I like bloodweave. Okay. But I DON'T like the version of them in fanfic where Astarion is a dick and Gale is like. Whining and pleading for him to be emotionally vulnerable (or just. Nice to him) prior to the relationship being established. Because that is just not accurate. Gale needs the player to express interest in him during his weave-teaching scene before he even considers hitting on them properly. Gale is entirely resigned to his fate and needs someone else to pull him away from it. Gale only starts being sweet and romantic and devoted after you accept his love confession and give him hope for the future. Gale says fuck all and then slinks away to cry privately if you break up with him.

Like he isn't chasing after people lmao. He isn't dropping to his knees and crying about anything much less this dickhead he met a week ago. He is overwhelmingly passive about literally everything personal to him up to and including his own death (provided there are no casualties/there is a good reason) until after the player expresses that they care about him. Astarion is not doing that in any of these fics.

Like Gale is friendly and a dork and doesn't wanna get murdered but he fully has a suicide plan. He thought the artefacts would help him survive but he didn't believe he'd ever truly live again. If Gale confessed and Astarion said/did like one (1) mean thing afterward Gale's romance is closed off forever. He's wandering into the forest to cry. He's killing himself immediately. His fragile ego and self worth can't take it. You have to understand that when we joke about him being pathetic it's not bc he's like. Sopping wet and chasing people down and begging for a scrap of attention. It's because he craves affection but would literally rather die than ask or even hope for it until someone else forces that hope back into his serotonin-deficient tadpole brain.

he's henrys favorite afton as a teen and he knows it. and he uses it. Henry fuckin loved that kid he had the man wrapped around his finger. William also notices it and he gets mad at henry over it.

Kichiku Megane Review (kinda)

So mh…I started this game in 2021 and only recently have finished it……I have no excuses for this, it just took so long. Anyway, Kichiku Megane is a very well known BL game. It came out in 2008 and was produced by Spray. I played some spray games before, and they’re either hit or miss for me. So, lets get into the review~

Warning for discussion of 18+ content

Story

This story is about Saeki Katsuya a weak, pathetic office worker who, one day after another pathetic day at work encounters the mysterious Mr. R in the park. Mr. R gives him “special” glasses that make him confident and make all his wished come true. There is only one catch, once Katsuya put on the glasses he becomes a super ultra sadistic Megane, who enjoys nothing more than raping his victims. You as the player can decide now if you want to go the Megane way or the normal Katsuya way.

It’s pretty simple, Megane Katsuya tops everyone, normal Katsuya is always bottom. Some love interest can be top or bottom some can only be one. But no matter who, once they’re with Megane Katsuya they’re pretty much fucked (literally)

Lets make something clear in the beginning, this is mostly a parody game of all these evil Megane character tops and shouldn’t be taken too seriously, but despite that, I wouldn’t say I actually enjoyed much of the game, sure Megane Katsuya is funny in the beginning, but if you’re not into H-scenes and rape jokes it get’s boring very fast, which it did for me.

As for the office plot, I had to keep myself from not falling asleep (one reason why it took me forever to finish this). It’s very boring if you’re not into it. Katsuya works for a company that sells drinks with funky names and a good portion of the game is revolves around this, with Katsuya being Japanese he will of course put all his life into his jobs. And if you’re not play rapist Megane Katsuya its mostly just office plot.

Characters

Katsuya (see picture above)

Like mentioned Katsuya has 2 personalities, his weak (original) self and the Megane self, which could be almost counted as his own character. Normal Katsuya is very weak and pathetic, due to some trauma he suffered in middle school. He is kindhearted and a good worker but, but still often ends up a loser (I feel you Katsuya). Due to that he is easy to step on and some of the Love interest take that as an advantage. In some of the routes he actually develops a stronger personality and becomes more confident. Megane Katsuya is sadistic, overconfident and loves to torture people. Almost all of his routs ends up with the Love Interest stuck with Stockholm syndrome. This man also has an obsession with sticking random things in people’s butts. If you remain with Megane Katsuya he won’t be able to return to normal Katsuya anymore, even after putting the glasses off. There is even a bad end in which Megane Katsuya is even too evil for Mr. R and he kidnaps Katsuya to punish him lmao. 

I honestly didn’t enjoy neither Katsuyas. One is too weak and pathetic and the other is just an asshole and I don’t like these type of assholes.

Midou

Midou is Katsuya’s boss, and another asshole. He is very confident and proud. In his route Katsuya has to work with him for some new product they are selling.

