WIP WIP WIP drawing a Modern Helsa AU that I haven’t thought about in a long time

I was a dumb teenager who boldly proclaimed that I’d make a modern Helsa AU novel a few years ago after assessing the shortcomings of Frozen 2, but then I got bored and never actually did it. However, I recently came across some of my old brainstorming and got inspired again, so I thought I might share some sketches that I was working on tonight.

This AU was called "Queens" (in reference to Elsa and Anna's royal status) and the basic idea is that Irene Everett (Elsa) is a graphic designer living in Queens, NY, in the late 80s-early 90s trying to be a single parent to her son, Oliver (Olaf) and that her sister Allison (Anna) and her boyfriend Joshua Borden (Kristoff) all help co-parent since Irene has to work late. Irene eventually runs into Hank Weston (Hans), working as a janitor at her job. He's trying to rebuild his life after spending time in prison for endangering Irene and Allison during a car accident and for driving drunk. Hank and Irene reconnect and form a relationship through trial and tribulation, romance and drama, and all that ensues.

Looking for Alpha Readers!

Intro and expectations

Heya! My name’s Berry(She/They) and I’ll get right to the mark. I’m currently writing a Frozen fanfic that is an Villain AU(based on Lydia the Bard’s villain Anna AU) and involves multiple characters that are OCs and some canon characters. But feel free to keep interested even if you’re not a Frozen fan! Just someone pasingly interested in Lydia’s content or the fantasy works too!

In terms of the Canon characters I plan to focus on(bold are considered major characters with planned POVs even if for one chapter.

-Anna -Caleb Westergaard -Prince Hans Wstergaard (NO HELSA) -Elsa -Lars Westergaard -Mathias -Yelana

My interests are VERY MUCH NOT sexually explicit content and my romances tend to not be the major focuses of them(my fics generally being in the “Gen” category). If you’re looking to not Alpha fics with sexual content but has romance I’m the fruit for ya! I also take heavy muse inspired from Six of Crows and Wings of Fire which have inspired my trend to have different characters be POVs. I’m generally interested in larger and grander stories in the best way I can describe as being like a “DnD Campaign but a retelling” and characters that are complicated and explore darker themes in a “Teen” rating way.

(I’m still debating some plotlines but of what I have rn)

Such themes or possible content that could be

Abusing upbringing, bullying, bullying main character, childhood neglect, descriptions of freezing and the cold affecting the body, character experience PTSD, character experience amputation induced phantom pain and a general plot point surrounding accepting an unconsented amputation.

As an Alpha reader I am asking someone to-

1. Look at my drafts and point out any major spell checking errors that aren’t caught with the word and Grammarly softwares I use.

2. Give me a first go to have a second set of eyes on it and see if generally the chapter just flows nicely.

So. Why do I need an Alpha Reader.

-I tend to start on things and not finish them even if I’m interested unless I set dedicated deadlines for myself. And knowing that there is going to be someone who will be reading this that I get is that extra incentive for me.

-I also put the Sexy in Dyslexia and I realize it’s much harder for me to spell check my fics and I’d rather focus that energy on keeping the character personalities in check each chapter.

-Additionally currently also in college and use up a loo of my writing/proofreading energy with those essay assignments. Having extra help just to not feel overwhelmed in editing my fics would be incredible!

Elsa couldn’t sleep. She had been lying on her bed in her old chamber in the Arendelle Castle for what felt like hours, but no matter how hard she tried to resist, she found herself thinking about him, constantly.

‘I want to thank you for the hospitality and the kindness you have shown me over the past ten months.’

She recalled the opening line from the letter that Gale carried and dropped on her windowsill earlier after dinner.

‘I am writing to you in case we don’t meet again, as I am leaving for Corona in a few days.’

Letting out a groan, the former queen turned to lay on her back. Her blue eyes gazed at the ceiling in the dark, and her hand unconsciously flew to her mouth, fingers tracing over her mauve lips.

‘I am sorry for what I did. I wish I didn’t complicate things even further.’

And so did I, she wanted to say. She bit her lower lip, unsure of what to say when she met him later—if she decided to come back soon and caught him before his departure, that is.

Elsa didn’t like this feeling—whatever it was that she felt—at all. Oh, to have someone living rent free inside your head that you end up thinking about them almost all the time, wondering what they were doing or if they were missing you at the moment. Oh, to yearn for their presence, to have your fingers tingling, wanting to comb through their hair as you pull them closer, their warmth engulfing your body as you’re tangled in an embrace. 

