#hinny kids
so tired of everyone saying James Sirius would be just like his namesakes when he's literally an oldest child. he'd be the one dragging albus and lily by the ears back into their rooms before the professors find them out of bed.
(not saying he would get caught tho)

@hinnymicrofic June Day 5: Dirty
Harry always came back from his playdates with Ron Weasley extremely dirty.
Molly had tried to apologize to them about that once. Lily had laughed it off. “Boys will be boys,” she’d told her son’s best friend’s mother.
“We’re sorry about Harry getting Ron into all this trouble,” James had added. “I’m sure he’s the instigator.”
Thus had borne the friendship between the adults as well.
This last one, though, had had her eight-year-old son grumbling like never before. “It’s not going to be just Ron and me this time!” He complained. “His whole family will be there.”
“Sounds like fun to me,” Lily had said, trying to wrangle him into decent clothes rather than the garish monstrosities he liked to wear at home. James’ influence, certainly.
“It’s not,” Harry whined. “Fred and George are cool, but Percy is the worst. He doesn’t like playing and is all smug about going to Hogwarts and is always lecturing Ron an’ me about getting so dirty!” He sniffed and crossed his arms. “And Ginny’s a girl!”
“What’s wrong with that?” She asked amused. “I’m a girl, I’ll have you know.”
Harry waved it off with childish imperious impatience. “You’re Mummy,” he said importantly, like those things were mutually exclusive. “’S different.”
“Oh, is it?” Lily began tickling her son mercilessly. “I’ll show you what girls can do!”
Harry began to giggle helplessly, attempting to fend her off. “Stop, Mum! Dad! Dad, help!”
It had grown into an all-out tickle and pillow war, with the boys ganging up on her before she trounced them handily.
“Don’t underestimate girls, son,” James had groaned at Harry, who nodded miserably in reply.
They’d sent him off with hugs and kisses through the Floo, and Molly came in their fireplace to announce his safe arrival.
“He loves Ron,” James assured her. “And he’ll get over the others being there. He’ll have fun.”
Lily smiled at him mischievously. “And whatever will we do while he’s there?”
They had plenty of fun themselves, and were waiting for Harry to come through three hours later.
He was practically glowing, despite being so incredibly dirty.
“She’s amazing!” He said, starstruck.
They exchanged a look with raised eyebrows. Their son looked to be in love. “Who is?”
“Ginny, of course!” Harry exclaimed, like they were ridiculous for not knowing when he hadn’t ever expressed anything like this. “She played awesome! She was on my team, and we beat everyone!” He beamed.
“Wow,” James said enthusiastically. “She sounds great.”
Harry nodded wildly. “And she flies really good, Dad. Better than you, even!”
Lily highly doubted a seven-year-old girl flew better than someone who could have gone professional, but amused at their son’s gushing, they humoured him. “Oh really?”
“I’ll have to fly against her, then.” James said, smiling.
“She’ll beat you,” Harry assured them. “She’s the best. I told Mrs. Weasley that she should always be there to play with us.”
“So she’s a better friend to you than Ron?” James asked.
Harry looked conflicted, before his face cleared. Lily couldn’t wait to hear his reply. He adored Ron from the bottom of his heart, but it looked like Ginny was his first crush. She couldn’t believe her baby was so grown up already.
“No!” He exclaimed. “Ron’s my best friend. Like Uncle Sirius is to you, dad!”
“And what is Ginny?” He asked.
“She’s what Mum is to you!” Harry said, obviously very pleased with himself. Lily and James both choked, in laughter and shock. “I’m gonna marry her someday!”
Lily recovered first. “Sure thing, big boy,” she ruffled his hair and he pouted up at her. “But now you need to go wash and get all that dirt off you.”
He nodded easily – he was an obedient child except for his wild streak – and made his way up the stairs to his room. Lily and James stared at each other.
“His first crush,” James said, sounding half-pained, half happy.