His route was the first one I played. The moment Katsuya puts his glasses on he turns shitty rapist who uses Midou for his weird kinks or whatever and act all sassy with him, which was kinda funny in the beginning but as it keeps going, it starts to get boring. The route is basically just torture porn, with Katsuya abusing Midou until he turned into a soulless shell, and that was when Katsuya finally notices, that he maybe, should stop his “bullying” and abandons Midou. But of course, Stockholm syndrome hit Midou so hard that he suddenly gets his mind back and is all like “Katsuya I can’t live without you T_T” and reunites with Katsuya in the old dramatic Russian movie way and suddenly they were lovers, or something. I don’t know it was weird, and I didn’t really care?

If Katsuya doesn’t become the rapist, he will be raped. Midou turns big asshole energy on him and blackmails him (forgot with what, I played the route over a whole year in 2022 whoops) and uses Katsuya for his kinks or whatever. Of course, there is one scene where he is all “Katsuya you’re doing a good job” after Katsuya says he is worthless as a worker and Katsuya goes all “omg director Midou uwu dokidoki” and later confesses to him after more sexual harassment from Midou. He was all like “I don’t know why I like you, you treat me like shit and yet I still like you” yeah Katsuya I know why you like him, because Stockholm syndrome. Midou is confused in the beginning but decided “eh whatever might as well” so they finish their job successfully and it ends with Katsuya asking what Midou feels for him and Midou is like “aishiteruu” (I love you)……Bitch what?.

Katagiri (glasses)

Katagiri is the sweet naïve ojisan of the love interests, he is Katsuya’s manager and supporting him during his project. You can only play him with Magane Katsuya (probably because having to pathetic men wouldn’t work out well)

This route is basically as the same as other Megane Katsuya one. Katsuya helps Katagiri with something, so he invited Katsuya for dinner (already a mistake). Katsuya (in his sadistic Megane pride) shows up and immediately starts his evil plan to treat the poor Katagiri as shitty as possible. Katagiri makes another mistake by saying that he will do anything for Katsuya, since Katsuya is working so hard, so Katsuya first release the man’s pet birds and lets them fly out the window and then sexual harass him. This harassment continues with Katsuya raping him a few times after that. Katagiri is also so stupid enough to show up at his house (Stockholm Syndrome hits him very fast). So, somewhere along the line, Katagiri gets used to the constant rape and for some reason starts asking him for it, which leads to Katsuya getting bored and dropping him, because it’s not fun if he can’t force himself on Katagiri (……………. Okay). Followed by a “dramatic” scene in the rain where Katagiri clings to him and begs him not to leave him, because he now feels not like the loser he was before since his child died and his women left him. Katsuya is like “whatever” and just fucks off. After that there is more “Katagiri is so depressed” moments where he even wants to quit his job. (Katyua is still like “whatever”) So someday one of the bird Katsuya release flies in his apartment and Katsuya decides to bring the bird back to Katagiri, because it doesn’t want to leave alone, which he does. Arriving at his places Katsuya sees that he even plans to move out, so he talks to him and is suddenly like “oh no actually I totally like you, don’t quiet your job” like?????? Minutes ago, he didn’t care and now does? No development, no explanation, just very random confession. Katagiri of course is all happy and they live happy ever after.

Yeah, a very strange route, whith no development. I honestly can’t say who annoyed me more in this route Katsuya’s super sadistic rapey-ness or Katagiri being so unbelievable stupid and naïve. This old man was just so pathetic it was painful to watch, I was glad when I finally reached the end.

Honda

Honda is Katsuya’s bestie from university, they both were member of the volleyball club and now work together. You can play him both with Megane and normal Katsuya

So, this will be funny because I actually have forgotten what happened in this route…. I mean I played it over a year ago, but consider it’s Megane Super S Katsuya we all know what happened, well I do remember some things. Katsuya was pretty mean as always to Honda and somewhere along the way raped him. Honda was later kidnapped by a former classmate who was mad at him because of some stuff he did as the volleyball club captain in university. Katsuya had to show and saved his ass and of course it all ended with them being happy together….I really don’t remember anything I’M SO SORRY T_T Oh yeah in one of the endings Katsuya shows up to the place Honda was taken and just tells his kidnapper to do what he wants  AND JUST LEAVES ahdhhsj KATSUYAAA anyway he gets stabbed right after it by the dude, Karma winning again lol.

