“Uncanny visions arise in my mind: of timeless evil, and a battle older than the earth, which has been fought before on countless worlds, in forgotten ages. Even after this battle of Lanka, the war shall be fought again and again; until time ends, and dharma and adharma with it.”
—Prince Ram🏹🙏
Hindu Mythos Moodboard 4/?, Diwali special edition. Wishing you all a festival of lights filled with joy and prosperity! ✨🎆🪔
It's your idea; you want to share the Diwali celebration with him, and you love the fireworks displays, the beautiful colors created by the ignition of different elements mixing together.
Bucky is quiet. Quieter than normal. He clutches your hand like it's his only lifeline. He startles at every explosion, every bright light makes him twitch, and the crowds make him feel like he is being suffocated.
It's only after he squeezes your hand harder than he intended that you notice the distress on his face. The way his eyes dart from side to side as if he is waiting for someone to pounce.
You have a pair of your earbuds in your pocket, which you slip into his ears, pairing them to your phone and turning up the volume until he can no longer hear the loud bangs.
He lets you lead him to the back of the crowd where you sit down and enjoy the rest of the show with his arms wrapped around your waist.
When it's all over, he holds you close. "Sorry about that. I know this is important to you."
"No, Buck, I'm the one who should be sorry," you apologize. "Next time, we can do something different."
This year, I put these diyas as a hope and plea for peace. I find it in poor taste to do a 'Dhoom Dhaam Dhamaka' wali Diwali, when over 10,000 people have been killed in Palestine by the occupying Israel, despite the pleas for a ceasefire and protests for peace. I don't really have many resources to inform you guys of how to help, but the least thing we all can do is be a little bit more active in being informed and not fall for misinformation, and not contribute to the fog deliberately created by the Israeli government.
And not just because this is the 'prominent issue of the day' but its an issue that has globally exposed western neocolonialism to the world. Its an issue that we're all connected to- whether its Kashmir or every single time Adivasi people have been pushed off their land to bring in 'development', or the ongoing persecution of the Kuki zo by the Meitei community (that's been going on since MAY mind you).......we're all connected in this struggle.
And that is why, this Diwali, I urge you all to be more aware. To see the reality of the world and how we are being pitted against each other in petty fights when someone else benefits. To be kinder, to empathise with experiences that are different to yours and LISTEN. Listen, and do not throw your judgement before you have listened.
And remember when, out of the blue, Sam and Caitriona decided they were celebrating Diwali?! ... November 2020... And Sam showed up in London a week after these posts... to film scenes for Love Again...
