Eleven years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Aurors Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy are forcibly brought together by a new case that's bound to reopen old wounds. Enter a Firewhisky problem, prejudices that never really go away, and an obsession as old as time.

They all talk about it, what Harry’s done, all the lives he’s saved, turning his achievements into legends, his life into myth. But all he’s left with, in the hours of the night when his apartment is empty and no evil at the other end of the wand to fight off, are his mistakes. Those he has to mourn by himself, crack open and untangle and put to rest alone. He’s never quite managed to. “I did it,” he breathes, voice gravelly, like the words are cutting into him on the way out. “I deserved it,” Malfoy replies. His voice sounds different. It makes Harry look at his mouth. Makes him want to crawl out of his own skin. “I don’t know if we did. Not anymore.” His hand moves of its own accord, fingers twitching when they touch the silver line in the middle of Malfoy’s chest, a surge of electricity traveling all the way up his arm, down his spine. It feels a bit like touching the past, all the things Harry’s been afraid of concentrated right there, in the pale expanse of skin. The muscles in Malfoy’s chest jump at the touch, but he doesn’t pull away, so very warm in Harry’s hands. “We all have to pay for our sins,” he says, and in spite of it being almost a whisper, it fills the entire room. “The price of mine is just more visible.” Harry knows he doesn’t only mean the scars on his chest. He wonders if back in France, Malfoy can dare to show his forearms. “Yes, well—I wish we could stop. We were just boys.” Harry presses his thumb to the scar he’s been tracing, watching the skin around it turn red. How hard would it be, he wonders, to claw into Malfoy’s chest. To dig himself in, to hide himself there. The one place no one would think to look. Malfoy grabs his arm, and Harry thinks this is it, he’s gone too far. But Malfoy doesn’t stop him, doesn’t push him away. Instead, he lets his fingers brush the inside of Harry’s wrist, feeling the flutter of his pulse. He’s gentle, so gentle that it makes Harry want to bite even more. “We were never just boys, and if you still think that, you’re more of a fool than I thought.” Harry doesn’t answer, spreading his palm over the silver marbling, and Malfoy’s holding onto him, still, as he presses in, walks his hand all the way to his throat. There’s a touch of red to Malfoy’s ears, a sheen to his forehead, but when Harry catches his eye again, his gaze is smouldering. It strikes Harry, like lightning, that for all his cowardice and wimpiness as a child, Draco Malfoy might just be a braver man than he is. He doesn’t know what else to call this, his ability to call things by their name like it costs nothing. Because when Harry talks, all he seems to do is break things.

Fic: The Boys of Summer

It's officially fall, so why not post about a fic that takes place during August? Makes sense, no? Lol.

I had such a pleasure participating in this year's @hd-wireless fest! I got an amazing prompt for Don Henley's 'The Boys of Summer' from @wolfpants and tried really hard to capture Draco being helplessly in love (and being an idiot about it) while spending the summer at a lake just after eighth year.

Harry’s not sure why he’s started hooking up with Malfoy. Boredom, or the heat of the summer, maybe. Whatever it is, it’s nothing too complicated. Right?

Well, well, well. Look at what we have here. If it isn't Drarry coming in hot with that hate sex, mystery arson, and angst with possibly HEA. When I saw this prompt for @hd-wireless, I immediately thought of SEXY ARSON DRARRY and knew I had to claim it. The hate sex sorta just flowed from there. I had a lot of fun (like a LOT of fun) writing those scenes 😂.

Wireless 2022 Fic Claim - Away

I participated in Wireless this year and I’m so proud of the result! I had this great idea of a non-linear story-telling reflecting the strange way time passes during a road trip, it was the first time I tried something like this so it took a few tries to get it right (In other words, I rewrote the first chapter at least three times, changing the POV, at some point there was a funeral in there... anyway! I think it worked out well!). I really like the metaphors and the writing style I used in this one, I hope you’ll like it too!

I wanted to thank @curlyy-hair-dont-care​, forever my favourite cheerleader, who agreed to help me even if it was cutting very close to the deadline, and without her I’m pretty sure I would still be fiddling with the story, unable to know when to stop. Ri, you’re the best, thank you for your kind words and encouragement, I’m so grateful to have a friend like you to count on when I’m overthinking everything <3

Title : Away

Song prompt : “Sleep on the Floor” by the Lumineers (also I made a playlist for this fic, you can listen to it here if you’d like!)

Summary : After the war, Harry follows the script; he becomes an Auror and works for the greater good, he stays the perfect image of a Saviour that everyone needs. Until he doesn't. A story about finding yourself by running away, road trips and second beginnings. 

Word Count : 16k

Excerpt : Harry turned his attention to the road again. In the last hour, they had only encountered cows in deserted fields. He had no idea where they were – it was oddly freeing, as if they were floating in water, their heads turned to the sun. Two sunflowers, side by side, oscillating in the wind.

Harry leaned his elbow against the car door and let his hand dangle out the window. The wind brushed against his palm, waves of cold air, so refreshing against his burning skin.

They were driving slow enough to render any driver on the M25 mad but here, there were no angry drivers late for work, only miles and miles of fields stretching in every direction. It was overwhelming, this never-ending road, only punctuated by the low rumble of the motor.

Harry wondered what they would find at the end of the road. More roads to follow, perhaps. An endless staircase, bringing them right back to where they started. Or maybe the road would just peter out into nothingness, fading into the grass alongside it… the way the world stretched in all directions until it stopped, abruptly, when you were climbing the stairs, between one step and the next.

“What are you thinking about?” Draco asked, his voice gentle.

Harry turned his head to look at him. The sunlight falling on his hair made him look younger, softer, in a way he hadn’t been years ago. The shadows of the war had etched out of his face – a wave receding with the changing tide – taking the hatred and the pulsing rage with it.

‘I was thinking of ends of beginnings’, he wanted to say. ‘I was thinking of how I know where we started but I have no idea where we’re going. I was thinking of winding staircases and intertwined lines and how this road could lead us nowhere, or it could lead us everywhere, or maybe it will do both at once. I was thinking of beginnings of ends.’ But he had no idea where to start, so he only shook his head.

“Do you know where we are?” He asked, instead.

LA, Who Am I To Love You? by me 💕

finally got around to binding my @hd-wireless fic from last year! Faced some technical difficulties but I’m happy with my design choices & how they reflect the vibe of the fic! Featuring art by the lovely @babooshkart and a praise page with comments from @stationintern, @tackytigerfic, @sitp-recs, and @skeptiquewrites among others (all the comments on that fic gave me life! tysm 💕)

Materials:

Dupioni silk which I made into bookcloth for the covers

Fonts: Brim Narrow, Rage Italics (California license plate font)

HTV: Siser Holographic Vinyl (would not recommend from this experience, but also my tools are suboptimal so could be a me problem!)
