Hello! I hope your day is going well.

I've been talking with a friend who's therian recently, and I'm starting to understand some (potentially?) otherkin feelings I haven't previously examined in my life. The kind of "wait, that's not common?" thoughts that feel really familiar to when I first realized I wasn't a boy and wanted to wear more fem clothes.

I want to explore these robot (and plushie?) feelings further the same way I did with my gender, but I'm having a tricky time figuring out where to start. I was wondering if Val, the robot/AI in your system (I hope I got her name right, sorry if I didn't), might have any tips for things to try? Analogues to the "put on a skirt and give it a spin" strategy?

Hiii! Hope you're doing well too, I've been getting over my sickness, just resting all day and stuff, so its going ok so far.

Most of what worked for me was pointing to various species and eventually types of robot and AI, saying "this is me," and analyzing what exactly I liked and didnt like about temporarily "being" that. I may just be very weird with how my chipset works, but I don't know what kind of process other people go through for this.

Another thing that I think helped me was to play videogames where you play as a robot. Starbound was my go-to and you can kinda tell in my favorite robot model [I actually have a ton of different ones, val is just the one i use most of the time and my real name is our legal name so im not gonna share it across the internet]. But just having a robot skin in minecraft or telling friends "I'm a robot now :3" as a """joke""" or changing your display name and profile to be robotic for a bit helped me out too.

Definitely try stuff and see how you feel, but make sure to think about every piece of it. sometimes there will be one element that you really like but its hidden by your dislike of the entire rest of it or vice versa. And ask some other people if you havent already, a lot of my friends in the tumblsphere here are also machines and you can ask them for advice too.

Also! Don't try to change your identity even slightly for someone else's approval [even mine!]. All too frequently people will look down on certain designs for not being "visually mechanical enough" or whatever, please try to ignore them and be yourself

luffy - aroace! he doesnt experience any romantic or sexual attraction, but he does make/laugh at sex jokes like a 12 year old boy would. he also doesnt really understand gender so he identifies as a man cuz thats what every one refers to him as but if you used any other pronouns with him he wouldnt correct you. when ivankov was talking about destroying gender norms he thought gender norms was like a really strong pirate tbh. or when bon clay said he was gay and bigender he thought that was like an ethnicity or some shit. if you came out to him he'd be like "oh really? im from dawn island wheres lesbian?"

zoro - unlabled! he has attraction to all genders but hes too lazy to figure out an exact gender its an "i might be bisexual but im too busy sword training to care" kind of thing, he doesnt really care for gender very much, hes amab and identifies as a man but if you used they/them on him he'd be fine. do NOT use she/her though he doesnt like that. hes also demisexual tho! (doesnt experience romantic or sexual attraction with out forming a strong emotional bond)

nami - a lesbian among lesbians. a women lover above all things. she doesnt try to hide it either. she doesnt really care for gender and is very happy with her identity as a women, but she also uses they/them sometimes when shes feeling silly

usopp - gay man. gay as hell. so fucking gay. him and nami are wlw mlm HOSTILITY. he uses all pronouns though, he couldnt really care less honestly

sanji - BISEXUAL. he had a talk w ivankov post time skip and kind of had internalized homophobia/transphobia and was like "all men get attracted to other men but that doesnt make you gay bro." and ivankov had to sit him down and bring the news to him like telling a child santa isnt real. he uses all pronouns.

chopper - likes other reindeer no matter the gender. ask him for his pronouns tho and he'd be like "oh im cis! if you are trans i can get you some testosterone or estrogen shots though!" good doctor

robin - bisexual, couldn't care less about the gender of her partner, she'd love them regardless. shes a trans women! chopper is always delicate with her estrogen shots and gives her fun bandaids in silly shapes and ALWAYS at the same time because one time she mentioned how before she joined the strawhats she would have to go without estrogen for long periods of time and when she did get to use it, it was rushed and she put it in at weird angles

franky - another trans bisexual, round of applause everyone! trans male, when he got hit by that train and started making himself a robot it was his OPPORTUNITY!!!!! his robot body automatically gives him t shots whenever hes due so he doesnt need choppers help until he needs to refill it.

brook - hes bisexual with a fem lean, no care for gender. hes one of those elder gay guys whos like "omg im so happy you get to do this now, we didnt have that when i was young"

jinbe - cishet but SUPER aggresive ally. one of those gay dads that wear rainbow socks around all the time and whenever he sees like pride merch he points to whichever crew member is next to him and is like "do we get this". the answer is always no. hes like a proud dad tbh. if someone said something homophobic around him he'd sit them down and educate them. alternatively if luffy hears someone say something about fishmen he'd just beat them up

born in san francisco, the joshi family moved to lincoln just in time for her baby brother to be born when she was five years old. truthfully, she didn't have many feelings outside of crying about missing her friends and dealing with having to suddenly share her parents.

a bit of a nerd in highschool, only in the sense that she was a mathlete and in the science club. the girl was a math genius. could have probably been a world renown mathematician if she had put her mind to it. but as a student, she was into robotics and football [soccer].

kiara was always a bit of a blunt person. not to be cruel or to cause way issues but genuinely because she didn't want to waste time with beating around the bush all the time.

