Note: I’m aware that not all everyone in every community represented on this list considers themself disabled. As an outsider, it’s not my place to say- they are included because some people in these communities do consider themselves disabled, especially with many being spectrums where different people will experience different severities.
Cosmoknights - Amputee side character (major character in book 2)
Nimona - Amputee main character
Before the Devil Knows You’re Here - Dyslexic love interest
The Spirit Bares its Teeth - Autistic main character, autistic side character
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue - Love interest with epilepsy, main character becomes deaf in one ear, MC with anxiety in the third book of the series
To Shape a Dragon’s Breath - Autistic major side character, wheelchair user minor side character
A Lady For a Duke - Love interest with PTSD
Cemetery Boys - Love interest with undiagnosed ADHD (confirmed by author)
Into the Drowning Deep - Autistic character, two Deaf characters
Don’t Be a Drag - MC with depression and anxiety
Iron Widow - Wheelchair user MC with chronic pain
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet - Little person character

uhh hello!! sorry if this is a tall order LOL but I wanna ask, do you have any narilamb fanfic recs? :D I already read yours and I really like bamsara’s and I’m waiting for epicaandk’s to update (that one is my fav ever <3) but idk what to read now lol
Tall order?? Naaaaah, I'm always happy to give recs. Oh boy, I'm gonna go in reverse chronological order.
If you've read all of my narilamb fics (have you seriously? I'm impressed, that's probably well over half the 150k+ I've written for this damn fandom. Also, to anyone seeing this from a reblog, my stuff is over at onethirdofimpossible!) then here we go!
You already mentioned it, but The Rehabilitation of Death is excellent so far! This one is by @bamsara who is new to the CotL fandom but apparently not new to fanfic writing; they have a really popular FNAF fic and I assume the well-deserved attention this fic's been getting is a byproduct of the popularity they've already gotten in other fandoms. :D Welcome, bamsara! Many of the fic writers in this fandom are friends with each other already, but we don't bite if you wanna say hi.
Feel No Evil and Language Barrier, both by @payasita. I always love how payasita portrays this duo (in both digital art and writing), with so much sass and repressed loneliness, knowing they're stuck together for eternity and making the best of it. (And maybe falling in love, depending on how dense Narinder keeps being.) What makes these come alive for me is how well thought out the setting is outside the Lamb and Narinder. The descriptions and weight of emotions really pop here.
LITERALLY ANYTHING written by pavi / @i-eat-deodorant. Depending on how spicy you want your fics to be he has even more here. Character analysis, diction, pacing, etc. are consistently 10/10. Top-quality banter between a sassy Lamb and tired old man Narinder. We constantly bounce ideas off each other and inspire each other a lot but I promise I'm not hyping him up just because he's my friend oh my god please just go bless your eyes.
It Was For You, O Death by blueberry-muffin-massacre (if they have a tumblr, let me know so I can tag!). An intriguing alternative ending to the final battle wherein the Lamb chooses a secret third option by refusing to give up the Red Crown and still observing Narinder as the God of Death. So many details are so well thought out and duality their relationship is nicely characterized-- both genuine care for each other and also quite unhealthy. A fine line treaded well!
Confessional by jusmove (again, lmk if they have a tumblr). Been a while since I've read it, but I love how the Lamb chips at Narinder's very carefully built emotional walls. Their personalities are very well fleshed out here, especially Narinder's cognitive dissonance at being able to process love.
Confession by @thewitchoftheweed. I didn't expect a part two to this one, but my god I was so thrilled when it did update. Narinder and Lamb with their unique and parallel loneliness and their fucked-up sense of everything. Their relationship is very rocky here, and I love how they navigate it: with tension and eventual, pained acceptance. Mind the rating.
Of Character Development and Being Dense by @calliecature. A short and sweet narilamb classic. They're both mutually pining and one of them is too emotionally repressed to realize it. Guess who.
Not An Offering, But a Gift by @checkplzjuliet. Small confession fic. I especially love how Narinder's descriptions twist the knife of his situation here, and how Lambert is a total foil for him! There are a lot of good things happening in such a short span, which is impressive.
Also, if you think you've read all my narilamb fics... I do have a secret one out there too. Just so you know.
Happy reading!
I'm already friends with many of the people here, but if any of the writers I've tagged have been kinda wanting to reach out for a while but feel a little anxious... Don't be. I've made my best friends in this fandom by literally just waiting for some of my readers to get over whatever assumption they have that I'm cool and say hi. Or being the more confident one first.