Honda as top was the best route to be honest. Not only did Katsuya actually grew as a character, but Honda was also a pretty good as a love interest…. Later on, before he wanted Katsuya to stay weak and a loser because Katsuya would rely on him…HONDA YOU LITTE FUC- *clears throat* anyway he improved later on. Of course, no route without a little Megane Katsuya harassment, which was the reason for drama in the beginning. But after it, there was a decant amount of (not forced) romance with Honda confessing and even waiting for Katsuya to respond. And even if you let Katsuya reject him he still wouldn’t try to do anything to Katsuya so yeah that was nice. Also, their H-scene was the one I actually read in this game (and they even used lube and condoms, god bless).

Aki (glasses)

Some shota who hangs out in a club and the first “man” Katsuya sleeps with after turning into super S Katsuya. Aki is annoying like you except a shota to be, and apparently still in fucking school bruh. I….aslo don’t remember much about his route actually but here it’s whatever because he is just horny for Katsuya’s D and that’s basically all. This route has no real “happy end” because it ends with Aki becoming Katsuya’s play toy (by his own free will), no dating, no confession, nothing. Not my thing, I don’t like shota and this had basically no plot.

Taichi (no glasses)

Taichi works in a café, or restaurant? Katsuya likes to visit often. Taichi doesn’t like Megane Katsuya so you can only play him in Normal Katsuya version. And I have to apologize again because I don’t remember the route…. It was too long ago, but I what I remember is that their relationship was actually really good with well development. But once again, we also had a Megane Katsuya moment where he decided he has to rape Taichi…god free me from this, I can’t take that anymore. Also, Taichi is actually part of a yakuza family lol. The route wasn’t bad as far as I can remember but for some reason Taichi just wasn’t my type and I can’t even explain why.

Mr. R and Bonus material

The more endings you finish the higher your chance is to get a “extra story” from pomegranates Mr. R gives you, which are 90% made of some horny fantasy stories of Katsuya fucking or getting fucked. We had classic things such as (plant) tentacle rape, threesome, gang bang and fat hentai ojisan (like why????), selfcest and Mr. R sucking Katsuya’s dick (lol) and there was one (more interesting) story about Katsuya school days. You see, Katsuya wasn’t such a loser always he was sociable and had friends, but through some trauma caused by one of his classmates who he thought as a friend, he became like he is now. In this story it shows that Mr. R actually already appeared to young Katsuya and told him about the glasses.

The very last bonus story broke my last brain cell, it featured normal Katsuya covered in cream and fruits getting fucked by Megane Katsuya……I lost it when Megane Katsuya put a banana in his mouth. (Please don’t talk to me about this, I want to drink to forget about it)

Music and Art

The music is pretty generic, the OP song “Under the darkness” is iconic at this point at in the BLVN community.

The art is very yaoi-core, it’s an old game so what else would you expect? What I always thought was amusing how normal Katsura suddenly becomes all “top” looking once he put the glasses on pfffff.

Conclusion

Did I enjoy it? No. Do I think this is worth playing? No. I don’t even know why I started playing it to begin with, this is clearly not for me. H-scenes don’t amuse me, and plot was terribly boring. I know some people like that kind of humour, but if you’re like me and prefer some good plot I wouldn’t recommend it. This game also has a fandisk but I don’t see myself playing it soon.

TTG go makes jokes about Dick being an all suffering loser and it works (bc its usually self inflicted and played up in a lighthearted way), the harley quinn show tries and its too lame to watch :/ (theres nothing more cringey then showing someone experiencing something genuinely awful and telling the audience they should laugh at it)

Honestly, it's one of the top reasons why i dropped the hq show. I wanna try watching it again but s2 put me off so badly.

1) dont make yet another dc project thats supposed to be about someone else be about batman again!! Also a part of why i refuse to give the newest flash movie the time of day (that, and live action superhero movies tend to suck ass, and the lead actor is just downright awful)

2) nightwing shouldnt even be this prominent in a harley show, and hes just being mocked for some of the darkest parts of his history that were beyond his control? It makes him out to be whiney, but specifically bc hes traumatized. Serious things like flashbacks and panic attacks are very hard to make funny, and hqs failed intensely.

3) the deaging of most of the female characters. Its just insulting. A bit misogynistic. Introducing babs and dick as the same age and just meeting as college age adults, making babs batgirl when damian is robin instead of when dick was robin, the way they mixed up the ages make it impossible for steph to have ever been batgirl, erasing the possibility for her or cass to have any significant role, erasing oracle.

4) the bats are there for marketing. I refuse to believe anyone who gives half a shit about any of them wouldve made such a cluster fuck. It was cute and funny when they were used for one off gags in season one, like damian trying to make harley his nemesis. But the larger role they took after s1 is a god awful insult to all of them.

The problem isnt that the bats are there, its that theyre all poorly written and take time away from the actual main characters that i was watching the show for. Sorry for ranting, but its something that frustrates me ceaselessly.