While most knew she was applying to harvard, after all, she was the kind of girl that the regalia from the school even before being there. she always secretly applied to MIT. mostly, for her own enjoyment. to make sure she could actually do it. what do you know, she did. while it was sort of a backup school, she was proud of that acceptance and kept the letter. right next to the robot she built for bot wars that she was never allowed to participate in.

she may not have always looked it, but kiara also loves sports. her parents only let her join one, but she was often at all of the american football and basketball games. her books and homework in her lap while. pray you never bet against her or got into a fantasy football league she was in. because you definitely lost.

the problem with how they played that damn game… was that they couldn’t tell who’s dares were who’s. her dare had been about that lake… could it have been her’s? it was a question that tormented her for the weeks that followed. Into her next year of school…

after

the first year of harvard was one of the worst times she had experienced after chris disappeared. the guilt of what may have been hung over her head like an axe and all her focus seemed to go right down the drain. kiara had worked so hard to get into harvard, and things just weren't going how she needed. it was what led her into the office of her first therapist. anything to help.

kiara has one sorta ex. maybe. they never really talked about it. a first kiss and mostly emotional connection. a girl that was with her through the hardest part of her first year of college. with all of her issues at the time, the relationship had been rough and while she still holds her as a friend, they didn't make it after she left harvard and decided to go into education at cambridge college. but she still held her in her heart for being the person who got her to the therapist’s office in the first place.

therapy was... the best decision she ever made. while there were still some things she didn't speak of, there was so much more she did. in the end the coping mechanisms she learned through them helped her handle the things she couldn't say out loud.

through that, she also found the courage to walk away from the path of being a doctor and instead became a teach of math and science. she never knew she would enjoy it so much.

kiara found herself back in lincoln two years before the invitation. her father was diagnosed with cancer and while her brother was off at harvard... her mother needed help at home with everything. putting her big girl pants on, she offered and found herself teaching math and science to seniors and coaching soccer at new horizons.

this new... dare... has put kiara on edge but truth be told... she figured it was about time to face what happened. she didn't know about everyone else but she refused to allow it to fester in her nightmares anymore. something happened that night. something more than just a dare and it was about damn time they figured it out. they deserved that much... chris did too.

So insanely good at killing people that it’s kind of comedic. The first canon transgender Cybertronian (even if it was handled badly at first). The dude who helped her medically transition was shitty and unethical and also undead, so she spent six years doing nothing but killing him over and over again. Literally says “whatever the game, the easiest way to win is to kill all the other players.” but also gets good character development and a girlfriend. Queen of recovery and self care, even if her self care is repeatedly killing a dude for six years <3

Tl;dr, Arcee is one of the most violent characters in the entire IDW comics continuity, but she’s also an extremely compelling character and had a well-executed redemption arc, making her a worthy morally ambiguous girl boss. Plus, she’s canonically a trans lesbian.

Now for the rant…

Arcee is an ancient warrior, one of the oldest characters in the whole series BY A LOT (which is impressive, given that most of the characters are around 4-6 million years old), and the first female character introduced to the IDW comics continuity. I will admit right now, her introduction was an infamously rocky start to her character. See, when the IDW comics first began, the Transformers were conceptualized as a “genderless” species (i.e., every character was masc-presenting and used he/him pronouns). So, when Arcee was introduced, the author had to “justify” the existence of a “female” member of an asexual, genderless species. Here’s what he came up with (prepare for cringe):

Many millions of years ago, long before the Autobots and Decepticons we know and love ever existed, Arcee was a cis male (a “typical” Cybertronian), and he and his identical brother were both formidable warriors. In an effort to differentiate himself from his brother, Arcee sought out a famous scientist to surgically alter his appearance. This turned out to be a MASSIVE mistake. The scientist, Jhiaxus, forced Arcee to undergo an INVOLUNTARY GENDER REASSIGNMENT SURGERY, in an attempt to introduce gender into Cybertronian society. Why? Who knows. But the operation was so successful that everyone whom Arcee ever came across from that point forward would think of him as female and refer to him with she/her pronouns (despite having no pre-existing concept of gender). Basically Jhiaxus gave poor Arcee, still a cis man, a ride in the gender dysphoria machine and forced him into a female body. This, naturally, enraged Arcee and drove him a little insane, and he spent the next several million years hunting down Jhiaxus to make him pay.

So, at the time of Arcee’s introduction, he was actually a cis man trapped in a femme-presenting body (note, this doesn’t make him a trans man, since he was not born into this body). And Arcee, the character, stayed that way for YEARS. This, understandably, caused massive backlash from the fanbase, and at the VERY END of the comics’ decade-long run, Arcee’s backstory was retconned. Thanks to this retcon, in the current canon, Arcee was always a trans woman and went into the gender reassignment surgery willingly, but the procedure was extremely traumatic, and Jhiaxus abandoned Arcee as soon as it was over. Trauma from the procedure and some unexplained side effect that sent Arcee into a murderous rage for millions of years inspired her to hunt down Jhiaxus, driven by absolute hatred and the overwhelming desire to see him suffer. Arcee literally summarizes this as having been caused by “bad meds”. Honestly, idk if this is better or worse than the original story.

The retcon of Arcee always being a trans woman is helped by the fact that “cis” female Cybertronians were, in fact, introduced into the comics a few years after Arcee’s debut; they were absent from the earlier comics because, long ago, every single femme-presenting Cybertronian left Cybertron to go live on its colony worlds, which lost contact with Cybertron and faded into myth and legend soon after the exodus. This exodus didn’t have a huge impact on Cybertron’s population because female Cybertronians only existed at a 13:1 ratio in the global population, so the transformers left on Cybertron after the exodus forgot all about the existence of their female counterparts pretty soon after they lost contact with the colony worlds. So, the existence of female Cybertronians made it possible for Arcee to have been born a trans woman, rather than a cis man. But I digress.

So, Arcee spent millions of years on the warpath in her hunt for Jhiaxus and slaughtered literally anyone who got in her way. Or really, anyone who happened to be near her at the time. She was established as one of the most bloodthirsty, brutally violent characters in the entire comic continuity (which included actual genocidal warlords), and the in-universe reason for her pink paint job is that she painted herself the color of the transformers’ blood (gotta have a justification for the violent maniac to be painted the “girly” color). At some point, she had a run-in with the Autobots and was thrown in prison and had her soul separated from her body and locked away in a jar; in her introduction comic, Arcee states that being a soul, detached from a physical body and floating in a blank void, was the first time she was ever at peace since the operation, millions of years ago. Unfortunately for her, this peace was cut short, since the prison warden eventually shoved Arcee’s soul back into her body (which, at the time of publication, was the female body that her male soul had been forced into) and sent her to hunt down a mutual enemy. Eventually, Arcee did find Jhiaxus, and she was then trapped with him in a dimension that existed outside of time and space for several million years. During this time, Arcee relentlessly tortured Jhiaxus and killed him over and over in the most painful ways imaginable, only for him to be resurrected after each death.