“Apparently, he’s going to marry her one day,” she said, experience the same mixture of emotions. “Let’s not tell him kid crushes don’t usually work out.”
“Oh, I don’t know,” James grinned at her. “Mine did.”
“Oh, shove off!” Lily grumbled playfully, but she was smiling.
“I was eleven years old when I got my first crush, and I did end up marrying her.” James continued. “Who’s to say Harry won’t?”
“Who’s to say indeed,” Lily laughed, kissing her husband.
Harry and Ginny’s story would certainly prove to be interesting.
Lily couldn’t wait to see that and the rest of her son’s life unfold.

#8 - Alone, for @hinnymicrofic
Another lightning striked and Harry went and left their bedroom door ajar.
He came back and lied beside Ginny.
"Any second now. Do you think we should just go and bring them before they stumble their way in?" She mumbled, sleepily.
Harry let out a soft chuckle, "Lily might sleep through the storm. Don't want to go and wake her if she's sleeping. And I'm sure James and Al won't be thrilled if I went and asked them if they were sacred and wanted to come here."
Ginny made a sound of appreciation, "You got that right. The boys' egos won't be able to handle such humiliation as sleeping with their parents."
He turned on his side and hugged her, "Why are they growing up so fast? It feels like yesterday when James and Albus were following behind me like little ducklings to see you, holding a bundled up, baby Lily in your arms."
Ginny shifted closer to him, wrapping her arms around his, "I know. They were so small. I miss when they used to be so small."
Harry let out a sigh, when he heard a dash of footsteps. He looked up to see a small shadow dashing into the room.
Ginny shifted and opened the covers to let Lily in.
"I didn't want to be alone. Can I sleep with you today?"
Ginny brushed Lily's hair, "Of course, sweetheart."
"You can sleep here anytime you want, love. We're always here for you, darling." Harry added, looking at his daughter.
The storm seemed to strengthen and after another vicious a clap of thunder, another two pair of footsteps came and stalled at the door.
"Come inside, boys!"
Harry shifted, making room in the bed just in time for James and Al to crash onto the bed.
"Here, get inside the covers."
"Oof, AL is hitting me."
"I'm not. You're one kicking me."
After a bit of shuffling and grunting, they settled.
"You boys did not get scared by any chance, did you?"
Harry heard two scoffs.
"Of course, not." James and Al replied together.
"Liars." Lily whispered into Ginny's ears, but her voice came out loud enough for everyone to hear.
Ginny started giggling at her daughter's sly comment and Lily giggled watching her mom's reaction.
Harry lost control listening to their giggles and chortles and started laughing.
James and Al struggled to hold on to their act, but seeing their dad burst out laughing made them lose it and soon the entire bed was shaking with their laughter.
Harry caught Ginny's eyes and smiled, the same thought on their minds, 'Maybe we do have some more time before the kids are all grown up and don't need us anymore.'

Hinny prompt (you choose, happy, angst, both…) when married Hinny talking about kids
Happy!
The moment that Ginny crossed the threshold of their home, she threw her shoes unceremoniously to the side.
“Long day?” Harry teased, helping her with the shopping bags.
“Do you remember when we decided we wanted a big fancy wedding with hundreds of guests?”
“Er—no.”
“Exactly!” She kissed him softly on the lips before throwing herself on the couch; Harry joined her, placing her feet over his legs so he could massage them. A tiny contented moan left her lips. “Why couldn’t Hermione and Ron elope just like a normal couple?”
“Watch it, your mum hasn't forgiven us still.”
“Oh, don’t worry, you have done nothing wrong. She blames me for deviating you from the right path.” She threw her head back suddenly, closing her eyes as Harry hit a particularly good spot on her foot. “Speaking of the right path—there.”
He laughed. “I’ve been told my hands are magical.”
“And as the only person telling you this — I guess —
"You are," he assured.