Thoughts on South Park?

It's weird to think that South Park has been going for so long that I was in Elementary School (in Colorado!) when it premiered. I remember standing out in the snow waiting for the teacher to open the class room in 4th grade, complaining about how my nose was so cold it had gone numb, in between kids quoting Cartman and screaming "THEY KILLED KENNY!!"

That was probably something like 25 years ago. My Mom told me I was too young to watch it at the time, and I was. But you can't help it when the kids with looser parents are constantly telling you about it on the playground.

South Park has had lots of ups and downs over that time period. I never really got in to the show. Every time I tried, its humor was too abrasive and edgy to be anything that really hooked me over a long-term period. As it turns out, "Everything sucks and we hate everybody equally" isn't actually very funny, at least not to me.

And it's created a particular breed of Joker who embraces the show's ideals. People can say that Eric Cartman was always supposed to be the ultimate angry loser, but he's also been the one on the most merchandise and is generally the one under the spotlight the most often. There are a lot of people out there who think he's actually supposed to be cool and is just "telling it like it is," even when the show intentionally makes him toxic, or racist, or a bigot. It's seen as a form of empowerment. That's not great!

So much of that show has made so many people on this earth miserable. It has spearheaded campaigns of real hatred in this nation and gets to hide behind the excuse of cynical comedy when clearly some people see it less as a joke and more as a rallying cry for their destructive views. South Park didn't invent hate speech, but it definitely created a path to push for hate speech acceptance.

Nowadays, whenever I happen to see a clip of South Park, its brand of cynicism seems so sad. The show probably costs pennies to make -- there's a whole documentary about how they manage to turn an episode around in under a week, and there have even been instances where they have done episodes in just a day or two. Which is probably the reason its still on the air. There's a group of people who have been watching this show every week for most of their adult lives and its just a habit for them, and the costs are low enough that they'll keep making it forever.

But, like, there was a thing trending on twitter last week, because I guess there was an episode where Cartman had to use the restroom at school, but something was wrong with the boys room, so he threw on a cute bow and claimed to be transgender so he could use the girls bathroom.

And it felt so lame and boilerplate. It reminds me of that Eric Andre monologue where he makes fun of edgy 90's comedy. Every time I see earnestly edgy commentary like that I think about the smash zoom on Eric's face where he rips the parental advisory sticker off his mouth and goes "OH I'M SAYIN' IT." It makes me laugh to think there are people for whom this is their actual personality.

I suppose the real truth is I grew up in the world South Park said exists and it did not turn me in to a bitter, cynical monster who only wants to laugh at how much the world is burning.

34 - my least favourite championship battle was 2018. it broke my heart early on as a tifosa but i also just got ridiculously bored and actually stopped watching f1 for awhile. 2021 also genuinely sucked overall because of how hateful it got in online spaces, regardless of who you were supporting.

to start this is a summation of both online AND offline places because i socialize and work with f1 fans irl.

also i am absolutely 100% bias but literally EVERY winter break for as long as i can remember charles has been the target of SOME debate that shouldn't be one at all. and he is largely viewed as the "loser" in these debates which are essentially talent competitions where the other driver is hyped up and people act like charles leclerc can't drive a car. this winter it's leclerc vs norris, last year leclerc vs sainz, the winter before was leclerc vs (iirc) russell, before that was leclerc vs vettel.

so we must ask WHY it is always charles being shoved into these debates and that is because people think that he is OVERrated and undeserving of the hype he's got. but he actually IS fully deserving, and because people think he is overrated and undeserving of hype, he is actually underrated.

he's so close in age to max, has known him for long enough, and has been in the ferrari seat for long enough that people want to comapre him to max. that's understandable, but charles isn't max. everyone seems to forget that he's been on the grid 3 full fewer seasons than max and he's only had a properly functioning team for ONE of them, maybe one and a half if you pick and choose certain moments from 2019 too.

it's all well and good to call ferrari a joke and a clownshow, especially for last season, but to acknowledge its relevance ONLY when discussing shitshows as a whole and when discussing carlos but not when discussing charles is strawpicking and fully negates and erases the fact that charles fully is becoming that guy and could be that guy when he has a team willing and able to back him up.

the questions asked to charles and carlos mid-race are not just a meme they are things that actually happened and they should NOT have happened. imagine how YOU would feel if asked to do mental gymnastics about tyre strategy at 350 kmh when you also have no way of knowing what the lap times and tyre performance are overall?

there is a reason it's funny and that is because NONE of the other teams expected this from their drivers. it is not fair to not take this into account when discussing the driving skills and talent of charles (and carlos).

