Now, I would like to talk about the design of this... Curious lineage xd. The vampire supreme kings are based on the several points of view of the legendary count Dracula.ย
Starting with Hal, he is based on the classic figure of a handsome, charming and lustful gentleman who happens to be also the prince of darkness. Vlad is based on what inspired this legend, the prince of Wallachia, Vlad the Impaler, one of the most famous rulers of mankind history, known for being a bloodthirsty and cruel man. And finally, we have our dearest Hell, he was based on the bases of the myth of the vampire, many ancient cultures had a similar concept of a creature of night that hunts the living and sucks their souls, such as the lamia from the Greek mythology or the children of Lilith from some version of the Bible.
These bases can tell you about how these rulers are seen in the Nix. Hal is known for who he was, a man of many woman, a lustful and prideful being full of hate. Vlad was known for what he could do, how cruel he was, how insane he was, this man had "Blood Orgies", and he even was capable of killing another vampire if it was needed. Finally, Hell was known as a myth, a creature from darkness, a tale to scare the children...and the adults, some kind of Boogeyman who hides beyond that dense forest, across that abandoned street, maybe in that scary and gloomy corner of your house, a shadow no one has ever seen but is the source of many fears.ย
As a creator I like to compare my characters with the seven deadly sins, it is a concept I like, so, in order for you to comprehend more the simple aspects of their personalities I will highlight those sins that twist the minds of these hot men.ย
They have two main sins, however, there is one that is present in the three of them, and it is Lust. Most of you (I don't know if everyone that's why I say that) are from the DL's community, so we can agree that lust simply is something vampires have xD.ย
About their individual sins, Hal's is Pride, he could face anyone, no matter who, and he wouldn't even flinch, in fact, he was king and God of the vampire only for 50 years, but because he was such a pain in the backside, the Creators of the Universe trapped him in a planet alone to live for eternity. (Drya and I have this joke were hypothetically Hal comes back and claims the throne, and he is tall but he is still smaller than Hell, and it is just hilarious to imagine that scene xD: โ€”Boy, you have my gratitude for keeping my throne warm, now get down).
Vlad's sin: Gluttony! When you think about it, normally lust and gluttony are something that seems to be fused within vampires, however, Vlad takes this to the next level. For him every creature has to fulfill a purpose, so when he finds someone useless, he eats them, no matter who they are. (And sometimes he could make some...nasty things with those people before killing them).ย
And finally, our beloved Hell, his sin is no doubt: Wrath. He is someone who has learned to control his feelings, nevertheless, this only means that those feelings are maybe the most dangerous thing about him, unlike the former kings, he is not reckless but when he loses his mind...bad things happen. Hal and Vlad were scary because of who they were and what they did, but Hell is feared because of what he can do. (You'll be able to taste this with a post of an AU were is beloved son is kidnapped by humans. It is written but Drya is drawing is God appearance >:3).ย
I hope you enjoyed reading this, I am very happy if you did enjoy it too, this blog and all the people I interact with have become a great support in my life, writing is my greatest passion and seeing people having fun with my characters in my Nix...it is just amazing u,w,u. And for that, I am revealing the Bloodborne's Family Tree! I wonder who is going to be the next to be revealed >;3.

Screaming into the void rn incomprehensibly. I have been getting serious brain rot about the dichotomy between 2001 A Space Odyssey and Bloodborne rn. And I think I figured out why Space Odyssey falls flat for me while Bloodborne works. Basically, for these two different design/fine arts classes I had to dissect these two on their principles; one was an essay on 2001: A Space Odyssey and one was a presentation on Bloodborne. So now you all have to hear my thoughts even though I rarely post beyond reblogs.
