Jeeeessssuuuusss fucking Christ, this is probably my favorite Roosmav genre now. When it comes to enjoying top!Maverick, I need Maverick's energy and emotions to match my own regarding bottom!Bradley, and I enjoy it most when Maverick has this kind of fervid love and utter devotion to his boy. omg my impact……. here’s some of my top picks but honestly the terror has maybe the highest quality-quantity ratio of fic i’ve ever seen and i think it’s because none of us are 14. can’t go wrong with just skimming the tag but here are some of my all-time favorites:

1. take my hand (take a hold) by ME! this is a self-plug but if you find my enthusiasm endearing maybe you’ll humor me. postcanon solittle on the scottish coast doing. hm. normally.

2. forever united here by still_lycoris. this one is so good it pisses me off if i think about it too much. lieutenantfailcule. this is just the real john irving it’s TOO good it’s upsetting.

3. the groundskeeper’s almanac by shortcrust. chaaaanged my life and will change yours. the blueprint. the inherent eroticism of the scottish countryside. hogmanay. postcanon solving that will and i cannot stress this again change your life.

4. everything that rises must converge by hazelmotes. this is a four-part series and though i generally don’t gaf about joplittle its good here and the solving will make you crazy. i would KISS you and NO ONE would DESPISE me!!!!!

a better question would probably be "do you ever stop nurturing fic ideas?" 😂 at any given moment, there are at least ten fic ideas rattling around in the lobster pot i call a brain, most of them half-baked and vaguely formed; some of them with some actual substance and merit to them.

lately, i've been overtaken by a nefarious subset of particularly horny thoughts regarding a certain first lieutenant from a doomed arctic expedition and all the various ways in which his anger and frustration at his captain's questionable leadership might manifest... which i wholeheartedly blame on matthew mcnulty's line delivery of, "you were told not to speculate", along with that delicious little lip-curling sneer he does when he says it.

granted, it's not really sharing an idea so much as it is Thirsting After That Middle-Aged Man™, but i figured if anyone would understand, it would be you, curry ❤️

65. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project

as everyone and their mums probably knows by now, i'm currently busy with several wips. but the ones i'm most proud of and probably the most eager to finish are my terror lieuts vampire hunters/dhampir!jops au, and the sequel to two cupped hands; both of which are sitting at about 35% completion rate. unfortunately, i haven't had much motivation to write lately, and so the actual completion of said wips remains a sisyphean task at present. that being said, i'm nothing if not stubborn, so if it takes me ten more years to publish either of those wips, so be it. i know they'll find their audience regardless of how much time passes 😁

a very difficult question because wow! there are so many that i love and re-read and adore but! the three current ones would have to be

i) since last we met by blazeofglory — a masterpiece of jirving emotions and what i consider to be The malving manifesto, so chosen because i’m utterly obsessed with them atm. perfect characterisation of william malcolm. very sweet and tender

ii) two cupped hands by kameo_chan — an incredible joplittle omegaverse fic featuring stressed, yearning edward and certified minx thomas jopson, i’m lucky enough to have the privilege of hearing em’s future plans for this au and i’m just! in love with the concept and her writing

iii) the comforts of home by hazelmotes — the essential joplittle fic. required reading. permanently altered my brain chemistry and how i view these characters. even when i want to go back and read a lone scene i end up re-reading the whole fic, it just pulls you in so well and i weep every time. a heavy read, be mindful of the tags, but so cathartic as well

I don't think fic makes me cry often (though I am a person that gets verklempt easily). This one is tricky, too. On the non-f1 side, I'm going to throw and yes i said yes i will yes by hazelmotes (Bradley/Maverick, Top Gun) gets me misty eyed. It's just.... hittin all the right places of curtain fic for me. Secret marriage! A lil bit of feminization! Everything these guys are to each other after so many years!

Tied for this on the f1 side of things is be your boy by @garage-gremlin. Gremlin has perfected the two column format for maximum emotional devastation so be ready to be punched in the face. Similar to above, stories that can make you really feel the heaviness and timeline of a relationship acutely get me emotional and this fic is nailing maxiel right in the 'what might have been' feelings. Okay okay okay - truthfully, one of the reasons I used to not consider bottom!Bradley was because I knew I wouldn't shut the fuck up about it if I let myself think about it.

Also, I do legitimately cease being a Roosmav when I read it. I sink fully into my dreaded Reader x Rooster brain, and while a passage like this is viscerally amazing for me to read, I feel like a cuck reading it, too. Why is Tom Cruise (a Scientologist) getting to do what I (not a Scientologist) want to do, which is finger beautiful Bradley? It's wrestling simultaneously both with a lot of my deepest desires and a lot of self-loathing.

Banging Rooster is one of the closest things I have ever wanted for myself, so I was always going to be very intense and specific about it. But I will keep it all to what's positive and say that goddamn, this really hit it out of the ballpark.

When they headed out to Mojave following the mission, Bradley wasn't expecting Mav's trailer to be the most difficult thing to deal with.

Oh god the PINING. Bradley is so in love and so thirsty. There's an angsty undercurrent to this fic that I really love, and the writing is fantastic.

From the time he’s very young, all Bradley wants is to find true love—the kind of all-consuming, soul-satisfying love he hears about in his mom’s stories of his father. And it is, perhaps, the greatest injustice of his life that he’s pretty sure he’ll never get that. It’s hard to build any sort of meaningful relationship with someone when everyone you fuck finds their true love almost immediately after.

This was such a sweet and fun fic, I loved the slightly cracky premise. Truly a joy to read.

This is so beautiful and intimate, with some very hot possessiveness and codependency. I'm in love with their love.

This author writes almost exlusively bottom!Bradley, and I could have picked pretty much any of their fics for this list, but… This one is my favorite because of sicko reasons. (No underage sex in this one, but it's implied that Maverick was into 17-year-old Bradley)

I'm not usually a big fan of horror, but this was just the right amount of spooky for me. This fic is amazing, but it's pretty intense, so I'd recommend opening a fluff fic in another tab to read as aftercare. :D

25. a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read

Hazelmote’s The Ties That Bind. It’s a really beautiful exploration of the trauma inflicted on left handed kids and how that could have influenced Little’s personality as an adult, and Jopson’s acceptance and understanding is just… yeah. Emotions and sexiness aplenty in that one.