also a SMALL anecdote i love is that, on multiple occasions in the last couple years, charles has asked for max's lap times even when he wasn't anywhere near him because he knew that he could do the same times or close, rather than the times that others closer to him are doing. max has literally done the same. they're playing 5d chess but ferrari (and a lot of fans dfkm) are playing 2d chess. and that's at the same time that max has a team able to back him and support him when he makes a mistake, which he does because he's a fucking person, and so we don't even remember it happening later on.

anyway. charles has had ONE fighting chance for a championship and his team took it from him before he could even start fighting. did he fuck it in imola? yeah, but he rallied as best he could. did he fuck it in france? yeah but that's ONE mistake in a season where his team was out to get him and where it was already becoming obvious he wasn't going to win. the gravediggers started digging in spain and were just waiting for everyone to notice.

overall charles did really good considering it was his first season fighting for a championship and i think if he'd had a team supporting it he wouldn't have "cracked" under pressure so much. i'm still not convinced he even did "crack" though since he was fighting for p2 until literally the last lap of abu dhabi.

and yet there is STILL this massive debate going on about whether or not he's talented enough for his seat at all. i have had this conversation with coworkers who have watched f1 for years and who seem to genuinely believe it for whatever reason. i don't know if it's because he's getting blamed for the team or because the team is pimping him out instead of focusing on his skills and wins or because his "mindset" isn't as murderous as some people want it to be, but his talent and skills as a driver have become genuinely underrated. the end

I still think it was a dick move to post the minor aged poll runners personal blog as an argument against a fictional character in a poll. i dont care if you hate the other character or whatever but its an asshole move because this is the website known for having deranged losers who are overly attached to fictional characters/overly hate them, to the point of attacking others. i know they pinned it to the blog but still, calling attention to it was a bad call imo

im glad you said soft reboot, because i think honestly their origins, especially mia's, should stay relatively the same in this scenario.

so for Connor, this makes ollie a teen dad which is already an in joke i already have with a friend, we kept asking joshua williamson if ollie was now a teen dad when connor first reappeared and he never replied to us, so sad, loser. i think if they were to have kept the retconned origin in this scenario, where-in ollie DID know about connor, it could've worked well for a reason to him abandoning them, in place of the whole "i have a higher purpose with green arrow" bullshit.

HOWEVER. i am team fuck the retcon so. connor can still find out about ollie from finding moonday's scrapbook, but this now makes him born in the 90s which i think is very funny and should therefore lead to him reading as many online forums about ollie as he can at the local library. now in n52/rebirth iirc the ashram doesnt really exist? which is hard bc like obviously buddhism and the monastery is like central to connor's character. so i'd say he still goes to one, but probably wouldn't meet ollie there.

instead for them to meet i'd say he starts to volunteer at one of ollie's many projects? and they meet there a good few number of times when ollie goes to help out. then when ollie is once again presumed dead after the whole ninth circle shado broderick stuff he becomes GA to help people while not-actually-dead ollie and co are doing all the ninth circle stuff. then when they all return theres a whole plot around their actual relation etc etc.

for Mia. completely fuck the n52 shit idc about that boohoo die. honestly i'd keep everything from her pre52 origin the same which ik feels like a cop out for this question but. its so important to her character that changing any part of it feels like a disservice to the story yknow.

AoT is probably the story I have seen have the most bad faith readings.

Yes, I'm pretty active talking about it and participating in the community surrounding it, but even then it feels like it's one of the most commonly misread stories in manga and anime.

And it's all because Isayama (most likely) said some dumb stuff back in 2010/2014.

Every time I see that stuff now I have that tweet in the back of my head. People bend over backwards to make the story fit that tweet.

When in reality if Isayama said it and meant it, he probably didn't make a connection between it and the story he was telling.

If you've ever written anything *you know* how easy some connections are to miss and not to think about.

This story has clumsy enough thematic stuff for me to believe that he said some stupid shit 10 years ago without understanding the issues with it and the connection it has to his story.

But going back to the main bit of the ask, I actually don't also see Eren's sole motivation being "an idiot with too much power" as an issue, lol.

Also the world not fitting the mold he wanted it to fit into, an aspect of himself he was terrified of or the massive amount of guilt he had about killing all of the people he saw he was about to kill.

Or the entire dichotomy of young Eren's idealism and old Eren's horror at what he is going to do. Chapter 131 is some great stuff.

(Eren is a mess of motivations that's fantastic in my opinion.)

People tend to focus on a single aspect of a character or story or any aspect of a piece of media if they dislike it or if they want to put it in a box fitting to them.