SPOILERS AHEAD TREAD CAREFULLY:
The two are arguably of a similar genre of cosmic horror/Lovecraftian horror/eldritch horror whatever the fuck you want to call it. The issue with Space Odyssey is there is no true horror in knowing. That's it. The lack of plot makes you confused on why everyone is freaking out about those goddamn alien rectangles. The enlightenment of humanity, where Dave turns into the StarChild fetus, is not a horror revelation nor is it seen as a triumph of ascension. It just is? Like he sees a bunch of colors (which is just Kubrick on acid being like let's not cut this down) and then he sees himself rapidly age, which should begin to cohesively tie the plot and would like show this ascension into becoming alien/an Old one, but it doesnโ€™t. It cuts to him being a fetus. Not to mention the evolution of humanity displayed in the film is so choppy as it cuts from the monkeys, to the moon people, to Dave in the Jupiter trip to ascension of humanity? Like many a time I have complained about the lack of plot for this movie or about how much of the runtime could be cut.ย
Bloodborne solves this problem and conveys its story in so much more of a compelling way. The plot is just as obscured as Space Odyssey, and it doesnโ€™t even need to be uncovered for certain playthroughs. But even brutality in monster hunting gives you a specific ending and the lore of the world will still be conveyed by the NPCs around you. The ideas of the evolution of humanity are dealt with in a much more interesting way of analyzing and viscerally showing you the issues between A) sex and B) human experimentation forcing people to madness when trying to breach ascension. The sex part has been discussed in a wonderful video essay by Honey Bat on YouTube under Visceral Feminity: A Bloodborne Video Essay and also a recent post I reblogged by xenosagaepisodeone that discusses the use of sex as a tactic into cosmic horror. (Also brief note that Space Odyssey has scenes that make me personally uncomfy because haha late 60s sexism).ย
What Iโ€™m about to discuss is ascension and knowledge. Basically there is this very important part of Bloodborne where you discover that there are two like factions that are trying to get humanity to ascend into becoming one with the Old Gods: The Blood Ministry/The Healing Church (people trying to use the blood of trapped Old Gods and inject themselves with it, which turns them into blood drunk monsters) and the Byrgenwerth College (belief that humanity needs to elevate their minds by gaining Insight which basically some Watcher shit where they try to see into the eldritch truth via eyeballs). This can completely tie into the hubris of humanity that is prevalent in Lovecraft stories as those that seek this power are often damned to madness, which is seen in both heads of these factions. In fact, the true ending of the game is the protagonist ascending after using both methods in-game to survive.ย
So what does this mean for Space Odyssey? It means that the ascension of Dave has no basis nor a hubris. The only one who displays any hubris in the movie is HAL and perhaps the businessmen who decide to send people to the moon. Which makes sense if you understand the people losing it on the moon, but the ascension has no basis. There is no reason for Dave to ascend as the Hunter does in Bloodborne beyond being chosen by an outside alien force after they scouted humanity for millions of years. The madness of the rectangles is not eldritch knowledge as it is not about comprehension of an outside source. Bloodborne masters this perfectly with the two routes that Yharnam has taken and its explorations of this concept. It follows how Lovecraft applied arrogance in humans to drive them mad. It follows how these stories see incomprehensible things, ignores it, and then someone fucks it up for the rest of us. It explores how the ascension of humans is through the same knowledge that makes us insane. Dave and Space Odyssey doesnโ€™t get that. And it might merely be the medium it is made in, as Bloodborne has the advantage of being an interactive medium, and it also could be because the point is that it is a fun space movie and technology sometimes bad movie made when the moon landing happened and that was terrifying for a lot of people. But I think its interesting how similar these two things are in a horror concept, and yet I despised Space Odyssey to the point of mental breakdown and now Iโ€™m relentlessly consuming Bloodborne content. Like theres gotta be reasons for this I feel like Iโ€™m going insane in the membrane myself.ย
I do also want to mention that I actually think both media are stunning design-wise. Kubrick is obviously a master at cinematic craft and certain scenes, such as when HAL is being turned off actually were really neat. And then Bloodborne is a macabre dream and fits my personal tastes beautifully. So there is nothing wrong artistically with these two properties. I just think that I had such strong reactions to them despite them being similar.
Anyways Eileen the Crow is hot and HAL 9000 can get it. Send post.ย

Sweet Dreams
Submission for this meme posted by @halenvar.
