Steve walks into his house—HIS house, he would emphasize—to find his two favorite people wrestling on his couch.

For a second, the bottom drops out of his stomach. It's knee-jerk, even though he knows better. But they are very wrapped around each other, twisting and writhing, and it's pretty easy to get the wrong idea. Until he looks closer and realizes the wrestling is a lot more... violent, than sexy.

He watches, shocked into silence and stillness, as Eddie chomps down on Robin's upper arm. Robin screeches and yanks Eddie's hair. Steve feels un-easy in a different way now, like maybe this is devolving into an actual physical altercation instead of some friendly tussling. He winces when Robin gives Eddie a rather vicious purple nurple.

"FUCK, I give, I give," Eddie screams, limbs releasing her to curl protectively around himself.

Robin bounces up cackling, rumpled and sweaty. Her victory grin is vicious when she turns to Steve.

"Hear that Harrington? Your ass is mine tonight!"

Steve stares at her in fear. "What?"

"I get cuddle privileges tonight," she declares, still a little breathless. "And Eddie gets to sleep on the couch."

Behind her, Eddie looms before he jumps on her back, dragging her back down with a war cry. Steve watches them for a moment as the curse at each other for cheating, before going upstairs and locking himself in his room.

"Where were was the mad scientist AU post yesterday, Four??" Man. I have the right to remain silent, anything I say can and will be held against me in the court of law. I also have a right to an attorney and if I- Lan Wangji is, as previously mentioned, not somebody who has ever really had friends. He doesn't know how to talk to people, he doesn't want to talk to people, he doesn't want to hang out with them. He just does not bond with human beings whose names do not begin with 'Lan' (and even then, he's very particular about who he associates with within that category). He gets saved by an attractive boy of the enemy, and then is trapped within a cave with that same boy (even though that boy could leave if he wanted to) He finds himself bonding against his own will through sharing the love of his home with him and then almost dying to defeat the monster keeping them trapped within the cave itself. He leaves that boy, and only silently worries about him, not speaking to Nie Huaisang even when he knows that he's communicating with the boy.

When the boy is pronounced dead by a single letter, Lan Wangji feels a guilt bury itself in his chest, one that really makes no sense. He should have helped, yes, but he barely knew anything about this boy! He doesn't like people, he doesn't bond, this boy is just an unfortunate casualty, one that emphasises the monstrous of the Wen clan in and of itself. Despite this feeling, he also feels an impossible pang of pain every time he thinks of that boy who smiled and laughed in possibly one of the worst situations of his life (so far). He feels a guilt that eats him up when he's reminded of him, and wishes he could have done something to stop the fate that was handed to the boy himself. When Nie Huaisang tells him there may be a chance for him to help the boy (who may not be as dead as he thought), he of course agrees to it.

Fast forwards to after seeing Wei Wuxian again on the battlefield and offering to play Cleansing for him when it's necessary. Now, I don't need to repeat myself when I talk about Lan Wangji and people generally - so, while he's built up this idea of Wei Wuxian in his head, he has no idea how to act around him. He knows literally nothing about Wei Wuxian, not entertaining rumours (something all Lans should do), so he is sort of freaking out when he goes to the first private Cleansing session. Nobody else is going to be there, and he can't really gauge much about Wei Wuxian's personality apart from the fact that he is very chatty and very smart. He finds where Wei Wuxian's tent is, steps in, and immediately gets an eyeful of the man's bare chest because he's just casually lounging around on his bed in just his pants.

Listen. Objectively, Wei Wuxian's state is terrible - you can see his ribs, there's blotches of resentful energy blemishing his skin, the scars of course, and the fact he has the skin tone of a literal walking corpse. However, he is still the most attractive man Lan Wangji has ever seen, and he's got an almost suffocating desire wrestling with the burning need to care for this boy in his chest as he sits down upon the mat provided for him. As he sets up, Wei Wuxian goes on about how he's a 'special kind of fucked up' so he gets his own rooms, and Lan Wangji just specifies that he's actually very important and people wish for him to be as comfortable as possible during his long term healing process because they care about him. Wei Wuxian goes quiet, and is a sort of strange red shade when Lan Wangji looks up at him. Probably feeling warm, Wen-guniang had specified that his quarters should be as warm as possible due to Wei Wuxian's apparently lowered body temperature.

Lan Wangji starts playing Cleansing and, at first, Wei Wuxian can't really sit still, rolling off his bed and splaying himself out onto the floor, but as the music starts to work its magic, he eventually relaxes, and even dozes off still sprawled out onto the floor. The resentful energy is of course not going to be affected by only one session of Cleansing, but there are certain less dense patches lightening up on his skin upon close inspection. It's purely medical and clinical, okay. He just wants to see how one round of Cleansing can affect the level of resentful energy crawling around the boy's body. It's NOT GAY. It is also not gay to scoop Wei Wuxian up into his arms, worry over how light he is, and then gently place him back onto his bed roll. It's certainly not gay to take off his outermost layer of robes and drape them over the boy; he doesn't know where his robes are, and it's RUDE to snoop!!

