A moment of mourning for Sakura for words she would have once given anything to hear from Sasuke....

Kind of followup to THIS comic.

But she and Saeko have had their revenge for Enji, and Sakura has had time to heal and find closure. She won't be any good to Sasuke because she's already left that path, and she won't abandon her coven/responsibilities either.

She's learned alot about Konoha over the past few years, and has to a big degree, deprogrammed herself from the Leaf's propaganda thanks to all her teachers and some brutal life experience, so she doesn't actually care if Sasuke were to raze the entire council/kages to the ground- but there ARE people (ino, Kakashi, lee, naruto etc-) who she loves and wants to protect, so she'll stay, for them.

Sasuke, for his part, is happy to have someone just verbalize that they empathize with his pain and that his desire for revenge is justified, though he's doesn't have the bandwidth to really understand where Sakura is right now, emotionally.

In this AU I kind of had an end for Sasuke where he is pardoned, but never returns to the village, though he does pass by once in a blue moon. When he does, Sakura (who doesn't end up living IN the village as much as in the forests of Konoha like their own little witch of the woods) is there to help with healing/supplies and they do end up as good, yet distant friends.

The thing is, Sasuke, over time, was healing. Spending more time with Naruto by his side slowly healed him--and Orochimaru noticed this so he exploited Sasuke's survivor guilt through the curse mark then Gaara had to reiterate his purpose, and Itachi reminded him grimly through a genjutsu that left him mentally scarred.

Sasuke himself was aware of this and he perceived it as weakness but at the same time, in VOTE1 he says, it's too late, Naruto. It's already too late. The implication I get from this is Sasuke second guessing his decision and he was waiting for someone to give him one reason to stay and talk him out of it but they were not on the same page anymore. He was struggling with his innate goodness as it always surfaces whenever he's with Naruto, moreover, Naruto himself is the reminder that he cares, he is kind, and he is a being whose affection runs deep.

It's criminal there isn't much content on Itachi and the Taka. He'd love them. And they would adore him. The path to Itachi's heart is through Sasuke. When he'd see there were people who loved his brother, were even ready to go full criminal mode just for his sake, and desert everything they believed in for Sasuke's sake, he would be overwhelmed.

The Taka would love him as well. They'd see he isn't the kind of person they believed he was. How he remains detached from everyone unless it's for or because of Sasuke. They'd be very much delighted and also overwhelmed to be around him. Because it's itachi.

They'd notice how he tries to remove himself from Sasuke's life, but can't. They'd play an important role in shaping the brothers' bonding that, if Itachi had lived, wouldn't be easy to heal.

The story attached to this pic was deleted or something but omg I wanna read it. I think things would have turned a lot differently in the series for Naruto and Sasuke. Having Hinata there, able to understand and help both traumatized boys through their pain would have been amazing. And Hinata having two very confident, very hardworking and caring teammates pushing her to be her best self and tune out the shit her Clan put in head, like this would've been a WHOLE other ballgame!!

I feel like I need to push my Team 7 with Hinata up higher in my long list of fics to write after seeing this 😆 It's in my head now!! I see so many beautiful moments in this dynamic and ya'll already know they gonna grow up into a sweet, loving, never-a-dull-moment, poly relationship 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Side note, Hinata looks GORGEOUS in this!! Bangs pulled back, lilac eyes gleaming, a sweet smile tinged with confidence on her lips. I love the idea forming in my head about this iteration of Hinata Hyuga. Feel like this is what could have been for her had she not been passed over and relegated largely to the background.

In today’s thoughts: Naruto setting up a temporary restaurant for a festival, it was supposed to be a stall but he went overboard, like seriously overboard it looks and acts as a permanent restaurant

And!! It’s frog themed!! (Iruka helped him find a lot of the decor)

Anyways, thinking about Sasuke, Itachi, and Obito coming in to eat (it’s my au, I decide who’s alive), bringing along a huge ugly-cute frog plushie for Naruto that they won from one of the stalls

Naruto, of course, loves it and excitedly puts it up on its own pedestal thing where it blends perfectly with all the other frog decor and he calls it “frog king” while Sasuke points out that “this is way too much effort for just a stall, dobe”

And at some point, Jiraiya stops by, gets into a joking argument with Naruto over whether it’s a frog plushie or a toad plushie, agrees with him that whatever it is, it’s a king, and makes it a lil crown while Naruto cooks