But Eren also absolutely is an idiot. The fact that he's loser trash, but also complex is the good part to me.

Same guy as earlier, big roommate fan, wanted to share some actual good stuff to say about roommate

1. He lost round one in the tourney he’s in to fucking. Kebin. From Kevin’s Bunker. I beg of you to search this up. Kebin is a really good contestant but like. The bastard does not look suitable in the slightest to win. He’s such a fucking funny guy

2. He also lost round one in losers to Dubious Duo, the teamup of Ninja and Mr Beast. Of note is that originally, he was just meant to be a standin for Adam, but it was later essentially retconned that for these two rounds it was Roommate

3. In the tourney Roommate is in, there are three brackets, and everyone who drops to the goners bracket (which is essentially a loser’s losers bracket) gets fucked up and mutated. Adam/Roommate was the one exception of this, and stayed perfectly fine. The victory theme that was uploaded when he 0-2d has become a running in-joke in the SoundCloud tourney community, to the point that it’s been officially used in like several other doatk tracks

4. So. Round 3 in winners and losers. All goners contestants have had clones of them fused with the goners who lost their round, or in other words have been officially eliminated. These “party guests” are the bosses for the remaining contestant’s matches. Roommate, unchanged, is straight up the guest for round 4, the match between. Who else. But Kebin (and Ian, his new losers buff teammate). And Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart if he was a good composer/catboy but that’s besides the point. So. Normally party guests just had a teaser that was just the two goner’s victory themes merged into a new one. However, due to the notoriety of Roommate’s theme, instead of that. He got a fucking full ass 4 minute track. That is the ultimate embodiment of his character and is really cool and you should listen to it ( https://on.soundcloud.com/WJvRwTsLMoAiyAqG7 ). This track was such a fucking major deal in the tourney discord at the time, for a variety of reasons, including:

4.1: It was foreshadowed because a famous person in the discord just. randomly started being homophobic. And roommate, the evil clone he is, hacked the fucking host account to say how pissed off he was that they kicked his favorite person, and that he was gonna “ruin us all”.

4.2: It uses several other tourneykid in-jokes. Like. There are so many fucking nods and jokes it’s so fucking funny. And it still manages to be a really good track despite that!

4.3: oh yeah. the cover is a parody of fucking lemon demon with a second roommate (that the discord dubbed “roommite” cause it’s just a weird blob of roommate)

5: all of these combined led to quite possible one of the worst things to happen to the discord. See, amidst the height of the hype, we don’t know who, but someone decided to post a piracy link. This spread through like every channel, to the point the entire fucking server had to be shut down. This led to the creation of Forum Lou.EXE Show, quite possibly one of the weirdest and fucked up bonuses that I’m not even gonna bother explaining. you can just look it up in the SoundCloud. pretty good track by the way.

6. THATS NOT EVEN ALL OF IT! THAT WAS JUST BECAUSE OF THE TEASER! I QUITE HONESTLY CANT EVEN SAY THE REST BECAUSE ITS A FUCKING COGNITOHAZARD TO EXPLAIN!

8. Skipping 7 for cognitive hazard reasons, but uh. Remember the goners bracket from earlier? Yeah, roommate wasn’t there. This is because he got replaced by the actual adam. Who are now just two separate people running around. Unfortunately, in one of the saddest events in tourneykid history (not even joking. people were really sad about this myself included) it was revealed that adam was rigged for in the poll. He never actually won his goners match. This, however, was only discovered after all of roommate’s boss stuff. So this now means that somehow, the fucked up evil clone of Adam Conover ended up outlasting the original in every sense of the word.

tonight I ended up yelling myself into hysteria about how devastated I am that they’re literally writing Topher out of the whole show (literally 6 minutes of screen time this entire season. like actually literally.) and how easily they could’ve incorporated him more but they refuse to respect him as a character. like they can’t even do the bare minimum of continuing ANY of his story from s2 at all & its honestly a disservice, like they’d rather force his whole character to being defined by a group of other strange losers who all feel the same way as he does and acts the same way as he does, rather than keep him as an individual and UTILIZE HIM. he was a total loner in s2 bc he literally did not fit in with anyone and that made him stand out. but now there are several other weird randos (one of which being the laziest clone I’ve ever seen in my life—like Jack the Ripper was not a sassy black lady, what are we even talking about anymore it doesn’t make any sense, even as a joke) who are ALSO total loners who don’t fit in with anyone.