Oh, Elsa, I think you’re in love!

Shaking her head, Elsa pressed a pillow onto her face and she let out a scream in frustration. Her sister’s words rang in her ear, as she recalled the conversation she had with Anna the day before, when she visited Arendelle without warning. Anna was glad to see her, Elsa knew that, but she was also suspicious about her sudden arrival. It wasn’t like her at all to not write before a visit, but deep down, Elsa knew Anna already had a hunch about what had been bothering her.

I am not in love, Anna. It was my fault. I didn’t stop him, was all her reply. But was she, really?

Biting her lower lip, Elsa rolled over to reach for the neatly folded piece of parchment sitting atop her nightstand. She sat up, unfolding the parchment and skimming over the neat, princely, handwriting. Her breathing got heavier, and she began to pant, feeling that familiar warmth surging through her, turning her cheeks crimson. She had to tear her gaze away from the last paragraph, the part of the letter that she had been reading over and over again. Some might say she liked it a little too much.

‘I can say that I regret everything I did to you in the past, all the pain I’ve caused you and your sister, and your kingdom. But I cannot say the same thing about that, about this feeling that I feel for you, about me wanting to kiss you and show you how ladies can be seduced.’

Her free hand was on the side of her neck, sliding further down her collarbone, before resting on her chest, feeling it rising and falling with every breath she took. 

‘I love you, Elsa of Arendelle. Perhaps this is how the universe decides to punish me, to torture me with this forbidden feeling. I still haven’t repented for my sin enough to be worthy of your grace and mercy, yet against my will, I am falling for you.’

She could feel her heart palpitate underneath her palm, her eyes were closed and her body felt like it was set on fire, just like when he had her pinned against a tree with his lips pressing against hers and her fingers tugging on his auburn hair. If she wanted to be honest, Elsa thought that the kiss did awaken something inside her—something she had repressed and was now beginning to overflow. His previous unsent letters for her, which she found wrapped in leather inside his bag on the day he was washed ashore, had told her a lot about his journey. Of course, she had to double check the stories with those people he mentioned in the letters to make sure that it wasn’t another scheme orchestrated by the former prince, but then again, he had to be very stupid to ever think about planning a second takeover, not when he would immediately be arrested if he ever stepped a foot on the Arendellian soil and waters.

Now, after months of unwillingly getting to know him while she was supervising his every move during his stay, she had learned that they both were similar in a way, in understanding loneliness and solitude, in wanting to have a place to belong, although, in her case she already had it solved (or so she thought). But she understood him, this much she would admit, or she was just in denial, trying to act as if his smile didn’t make her stomach flipped—or if his kiss didn’t leave her wanting for more.

Elsa flopped back on her bed, gripping the letter tight to her chest. Warmth flooded through her as she recalled their last encounter, which made her flee the forest and go back home, like a timid girl she once was.

“Oh, Hans,” she sighed, lips trembling and eyebrows knitting. “I think I’m in love with you, and I’m terrified.”

Oh, how she wished she was braver than merely saying it out loud inside the comfort of her chambers.

Ask Game: 🧠 and 😈

Not-Quite-WIPS... Honestly, where do I start!? I get new ones all the time! I'll stick to just two here:

1. Last Unicorn AU (Frozen - Kristanna; Helsa; Aroace Elsa): the 4 spirits have left the forest a long time ago, so Elsa is on the search for the illusive 5th spirit to help save the others. She gets captured by Honeymaren and Ryder for their zoo, but clumsy assistant Kristoff frees her and reindeer Sven. Then they meet Anna, who has been raised by rock trolls, in the forest. Then they meet Prince Hans and King Wesselton at the castle by the sea. One day I will set words to this one but not anytime soon...

2. Frozen MMORPG (tentatively titled "In Real Life") (Kristanna; Elsamaren; Hans/Anna; Kristoff/Ryder): A group of OCs (the Frozen gang with different names) play Frozen: The MMORPG together when the Honeymaren OC (who is into it) meets the Elsa OC and drags her along to play with her brother (Ryder OC) and roommates (Sven and Kristoff OCs). Elsa OC recruits her brother Olaf OC and sister Anna OC, though Anna OC is very unwilling at first. Meanwhile, Anna OC and Kristoff OC know and hate each other in real life, but they fall for each other in game as they help each other through break-ups. What will happen when worlds collide and they find out who they are in real life? I have nothing written for this, but it has to manifest bc it's my husband's prompt and he specifically requested it for a birthday/anniversary gift. So it has to become more than an outline in my head at some point in the very near future...

