update to the Playing Undertale With Roommate Whose Only Social Media is Pinterest situation: we only just got to waterfall and so far it has been a fucking trip
they have No Idea the significance of Flowey yet. not even a hint. they thought the sans echo flower conversation was about echo flowers
during the papyrus date and especially when they got to his room they kept looking at me and saying "THIS is your man????" which they stopped asking after the date. they have read some of my fics. i do not think i am any less insane to them now
they gave papyrus a valley girl voice btw. mostly because i had to beg them not to give him a mickey mouse voice instead
they didn't fucking know what skeletor sounds like
bc i know The Efficient Ways to do Things and they don't they've been reminding me of a buncha details & lines of dialogue I don't actually have embedded in my memory. particularly "PAPYRUS IS HUNGRY, TOO! HUNGRY FOR JUSTICE!"
they got the "Can I speak to G..." phone call. i have never once gotten that in any of my playthroughs, probably because i don't usually go up to that area but still. ik its not REALLY rare but i have never actually seen it Organically before so it was crazy to ME
Dogsong is my morning alarm ok. so when it showed up in the game and they realized they recognized it on a subconscious level they looked physically pained
Undyne's first chase scene scared the shit out of them

The Bene Gesserit: All these years of careful planning wasted. The Duke's child was meant to be a girl and marry Feyd-Ruatha, uniting the Houses of Harkonnen and Atriedes.
Feyd: yeah but like where's the problem?
Bene Gesserit:
Feyd: I mean I'm not gay but I'll fuck him if that will keep you all quiet for five minutes.

Holy shit holy shit holy shit.
Wilbur ended stream and then this happened:
He said "sorry Tallulah, but you are in a cold world", he took off his sword "it takes only one click". But there is no click, no sound, only q!Quackity questioning whether or not to kill Tallulah, silently watching her sleep.
He goes to thr canvas, and draws Tilín, his dead child, and hangs the painted canvas in the wall. The. Looks around, reading the signs that Tallulah used to talk with Wilbur, and then he retracts from what he was about to do.
q!Quackity gives a last watch at q!Wilbur and Tallulah's little wood and dirt house, and he leaves.
And then he ends stream.

Something I never see people mention about ffxiii is just how different the entire experience becomes if you just appreciate the scenery in all the locations you run around in
The "hallway simulator" maps are actually pretty damn enjoyable when you spend the time taking in how absolutely stunning the game is, and the incredible ost on top of that makes it even better

god. chetney going after fearne, asking her if she's okay. asking why she's scared. chetney telling her she's strong, and she can always talk to him. chetney speaking gently, offering to help her go break things, making it a little game to try to make her smile. telling her, don't leave. please don't leave. fearne promising she wont. fearne giving him a kiss on the forehead.
chetney returning to where his other friends are, and he hasn't seen them since everything went down. chetney acting playful and silly and funny haha old man being silly and then looking at ashton and going Leave. fucking leave. you could have hurt fearne. Raising His Voice, being truly Angry for the first time in seventy episodes. You Could Have Hurt Fearne.

trying to imagine what a Welcome Home ending would look like (which is extremely stupid lmao considering we dont know shit about jack yet), and it's just... huh.
i doubt it's going to take the "the puppets are turned into humans and they join the real world" route (and if it does, then cool! that'd be sick as fuck!), so what would a happy ending look like for them? would they get a little sanctuary to live freely in? is there a secret world of living puppets out there somewhere?
what if its a tragic ending? the puppets either are repurposed for a new show, or stripped of their Awareness, or become inanimate objects - normal puppets? what if they just straight up fade away?
or a bittersweet ending? they renew the show in order to stay alive and together, but they're forced to return to their old lives & routines? or it's ambiguous and we don't actually see what happens after a certain point - where the ending for the audience comes before the puppet's real endgame; it's not for us to see/know, they get an unobserved close to the story.
its simultaneously fascinating and distressing to think about.