"—I've never been more grateful. My feet hurt so much.”
“At least the shopping is over,” he said bracingly.
Ginny sighed. “I wish. I had to leave my dress there for more adjustments.” She popped one eye open, watching him meaningfully. “Turns out I gained a little weight in the last month.”
“Oh.” He couldn’t help his grin. “She didn’t comment anything?”
She shook her head. “Hermione is too worried about the wedding... We will tell them after they marry, we don’t want to steal their moment.”
Harry nodded. "Knowing Hermione, she will only be upset she didn't realise the signs before."
She snorted.
Then Ginny turned on the couch so she could nest against his chest; Harry’s hand fell to her waist.
“It doesn’t look like you’ve gained weight yet,” he mumbled.
“I will let you know my boobs look amazing.”
Harry sighed happily, “Gin—your boobs are amazing.”

April Prompt #16: Holiday for @hinnymicrofic
Harry stood perfectly still, his hands shoved in his pockets and his chin jutted towards the ceiling. He started to count to ten but quickly realized that he would need to up the number to at least fifty to keep from shouting at his two eldest children. The simple fact that he felt the urge to yell at his children meant that they had managed to anger their father more than normal. Harry put up with a lot from his kids. He grinned and rolled his eyes at most of their pranks or lectured them until they were ridden with guilt when they would go too far. This… Harry closed his eyes and started to count to fifty.
His head pounded as he stood inside the International Portkey Office in the Ministry of Magic. They were supposed to catch a Portkey to New York City for Luna and Rolf’s wedding and then enjoy a holiday after. Harry was beginning to think that they would not make said Portkey.
“I cannot believe how irresponsible the two of you are!” Ginny exclaimed with her face as red as her hair, clenching her fists at her sides. “Of all the days you had to pull one of your silly little pranks, it has to be at the Portkey Office?”
Looking down, Harry stared at his children. Teddy and James squirmed under Ginny’s scolding. Albus snickered from his chair, his legs swinging in a steady rhythm. Lily leaned up against her father’s legs and huffed out a string of whines.
Turning his head, he watched as a team of custom agents rifled through their seven bags of luggage. Harry had tried to tell Ginny that she had packed too much for their week and a half holiday to America but she pretended not to hear him and continued to stuff the bags until they were ready to rip at the seams. He swore that he saw her place a Reinforcing Charm on at least two of the bags. Glancing down at his battered watch that once belonged to Fabian Prewett, Harry groaned. Their Portkey to New York was set to leave in ten minutes, and he wasn’t sure how they were going to catch it.
“I’m sorry, Auror Potter, but we have to search the bags after the… erm… the illegal fireworks went off,” the Head of the International Portkey Office explained as he shot him an apologetic smile and tugged on the collar of his robes. “If they catch wind of this in New York and found out we didn’t search your bags thoroughly… I mean, I’d be fired, you know.”
“If we miss our Portkey because of your fireworks prank, your bottoms won’t sit on a broomstick until you’re each seventy-five!” Ginny continued to rage.
“We weren’t trying to pull a prank!” Teddy exclaimed as he squirmed. “We wanted to take them to Luna and Rolf’s wedding and set them off. Uncle George said-”
Ginny’s eyes grew wide. “Why in Merlin’s name are you listening to your Uncle George? What have I always told you boys?”
“Err… if Uncle George thinks it’s a good idea, it probably isn’t?” James supplied.
“Never accept any prototypes from Uncle George?” added Teddy.
James furrowed his brow as he concentrated. “Never eat anything that Uncle George gives us?”
Ginny looked crazed as she shot a look over at Harry. He offered a smile that came out as a grimace. Harry looked down at his watch. They were down to eight minutes until their Portkey left.
Harry shifted his weight as he looked over at the Head of the International Portkey Office. “I don’t mean to use my position as Head Auror, but my family and I cannot miss this Portkey. It’s imperative that we make it tonight because the one tomorrow night leaves too late.”