3. Oh lots of drabbles/one shot ideas for the Kristanna Halloween Days event. Still pondering those, but I do have outlines (in my head) for Haunted Arendelle (birthday present for an IRL friend that actually reads and likes my fic) and Spellbound (birthday present for me!). Haha! I shall leave you in suspense for those.

What do I do that my readers hate? I can't be sure, but I give my characters flaws and they make mistakes (sometimes huge ones) and there's consequences. For example, in one story, Kristoff is an alcoholic, and he gets arrested for his third offense drunk driving (no one gets hurt) and gets sentenced to 5 years in prison, and it lands him in a coma another time. In that same fic, Anna loses her temper and says some really, really mean things to someone that didn't deserve her harsh words. And doesn’t take the morning after pill even though she promised she would. Every time I post chapters like that I always assume people will stop reading, but they keep showing up. I'm not sure that doesn’t mean they don't hate me, though lol.

Also, I'm sure, taking huge gaps of months and months between chapters for preservation of mental health. I know I shouldn’t feel bad about that, but I can’t help feeling a little guilty. I actually do have every intention of finishing them eventually! Promises!

“I’m pregnant.”

The moment he heard his wife say those words, Hans was stunned. His eyes widened in surprise, before he broke into grins and pulled her into his embrace and spun her around. He gently squeezed her shoulder, nuzzling her thick blonde hair.

“Oh, Kaere,” he said, kissing her temple lovingly. “This is the best news I’ve received today!”

The Admiral beamed in joy, but his smile quickly fell once he noticed the way her eyebrows knitted. He settled on the bed, pulling her to sit on his lap as he held her close.

“What is it, love, are you not happy?” He gently murmured.

“I’m happy, I really am,” Elsa sighed, looking up to him and pressing her lips tight. “But, Hans, what if,” she paused, “what if this one failed just like the previous three? I mean, there’s always the chance that I would miscarry this one. The doctor suggested that I should take a rest until he is certain that it would be fine.”

Hans felt the pang on his chest. Sure, he knew about her condition. Three times. They had to bury their stillborns three times: a boy, a girl, and a pair of twins. The thought of going through it all again haunted his mind. It was a possibility, and nobody could predict what would happen, but knowing that he couldn’t really prevent it from happening pained him. Although, he knew that they both should stay positive and do what they could to keep Elsa and the unborn safe.

Squeezing her hands lightly, he pressed a kiss on the top of her head over her hairline. “Hey, we may not know how it’s gonna be this time, but I’m here, okay? I’ll ask Anna to allow me to stay longer on land until we make sure that everything is gonna go well.”

He could sense that she wanted to resist, to tell him that he should just go back to his duty and that she would be fine there in Arendelle, but she didn’t. They both realised that this was the time when they needed each other the most.

“I’m sorry.” 

Elsa snuggled to him, burying her face into his nightshirt, one hand clutching the fabric. In return, the Admiral pressed another on her head.

“Hush, love!” Hans combed through her thick blonde hair, brushing it over her shoulder to fall like a silky curtain on her back. “Don’t be sorry. I may answer to the crown, but you are my wife. I will put you first above all else, as long as fate allows.”

Upon hearing those words, Elsa looked up. Her blue eyes were teary as she flashed him a small smile. She grabbed his hand and pressed a kiss on his knuckles, lingering a little longer on the wedding band. She went to cup his cheek and pulled him into a kiss.

Hans held his wife close, catching some fallen tears and wiping them off her cheeks. Elsa wounded her arms around his neck, fingers buried into his auburn locks, feeling the rough texture at her fingertips. They were desperate, in need of comfort, and they wanted to let it show in the kiss. 

“I love you,” she murmured, before slowly pulling away, but she still tried to keep him within close proximity.

Hans lifted her chin so he could gaze into those blue eyes. As firmly as he was when he said his vows, he said, “I love you. We’re gonna be fine, you hear me?”

The former queen nodded slowly. It was clear that she was still uncertain, but at least she had something, a hope, to hold on to, and the future didn’t look as bleak anymore now that she had his reassurance.