they didn’t even try to do anything at all with him. the most basic example is that he literally said he had a crush on Joan in the prev season—to the degree that he would convince Abe to get molested and then blackmail him abt it to keep him from stealing Joan from him—& then nothing happened with that at all when there was SUCH A CLEAR IN for that storyline. another insane example: he spent the entire previous season only talking to Abe and said like one word directly to him directly the entire season and there was never any mention of them ever having any relationship. no conflict btwn him and Abe for the INSANITY that Topher put him thru, which is actually nuts. they just…don’t talk.

my honest theory atp is just that he was a character that was too funny of a concept not to include, and didn’t have much else in mind. they just kept giving him jokes that were silly and didn’t take a moment to realize that there was potential for a very interesting ongoing antagonist. his blackmailing storyline was the most interesting thing in s2 for me bc there were so many questions about his actual motivations (bc he surely did not seem to care abt Joan when she was in trouble in s2ep10). & also bc like that’s a character who’s genuinely interesting and dangerous. he’s a total ticking time bomb with no friends and a history of psychiatric hospitalizations that’s constantly overcompensating for who he inherently is as the clone of a genocidal colonizer yet still being disliked because he’s overcompensating so much, who is willing to actively victimize and traumatize the only person who tolerates him over a crush (whether it be him having a genuine interest in Joan or him not wanting to lose his only friend).

but now they have him like “man I hate the popular kids, ooh Joan go change a letter out from the cheerleaders signs lol it’ll make them look stupid” are you fr. “we’re gonna release venomous snakes to poison everyone” don’t even look at me. so shallow, nothing there. why did he give up on trying to seem like a good person? doesn’t matter apparently. I could easily make up a reason but it’s not worth it to talk abt in the show ig so whatever.

it’s just so insulting and kinda icky to see that these writers/showrunners/whatever actively dislike one of their characters this much that they completely ignore both his established character traits AND his mere presence. He isn’t even in the background in half these episodes. He’s just gone.

I would’ve rather the writers just be like “sorry he’s in the asylum forever goodbye” and keep him out of this season entirely bc to see him reduced into generic nothing was a personal tragedy.

I was screaming about this for at least 40 minutes like banging on my desk and trying not to angry cry lol.

ik it’s dramatic but honestly I’m kinda grieving the show as a whole ngl. like I’ve come to the conclusion that it just doesn’t have a place in this decade & in retrospect it shouldn’t have been brought back in the first place. it’s so different from what it started as and I just…I dunno man. this season didn’t have any original music, no musical episode, no celebrity guests as far as I remember, and its just like guys what are we DOIN. it’s just such a deviation from the core elements of the show and it makes how serious we’re meant to take the show even more obvious and strange imo.

AND ANOTHER THING‼️ on that same note of having to take the show and characters pretty seriously, it’s even more obvious that they’re writing Topher out bc he’s the only “main character” in the opening credits that doesn’t get PROFUSE amounts of in-depth exploration—he literally gets zero. whatever nonsense he said in that last episode abt enjoying that he’s a villain doesn’t hold a candle to what everyone else got and honestly means nothing to me bc like…how am I supposed to be even kind of impacted by that reveal when he hadn’t spent a SECOND of this season trying to get anyone to like him. all he did in s2 was try to seem like a good woke guy with his awful activism and he did NONE of that the entire season, so it’s like 1. ok why not like why didn’t he do that if it was his MAIN BIT (A: bc the writers do not care about him clearly) and also 2. so why am I supposed to care abt him embracing his lineage in the last ep? it drives me NUTS bc that could’ve been such an interesting development (ala “aren’t you tired of being nice? Don’t you wanna just go ape shit?”) if they fucking set it up at all but god forbid i guess.

they so easily could’ve just cut out the bleachur creachurs and forced Joan to ally herself with Topher alone bc now everyone knows he’s kind of a misogynist and Abe fuckin hates him for the obvious reasons, and we get to the same place. let him and Joan be seen together. that would absolutely add tension to Joan’s relationship with the rest of her friends, especially since all of the boys KNOW that Topher likes her. There we go, easy peasy set up; it keeps him in his role as an antagonistic force and allows him easier access to the rest of the fucking cast. there are endless fucking possibilities and I could draft up like five different ways they could’ve easily incorporated him in. it makes me so mad.

So james prescribes me ambien too. I tell him my anxiety is going even crazier than usual he prescribes me clonazepam. So now I’m taking ambien, trazadone, and clonazapem for sleep. I’ve always been really overly fatigued during the day but now i just can’t wake up, at all. I am sleeping till five (ball-park) no matter how many alarms i set or when i go to sleep. So i’m sleeping through class and being late for work. So he takes away my clonnie and my PRECIOUS ambien, and now i’m on Laraxpem? lonazepam? And i’m actually not tired all day again! But i am not falling asleep at night 🙃 and also, i am still way too fatigued way too early in the day (i woke up at 1:00 and i was dead tired by 7:00). ANYWAYS. I might do a sleep study soon so. We’ll see how it goes.