“I’ll see what I can do, Auror Potter.”
Harry thanked him with a forced smile. He glanced down at his watch again. If they missed their New York City Portkey then they would certainly miss their Portkey to some place called the Finger Lakes where the actual wedding was taking place. It was to take them directly to the bed and breakfast where they were staying.
Ginny pointed a finger at the empty seats next to Albus. Teddy and James didn’t hesitate to obey the order. They slouched down into the chairs and tried to make themselves as small as possible. Lily let out another loud whine as Harry reached down to haul the small girl up into his arms.
Ginny crossed her arms over her chest as she stood next to Harry. “Your sons are going to be in so much trouble when we get home from America.”
Harry frowned. “Why are they always my sons when they do something wrong?”
Ginny bumped her hip against his. “Because you have a penchant for trouble that they seem to have inherited from you.”
Harry couldn’t help but roll his eyes at the statement, the corners of his lips tugging up. Ginny grabbed his wrist to look at the time and let out a string of swear words that Ron would be exceedingly proud of as the Portkey Office bought in a several more employees. Harry sank down into a chair next to Albus, wincing at the terrible start of their holiday.

February 14th, 2013
written for @hinnyfest prompt #12: valentine’s day
Piles of snow lined the cobblestone path as Harry and Ginny walked hand in hand up High Street. The Three Broomsticks’ front windows glowed warm and inviting as they passed, but they didn’t duck into the crowded pub. Instead, they continued further up the slope past Hogsmeade Station and toward the towering winged boars in the distance.
It was slow going, between the slush and snow and Ginny’s protruding belly, it took twice the amount of time to hike up the hill and into the shadow of the castle.
They veered right before they got to the oak front doors, a trench dug path leading them around the side and in the direction of the forest.
Ginny squeezed Harry’s hand. “Are you nervous?”
“A bit, yeah,” his own grip tightened around her palm. “You?”
She shrugged. “More excited, I think.”
Nodding to himself, Harry helped her across a particularly slippery patch as the silhouette of Hagrid’s hut came into view. The postage stamp windows shone bright in the distance, smoke curling up from the chimney and half a dozen hippogriffs in the paddock around back.
Approaching as fast as Ginny’s stunted waddle would allow, Harry mounted the front steps and pounded on the door.
They heard a high-pitched bark followed by some muffled grumbling, then the door was thrown open and Hagrid appeared holding a wiggling mess of dark fur. His hair and beard had streaks of gray threading through the tangled black, and he had new wrinkles around his nose, but his black eyes were just as warm and kind as ever.
“Harry!” he called in shock, then those sparkling eyes slid past Harry’s shoulder and he broke into a grin. “Ginny!”
“Hi, Hagrid!” Ginny beamed back.
“Wha’ in the ruddy hell are ya doin’ here?” Hagrid stood aside to let them in and nearly dropped the puppy in his arms in the process. “Don’ you know it’s Valentine's Day?”
“We’re in town for dinner,” Harry explained, stomping the chill from his feet as a swooping feeling leapt in stomach. “Thought we’d surprise you.”
“Lily with you?” Hagrid looked around like they had her stashed beneath their coats.
Ginny unraveled her scarf and shook her head. “She’s with mum for the night.”
“Bring her next time, will ya?” Hagrid’s eyes crinkled in the corners. “Brutus needs sumn’ to play with.”
Brutus chose that moment to finally wriggle free from Hagrid’s grasp. The Newfoundland pup sprang at Harry, nearly knocking him into the curio cabinet and jumping on his back legs until Harry scratched behind his ears.
While Hagrid busied himself at the grate, putting the kettle on and pulling a plate of rock cakes from the cupboard, Ginny and Harry found seats around the overlarge table. They chatted about Hogwarts and the Ministry and Neville’s new use for the school pumpkins.
Hagrid set down two steaming cups of tea in front of them and nodded at Ginny’s middle. “Won’ be long now.”