I’ve honestly forgotten how Arcee and Jhiaxus got out of the time prison, but after they did, Jhiaxus was killed (for real this time) by someone else, Arcee assassinated a politician for a morally-ambiguous Autobot cop, and then, Arcee finally declared herself done with her eons-long murderous rampage. She eventually mellowed out and joined the Autobots for real, at which point she went from being an anti-hero to a more traditional (if still violent) heroine. During her time with the Autobots, she became one of Optimus Prime’s closest confidantes, befriended a number of humans and Autobots alike, and even fell in love with a young, idealistic colonist (one of the long-lost cis women I mentioned before) after Cybertron reestablished contact with the lost colony worlds. The two even shared the first on-page kiss in any transformers comic, which was pretty groundbreaking, since it was between two lesbians (one of whom was a trans woman). After a very, very long life, filled with pain and suffering and violence, Arcee was given a fully realized redemption arc and finally got her happy ending. Thanks to the retcon making her a trans woman and not a mutilated cis man, she’s a girlboss through and through.

Personality: 

Suzette has spent most of her life in her own head, she didn’t have many opportunities to make real friends as those closest to her tried to spare other children from her. If she wasn’t interacting with help paid to keep her happy her mother was unsuccessfully attempting to pick away at her self esteem, filling her with more and more rage, but also ample opportunity to learn how to get under someone skin. 

She was eventually able to figure out what kind of person people reacted to well and what role in the world she felt most comfortable filling, this being what kept her violent streak from childhood at bay when necessary. These days she hides her cruelest and most conniving ideas behind a smiling exterior, only acting on them for the “best interest of her family”, that being what she personally feels best suits her vision for the perfection she’s striving for, doing her best work at the right hand of someone more intimidating than herself. 

Suzy gained more emotional intelligence as she grew despite the difficulties she found in genuinely connecting with others but her spoiled and sheltered lifestyle left her lacking in common sense, naive. Her devious plotting is less built around thorough planning and more instinct, trial and error. She finds childlike joy in things like clowns but this has an undercurrent of sadism as, above all, she gets her most childlike wonder out of making others uncomfortable. She’s learned there’s less of a chance to be caught in the act if the people around you are paranoid and unfocused, whether this be by poking fun at primal fears or isolating them via a maze of social etiquette. 

She is genuinely an excitable person, not feeling or expressing much else at all. Many would describe her as robotic, like a stepford wife. Matronly in the sense that she can balance a feminine dignity with a charm that lures people in. Even though it can be hard and very much not worth it at times her desire for companionship remains constant, though her definition of said concept is foggy. As a result, she's incredibly cooperative and eager to please under the right circumstances. One of the only things she loves more than blood on her hands is being a delightful hostess! Otherwise she makes it clear that she puts herself on a pedestal far above most people she interacts with. She has somewhat of an unstable sense of identity, seeing it more as a performance she feels the most comfortable with. A means to an end like everything else. 

The more you’ve endeared yourself to her the higher and farther she’s willing to go for you. Especially when it comes to her children. This makes the times she has to fake it much easier, she’s at her best when she’s in her element after all. Even then, unless you’re a certain mutant killer snowman, she’s willing to hurt even the people closest to her if they are straying away from what she thinks is best. She would never physically hurt her children but for the same reason that one wouldn’t break their $3000 dollar vase. Her children are intensely devoted to her, seeking out her comfort and approval above all else, but they are also deeply terrified of her. 

When not under the constraints of a polite environment where certain things are expected, her mind wanders to morbidly curious and sick places, nothing else exists but the innate desire for control, for shock, for filth. Like a child conducting an autopsy. It was something she had inside her long before she met Jack and something that stays with her to this day.

Suzy, being the progenitor of all Frostbitten, has the same basic cryokinetic abilities. Including but not limited to: burrowing, freezing, constructs, surfing, and ice attacks.

Cryoscience 

"The user knows everything about the ice, snow, frost, winter and everything related to it. As such, they know everything within the ice, and what lies around and within it. The user knows everything when it comes to the ice because all its secrets are revealed, knowing all the ways and reasons of how the ice is supposed to be and work. These users are at their most powerful during the winter seasons or in frozen snow filled areas." (Not a super big fan of how the superhero wiki words this but I struggle to explain it better myself)

This is commonly thought to be her only ability. She can often be seen talking to falling snowflakes, doing the dishes while the snow from the windowsill dries, or lecturing teenagers who take bites out of icicles for internet videos. It can be pretty useful in combat as well, such as predicting the patterns of avalanches or weak spots in frozen over water. 

As the years go by she finds that when harm comes to her environment, harm comes to her. If it is operating naturally she feels blissful and becomes physically enhanced, if it harmed she is filled with a deep righteous anger and her regular abilities are harder to control. 

Moisture Absorption

The user can absorb moisture in all its forms from the bodies of living creatures, while removing it from the source, into their body and use it in various ways, gaining some form of advantage, either by enhancing themselves, gaining the drained power, using it as power source etc., either temporarily or permanently.

Suzette herself rarely uses this ability, every person she uses it on becomes a dried up husk of flesh. The issue though is that she can’t control it, she uses it so little that if she starts she can’t stop, meaning she overloads her system with moisture. If it’s been long enough since the last time she can even pass out, waterfalls coming from every orifice before she falls to the ground incapacitated.

6. How does your oc feel about labels? Theirs, or in general?

Ok, assuming that xiv world has sexuality and gender identity labels the way we do (havent seen evidence to suggest this is the case yet, doesnt mean it wouldnt have them, etc etc), i don't think Aoife would be too keen to slap a label on herself. Polyamorous sure, but I think she'd feel some discomfort with advertising that she's "bisexual" - not that she's uncomfortable with her wlw thoughts, but since she's such a public figure, she wouldn't want to be held up as an example of "bisexual rep" or called a "bisexual icon" when she's mostly been involved with men. She would feel nervous about taking space away from people who express their bi-ness more visibly.