He packs away Wangji and leaves Wei Wuxian to sleep, knowing (from asking Wen-guniang about everything wrong with him) that he has been dealing with a lot of sleep deprivation even before being thrown into the Burial Mounds. Lan Xichen, unfortunately, intercepts him on his way out and immediately notices that he's missing a layer. Cue his gege teasing him mercilessly while following him back to his tent under the pretense of 'ensuring his didi grabs another layer'. This is painful, and it happens every single time that he has a Cleansing session with Wei Wuxian. Meanwhile, Wei Wuxian himself wakes up wrapped in Lan Wangji's robes and goes "ah, the gay thoughts I have been avoiding because I had a lot going on at the time". Yes, my friends and lovers, Wei Wuxian is aware he's a cutsleeve because Wen Qing sits him down exactly once after the Xuanwu incident and goes "I think you might be really into Lan Wangji" and Wei Wuxian is like "yeah that checks out."

#22.4 Result

Even though his team had more members, Khun did not anticipate the speedster in Agni's team who managed to steal the princesses' tags in just a few seconds. Basically leave half of his team's fishermen immobile right from the start.

Khun managed to stop Dan with lighthouse flow control, and Rak was able to steal Dan's black tag. Yet Agni managed to undo the flow control and free Dan before Rak could take back the tags that Dan had stolen.

Endorsi was then given Laure's tag and fought with Gyetang, while Anaak was given Shibisu's tag and fought Agni along with Rak. Ran didn't lose his tag and had been countering Novick since the start of the game. Surprisingly, they seemed to be on par with each other. Khun didn't know who won by the end, since he was too busy trying to catch Dan, who managed to steal Hatz's tag at one point. 

Suddenly, his lighthouse was no longer being interfered with by Agni, and only then he saw that Endorsi had joined hands to fight Agni after rendering Gyetang immobile. With Agni's attention diverted by three main powers, Khun was finally able to immobilize Dan. However, he only managed to retrieve one white tag, since all the other stolen tags were already handed over. He gave the white tag to Hatz to get him back into the game, but by that time Gyetang was also back on his feet, so they were sent to fight each other.

Ten minutes went by too fast. Khun slumped to the floor and finally took some deep breaths. Clearly, Agni's team didn't go easy on them, and he was lucky enough to keep his tag. 

"I see you've given your best." Agni said as he caught Ran in his arms before he fell face flat onto the floor. Ran must've swallowed the lightning pill halfway through the fight, and Khun didn't really know how to feel about that.

Khun looked up to the second floor balcony where Bam and Grace were talking. He could feel the corner of his lips pull up when he saw Bam looking bashful as Grace ruffled his hair.

"Gather up everyone," Agni called them, still holding Ran's limp body. He looked like he was about to pass out himself, though. Handling both princesses and Rak all by himself while still assisting his other team members was really impressive in Khun's opinion, even if it was only for ten minutes. 

Everyone, including Agni's team, sat down in a loose circle, exceptions being Ran who was laid down in front of Agni and being tended to, and Laure who was sleeping soundly on the floor behind Hatz. Most of the others looked worn out and some were even hiding a limp, but the moment Gyetang and Dan started to excitedly recount and compliment everyone, his team was easily drawn into the conversation.

Bam and Grace came to join them a moment later, bringing bottled water and a first aid kit. Grace offered to check on each one of them, which unsurprisingly started from Agni. Though Khun declined his offer when it was his turn. He didn't get any bone-shattering hits, so he was fine. Grace didn't look happy with it, but he moved on.

Meanwhile, Bam distributed the water, bandages and ointment. Then he decided to go sit near him and Rak, to Khun's delight. It felt like their missing puzzle piece was finally fitted back into place. 

"It's nice…to be with everyone again." Bam mumbled to himself, yet Khun heard him clearly. And so did their friends, who were looking at Bam wistfully.

Bam was holding his knees that were folded close to his chest, making him look small and closed up. Golden eyes were shadowed from view by his long bangs. It was like there was still an invisible wall that divided him from everyone else, keeping him unreachable. Khun itched to touch him, to get rid of that wall and pull Bam back to him, to what they used to have.

There was so much yet so little to talk about, and Khun felt himself hesitating, especially with this many eyes on Bam. He finally understood why Agni set the tag prizes as is.

Khun touched Bam's arm with his fist, and smiled tiredly when Bam turned his head at him. "It's good to have you back, Bam." 

Many emotions flashed in those golden eyes; disbelief, fear, sadness, hurt, longing, relief, joy. Even though he had heard the story from Bam, Khun still couldn't imagine how much suffering Bam had gone through during all those years they were apart. How lonely he must be, and there was nothing Khun could do to fix what had been done. But when Bam finally smiled back, crooked like he just fixed himself back together, Khun vowed that he'd never let anyone take anything away from Bam ever again.

yknow I've been thinking about what dream looks for in friends and lovers and I've noticed that it's not necessarily people that are mean to him, but people that are direct. dream himself deals in metaphor and manipulation, it's simply what he is, so just about everything within his realm that he's encountering consistently will be such that as well. considering both his own tendencies, the environment it breeds, and his whole Thing about guilt and choice, it makes sense he would choose people who are clear and honest with him. he wants someone who will tell him how it is, but not what to do with that—even when it's not really what he wants, dream knows it's what he can need. I think that's why figures like lucienne, matthew, death, and yes, mervyn can be important! on some level, dream knows he's convoluted and shifty by nature, and he's tried to combat that with concise words and mind-melting beauracracy, but it can't fix everything. he likes people to keep him in check and I think that is the most self-awareness he has ever been capable of. so... clap? no? idk. nod acknowledgingly.