Aranya woke with a groan, pulled a breath in deep and blew it a way on a heated sigh. There was a light sweat dampening her silky black hair, her sun-fair skin was flushed and warm. At the juncture where her thighs met, there was a fist-sized spot of dampness upon the sheets of the grand bed in which sheโ€™d slept. Evidence of what dreams had been in her mind through the night and into the morning.
Tumblr media
The sorceress arched her back with a soft moan, partly from stretching and partly from the unaddressed arousal that made her bones itch and her blood hunger. Aranya rolled over with a soft growl in in her throat, green eyes flashing like an animal, her soft slender fingers reaching over and clawing a fist into the sheets where her husband had been sleeping beside her the night before. It now lay vacant at this hour, as the warrior had risen early - as most good warriors often did - to see to his own care and affairs. Training, bathing, setting their home to rights, patrolling the area with Nalfir if the weather was good.
Aranya breathed in another sigh, rumbling lightly in her throat, her luminescent eyes blinking slowly, her fingers clenching like claws and her hips squirming just a little, as a cat wishing to pounce something. โ€œWhere the fel are you?โ€ she whispered to no one.

okay i definitely want to make my own palette(s). I want a Bloodborne themed one and an Outer Wilds themed one. because i love them both and i have legitimately burst into tears thinking about Outer Wilds. If I could make the Hatchling in Sims, I would but alas I do not think I can. but still, I love Lunu and Gabbro and Hal and Chert and ALL OF THEM IM GONNA CRY AGAIN
okay. okay. i'm fine i'm normal about this game (lie)
It's going to be lots of blues and greens and purples I feel. I want to include the colors I use for the characters in it.
I'm not on my pc right now so here's a screenshot from my word doc of cast colors:
Tumblr media
As for Bloodborne, that's gonna be lots of darks and reds. Also more cast colors shhhh I never get to talk about these or share them because they serve no real function but i worked hard on these colors
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ignore the Elden Ring characters, they're in there because I'd started writing Teagan (my Bloodborne hunter) in Elden Ring before I started playing Bloodborne. Elden Ring will not be part of the palette.
Should I just turn my cast colors into a palette? separated by fandom? I already have actions for a bunch done..... I don't remember how they look on the clothes though.....
WAIT SHIT I GOTTA GO LATER

Sekiro has one big similarity to Bionic Commando, and it's not what you think
Tumblr media
Spoiler Warning: Sekiro, Bionic Commando (NES)
Progress in Sekiro is meted out through challenging boss fights and punctuated with scenic, relatively safe traversal sequences that enhance the sense that youโ€™re on a textured journey thatโ€™s headed somewhere. Fairly early in the game, after youโ€™ve found your initial footing and conquered a few lifebars bearing fancy names, the game pulls a fast one on you: As youโ€™re scaling some cliffs to get to the next part of the game, a snake roughly the size of Godzilla glides into viewโ€”filling your viewโ€”and looks at you like youโ€™re the last donut hole in Boston. What was supposed to be a rejuvenating slice of downtime is suddenly the most stressful situation Sekiro has placed you in so far. A harrowing stealth sequence ensues, where you must divide your time between hiding and madly dashing for the next hiding spot.
Eventually you escape into a cave and get on with your life without confronting the beast, but a new seed of anxiety has started to sprout; eventually youโ€™ll have to confront this thing. Itโ€™s Sekiroโ€™s way of shaking the confidence youโ€™ve spent the first chunk of the game building. โ€œYou think youโ€™re all that because you beat an eight-foot ogre who started the fight in shackles? Sit back down, insect.โ€
Tumblr media
From then on, the Great Serpent becomes a sort of sinister mile marker, dividing your journey broadly into acts with recurring reminders that your successes donโ€™t mean youโ€™re not still a tiny worm on a giant fucking cosmic hook. At one point it ambushes you on a rope bridge, leaving you floating helplessly in the water below. Another time, you find its shed skin adorning the scenery. ย
In my many hours and playthroughs with Sekiro, Iโ€™ve come to learn that there is some variation to the order in which the gameโ€™s key events may unfold, but on my first playthrough, Iโ€™d done just about everything possible before finally emerging from that Sunken Valley cavern to find the Great Serpent nestled asleep on a cliffside a few hundred feet below. Iโ€™d acquired the Mortal Blade as well as all the ingredients for the Fountainhead Incense. The dreaded Guardian Ape was dead, then undead, then dead-dead. It was clear I was about to enter a new, late phase of the game, but then there she was, once again laying watch over my only path forward.