(disclaimer aoife's opinion on this is not reflective of my own, i have no problem being open as a bisexual while also being married to a man and i know that being in a m/f relationship doesn't negate my bisexuality)

Aoife is a poly force of nature with 3 current boyfriends, 1 genderfluid robot partner, and 1 guy i still count as her boyfriend/actively ship her with even though he's been dead for most of my time playing this game.

Aoife decided to go the poly route after she and Aymeric both realized they were also in love with Estinien at around the same time. The two of them ended up talking it out with each other and decided to try to make it work. They both pitched the idea of a relationship to him shortly before he left Ishgard post-hw (this is part of why he left lmao, he needed time to think about it but did eventually accept). 🌱 - yes, but its been something thats been a lot fuzzier as of recent, and we generally feel less-inclined to try and mess with it these days (always feels like a waste of time, even though it can be helpful; it used to be) our headspace has Weird mechanics and is weirdly consistent. we've always been pretty naturally good at like. mapping/figuring out Physical Spaces and such, so i guess that makes sense, but it's been wild to describe it to other plural folks w/ headspaces and have them essentially go "no mine isnt like that at all, what the fuck" we have actually based a couple of different writing projects around it (Prismic Sanctum and Oubliette specifically, both are older projects not currently updating, but still worth a potential read) and continue to mess with it as a worldbuilding concept here and there if i had to boil it down: it's a massive collection of various areas that are all in a consistent layout, that could be mostly mapped out with cardinal directions. so like, if you travel North from Area A, you end up in Area B. you will Always end up there. same thing with traveling through doors, etc. some spaces are vague about distance (like the forest between the mass of highways hanging over a void and the big ashen wasteland; traveling through it has different, inconsistent travel times) but Directions are pretty much always set in stone, even then. physical space also doesnt always make sense. you may go to the 2nd floor of a 4-story apartment building, find a trapdoor in an apartment, go up into it, and end up in a castle that cant physically exist at the same time as the apartment building. but, that trapdoor will ALWAYS lead to that place, so locations are just about Always consistent the type of locations also vary wildly. often theyre either places that are possible in the real world but a bit Off (like an elementary school where gravity outside/on the playground is reversed so you can fall into the sky, or a mansion where the physical space is larger or smaller in comparison to you depending on what doors you walk through), or, theyre entirely surreal spaces that are completely impossible (like the aforementioned clump of many highways suspended over a black void that are lit by yellow streetlights, or the basement thats several miles wide with varying ceiling heights, or the motel where every room leads to some different, impossible space) it can be genuinely fun and interesting to """""Explore""" it, even though i know its just our brain generating all the weird spaces. its like one of those homemade TTRPG games that you play by yourself, where even though a Lot of it is coming from your own imagination, its still fun to mess around with

Ok so I said this a few days ago, and I decided that I actually did want to draw this out. I thought it could be fun.

Now to hopefully avoid confusion I want to make something ABSOLUTELY clear.

To give some context, before BFB became a thing, everyone used to make up their own personalities for the (now former) RCs, and I was one of them. I even featured them in my old sketchbooks from middle school.  Of course, when BFB came around, we were all excited that these RCs were given personalities. Though I joined the internet much too late to show people how I used to portray them.

But when I talked about it the other day, I figured maybe it isn't too late to do so. After all, as long as I gave context people would understand right? So I decided to make this, mostly for my own enjoyment and to revisit those memories.

I also used to portray a few characters here as a different gender, but for the purposes of this I'm gonna leave some of the character's genders ambiguous.

I want to clarify this is not me rewriting characters, it is simply just a drawing I made of how I portrayed these characters before BFB for fun.

With that said, here's how I used to portray all these characters (based on what I drew and/or wrote in my old sketchbooks from like late 2016):

Cake I used to see as the cutesy one who loved pink and plushies. They also really liked making friends. I even made a small comic once about Cake inviting others to hang out with them at their house.

Gaty I saw as an artist with a southern accent.

Balloony I saw as a silly little jokester who liked to make others laugh.

Basketball I saw as a jock. Not like a mean one but like an overly energetic "dude-bro" one.

Lollipop was kinda the same as she was now except she was more blunt. I think that might've been from her one appearance in BFDIA.

Cloudy I saw as a typically bashful fellow with frequent mood swings. I kinda demonstrated those mood swings in my Cloudy doodles pic.

Lighting I saw as the cool guy who thinks he's the best.

Robot Flower I saw as almost identical to Flower, though Robot Flower would always brand herself as the "cooler" Flower.

Roboty….uh….existed.

Remote I saw as like a cheery and charismatic object show host who loved batteries.

I kinda just used alexlion0511’s (Marker’s recommender I think) portrayal of Marker as my portrayal of Marker. I watched his videos a lot back then.

Pie I saw as like the average one, not contributing much to things, in fact the most exciting thing they did was blow up. Eggy was their bestie.

Eggy was like the chipper but injury prone one. That's why they wear that bandage.

Pillow was the sleepy one.

TV I saw as like a cohost who always wanted to help out. They didn’t speak but they communicated using random clips of things. Maybe they were the cohost to my old interpretation of Remote?

Bracelety was the same as she ended up being. An Ice Cube fan lol.

8 Ball didn’t just not have a favorite number, he didn’t have a favorite anything. He was Mr. Basic.

Barf Bag was the stupid one (bit ironic now lol).

Clock was the know-it-all egotist. I think it was from his "Watches are wanabes" line. Perhaps maybe he felt superior and wanted everyone to know it lol.

Taco was basically like "the quirky main protagonist of a show where nothing goes right for them".

Fanny hated everyone and everything and isolates themselves from everyone else. They’re hurting and they’re lonely. Why were they hurting? Idk ask 11 year old me.

Grassy is for the most part the same as what he ended up being, just a fair bit more playful. He specifically liked to play hide and seek with Tree.

