"Stop saying Crowley won't help Aziraphale in S3 he'd go back to him in a HEARTBEAT and nothing would stop him" I get it no one likes the idea of Crowley being bitter after what happened for a long period of time but like can we at least acknowledge that he's currently going through probably the most emotional pain in his life since falling? Can we agree that he's opened his heart entirely - something you couldn't pay him to do unless the world is literally ending and he's desperate - to Aziraphale, and got shot down? Can we understand that he did it AGAIN only to lose Aziraphale again? Not that what Aziraphale did isn't without Crowley's own shortcomings (hiding the truth of Heaven's cruelty from him) but like,,,,

The appeal here isn't Scorned Crowley Doesn't Love Aziraphale Anymore, or Never Wants To Help Him Again, the appeal here is Crowley learning enough self respect to not just walk back right to Aziraphale like nothing happened after Aziraphale has had a pattern of consistently refusing him. Going years ping-ponging between "We're not friends I don't even know him" to "That's what friends are for right?" and "We're friends, why would you even say anything?" and "Friends? We're not friends. We are an angel and a demon!"

Like I get it, Crowley is a heartbreakingly forgiving person. Of course he's gonna forgive Aziraphale, I'll be surprised if he didn't forgive him by the time he walked out the bookshop door, but gdi he could at least grant himself the luxury of being at least a little irritated for longer than however long it takes to make a globe and some books float and angrily cry out to God in his flat. But due to the change of pace and dynamic that is establishing part of the conflict for Season 3, I just really like the idea of him for ONCE prioritizing himself and being like "Okay, fine. We'll get back at it when you're ready, then," instead of just taking Aziraphale back like his words and actions meant nothing to him, when clearly they have an effect on him.

What is Aziraphale going to learn if Crowley just accepts what he did so quickly, like he always has the entire time they've been friends? Idk maybe I'm just projecting too much darkness on their dynamic but I mean, if the pattern of Aziraphale pushing Crowley away/disrespecting him one day and then being fine with his friendship the next + Crowley never stopping to be like "Hey, that's not cool, at least give me a little credit" or smth was fine all along and will continue to be fine in the future, then why, after 6,000 years of being friends and loving this demon, can Aziraphale still not accept that Crowley is just fine the way he is, and instead got excited to promote him to an angel in a heartbeat once the opportunity presented itself? You can't blame all of it on Heaven when Aziraphale has demonstrated his free will/defiance to Heaven so many times. Or, I don't know, I guess maybe we can? Maybe I'm just craving too much angst to the point where I'm letting it cloud my analysis of canon. Idk.

Hey here's an angle on the Jiang family dynamic and its impact on Wei Wuxian that I haven't seen discussed:

Wei Wuxian grew up seeing Jiang Yanli routinely having her agency cut off and denied in both large (betrothal) and small ways. That were largely tied up in her gender, sure, but this was also a family containing Yu Ziyuan. A daughter in this household had every chance of having her gender treated as of secondary importance.

She just had to earn it.

The way Jiang Yanli was hemmed in and her potential as an independent actor dismissed was at least as strongly correlated with her failure to be a powerful sword cultivator.

So Wei Wuxian's total refusal to let anyone know that he'd lost access to his cultivation and his violent reactivity against being diminished or condescended to during his Sunshot-to-death period, when before he was pretty immune to being looked down on, could have a lot to do with having been presented with this clearly labeled diagram of how your personhood gets stripped away when you are, by the standards of your society, disabled.

After ozai’s defeat, they finally take a break and go on the fishing trip they lied about. And it’s amazing, and fun, and Zuko’s heart is aching throughout every second of it. What I am gathering here…is that Sand will keep taking people back regardless of what they do to him. This cycle actually only stops when they throw him away for good, not because Sand draws boundaries or has a sense of self worth.

With Ray showing up and saying “I’m sorry” this episode, Sand reacts with joyful tears. Over and over he takes this man back. And now about Boeing: Sand was clearly bitter about Boeing getting with Top and is resentful of Top for the majority of the show. Yet when Boeing appears before him, Sand like leaps off the stage to talk. Where’s the resent Sand? It doesn’t exist! Instead Sand asks him if he got that job he applied for. Insane my guy lolol.