OH MY GOD!! Cosmopolitan has released chapter 2 of Apprentice To The Villain as a sneek peek!!!!
Obviously they couldn't post chapter 1 since that would be major spoilery because it's from another character's pov neither Evie or The Villain's
I'm gonna go read it now but Hannah just did a LIVE on Tik Tok and there were a lot of people who said that it HURT! So I'm just a teeny bit scared right now. BUT LETS GO!!

(alt text: in the background is the Disability Pride Flag, in front of that is the book covers of: Out on a Limb; The Luis Ortega Survival Club, True Biz, Blackwater, The Spirit Bares Its Teeth, and The Heart Principal)
It's Disability Pride Month! Here are just a few books I really liked that would be fitting to read this month :)
Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young - a contemporary romance where a one night stand leads to a pregnancy they decide to navigate together (and both love interests have limb differences)
The Luis Ortega Survival Club by Sonora Reyes - a ya novel about a largely non-speaking autistic teen who's raped by a boy she thought was her friend, who grows a community of people who help one another along a path of revenge and healing
True Biz by Sara Nović - a book about several students and an administrator at River Valley School for the Deaf navigating changes in their lives and their sense of community, and fighting for their autonomy.
Blackwater by Jeannette Arroyo and Ren Graham a YA graphic novel about a badboy teen jock, a quiet boy with an autoimmune disorder, and the spooky things that live in their town. Werewolves and cute romance included.
The Spirit Bares Its Teeth by Andrew Joseph White - a YA historical fiction horror which takes place in an alternate 1883 London where violet-eyed mediums (men) commune with spirits under the watchful eye of the Royal Speaker Society. When a trans autistic boy is diagnosed with Veil sickness, a mysterious disease sending violet-eyed women into madness, he's shipped away to Braxton’s Sanitorium and Finishing School, where the ghosts of missing students beg for his help. even tho it's ya, it is horror and the themes are very heavy- check out trigger warnings.
The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang is about Anna, who is facing career burnout in a flakey relationship, embracing an open relationship at her longtime boyfriend's suggestion. Instead of the string of one night stands she planned on, she finds someone who accepts her and helps her understand herself. Their relationship is derailed when a family emergency puts even more weight on Anna's shoulders until she finally has to care for herself. This is a contemporary romance, but the subject matter is pretty heavy and the protagonist experiences a prolonged period of autistic burnout

✩🦄❤️Review:
These books have quickly become comfort reads of mine!
“Apprentice to the Villain” follows Evie Sage as she becomes her outrageously handsome evil overlord’s apprentice to save both him and the Kingdom of Rennedawn’s magic.
Evie and Trystan made me giddy with joy! Their romantic tension heightens as the two are put in situations they would only fantasize about. I was left feeling satisfied and not (in a good way because I don’t want this series to end!) as they inched closer towards coupledom. While the slow burn is truly infuriating, there is nothing I would not endure for them.
I really appreciate how Maehrer leans into the found family element with this book. The added points-of-view shed light on the backstories of characters new and old. Learning more about what Evie went through as a child and the sacrifices she had to make informed my understanding of her character and the growth she underwent in this story. She steps out of her comfort zone and learns new skills to embrace her new role as Trystan’s apprentice while holding on to her kind, gentle, and optimistic personality. I think that is what I love most about Evie—she never loses sight of what is important to her, her softness included!
This series is so ridiculously fun and I cannot wait to get my hands on book 3!

Did anyone else wanted more from Henry in Icebreaker by Hannah Grace?? Just me? Because he was such a sweet nonchalant character. He was a really good side character. And Although he wasn’t for the storyline, he did when my heart a whole lot!!! After I finished Icebreaker, I felt over dizzy for Henry. Till now I cannot stop thinking about what more can he be. I want to write a character like Henry. Speaking of character, Hannah is really great at writing. And character development is amazing! Such a good author!

