elyan was born in the 13th century to aegar the uncrowned and kerina slytherin. his family had long been embroiled in a bid for power over all wizardkind and thus he grew up surrounded by politics and warfare. elyan's younger brother was theodric, born under the prophesied comet and thus his father always favoured him, raising him to one day take over the rebellion, although he was the younger son. elyan had a strong military mind and he commanded his father's army. he was also intelligent and better suited for leadership than his brother. elyan and theodric didn't get along, and elyan resented theo for being the chosen one. despite not having been born under any comets, elyan had the affinity for fire magic that ran in his family ever since the days of vela the blood-witch and eadric spinebreaker. he was also a parseltongue from his mother's side. when elyan was 18, his family was attacked by a group of vampires sent by his father's enemies. elyan and theodric were both turned into vampires, while their mother was killed. their father aegar was not present at the time of the attack but began feverishly searching for a cure for vampirism when he found out. eventually, he was left with no choice but to cast a spell on his sons to make them sleep so the secret of their condition wouldn't spread. he continued looking for a cure until his death. elyan and theodric were left under the enchanted sleep, only waking up hundreds of years later in the late 1870s, when they were discovered by proteus gaunt, a member of their mother's line. his blood awakened the brothers and they rejoined society, attending hogwarts again. while at school, elyan changed his name into elian and began using his grandfather's old epithet goldcrest as a surname. he befriended malcolm stolberg-burke and primrose gray as well as met and fell in love with a muggleborn hufflepuff by the name of henry of alderly. the two were together until henry's death decades later. as the years passed and the brothers didn't age, they went by several different names and identities. elyan's goal was finding the crown his father and grandfather had worked on, a proto-deathly hallow that could offer anyone who wore it unlimited power. they attended school again in the 2000s, once albus dumbledore was out of the picture (due to his interest in the deathly hallows). elian continued serching for the crown and faced opposition when others, such as gabriel grimm also tried to get his hands on it. despite the rocky start to their relationship, elian and gabriel did eventually get married. as for theo, elyan always had a complicated relationship with his brother but ultimately they loved each other and knew the value in working together.

the only reason Tim Drake and Damian Wayne don't get along is because if they did the writers wouldn't be able to come up with a plot contrived enough for them to struggle with.

Diana is working. The night is dark and cold, and as she turns to look out the window, she thinks once again of her island. It never was so cold on Themyscira. Winters in New York have a way of sinking to your soul.

In the quietude of her office, knocks on the door seem all the louder, and tonight is no exception. Diana stands and walks to the door, where she opens it to find a young man, still a child but on the cusps of adulthood.

"What can I do for you?" Diana asks.

"I didn't know where else to go," the boy says, and she can see bruises under his pale blue eyes. "I'm sorry, I-I need your help, please."

"Tell me," she says, as she looks behind the boy for any sign of trouble, but they are alone on the street.

"My younger sister," the boy starts. "She's in trouble and I don't know what to do."

"Come in," Diana says as she opens the door wider. "Let us talk inside."

In the cold dark night, the figure of a boy, almost a man, walks into the warm inviting light of the building.

A few seconds later, the door closes behind him, and the street is once again bathed in shadow, frozen by the hour and the chill.

adam is so spectacular because. well

he is with his friends 50% of the time, working the other 30%, studying for about 20% of the time (sleeping never) but is still top of his class in everything. as soon as he moves to harvard he collects a group of sad gays and lies to them about his whole life and then scams rich students into fake tarot readings despite being an actual psychic. he can do so much as place a fist on a wall when he’s mad because he can’t be like his father, but he’s forgiving and he asks for one last chance to build a relationship with them until he leaves for college, and when they refuse he goes on his merry way. when he loses control of his hands gansey can’t even imagine stopping him almost kill them all because, well, he’s adam. he quietly turns eighteen and he confronts weird men and he helps a sentient forest kill a man and he’s worked his whole life for the chance to leave his childhood house, so doesn’t accept offers, even if they are free and better than what he can afford. he knows gansey’s number off by heart and instinctually calls him when he is found passed out on the side of the road. he is just wonderful

These two lines in the movie make me the most mentally unwell.

"I should have been the one to go. You needed your mother more than you needed me."

The amount of layers to this, oh my god. He's blaming himself for being alive. He probably wants to die. He genuinely thinks Adrian needs Emilie more.

And it's been YEARS since Emilie's passed away. Look how tiny Adrian is over there, he only just about comes about the bedpost. Gabriel still looks like he did in the pictures of when Adrian was little. It's been literal years. It could have literally been a full decade ago.

And Gabriel breaks the narrative here. He's supposed to be telling a story, he's supposed to be saying what happened in the past. But at this point, he doesn't say "your mother was taken from us" or anything like that referencing Emilie's passing. The story breaks, he's using a statement. I should have been the one to go. It's completely out of the story, because he isn't saying what he felt then, there's no "I felt like I should have been the one to go". It's just "I should have been."

Because he still thinks this. It's been about a decade, and his opinion, his feelings about this, is still "I should have died". It interrupts his storytelling because of how strongly he feels this way, almost like it's a fact to him.

And then he follows it with "You needed your mother more than you needed me." Again, he says this like it's a fact, like Adrian actually did need his mother more. Because he believes it himself. And this could be because of so many things. It could be because of the way people consider the mother to be the one supposed to care for the children much more than the father, or it could be that Gabriel himself didn't see how much Adrian needed him, or even that Gabriel didn't see himself as useful to Adrian. Especially because he said he should have been the one to die. He's essentially saying he was useless. That he was expendable but Emilie wasn't. He literally is implying he doesn't see any worth in himself regarding being a father.

And then it's not just his grief, it's Adrian's grief that has him desperate to bring Emilie back. He literally doesn't care about himself, he wants his son to be happy and doesn't see himself as able to do that. He loves him to the point of being suicidal and self-sacrificing if it would give Adrian what he need, all while simultaneously not seeing himself as what Adrian needs because he doesn't think he has that much worth regarding him.
