions in the crowd. One was Aoi Kaguragi. His back was to the two of them, but it was obvious that his face was in his hands and probably wanted to either die or kill everyone in the room. The other was Reno Ichikawa. He was facing them and it was clear from his face that he was engrossed in the show, but somewhere else mentally.