Tumblr media
I edged forward on the overlooking wooden beam, scanning for grapple points or other escape options. There were none, but I was startled to find I could lock onto the slumbering Serpentโ€™s head. Ah, I thought. This is the fight Iโ€™ve been dreading all along. Nothing left but to walk the plank and wake the dragon. I gulped, wiped the sweat off my palms, and dove . . . .
As I plunged, I was again startled to see the familiar red smudge of a Deathblow opportunity appear on the Serpentโ€™s head. I spewed some fragments of syllables as my finger scrambled for the R1 button. It registered and Sekiro readied his sword in midair. Unexpected as this was, it occurred to me that many boss fights had begun this way, with a Deathblow opportunity that knocked off one of the bossโ€™s multiple life bars. There was no special reason to think this would preclude a grueling fight, until, that is, Sekiro tore his sword through the Serpentโ€™s uncaring reptile brain, drenching the entire landscape in a downpour of strawberry rhubarb jam and leaving the Serpent a dangling dead decoration. The fight was over before it had begun.
Tumblr media
Iโ€™ve already commended Sekiro for being FromSoftโ€™s first game in the โ€œSoulsโ€ template not to be centered around discouragement, but this dramatic display of leniency was downright motivational. It was like your drill sergeant surprising you with a pizza party instead of the expected twenty-mile march.
โ€œItโ€™s fucking dead?!โ€ I said out loud to my wife in the other room.
โ€œWhatโ€™s dead?โ€
โ€œA snake in a video game.โ€
โ€œOh.โ€
But to me it was astounding. This colossal demon, whose prime function up to now had been to keep my confidence in check, had now fallen to my little blade in one of the most spectacular shows of player triumph Iโ€™d seen in my more than thirty years of gaming. What Iโ€™d thought was the gameโ€™s way of saying โ€œYouโ€™ve havenโ€™t accomplished as much as you think you haveโ€ was ultimately the gameโ€™s way of saying Iโ€™d accomplished more. Even this impossibly large beast, this divine manifestation of terror itself, which had made every other adversary look puny and insignificant, was now dead. What a shot in the arm! There was no stopping me now.
Tumblr media
After finishing Sekiro, I realized this moment had been instrumental in creating the lasting impression that, unlike Dark Souls and Bloodborne, Sekiro never seeks to discourage or punish. It also contributed heavily to the dynamic contour of the whole experience, which is a major thing I think Sekiro has over my beloved Nioh. It aspires and succeeds at being more than a game with a predictable loopโ€”itโ€™s an odyssey of diverse sights and experiences, and the Great Serpent kill feels like the centerpiece. My favorite moment of Sekiro.
Some time later, I had a shower thought: Bionic Commando on the NES, one of my all-time favorite games, had done something very similar more than thirty years prior. The Japanese version of the game includes Hitlerโ€™s Resurrection (ใƒ’ใƒƒใƒˆใƒฉใƒผใฎๅพฉๆดป) right in the title, but in America itโ€™s not until the climactic showdown that you even know itโ€™s a game about defeating Hitler. Until then, your ostensible adversary is Generalissimo Killt, an imposing, sneering, decorated man with all the trimmings of a fictional fascist. He taunts you face-to-face early on in one of the gameโ€™s RPG town-esque neutral zones, where you have no recourse even though your bionic arm could surely crush his skull like a grape in a condor beak.