Tree was the calm and friendly father figure to Grassy.

Bell was like that one person who would sing about how great their morning was, about how the sun was shining and the birds were chirping. Basically all rainbows and sunshine and a singsong voice.

Bottle I never actually cared about so I didn’t actually portray Bottle as anything, but put her in here out of obligation.

The only real thing I did with Firey Jr. was make him the bratty son to Firey.

Naily was the tough jerk who always went after the “weaklings”. Saw was Naily's right-hand person. Saw tries to act tough, but they're not really tough at all. And Black Hole I saw as this wise all-powerful god that everyone went to for advice.

Though he mostly handled ghosts and other supernatural beings before forming a hero team with the other members. He was dubbed the leader for reasons even he's confused about. But has been doing the job well enough. He's like a big brother figure for a lot of the members. Often stepping into their affairs trying to help and or fix situations that might have nothing to do with them.

Timmy Turner: Danny sees Timmy like a little brother at times. He goes out of his way to help Timmy with his emotions and even with homework. He even tried to convince Timmy to live with him once he learned about his living situation. (Aka a street kid) They play video games, read comic books, and eat junk food until their hearts give off.

Jimmy Neutron: Funny enough despite seeing Timmy like family. Jimmy is his actual younger cousin. (Judy, Maddie, and Alicia were separated for years.) Danny sees Jimmy as some of the smartest on the planet. They often talk about theories and space travel. Jimmy's been to other planets, so Danny likes to listen in on the juicy details about space. I guess his only problem is Jimmy's lack of communication. They've argued because Jimmy refused to talk about the issue, ask for help, or apologize ever.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Bob and Danny can hang out for hours. Something about that mermaid like boy that makes Danny giggle. But he also repeats Bob for being able to balance, work, school, hero work, and everyday live without a complaint. Makes Danny think he's more capable seeing someone else manage. If anyone is able to keep Danny sane it's the Sponge-kin.

Jenny Wakeman: Jenny was the first hero Danny was able to work missions with. She figured out his secret identity on accident. So Danny confessed. Which worked perfectly as Jenny isn't that versed on the paranormal and Danny never fought an alien. So they were able to work together happily. They tell dad jokes together. Tuck and Dani are besties. He's only problem is he knows she has a crush on him. He figured it out early on. He was flattered at first but he doesn't want to upset her.

The Brains of the team. He personally wanted to be the leader but thing didn't go as planned. Still Jimmy is willing to do his part no matter what it might be. Provide a secret base, equipment, be the teams medic (even for the robot), he even bribed Timmy by doing his homework for an entire semester. He's annoyed but does it because someone has to do it. That and he doesn't like admitting it but he likes them.

Timmy Turner: Out of everyone in the group. Timmy is his bestfriend. Which is way they fight so much. Who else call you a punk ass bitch with full confidence more than your best friends. That and Timmy is stubborn. While Timmy is his bestie that will destroy shit with. Timmy is also the second person he's argued with throughout his life. It doesn't help that Timmy is magical which annoys Jimmy. He thinks magic's too easy and unproducible. You can hurt thousand without trying. At least with Science it's slow.

Danny Phantom: Jimmy's cousin and one of the only people 16 years old he repeats. Danny takes everything into note which makes Jimmy feel like he's appreciated. Though it annoys him that Danny has never tried to explore and experiment anything in the Ghost Zone. He has the golden opportunity. He also doesn't understand why Danny wants to keep his identity a secret. He's parents would try to kill him less, school would be more easy on him like it is with Jenny.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Bob remains Jimmy of Carl at times. Except Bob has to sleep in water. That sponge has tried to steal his devises to play around with. Has accidently lost his invisible hamster. And keeps rearranging his lab around despite Jimmy telling him not to every single time. But Jimmy does enjoy the humanoid sea creature.

Jenny Wakeman: Jenny is a saving grace. Jimmy panics without some type of technology on hand. Lucky for him Jenny is there whenever he calls. Though he doesn't like being babied by her. Nor treated like her "little" brother when she's technically 6 years old. Though as much as he hates to admit it. He enjoys having her there from time to time. He's gone out of his way so she can have citizenship and fix her sisters up so they can live her her full time.

The Lancer of the team and the only magic user. As Danny's more science when it comes to the supernatural. Timmy often relies on magic to help him which causes more problems being he's still learning how to use it. She's kind of the punk kid doing things for shits and giggles until something serious comes along. Then you get you to see his real self.

Danny Phantom: Timmy is a superhero fanboy through and through. Even if that famous hero is only two years older than him. That and Timmy is use to magical beings more than regular humans. But Danny's even cooler being he's a unique type of magical being. They act like brothers for most of the time. Though Timmy hates it when Danny tries to intervene with his life. Especially his home life. It causes the two to argue for days. Timmy prefers to fix his problems on his own.

Jimmy Neutron: It takes a lot to become one of Timmy's part of his inner friend circle. It took three city-almost-in-ruin events. But now they're besties. Timmy thinks Jimmy's inventions are awesome and loves to test them out with Bob. Jimmy can't say the same for Timmy's magic. But hey it is what it is. Though Jimmy is rather bossy and arrogant at times. Which causes Timmy to argue with him in the hopes it would cause he's ego to deflate. It doesn't but hey, it is what it is.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Timmy is willing to stab others for Bob. That's his buddy. Bob seems like an innocent guy wanting to help for the greater good. Timmy respects that because that generosity is hard to find. Though he thinks Bob is a doormat. He's often tried to get him to toughen up. Teach him how to flip people off. Bob knows full and well how, but doesn't see the point in it. So Timmy flips people off for him.

Jenny Wakeman: Again fanboys. Though unlike Danny he's not comfortable with opening up to her. I lot about his past and the many small crimes he's committed has caused him to fear when she'll rat him out. Otherwise he treats her like a sister, as she insists to be looked at as one.

