the karai and leo ship/dynamic is...so weird to talk about. first of all majority of the fandom just shuts down the discussion with INCEST which...i get it? but at the same time i also see why it wouldnt cross people's minds? im ngl when i watched the show as a kid, incest really didnt cross my mind for a number of reasons. 1. how the mutagen works is kinda finicky and not really well explained. so does being mutated by a donor's dna make you related to that donor? like when snakeweed was mutated by the plants, is he related to the plants now? when bradford was mutated, is he related to his dog? like karai is splinter's daughter, and the turtles are related to splinter because they were mutated with splinter's dna ..is that how that works? supposing the turtles do have splinter's dna embedded in them now which allows for their mutation and human-like features, idk if that's what the show was going for, because splinter's dna can't explain everything. like how do the turtles have such different eye colors then? how does leo have dark blue eyes while raph has nickelodeon slime green eyes? where were the genes for those? shen and yoshi (in human form) both had brown eyes. they could be carrying a recessive gene ig but still. or did they always have that eye color in turtle form? but those are exceedingly rare colors, and when they were children the turtles just had black stare-into-your-soul-eyes?? actually is it even confirmed that they were mutated from splinter's dna? or from someone else like the pet shop workers? idk?? i just never really thought about it too deeply (and i suspect you're not really meant to), and the show never really pushed it. and the distinction of the turtles being biologically related to splinter or not just never really mattered to me, because either way, it's clear that splinter views them as his kids. splinter and the turtle's relationship is a great depiction of family, regardless of whether they share blood. and honestly, i don't think any of the writers would have pushed leo and karai if it was actually incest. stuff like this is why incest never really crossed my mind on a technical level.

and 2. do karai and leo actually see each other as siblings? when its revealed that she's splinter's daughter leo sees her as part of the clan, sure. idk about karai. but do they actually see each other as siblings, or is this something the fandom just made up? i just remember their dynamic being really vague honestly. leo was super devoted to helping karai and finding her, treating her as one of the clan and devoted to helping her return. then there was this one line by leo to donnie that was something along the lines of he should know what its like because of april, which COULD have romantic connotations, or it could just be referencing the supposedly super strong bond the show likes to pretend april and donnie have. you also have instances where karai and leo dont actually seem romantically interested in each other, at least not anymore. i think leo even jokes to karai about it at some point, and KARAI is the one to look awkward, which to me signals that leo's over any sort of attraction he may have had. regardless, its not really clear if they explicitly see each other as siblings or if they feel something romantic.

side note: to all people rewriting the series to have raph and donnie clown on leo for falling for his "sister," you guys know that THEY were the ones actively joking about and thus perpetuating a romance between those two? they were the ones being weird about it! i know people are just using raph and donnie as author inserts to laugh at leo but it just doesnt work here.

MIKEY calls her sis (even this could be chalked up to his general use of language), but idk if raph or donnie ever really warm up to karai, let alone see her as their sister. and when people call them all siblings it really just feels like the fandom is squeezing these characters together, locking them in a room, and telling them to play nice. like wouldnt their dynamic be a lot more complicated than that? on the turtles side, this girl whos been trying to kill them, who they thought was the daughter of their enemy, is now suddenly their sister? talk about jarring. i can see mikey accepting it pretty easily bc he's mikey, but raph and donnie? i feel like it would take them longer to warm up to her, let alone get to a "sibling" level. slapping the sibling label onto karai feels like youre disregarding a lot of complicated emotions that would need to be worked out first. and honestly, even if they do work things out im still not sure theyd get to the sibling level. and there's nothing wrong with that, imo. this is not even talking about karai herself, who would also probably have A LOT of complicated feelings about being the daughter of the man she was raised to hate and being a part of his clan. add the "sibling" part onto that? oh boy. i feel like it would make karai distant and reluctant to get involved if they seriously started considering her a sister.

honestly what seems more likely to me is that the writers wanted to have their cake and eat it too. karai says to leo, just because i like you doesnt mean ill go easy on you. does she clarify what kind of like? of course not! maybe there were writers with different agendas or whatever, but either way you're left with karai and leo's dynamic just being really ambiguous and not really clearly addressed.

even if they're not related by blood/DNA, whatever, i know this is still a touchy subject for people because they believe that saying they dont see each other as siblings invalidates situations like step siblings, adoption, etc. but this is where i personally draw the line between fiction and reality. i think for this instance, fiction cant be a 1:1 representation of reality. this is a unique situation in itself. (i also dont think that this ship/dynamic is worth getting that heated about, nor is it worth putting much energy into honestly. it was not very fleshed out imo. my point is if you're looking for found family rep i dont think you should be looking at karai's relationship with the hamato clan. it's not the best example imo 😅 and if you're looking for a good ship with leo...idk this aint it chief.)

yeah i dont ship them. not because its incest, but because i just dont think theyd make good partners for one another. karai...girls got issues she needs to work out. i dont think shes very reliable, and she seems like the type to actively run away from responsibility. im not really too into karai's character as a whole, but thats a topic for another day. this may sound cliche, but i just dont think karai is the influence that leo needs. yeah she'll influence him sure...in the wrong ways. and i think leo would very quickly turn into karai's manic pixie dream boy who devotes himself to fixing all of karais problems which...i dont think he needs. dudes got enough on his plate.

