I do love the cutesy stuff for Kate and Lucy but I really want not just angst but really emotional stuff that the actors can sink their teeth into. I feel like their reunion could be much more emotional. Like if my gf was stuck in a hostile country with people trying to literally kill her and she managed to come back safely I wouldn't just give her one small hug and crack a joke I'd suffocate her with my hug and never let go. And conversely if i survived attempts made at my life I'd be so relieved to see my gf again I'd collapse into her arms. You know what i mean? I love the actors/writers and their work but I just want something a tiny bit more raw. It was kind of anti climatic. Maybe this is not the show for that but I wish it was.
Okay okay I have a bunch of thoughts!! First of all, totally agree that it would be nice to dig into the characters’ emotions more. And I love how you put it that it’s not just about angst but about allowing there to be this depth and rawness of feeling. I think tori and yas are incredibly talented and already do so much to elevate the scripts they’re given and I think they’d absolutely rise to the occasion.
Second, I get what you mean that Kate’s return and Lucy’s reaction felt a bit anti-climactic. I will say I felt like it was reasonably in character for them because they were in a work setting. They’re both consummate professionals and I can’t imagine either of them being very demonstrative at work (okay, not withstanding Kate’s very public serenade—but that wasn’t on work property and it wasn’t related to a mission lol). For me, Lucy’s worry and emotion came through despite a relatively calm exterior (a testament to great acting).
I also just agree that this show is very polished and doesn’t really have time to get into the depths of character emotions…kind of a feature of the procedural as a genre I think.

reader is a oc/self-insert spider-person with a mutation, but there are no physical descriptors specified (yet) aside from the mutation.
"O’Hara?" The spindly leg over your shoulder tapped on the wall once.
“Miguel.” It tapped again.
“Miggy.” Again, twice at once. Your head tilted to one side, and you stepped forward with two of your legs dragging behind you. Behind the slick alien goo covering your face, you smiled to yourself.
“Mi corazón.”
“What did you just say?” The broad shoulders of the man before you turned, and you were met head-on with a deep, yet almost heartless, scowl.
“Jesus, that took you long enough.” You hummed, your own legs gave way beneath you so that your spidery ones could take over, pushing you closer to Miguel’s height. “Here I was thinking you’d gone deaf.”
“Don’t play. You’re already on thin ice.” He said, lips pursing as he turned back to his dozens of screens. He was trying to ignore you. Normally it didn’t bother you, but with Miguel O’Hara you liked nothing more than making yourself known.
“I would say you’re no fun. Killjoy. Party-pooper.” You said stepping closer and rising slowly so that soon you were leaning over his shoulder, talking softly into his ear. “But I knew that already.”
“Fuck off.” Miguel said, shoving his shoulder back, heartlessly pushing you away. Your arms crossed over your chest, pushing your elbows into his shoulder blades.
“Wow O’Hara, proving me right? Zero fun at all. Lyla, tell him he’s no fun.”
The pretty little AI buzzed to life over Miguel’s shoulder, legs crossed and checking out their nails.
“Oh he knows that.” Lyla said, zipping over to your shoulder as your upper legs moved to tickle the hairs on the back of Miguel’s neck. He shivered, rubbing his head over the tops of his shoulder before stepping to face you both side-on. “Although I didn’t think it’d take you this long to figure it out too.”
“Leave me, please.”
“You wanna coffee?” You said, turning on your heel as Lyla disappeared back into the algorithm.
“No.” he mumbled, turning back to his beloved screens to pout again.
“I’ll go get you a Capri Sun.” You hummed to yourself, watching his back as you walked away. “I know you miss those.”
“Do not.” he said.
“What flavour?” you asked, smiling to yourself as you turned to face the door.
“Mango Pineapple.” As usual.

oh dang I think you mean this one, I had to lovingly recreate it from memory cause those files were lost to ye olde hard drive death. There's not currently an option to do it on a zip hoodie tho.