Ginny grazed her palm around the top and smiled. “Two and a bit weeks, though I feel like I’ll pop any minute.”
Hagrid chuckled and took a seat. “Lily ready?”
“No,” Harry laughed. “She hasn’t got a clue what she’s in for.”
“Neither does that little one,” Hagrid chortled behind his tea mug. “Havin’ Lily for a sister.”
Ginny kicked Harry’s foot beneath the table and gave him a pointed look.
The swooping feeling came back in full force and he swallowed around the sudden tightness in his throat. “That’s actually why we stopped by…”
Hagrid blinked curiously, his brows knitting together.
“So,” Harry hesitated, wondering how he’d forgotten all his carefully rehearsed words. “We haven’t told many people yet, just Ginny’s family really, but we’re having another girl-”
“A girl!?” Hagrid boomed. In his excitement, he knocked into the table and sent tea spilling over the brim of all their mugs.
“Yes, and,” Harry couldn’t hold back the grin spreading across his face. He reached for Ginny’s hand and slid his fingers between hers. “What with everything you’ve done for- Well, we want you to know how much you mean to us. To both of us. And if it’s alright with you, we’d like to call her Ruby?”
Hagrid stared at them for the space of several seconds, silence lingering in the cabin. A log popped in the fire and Harry had just begun to think they’d made a huge mistake when Hagrid’s eyes welled with tears and he buried his face in his hands with an almighty howl.
Ginny’s eyes shone with moisture as she reached over to pat Hagrid’s massive forearm.
“You’ve always been family to us,” she spoke softly, her voice a bit thick. “We wanted to make sure you knew that.”
Pulling out a massive handkerchief, Hagrid blew his nose loudly then turned his watery gaze to Ginny. He tried to speak, opening and closing his mouth twice before bursting into gasping sobs again.
It took several mugs of tea and a little bit of brandy for Hagrid to get back to halfway normal. He asked them on three separate occasions if they were really sure about it. Sure that there wasn’t some other name that held more meaning, someone else they could honor in such a way?
“No one,” Harry said firmly.
Hagrid’s only response had been to pull Harry into a backbreaking hug.

WIP game: Rendezvous - Microfic, Lily L Potter POV, embarrassing parents LOL - what did Harry and Ginny do?????
Ah! Lily and her siblings are young adults in this one.
Lily is bringing her new boyfriend home to meet the family for the first time and just wants them all to be normal. Unfortunately, Harry is being overprotective and deliberately terrifying Auror-Harry, while Ginny is wildly over-compensating by being far too friendly (and possibly *ahem* affected by the presence of Auror-Harry).
Albus and James aren’t helping: James’s girlfriend just dumped him so all love is doomed, and Albus is too busy being intellectual and reading poetry to be bothered with any of them.
I like the concept very much, but haven’t quite been able to make it work yet.

Conversation
Hermione: Is Harry *still* making snowmen with the kids?
Ginny: He’s been at it for hours with them.
Hermione: He’s more of a big kid than Ron.
Ron: Impossible! But to be fair to him though, he never did that when he was the same age as the kids.
Ginny: That’s why I let them play. Harry’s been a different person since the kids came into our lives.

June Prompt #14: Quiet for @hinnymicrofic
The little cottage they had rented on the shore was cool and quiet. The boys were passed out in the lounge, Lily Lu tucked neatly into her sleeping bag in the second bedroom. They had spent all morning playing in the sand and water, Harry discretely magicking flames into the portable barbeque they had dragged down with them so they could picnic on the beach. When the tantrums and bickering swelled to full volume the moment their plates were clear, Ginny and Harry shared a knowing look and packed everything away, herding their brood back up the weathered steps over the dunes and into the blessedly cool air of the cottage.
