hear me out: geto suguru was never a naturally good kind person
his outward facing personality was a constructed facade, and he defined his behavior according to strict rules and morals, which is why he was so affected when the logical foundation of his worldview began to show contradiction

i think if the C.O.P.S. didn't exist superball would be my favorite recurring side character. he's simple and straightforward. lightning flashes behind him when you say his name. there is a nonzero chance he is autistic about doors. he is even transgender

playing ts2 pleasantview is even funnier to me sometimes, cause i've also played ts1 and had messed with the premades in the past in such intricate ways, which the developers had never intended in the sequel.
like i actually remember making daniel pleasant and cassandra goth as a power-couple of the ugly ass (thank you game for the randomly assigned heads) wizards with their own dragon farm. daniel had moved to the goths' mansion and i had to starve mortimer and bella in order to continue the legacy.
those two were genuinely super sweet with each other and had, like, two adopted children and three dragons, though daniel had died in the fire, once he tried to charm the flamingo statue and cassandra had been mourning him automatically for days. they definitely were the couple in my ts1 game (only behind elden/claire and chris/melissa).
the bummer is that i had already known how the developers intended them to grow up and behave later on, but this didn't stop me from matching them up for fun. i was more surprised how much i became attached to them. "fuck, did i really think that daniel/cassandra was a cute couple?" in that kind of way.
but in ts2 universe i can't even IMAGINE them to be on friendly terms, let alone dating each other. i've always imagined them being on that passive-agressive terms and they are only nice to each other whenever mary-sue enters the room.
dan thinks that cas is a big weirdo and spoiled naive nerd, while cas thinks that he's a massive dumb prick who can't keep it in his pants (and honestly, mary-sue could've done so much better).
yet now, with the new hood being set up in ts1, i kinda want to pair them up again.
they are so cute, it's illegal

to go off on that, i see and Get the appeal to of adding, idk, modern mindsets and acceptance to stories where the setting definitely didn't or still doesn't/wouldn't have it, but if done so much that it starts getting taken for granted, we very much do lose something from storytelling.
there was still a huge lack of awareness even in places like nyc that bisexuality was A Thing, that there's a word for it and that it exists, as semi-recent as the 90's. in the mid 2010's, the concepts of ace and poly were just starting to branch out to a wider sphere. there was one interview about brokeback mountain (early 2000's) i think where one of the cast or crew said about these characters who navigated the 50's thru the 80's of that particular region that they might not even really know what "gay" is.
all this to say that it's worth it to remember and acknowledge the differences in separate places and times. even now, a queer story that takes place in one modern location isn't going to be the same if set in another place, or with a different community, even if it's the same era. sometimes i see headcanons for characters where all of today's orientations and id's are assigned but they're from a story where these characters would, like with brokeback, may barely know what "gay" is, never mind if through our lenses today, that's what it looks like they are. a lot of them are not using the same mindsets or labels or perspectives, are not going to id themselves the way today's audiences might be inclined to, and some important parts of storytelling are lost if this aspect is disregarded entirely or even too much.

reread the rest thus far of lackadaisy and there's the both v easy & difficult task of gathering a shit ton but only a shit ton of excerpts (like every single page is a highlight i'm not exaggerating)
and every single element is superlative and the way it all only becomes More So....already mentioned the way the like smooth gradient shading made the successful evocation of 3D Shapes more noticeable, along w/the consistent geometries of character design & details in fabric folds; the way Lighting & Coloring only goes on to become more prominent elements only enhances that further. the compositions, backgrounds, pacing, angles....everything is so dynamic & expressive, such as including the expressions which you know i also Love / absorbed
going "hell yes for people to discover this superlative comic" then having to occasionally refresh past site traffic overloaded server errors like "nooo" but actually yes
whilest clapping & cheering for the fun of everyone who's been here a minute. My God the invigorating reward when again i started reading in '07 & the concept of rocky & freckle on a "proper" run had only manifested via fun official bonus art, then a literal decade later as it was actually happening in the comic like screeeeaammm i can feel it coming in the air tonight oh lord etc....i've loved following it, again, if i see another new comic page. i am going to be Enriched
i also really was right on the ball myself this time around like okay okay yep i have picked up on Everything, at least to the degree i can lmao. i love the mysteries. i love how Character Focused it is too ofc and there's no characters i'm uniterested in / dislike. you gotta point to one of them, truly, and i have been a [pointing at freckle] enjoyer these fifteen years but fr i am a connoisseur of everyone, i love that so many characters are a weird mysterious chaos element story driver in their own right. i considered mordecai more intently than ever, love his like ultra mystery (and that we leave off on him doing some detectiving even) and truly fun that like, the source of the more Immediate problems he keeps having in every damn interaction isn't the like [wow mordecai with the just diving into the hatchet murdering] factor so much as it's that he's generally like "i am just standing here" and is not nt in any way that matters and people insist on fucking with him on that front. the peak tragedy of him in a bonus comic getting bullied into having to dance with someone to Be Polite like i'm so sorry i wish you could be that ficus too. anyways intrigued with the marigold &/or mordecai mysteries including that it's like, how coincidental is it that he talks about marigold having a thorn in its side & the savoys' nickname for him is peekon = thorn. there is so much to consider, love that for us truly. and i'm rooting for mordecai & nicodeme's dynamic out here, is another conclusion....very enriched by comparing & contrasting that serafine nicodeme mordecai triumvirate with the rocky ivy freckle one, to be sure. im enriched
i'm also enriched by every footnote that's got like historical facts / research notes / [this is inaccurate for xyz prioritization but here's the disclaimer] explanations. i Love information. and everything else like i loooove this comic it's Soooo Fucking putting my hands to my temples and inhaling at length through my teeth

I can sit and critique forever as I am the world's proudest hater but I do feel that a lot of the snark around Vengeful is just people crucially misunderstanding the point of the villains universe. it's fucking camp! everything is self aware and overdramatic and reads like a published (albeit very good) fanfiction. if you're in specific circles you absolutely recognise the tropes schwab is pulling from and the tongue in cheek references she makes and all of them are on some base level FUNNY. I don't think it can be read with 100% gravitas because as much as it is brutal and visceral and about extremely traumatized people desperately clutching onto each other because carrying on feels easier than trying something new, it is also a book in which the girlboss mafia leader queen gets taken out by a naked college quarterback . schwab likes nice and wrapped up endings and after dealing with stief and Muir it is a BREATH OF FRESH FUCKING AIRRRR

so i um....i got into the goblin camp in bg3, i killed all three of the head honchos (SOMEHOW....), and the fight with minthara was genuinely so nervewracking i thought we would lose until the very moment we beat her. like. jesus christ. i think karlach, gale, and astarion are actually a pretty good team bc i can play both offense AND support so they dont go down lmao but i decided to take a long rest while still in the goblin camp bc its going to be So Fucking Difficult to get out of there. i cleared out the whole temple/main building because i couldnt sneak out. also i saved halsin 😊 teehee....it was fucking wild man it was sooo much fun i really love turn based combat in crpgs