And now two people are vying for him and he’s going to have to make a decision for and by himself.

The mentions of protagonism in that Jiang Cheng meta post really got me thinking about just how hard scum villain works to push you out of and, in typical sv fashion, make fun of analysis that defaults to assigning morality based on a character's role as the protagonist or antagonist.

I mean, it spells out its subversion directly in the title: shen qingqiu, protagonist of scum villain, is the scum villain. And therefore, luo binghe, the one who ultimately kills him, is the hero. And shen yuan DRILLS this into the reader constantly-- binghe is the protagonist, so everything he does is justified, ESPECIALLY taking revenge on the antagonist. For as much as the story is about shen yuan trying to change his fate, he's blind to the fact that any of his actions could ever change the role he's been given in this life, as the unjustified, antagonistic scum villain. Everything he does is ultimately bad because he's the villain, everything binghe does is ultimately good because he's the protagonist! Simple!

Except it's not, because the reader can see sqq being kind to his disciples, binghe forcefeeding sqq demon blood. Their actions are so visibly contradictory to the roles sqq has assigned to them that it becomes comedic- and it's with this that scum villain introduces you to shen jiu: the true scum villain, a beaten and abused child, made bitter by being abandoned and determined to work his way up to the top to take revenge on all who wronged him. A character that even shen yuan, who hated him with such obsessive vitriol, couldn't help but feel deeply sorry for. That's because in the end, shen jiu is a parallel to binghe: the antagonist is the same as the protagonist, the protagonist is the same as the antagonist. They're both complicatedly, inexplicably, human characters.

Something wild to see in the Slur Reclaiming discourse is a trend by well-meaning idiots to concoct a fantasy world where the slur was invented by the affected community as a neutral or even positive descriptive word, and then it was later stolen for use as a slur by the bigots, who are now attempting to retroactively rewrite history so that everybody thinks it was always a slur, and that everyone who insists it's a slur and isn't onboard with the reclamation effort is secretly doing the bigots' work in rewriting history, even though

This has basically never happened, they basically all started out as pejoratives and were then used as self-identifiers by those targeted by them. Yes, including that one that you saw a tumblr post explaining "the history" about. Yes, and that one too. And that one.

If this narrative were true, the act of reclaiming a slur would be the most defanged, pointless, milquetoast gesture imaginable. There's only any weight in using slurs as self-identifiers if they are, at their core, slurs.

I understand it's tempting to absolve yourself of responsibility and tell yourself that people who hate hearing those words, regardless of context, are simply misinformed at best or being unreasonable at worst, but if you can't handle the fact that those people are right about those words being offensive slurs that do harm to them, make the decision that using them anyway is the right thing to do in spite of that, and take responsibility for the impact your choice might make, then you aren't even mature enough to be using cuss words, let alone reclaiming slurs.

I watched the BC movie with friends and I have a lot of thoughts about it. I loved the animations, the voice actors, the fights, the teamworks. It’s a must watch movie for every Black Clover fan.

However the movie also reminded me why I think Clover Kingdom is a shitty hellhole of a place with no hope for changing and that Julius is an incomptent Wizard King and the Black Bulls should’ve been vigilantes or anti-heroes or their own self-proclaimed squad untied to the system that is built to discriminate them.

I like this series but it’s full of hypocrisy and pro-authority agenda that were only ever truly highlighted by Zora before he also ended up indirectly serving it.

bummer how common it is for ppl remove the very strong and realistic assets of Eggman's narcissism and what it adds to him and who he is and his identity, behavior, and actions, stripping him of it and creating excuses or exceptions as a reason to change it, just to make him more personally palatable

I wanna see more of it being considered and reflected! I love all the different ways it shows in his character from subtle to bold. the Egg Memos did this perfectly but people gloss over it, pretend it isn't there and only focus on the things they can say are so wholesome and cute but just miss the point

Eggman is narcissistic and that's cool and awesome and sexy and I hope to be able to consider and respect and represent that as accurately as I can 💜