Ginny's eyes were in danger of sealing shut after her shower, listening to the soft breaths of her sons and the muted shhhhshhh of the water running for Harry's shower. She felt herself slipping into that floaty half-asleep state, when the quiet was broken by an almighty hollar, followed by the delighted squeal of a little girl up to no good.
Thundering steps echoed above. Lily made her entrance into the lounge, giggling into the faces of her brothers, blearily wiping the sleep from their eyes. Ginny sat at attention, listening to her daughter's tale.
"Daddy has a tail and I pulled it!"
Harry rounded the corner, dripping wet and a towel wrapped hastily around his waist, panting and face burning a deep red. Teddy's sleepy expression morphed into horrified disgust as Lily's words sunk into his brain, his hands cupping his bits protectively.
Harry's eyes met Ginny's and she struggled to control the twitching of her lips at the betrayed expression he wore, until she simply couldn't anymore. She cackled loudly, head tilted back to the ceiling, and belly aching as she struggled to catch her breath. Harry scoffed and retreated back up the stairs to dress.
Sometime later, the family had settled down to watch a movie, something still a bit of a novelty to Ginny. She and Harry were cuddled up under a heavy quilt, listening to their children dropping off into Dreamland one by one until finally they were the only two awake. Ginny's fingers stroked his thigh lightly, teasingly. He stiffened under her touch, and a soft chuckle escapes her before she could reel it back.
"Don't laugh. It was traumatizing."
"Want me to kiss it better?"
Her lips brushed his ear, her tongue poking out to curl around his lobe.
"Oh, fuck yes."
They shuffled as quietly as they could up the stairs, leaving their children prone on the floor, locking and silencing the bedroom door behind them with a wave of their wands.
Downstairs, all that was heard was blessed quiet.

Can you imagine romione talking about the mess that is wtf was Harry thinking naming a child after Snape
To be honest.
Wtf was Harry and Ginny thinking?
I already touched on the names in this post
In my opinion the boys name should have been James Rubeus/Albus Potter and Sirius Regulus Potter. I don't have a problem with James Sirius. Other than Sirius deserved to have someone directly named after him. Fabian and Gideon Prewett deserves to be mentioned as well.
Child protective services would have been called on Harry and Ginny if they named their son "Albus Severus" in the 2000s. Words can't describe my dislike for that name. I don't mind the idea behind it. But that is such an ugly name. And I don't believe Harry would have called his son "Severus". The man bullied one of his and Ginny's best friends for years. Snape had a borderline creepy obsession with his mom. And talked badly about Harry's father at every given opportunity. And Snape would 100% not have wanted Harry's child to be named after him. Many people love Snape, and they have every right to. I love him as a character too, but it would be a lie to say that he was the best option for a namesake.
I don't think Ginny can be blamed, because we already knew how horrendous she was at naming things. Pigwidgeon and Arnold the Pygmy Puff are not exactly great names in my opinion. And Harry should have known this as well. Although, I don't imagine that conversation going well for him.
Romione, like any other who knew both Snape and Harry would wonder wtf happened.

HP Fanfic: Regretfully Uncaring Chapter 45: A Stone for the Second Brother
As I say in both A/N's, this was originally one chapter, but way too much happened, so it was split into two.
I got to make fun of the Hinny kiss in the HBP movie, so I'm satisfied.
Preview:
Daphne licked her lips and nodded. "I see my past and my present… in a sea of memories that I do not know yet…. I am certain that I've lived them,"
Theo's expression remained concerned. He didn't pity her, he was listening.
"I see places that cannot exist. I feel as though I am awake, yet I know in my heart that I am dreaming. I am conscious of it," finally she looked back up at him, tears brimming in her eyes. Her voice wavered as she asked, "Do you think I've gone mad?"
Tears slide down her cheeks, and Theo reached up and caressed her face between his hands. "I like to think we're all a bit mad, sometimes," he whispered soothingly. "In the dark and in the unknown, we can be nothing but insane. We are outsiders there,"