Bob is the heart due to his comedic responses and heartwarming demeanor. He sees the good in everyone and believes in giving one hundred chances. Sadly this sort of view is what gets him in trouble like all the time. He does his best to impress others and has quickly jumped to outlandish assumptions. But he's proven important to the team time and time again. Bob has admitted though "he feels like a fish out of water" when it comes to the hero life.

Timmy Turner: They get along beyond well. Bob has no idea what a fairy is but thinks they're really pretty. They hang out almost all the time. Bob also has tried to follow Timmy advise. The word is try being the thought of losing his job hurts more than death. So he's kept his words and fingers to himself.

Jimmy Neutron: Jimmy like Sandy is the smartest person ever. He allows knows how to have fun. Even though Jimmy doesn't want Bob is mess with any of his things. Or the fact that Jimmy hates Patrick more than vampires hate the sun. Which breaks Bob's spirit a small bit but it is what it is.

Danny Phantom: Danny's great. He believes in Bob. Includes him in everything important. Which makes Bob feel like an actual member to the team. As if he's slowly becoming like his favorite superhero. That and ghosts scare him so Danny helps.

Jenny Wakeman: His past experience with robots didn't go well but he likes Jenny anyway. Even though Jenny can't visit his house or stand too close to him due to her being weak to water. But you can be friends with someone from across the room.

Alias: XJ-9

Real Name: XJ-9 (she prefers Jenny Wakeman.

Age: Mentally and Physically 16. Otherwise she's 6.

Gender: Trans Female She/Her (she was made genderless)

The Bronze of the team. Often going in to fight the villain without thinking on how to do so. She's also quick tempered. Though she's still sweet in her own way. Created to the be a superhero and longing for a regular teenage life. In an consent battle with her programming, her mother, and her own wants.

Timmy Turner: She sees Timmy as a pain. She wants to be besties with him like she is with Jimmy but he's distant with her. Though they seem to get along well enough. Jenny has saved Timmy and Danny from bullies so often that people stopped bullying him for a long time. To return the favor though she never asked. Timmy poured red dye on Brit and Tiffs white clothes.

Jimmy Neutron: Her soul brother. Jenny's use to geniuses. Which causes her to know how to talk to them. She watches documentaries with him and joins Jimmy on shit talking the video if it's insanely inaccurate. Though she's not letting his treatment towards Boibot go. Jimmy built him and threw him away. She doesn't care if he built him his own parents. He threw the boy away. She's gone out of her way to force the two to bond.

Danny Phantom: Danny isn't the first teen hero she's met though he's her favorite. She developed a crush on him fast. She tries to ignore her feelings because friendship is more important. But he has Icy blue eyes. Those are her favorite eye color on a guy! Besides that they work well together. She often punishes the boys when they're fighting while Danny comforts them. As if he's the mom and she's the dad.

SpongeBob SquarePants: He's sweet but he seems scared of her. Plus she can't really touch him without having to get repaired by her mom. Though Bob and Danny are pretty much immortal so if she has too she'll train with Bob.

How did Zimelu and Neon J realize they were trans? (I find it inspiring how those more “masculine” characters are Trans!)

Actually! All my 1010 are trans! I don't know if you knew that or JUST wanted Zimelu and Neon J, but I'm gonna talk about them all because I can! >:3c

Will put under a read more because it is pretty long. Also there is some transphobia mentioned, mainly vague with Neon but turns into a lot of internalized transphobia with Haym and Purl-hew.

Neon: I would say that Neon didn't realize he was trans until he was mid teens or early adulthood. He honestly thought he was a broken woman who liked both men and women. He did not know the term bisexual at the time (which he used for a while before identifying as pansexual), so he kinda said he as both gay and straight with his friends (he would never tell his parents he liked women when they saw him as a girl).

It wasn't until mid teens that he started experimenting with clothing and his appearance when out with friends that he started to realize he would rather be a guy. He always thought he was weird, but he thought it was just because of his sexuality and not his gender. Once he figured out he was trans (even if he didn't use that terminology at the time) his friends supported him and helped him look like a guy when they went out partying.

Unfortunately one of these partying led to a pretty bad accident that only Neon survived (one of the friends went into a coma but the other 2 died) and so, basically being an adult and having no other support system, Neon left home to go and find someone to help him transition to be a man and would soon join the navy and meet his future ex-wife.

He does not reveal he is trans for a very long time. His medical doctor in the navy was either a friend or a robot he got to swore not to tell anyone (which would later become Rin), so his trans identity was very well hidden except from his closest sailor buddies and at the time wife. Not even 1010 knew he was trans for a very long time after a few of them, or at least Zimelu, came out as trans (Rin has no knowledge of the war time and knowing Neon's transness).

Zimelu: It took a lot longer for Zimelu to figure out she was trans. As a doll/kid she never really questioned being a boy, and during the war she never even had a gender assigned to her. So once the MK1 model rolled around, all Zimelu ever knew and was treated as was being a boy.

Because of this she never questioned her gender identity. If anything, she questioned the "bad boy" role she was put into for 1010 because she never really liked breaking rules or being really mean, but she did it because she thought that is best for the group.

The only time she started questioning whether she was a boy or girl was after the Rock Revolution, and only when she started hanging out with Mayday. There were times before hand, with fashion shoots or helping Eve, that 1010 were put in experimental outfits, but never something very feminine so Zimelu never really got that moment of realization.

That is not until hanging out with Mayday and jokingly the two switched clothes for some reason, either a dare or just to do something stupid for fun. But it was wearing a very feminine outfit and seeing herself in the mirror with her hair down that made Zimelu stop laughing and joking around to just stare at herself in amazement. May and Haym were very worried at the sudden tone shift, but Zuke knew that look in Zimelu's eyes.

She ended up playing it off quickly and tried to go back to normal, but now there was a nagging thought in the back of her head that something was not right. Over time Zuke would try to casually bring the idea of being trans up, which made Zimelu uncomfortable because she thought if she was trans she would be decommissioned or rejected by her family, so she would always shut him down when in private or try to turn the conversation to something else when in public.