Do you have any favorite traditional fantasy novels? I’ve read the Kushiel’s Dart & Captive Prince series and am on the lookout for more.
Those are two of the series I would have recommended! To be honest, I haven't read a lot of traditional (I assume you mean classic second world adventure fantasy) fantasy since i was teen: I tend to be more drawn to contemporary fantasy, urban fantasy, weird fiction, slipstream, and similar genres right now. But I'm leaning back into reading some of the classics as I go.
I read a good chunk of Mistborn and loved the magic system and the worldbuilding and just stopped because I had trouble connecting to the characters, so that might be a good book for another reader. I of course love Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicle's books but those are more gothic fiction, hmm....Honestly I think Hannah's Whitten's Nightshade Crown series captures the feel and sweep of classic fantasy with a super lush, atmospheric, romantic twist. Similar, The Seven Deaths of the Saint by Alix Harrow is yes, experimental and a bit more literary, but you cannot tell me it doesn't capture the mythic, world-ending, out-of-time quality of classic fantasy.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Spread the self-love 💗(hannah your writing is also so vibrant, i love it!)
ahh thank you azia!! I had to think a bit about which ones I wanted to include.
the well-being of friends - calantha + estinien (mid hw)
The bottle is the problem, clearly. He grabs it. “I have no intention of doing so. Give me that.” “I’m using it,” she hisses. He can smell it on her breath. She clutches it tighter, pulling it against her chest. He tries to yank it free. She jabs him with her elbow and loses her balance, flopping to the ground.  “Ugh! Fine,” she snaps. “If you’re so bent on bothering me, sit down. We can share. I can spare some for a friend.”
blame the rain - calantha/hien (post sb)
Before she can think better of it, she speaks. “Hien?” She murmurs his name, afraid of what she will ask him. Truly a terrible idea, Calantha.  “Would it help you forget your troubles if–if I kissed you?”  He laughs softly, a short breath between his teeth. “Would it help you?” Thunder rolls again, but she pays it no mind. His face is close, too close, breath warm on her cheek. Calantha cups his face and gives her answer on his lips.
new friends, old fears - calantha/hien (sb, pre-relationship)
She can see the creature now in her mind, oozing its way up the creek, stalk eyes bulging, searching— She grits her teeth. “Don’t use this against me,” she hisses, striding after him. “If I wake up with snails placed anywhere near myself or my belongings–"  Hien laughs. He shakes his head. "It would be improper of me to use this knowledge so. Never fear. You can trust I’ll keep it far from your enemies."  Calantha catches him by the shoulder. "And friends?” She lowers her voice with a glance at Gosetsu. “Don’t you dare tell any of them about this, or–” Cirina emerges behind her, holding a canteen. “What’s this about?” Calantha jumps at the sight of her.
the sunlit spark - calantha/hien (post sb, pre-relationship)
He laughs. “You’ll have to try harder, then.” In a desperate effort to escape he does the first thing that comes to mind.  In one motion he grabs her waist and hurls himself backwards. She yelps as she falls forward with him. Her lance drops and Hien breaks free of her. The ground strikes his back as he lands –unfortunate, but if he’s quick, he can salvage this.  Calantha catches herself on her knees, lance in the grass. She plants her foot to rise just as he sits up with his arm raised, ready to place his katana at her throat– The sun is in his eyes. He misjudges the angle of his blade, almost thrown from his hand in the fall. Calantha knocks the weapon from his grasp. With her lance in both hands, she pushes him down, laying the haft under his chin.  “Yield,” she says, with a breathless smile still on her lips.
to drive the cold winter away - calantha/haurchefant (pre hw, also pre relationship this particular moment may not be canon anymore idk yet)
She wrenches her hand from his grasp. "No. What’s the use of people’s trust, if I can’t do what they need me to?" Her lance clatters to the ground as she stands up, her voice rising. “You expect me to simply move on from this? I could do nothing to save them. The fact that they needed to save me means that I failed." Her words tear from her lips. She turns her back on him as tears spill onto her cheeks. She can’t make herself look at him. "Calantha. You must believe me.” He stands. His voice is gentle, but firm. "They had hope for you to fight another day, even if they might not live to see it themselves. You trusted their choice. It is foolhardy to blame yourself for that." "Then what should I do?" She laughs, but it comes out half a sob. She dashes her tears away on her sleeve. The wind stings her cheeks and whips her violet hair around her face. Haurchefant steps toward her. He holds his hand out. She looks at him for a moment, torn. "Would they want you to mourn them so? Full of guilt and regret?"
thank you so much for sending this!! it just makes me determined to finish more of my wips 😂

What do you think of this: Narinder becomes sick and Lamb decides to take care of him (not without locking the house with Narinder refusing to stay in bed) but he becomes totally delirious in his fever always calling them and causing them trouble in the house while they're trying to cook a medicinal soup for him
OH GUESS WHAT MY DUDE my mutual @empressofkingfishers JUST wrote a narilamb sickfic that may appeal to you. ENJOY