Tumblr media
When you finally meet again, Killt stands regal before a towering stasis chamber with a human figure floating within. He says something menacing about โ€œMaster-Dโ€ and a โ€œrevival device,โ€ makes a threat on your life, and then the encounter is cut short by an apparent electrical malfunction. With a powerful jolt, the device unceremoniously kills Killt before he can even try to make good on his threat.ย
The floating figure within the chamber slowly emerges and speaks. Despite his censored name, the pixelated portrait that accompanies his dialogue box is unmistakableโ€”an eerily lifelike rendering of Adolph Hitler. I was six or seven when I first witnessed this moment, but thanks to Momโ€™s yearly Yom Kippur tradition of breaking out the Holocaust picture book, Hitlerโ€™s stony visage was already imprinted upon my brain. He was my boogeyman, the subject of recurring nightmares, and now somehow heโ€™d invaded my video game. This real-life association made him formidable in a way no other video game villain could touch (no, not even Mike Tyson). It was personal and terrifying in a way no game had been. In an instant, the stakes of this adventure soared sky-high. Hitler was the Great Serpent, a terrible titan sent to ambush your confidence.
Tumblr media
After his grand entrance, Hitler unleashes upon you the โ€œAlbatrosโ€ [sic], a hulking, amorphous war machine outftitted with rhythmically spewing flame vents and a pulsating organ. A tense fight ensues, putting your swinging and shooting skills to the ultimate test. Finally, the Albatross explodes in a screen-filling spectacle of pyrotechnics, and you emerge on an elevated precipice just in time to hear the dying words of a wounded comrade, Hal: Hitler is getting away in a chopper, and itโ€™s up to you to stop him. Even the ultimate test had fallen far short of stopping this monolithic evil.
Hal hands over a bazooka and instructs you to aim for the chopperโ€™s cockpit as you leap from the precipice. You edge forward, scanning for grapple points. You gulp, wipe the sweat off your palms, and swing . . . .
Tumblr media
As you plunge, you fire off a single shot. It strikes the glass. You land.
โ€œYour numberโ€™s up! Monster!โ€
Now bear in mind that up to this point, only the weakest enemies in the game had died in one hit. And this wasnโ€™t just any adversary; this was the biggest possible bad. As with the Great Serpent, there was no special reason to think this one shot would preclude a grueling fight, until, that is, Hitlerโ€™s cranium exploded in a starburst of strawberry rhubarb jam, the gory detail intricately rendered in four disgusting frames of diverging skin, teeth, and eyeballs.ย
Tumblr media
The fight was over before it had begun. What appeared at first to be a demoralizing escalation of the gameโ€™s peak, was in fact a spectacular way to pat you on the back for making it this far. It's like they shoehorned Hitler into the game at the last minute just to let you blow his head up. For a little Jewish kid, that was just about the tastiest proposition a video game could offer.ย
The more I ponder these two moments, the more they feel like twins. The dissonance of the antagonistsโ€™ grandeur with the world they inhabit. The ease with which you reveal both to be false gods. The extreme use of gore to convey the weight of your achievement. They even both hinge on a do-or-die attack performed in free fall. Considering Sekiro also stars a grunt with a bionic arm, I have to wonder if there werenโ€™t some Bionic Commando fans involved in its conception.

Hal Tanaka, Richard Topham, Soren B (I donโ€™t trust myself to spell that name correctly?
Hal Tanaka: Have you ever cheated in school? - absolutely. all in high school (i only didย โ€œsome collegeโ€ anyway.) definitely cheated on algebra homework. got thru AP american history copying a friendโ€™s homework like the whole time and used to write notes for chemistry tests on my arms in norse runes (yes, the very ones i learned form CUR.)
Richard Topham: Have you ever seen a psychic? - no, i havenโ€™t. i wouldnโ€™t trust one anyway.ย
Soren Bergursson: If you were a villain, what would be your weapon of choice? - halberd for sure. but then.. maybe i should be less publicly into halberds if iโ€™d pick that. anything from bloodborne would be legit (besides the kirkhammer sorry i donโ€™t buy the hype) because then it would be, you know, real in the first place.