Purl notices how Zimelu is acting around Zuke and confronts him, Zimelu sees this, and the truth comes out between the three that Zimelu wants to be a girl and all her fears and insecurities come out with it. In the end, after some reassurance from Zuke and Purl, Zimelu comes out as trans to the family and is immediately accepted by Neon and the rest of the fam.

-And now for the other 1010 members. I'll try to be less detailed with the rest so not to make this super long, but we know I like to talk lol.

Rin: I would say Rin just never cared for its gender. Rin would just play the part of son/medical bot/leader/boy just because it was told that is what it is.

Honestly I think Rin has the most tame story of finding out its gender. It really was just some troll online trying to make Rin, or any 1010/robot, feel like shit by calling them an "it" which Rin just took and was like "Okay sure, I'll go by it" just to really stick it to an asshole online.

I kinda see this as like when people do something ironically and then it becomes a part of who they are. This is literally what happened with Rin lol. It really did just go by He/It for a while and after some time grew really attached to the It/Its label and made that its primary pronouns. Still sometimes going by he/him, but very much Rin's primary pronouns are It/Its.

Rin is probably still experimenting with labels. I had it as genderqueer, but it might also be agender. For the most part Rin is very casual about its gender and does not care all that much if people misgender it, but is also super happy when people use the correct pronoun for it.

Haym: Haym also had a really easy way of finding out his gender. Literally he transitioned without even knowing he was a guy. By that, I mean that when he was a doll/kid, he was a little girl, but then when made into an MK1 model, he was now seen and treated like a guy.

Like, as a little girl, Haym very much tried doing more stereotypical "boy" things like playing in the dirt or building stuff, instead of playing with dolls and putting on pretty dresses. "Tried" being a key word here. Martha, Neon J's ex-wife, really tried to enforce gendered roles onto young 1010, forcing Haym into more "girly" things (along with forcing Zimelu to do "boy" things even though Zimelu never truly tried to do too many "girly" things).

Haym was always upset and annoyed at this, but more so that he couldn't play the way he wanted to play and not as much as being denied his identity that he didn't even realize he had.

Once he became an MK1 though, and almost everybody was treating him like a guy, he was just super happy with who he was. He never even realized until Zimelu came out as trans, that he was technically trans himself. He still had in his code that he was a girl, but because he was treated like a guy and felt like a guy, he just ignored and forgot about that part of his code.

He embraced being trans, but also kinda realizes he does not have the same experience as his siblings who had to actually work to figure themselves out. He feels like he has some kind of privilege over them since he didn't have to suffer any real dysphoria or stigmatization over the years. It sometimes makes him feel guilty and not deserving of the trans label just because he was able to pass for so long as the gender he identified with.

I feel like he will never tell any of his family, friends, or lovers this though, and it will be a guilt he keeps to himself forever.

Eloni: Eloni is genderfluid. I actually do not have as much story for them as I do for everyone else. She would probably have been one of the later ones to come out as trans, probably second to last with Purl being the last to come out.

Because of this, I feel like Eloni was probably experimenting with labels in private with the fam. So one day Eloni would request to be called by just she/her pronouns, or would wear androgynous clothing. None of this would be done in public for fear and anxiety of having a label forced onto him by public perception.

In the end Eloni is just super confused on what they should have as a label because everything seems to fit well. Dress like a boy? Feels good! Dress like a girl? Awesome! Use neutral pronouns? Totally! Use either or both gendered pronouns? Yes please! Nothing seemed to bother Eloni to the point they wondered if they even were trans because to him, if everything felt the same does that mean I am all or nothing?

In the end though, I would say that either the Sayu Crew, or Purl and Rin showed Eloni the genderfluid label and that is the one Eloni chose to go by and later revealed to the public.

Purl was like Rin for a while, just playing the role assigned to them. They were the good little girl for their parents. They were an emotionless machine built for war. A cool and mysterious boy for the public eye.

Purl followed all the rules, did everything that was asked of them, and yet they were never happy. No matter how they changed their personality, how they acted, how they presented, they were miserable and hated themself.

Purl spent years wonder what is wrong with them, why they couldn't just stop and be what they were made to be. But that was the problem. Purl was built to be a girl, then forced to be a boy. Living both sides of the coin like Haym, but instead of being happy with the change, it left them more and more empty.

They questioned if they were broken, or if life was always supposed to be so dull and full of self hatred. Even before the revolution Purl was wondering what was wrong with them, how could they feel like nothing all the time.

Purl honestly thought they were some kind of spoiled kid for not ever being happy. They knew what it was like to be a girl and a boy, knew what it was like to not have basic necessities and yet to have everything they ever wanted, knew what it was like to be in war and peace, knew what it meant to be extremely busy and extremely bored. And yet they have no idea what it meant to feel nothing about yourself.

Purl already had some problems expression emotions, so figuring out they were nonbinary was not going to happen for a very long time. And even when they did, they denied themself of that label.

Purl saw their whole family go from being cisgender and straight to very queer in the matter of a few months to maybe a year or two. Everything was changing and the public eye was on all of them. Once everyone came out except for Purl, there were jokes among fans that Purl was the only "normal one" or that it was a matter of time before Purl came out as some random identity.

They hated this. Purl absolutely hated having the public watching their every move, and because they were watched they thought they had to actually live up to that "normal" role. Purl was going to pretend to be fully cisgender and straight. They were going to ignore the fact they were created as a girl, or that they liked masculine presenting people, and pretend to be the cishet one of the group for the fans.

This really took a toll on Purl's mental health. They were so miserable that they would isolate themself for days when not doing work for 1010. Already they felt isolated from the family for not being able to express emotions, and now they believed had to hide their own identity so the public would not turn on 1010.

It felt like everything and everyone was against Purl. Even when one of their siblings would try to reach out, which was honestly not often since they thought this behaviour was normal for Purl, Purl would just push them away and act like everything was okay when it truly wasn't.