Some stuff from Hannah's live on TikTok:
Evie is a Sagittarius or any fire sign. The Villain is probably a Libra. The other characters she wasn't really sure. Tatianna is probably a Virgo and Becky a Taurus, Kingsley an Aries and she wasn't sure about Blade.
There will be more Kingsley in book 2
The Villain's name is inspired from Gilmore Girls and Stardust. Evie's name spawned into Hannah's head for no reason.
Apprentice To The Villain in 2 words would be: Action and Tension
Hannah listened to "So Close" from the Enchanted movie soundtrack while writing the dance scene with Evie and The Villain in book one
Evie and The Villain are definitely inspired by Olicity from Arrow
Kingsley's favorite hobby is eavesdropping

𝐌𝐘 𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐒 (4/?) | Meet Me on the Equinox
by @lostinfic
ʜᴀɴɴᴀʜ ʙᴀxᴛᴇʀ x ᴀʟᴇᴄ ʜᴀʀᴅʏ, ᴇ, 50ᴋ+
She often thought of visiting a new country as flings. The way they occupy all your thoughts and that anticipation of seeing them. You want to know everything about them. There’s always more to discover and experience. You can’t get enough, but you know it can’t last. And in a way, that’s the best thing about it because you only have time to see the best of them. You must enjoy it while it lasts. When it ends, you’re sad and miss them, but, in all honesty, you wouldn’t settle there permanently. She was only ever faithful to London. Or perhaps she had yet to find the one.

I know you said you’ve gone back into it slowly but any book recs?
yes absolutely!! i have read some bangers lately tbh. also another thing i am trying to do is start uuuh reviewing what i'm reading so i will link a couple of those as well. but here is a sporadic collection of my reading enjoyments of the last year or so!
IF FOUND RETURN TO HELL // THE DEATH I GAVE HIM by Em X. Liu
em is hands down one of the best writers i know with prose that will punch you in the face and leave you asking if you can have another, please.
IF FOUND RETURN TO HELL is a queer found family novella featuring a done-with-this protag working in a wizarding call centre who abruptly comes down with a case of 'sweet angel baby boy possessed by demon hell child' in a broken magical healthcare system where following protocol is more important than like, helping people. so what is journeyman wen to do if not, you know, help anyway?
THE DEATH I GAVE HIM is the queer scifi hamlet retelling of my dreams, which is funny because i didn't care about hamlet until this book taught me how to. a thoughtful exploration on the nature of adaptation, death & immortality, and also what happens when your best friend is an AI and you wanna fuck him.
IN COLD BLOOD by Truman Capote the original true crime novel. still stuck in my truman blorbo moment. full review here
ASSASSIN'S APPRENTICE by Robin Hobb classic 90s fantasy with surprisingly emotional focus on the protag in a way i really dug. unhinged levels of accidental queerbaiting in a way that i enjoyed rather than despaired of. full review here.
PANDORA'S JAR: WOMEN IN THE GREEK MYTHS by Natalie Haynes a great overview of classical women that takes into account multiple sources and the way they have been read over centuries, and how the time in which a tale is being told affects the tale just as much as what the text of the story actually is. does a good job of walking the middle ground between like, historical sexism and the reflexive girlbossification instinct.
IN OTHER LANDS by Sarah Rees Brennan the queer harry potter offshoot we all actually deserve. portal fantasy with an acerbic main character who will save the world out of sheer spite because the world doesn't seem to think he can save it, or want him to do it even if he could. a genuinely lovely musing on the nature of loneliness, what abuse does to a child, how it's hard but possible to overcome the prejudices you learn when you're young, and how eventually, you're going to have to make the decision to let yourself be loved.
SHE WHO BECAME THE SUN by Shelley Parker-Chan truly i don't have the word for how fucking excellent this queer epic fantasy is. set in mongol-ruled china, this book is a masterclass in political intrigue, historical fiction, military fantasy, and also genderfuckery. feat. the kind of tragedy you see coming for several hundred pages and still takes your breath away when it hits, and also lesbian fisting. anyone who says books based in history can't get queer can get fucked.
A MARVELLOUS LIGHT by Freya Marske for a total 180 in mood, here is your queer romantic fantasy set in an Edwardian England that is reflective of the fact that like, queer people did in fact exist in Edwardian England. A lighter fare that nonetheless will hit you right in the heart and leave you delighted that a) there's a second book out now and b) the third one is coming soon. also Freya is an Artiste when it comes to writing good sex scenes, which
i belatedly realise it seems like i'm focusing on in this post but i just! like a queer text that tackles queer sex with nuance and interest and the horror and/or joy of the body, and the above authors are all fucking masters at their art (which includes, but by no means is limited to, writing about fucking)