If anything, Panda is the best wingman(?). Who would've thought she'd be the one picking Xiao's outfit? Also, I agree with the other anon, hopefully she'll be more involved in the story, which seems to be that way. But like you said, it's hard to tell. On the other hand, we really can't expect much character depth from fighting games, although I recall you mentioned MK had lots of content and you can at least see characters interacting a lot

I think it's really cute. And I think it's cool that Panda is back in the involvement of Xiao and Jin. Just because I thought it was a lil silly that Panda turned down Xiao's requests because she uh... didn't want to get herself killed because pandas are an endangered species? I guess because it's 2023 and that's not really true for Pandas anymore, she has no more excuses! But it was kinda funny in the first place given that Panda was intended as Xiao's bodyguard, yet is worried about herself dying because of the (now previously) current state of her species. Like isn't that counterproductive given she was supposed to be Xiao's bodyguard? Anyway, it's cool to see Panda having more involvement. With Kuma also having more inspiration by his master, maybe the bears will also have something a lil more to do with the story this time around.

As for Xiao, I do feel like she's definitely gonna be more involved in the story. Seeing as supposedly, most of the characters may play a part in the story? I think I heard something like that. Which would make sense, considering this story is supposedly bigger than 7's, and is "bigger" than just the Kaz/Jin conflict. And also, a lot of the characters sound like they have more serious bios than they did in 7. But we'll see, we'll see.

The problem with fighting game stories is that... they HAVE to write a story that explains why these characters are all fighting each other, and have it be plausible. Sometimes, it's hard to do depth this way when it's kind of a restrained form of storytelling. However, on to the topic of MK compared to Tek real quick. Since MKX, not only do all the characters have unique intros against each other, but they tend to have MULTIPLE intros. This not only gives more depths to the characters personalities, but also to each relationship the character has in the game. I was REALLY hoping that's what Tek8 was doing when I saw Jun and Kazuya have a unique intro. Sadly, they just... for some reason... chose not to go the extra mile the MK games did, and only CERTAIN characters have special intros.

MK is far from perfect, too, though. I actually prefer most of the character design in Tek, and I may even prefer the characters in general in Tek. Even the more boring characters in Tek tend to just be one exaggerated personality trait (Josie being a crybaby for example, or Katarina being very vulgar) that it could still make them entertaining even if they are One Beat. Meanwhile in MK, especially in MK1, the most boring characters are just... boring. They don't even have a gimmick in their personality. I particularly find myself being bored by Li Mei and Tanya's characters in MK1. And well, MK's lore also has its problems. (As I just wrote up a rant regarding my favorite character and his depiction in MK1. Not nearly as offensive as Tek6!Jin's... but still quite disappointing) But MK's lore, is, still... more consistent than Tek's. Even if it does get messy here and there. (There were... other issues with MK1, but I won't get into them for the sake of not spoiling much, aand also this isn't an MK blog LOL)

Imo, MK does game modes better than Tek, as well as letting most their roster characters get a spot in the story (without treating ANY of them as total jokes. For example, Johnny Cage is a funny character... he's a comic relief. But you're meant to laugh with Johnny and his antics. He's still a good guy who does have his importance. Meanwhile, if Johnny was a Tek character... he would've just been a joke who's seen as a "pathetic loser" that we all laugh at. He'd go nowhere.) MK also tends to have funnier humor, too. Like previous Tek games have been funny - in fact, Tek6 can be pretty funny at times. But oftentimes the humor is more juvenile, and Tek7 was the worst offender of this. And some ppl have TRIED to say "oh, that's just because Tek is Japanese humor, you just don't get it!" And that's... very untrue. Because I've watched a few Japanese things that are either comedic or just have some comedy peppered into it - and I've seen ones that made me laugh my ass off. Even the more "bizarre" humor ones, or maybe especially those. But Tek7 just never did that for me. I found myself more annoyed or experiencing second hand embarrassment when watching the "funny scenes" in Tek7.

Anyway, I wish Tek would've done the unique intros like MK did. But oh well. I can only hope they offer more gameplay modes (whiiich arcade quest might be doing) for single players, and better characterization in both the main story, and the individual character endings. Also, I REALLY hope it has a satisfying, somewhat challenging last boss because HOO BOY that was probably MK1's biggest disappointment.