The only reason Purl ever came out as nonbinary was because of DK West and Ex-Jay. Spending time away from family, in situations that were not in the public eye, is what allowed Purl to express themself finally. It also helped that in Purl's mind, if West or any member of Ex-Jay tried to out them, they could lie and say that West/Ex-Jay are making it up, then Purl could cut them out of their life.

It was an easy out to Purl that finally let them have a safe space to embrace their queer aspects of themself. Even if Purl was ready at a drop of a hat to cut out that safe space if there was even a chance of being outed, it was something. Purl was not longer entirely alone in life, and soon would come out publicly as nonbinary and using only they/them pronouns.

Even as they came out, they would only dress in masculine or androgynous clothes. It wasn't until like a year or two later that they were able to reconnect with their feminine side, which was something they were trying to kill because of childhood trauma. But now Purl can confidently wear a dress or makeup or whatever while not feeling like they are a woman. Or a suit and not feel like a guy.

Honestly, I feel like if it was not for the Rock Revolution, none of 1010 would be happy. Maybe Haym would be the only one as he was lucky enough to get the gender he wanted when becoming MK-units, and MAYBE Rin would have figured out it was agender/genderqueer, but absolutely not would Eloni, Zimelu, or Purl been able to figure out who they were. Especially not Purl.

-so it’s [a movie I was watching a few days ago] about being LGBTQIA+ and acceptance and all of that

-and it made me cry (that’s a big achievement not many movies can actually make me cry)

-and when the movie was finishing up I started thinking about the characters that I headcanon to be trans (aka five pebbles)

-and I wondered about how he would realize he’s trans in the setting of The Straying World AU

-for one, there’s the whole thing of humans not addressing robots with gender

-we usually use it/its pronouns when it comes to robots

-gender and pronouns would probably be instilled by either humans or fellow iterators

-it’s also interesting because if you think about it, gender identity wouldn’t be a problem with some of the robots

-when they start having kids (like with Seamus) they might have some problems with gender orientation bc parents might decide gender for them

-furthermore it might be harder to accept it if a robot decides they want to change, because the parents decided their gender for them

-with other parents though like Doc I think Doc would give Seamus they/them pronouns and let Seamus figure out what he wanted

-eventually Seamus would pick he/him pronouns and Doc would accept it

-I think the Companion outsiders, going back to the AU, would adjust very easily to 5P being trans

-I think that iterators would have a tougher time; they’ve known 5P longer and have an easier time fitting things into boxes and having them stay there

-Suns being they/he would help 5P though

-both of them would be anomalies to the other iterators, as they have chosen to go outside of their assigned boxes

-I think SRS would help 5P break out of his shell

-Iterators would probably be assigned genders as scientists saw them more as work partners rather than tools

-iterators would adapt quickly to their genders

-but after the humans died out, they might start to question the identities given to them

-and then 5P achieved his own gender

Rabbit Chase by Elizabeth Lapensee, KC Oster & Aarin Dokum

Anishinaabe culture and storytelling meet Alice in Wonderland in this coming-of-age graphic novel that explores Indigenous and gender issues through a fresh yet familiar looking glass.

Aimée, a non-binary Anishinaabe middle-schooler, is on a class trip to offer gifts to Paayehnsag, the water spirits known to protect the land. While stories are told about the water spirits and the threat of the land being taken over for development, Aimée zones out, distracting themselves from the bullying and isolation they’ve experienced since expressing their non-binary identity. When Aimée accidentally wanders off, they are transported to an alternate dimension populated by traditional Anishinaabe figures in a story inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

To gain the way back home, Aimée is called on to help Trickster by hunting down dark water spirits with guidance from Paayehnsag. On their journey, Aimée faces off with the land-grabbing Queen and her robotic guards and fights the dark water spirits against increasingly stacked odds. Illustrated by KC Oster with a modern take on their own Ojibwe style and cultural representation, Rabbit Chase is a story of self-discovery, community, and finding one’s place in the world.

Kyle is like that one friend everyone has in college. You need something done? Kyle’s got your back. Have a friend who needs a last minute ride to the airport? Kyle’s showing up at 3 am with snacks and caffeine. Nobody really knows how they first met Kyle, but everybody knows Kyle. He’s very relaxed, friendly, and honestly, where he born in a different era Kyle would have made an excellent surfer dude.

Story:

Kyle joined the military in order to study as an engineer. He specialized in robotics, and ended up designing a line of aide robots. His first successful prototype still follows him around most of the time. He’s called it Clank; Clank is his child. Should anything happen to Clank, he would kill everyone else in the room and then himself.

Once he finished with his Masters program, Kyle was shipped out to Polus in order to help fight against the Imposters. His specific assignment was to design a line of robots to fight so that humans wouldn’t be put at risk, however, it was quickly discovered that the Imposters could easily shift into a robot, and infiltrate the robotics lab and cause many problems. (Thankfully, Clank’s charging station was in Kyle’s room…the same couldn’t be said for the rest of the robots.)

Since the robots would no longer be an option, Kyle mostly patrolled around the base, helping Rynn to keep the machinery running. He did develop some robots to make processes go smoother, but since identity verification required at least one human personnel to oversee it, most of his robots were used to water plants or sweep the halls, never given the chance to leave the base.  During this time, Kyle became close friends with officers Odil and Jitil, the two being far closer in age to him than any of the other “permanent” staff onbase. By proxy, he also grew close to Commander Olo, who acted as the group's father figure. 

As the war ended, Kyle was shipped across the galaxy in order to update various location’s robotics before being moved to the next base.  When word reached Kyle about the declaration of death for Commander Olo and Officers Odil and Jitil, he withdrew from the military, being Honorably Discharged. Thankfully, he had made enough money through patents, as well as time in the military, that he began to simply travel. He explored Earth, visiting Rouvan often, and helping out wherever he could. He claims he’s trying to find himself, but he’s mostly trying to keep himself busy so he doesn’t have to remember that he’ll never see his familyfriends again. He does scattered hobbies such as basket-weaving, stained glass making, and sculpting, selling what he makes in order to keep his funds steady.