We’re gonna be fine, Elsa repeated, we have to be.

Hey, Anon! Thank you for the prompt, and sorry that it took a while for me to post it because I've been busy with uni. I hope this one suits your liking. From this post: send me a pairing and a number and i’ll write you a drabble.

Elsa had been stealing glances at her fiance’s toned back once in a while. She knew she should just let the Admiral be, but for some reason, she couldn’t stay put. Not when she was aware of those Arendellian young women giggling and staring at her fiance a little too long.

“Enjoying the view, Elsa?” Anna asked, nudging her side, as they stood in the middle of the garden, amongst the pansies and the dahlias. “I know I am.”

The former queen cleared her throat, still not darting her gaze from the Admiral, who was sparring with the Prince Consort. The two men seemed to enjoy the competitive fencing, but that wasn’t the only thing that drew her attention. Earlier, she and Anna were doing some dress fitting for the wedding, and afterwards, they decided to hang around to spend some quality time together. It was a nice autumn day, and the sisters went for a stroll in the castle garden, that was until they heard the sound of metal clashing from the other side of the courtyard.

“Now you sound like those girls in the corner, Anna,” Elsa muttered, sounding rather pissed.

The young women huddling together were whispering things and exchanging glances with one another, and Elsa couldn’t help but think that they were saying things about Hans. Well, it was true that he had been popular among the ladies, but Elsa always shrugged it off. But lately, she had been filled with rather possessive thoughts involving her fiance, and she didn’t know why. Was that because she heard rumours about one of the staff being cheated on by their partner? Elsa knew it was silly and foolish of her to ever doubt Hans’ loyalty, especially when they were counting dates to their nuptials, and not to mention that this man was basically walking on thin ice and if he ever took the wrong step he would fall into the cold freezing water. Elsa was certain he knew better than that, but still, it didn’t completely spare her from the annoyance when she saw those young women throwing glances at her fiance.

Anna let out a chuckle. “For someone who has been ogling her groom’s sweaty form, you’re very observant, Sister.” The former queen shot her sister a look, before she scoffed. It didn’t take long for Anna to put two and two together. “Wait a minute. Are you jealous?”

Looking away to hide her blush, Elsa only shrugged. Was she jealous? Well, she knew she could be petty sometimes, but was she really?

“No!”

“Sounds more like a denial to me,” Anna grinned. “Just admit it, Elsa, or I’m telling Hans about your little jealousy.”

Elsa’s eyes widened. “Don’t you dare!”

“Try me.” Winking, the little sister grabbed the skirt of her gown and sprinted across the yard towards where the men were.

“Anna!” The blonde sister squealed, before going after her sister. 

Raising her arms, Elsa threw some snowballs in her direction, grinning mischievously. They might be older now, but it didn’t stop them from letting themselves loose sometimes. By now, the two men had noticed the intruders. Seeing this as an opportunity, Elsa waved her hand to form a bigger snowball and threw it at Anna, who bumped to and tackled Kristoff to the ground. A pair of arms caught her waist as she was about to launch another attack, pulling her back.

“Woah, woah, easy there, Kaere, have you been day-drinking again?” Hans asked, rather concerned. “You’re flushing, are you alright?”

Anna was laughing, trying to brush away the snow from her dress, while Elsa was squirming in her fiance’s grip. She was about to respond, but her sister beat her to it.

“If you think that Elsa needs some liquor to be this feral, then you don’t know her,” Anna grinned, getting on her feet with the help from her husband. “Also, there’s more than one way to make one’s cheeks flush, am I right, Elsa?”

Elsa shot her sister a look, before turning to the Admiral. “Ignore her, she’s being goofy today.”

“And you’re being moody out of sudden, one may think you’re jea–”

Not letting her sister finish her sentence, Elsa threw another snowball at her face, silencing her. Nodding at her brother in law, who was trying to suppress his grin, Elsa then grabbed her fiance’s arm to lead him away.

“What was that about?” Hans raised an eyebrow, grabbing his discarded shirt from the ground. He didn’t put it on immediately, and from over his shoulder, Elsa caught those girls staring at the Admiral’s back again.

“Nothing,” she shrugged, before she stood on her tip-toes and wounded her arms around his neck. “I just don’t want her to interrupt when I do this.”

In a swift movement, the former queen pulled the Admiral into a kiss and spun them around slightly, letting everyone know that he was hers.