personally, ill choose to believe that on both ends, what they felt for each other was nothing more than passing curiosity. MAYBE fleeting attraction, and that's a hard maybe, or at least it very quickly went away, because i remember the scene where karai was up in leo's space, and leo did not look into it all 😭 anyway leo felt undermined by his brothers, was tired of being responsible, and out popped karai looking for a good time. karai is karai. they were both distractions for each other initially. and leo chooses to believe in the good of people, so he kept talking to her. and then they found out she was splinter's daughter, blah blah blah you know the rest

YESSSSS it was so good!!!! sorry for the late reply, i just wanted to write out something detailed for this but didn't have the time!

id been planning to go for a while and i'm so glad it worked out! it definitely lived up to my hype, it was amazing!! ill give some very un-expert and very rambly impressions i had, but PLS let me know if you have specific questions about any details or scenes or choices :D

also i apologize im not a True fan of these 2 actors and i dont remember their names so ill just call them by their characters DHSJD

first off heres the set and playbill!!

i was kinda surprised because all the promo pictures seemed to show them wearing modern suits so i thought it was gonna be a modern setting, but it was just colorful old timey clothes! (sorry im not very knowledgeable on costumes, my main impression was just "oooo fun clothes")

oh one costume note is that one of them was wearing a green suit with a blue waistcoat, and the other was wearing a blue suit with a green waistcoat!

another unique thing about the production is it was split into 3 acts, like the script does, but most productions just do 2 acts!

i really enjoyed watching this, both ros+guil were super funny and the audience was laughing the whole time, even near the end like when guildenstern's breaking down, which i honestly enjoyed-- even when it's horribly tragic, it's STILL kiiinda funny. also i liked guildenstern's accent

in my opinion the acting was great all around, i kinda enjoyed the hamlet scenes and how they were acted seriously, since i'm always conflicted on if r&gad should make the hamlet parts serious or not! also guildenstern and rosencrantz's serious and emotional bits hit me so harddd (as in both of their monologues about death i guess)

there was a lot more use of obvious lighting and sound design than i feel like is typical for r&gad? but i enjoyed it!! i'll talk a bit more about that laterrrr

they also had some singing from the tragedians, once in their first entrance, and once replacing the ship noises at the beginning of act 3, which was very fun

one big difference was after the final scene w horatio, they blackout and go back to the initial positions and do a single "heads!" which was GREAT, i don't think i've seen anything else make the time loop that explicit??

ok and now just some rambling about interpretations

so part of me before the play started was like "i've watched/read/listened to this play SO many times, i hope it's not just boring and same-y and i don't realize anything new."

AND THEN. near the end of the first scene where ros+guil come across the tragedians. i was like HOLY SHIT and realized an interpretation that i've never thought of before.

(this might be a Super obvious interpretation and i'm just slow but whatever.) it occured to me that the moment that the tragedians are about to put on a play for ros+guil and the scene suddenly shifts to hamlet, it could be interpreted that the rest of the play is just the tragedians putting on one of the classics for ros+guil, and them getting "caught up in the action".

of course this doesn't make sense with Everything in the play, but it's SO fascinating to me and it recontextualizes a lot of stuff, like making it so that ros+guil are just fucking around backstage and onstage trying to figure out their roles the whole time in this play that's suddenly started around them.

also there's a couple choices that i think support this interpretation, like tending to switch to a warm stage-y lighting whenever scenes from hamlet are going on, and switching back to a cool neutral whenever ros+guil are "offstage".

plus, i think this happened a couple times but notably when hamlet is doing his "to be or not to be" speech and rosencrantz is trying to figure out how to interrupt him, there's this super interesting lighting effect where they have a spotlight on the BACK of the stage where hamlet is, and these lights near the bottom of the stage that give the impression of stage lights, making it look like the stage is reversed and hamlet's on the side facing the audience while ros+guil are upstage. IDK if that makes sense but i was like HOLY SHIT when i realized.

PLUS, im fairly sure all the actors playing roles in hamlet are all also tragedians, AND between each act, they had the tragedians doing stuff like moving the set, sweeping, etc, on stage, which was very fun..

Y'ALL ALREADY KNOW hotness 10/10, 6/10 for the possible terrorist backstory that would be oh so fantastic character building, 8/10 for the fact i ALSO happen to be overly obsessed with my own schedule, 4/10 for the fact someone called his hair a deceased pikachu wig and I laughed, 7/10 for the fact his english VA is Griamore from sds and that was weird for a few scenes. OVERALL 9/10 solid gold good man deserves a white picket dream (the remaining 1/10 is for the fact they couldnt help themselves with his spiky hair sticking out, so now it is effectively a mullet instead of just long hair)

7/10 on looks in general i have no strong opinions about his ensemble except that he looks like a lil detective and the IRL Rampo wrote "Boy Detectives Club" and i think its adorable. 8/10 for the fact his brain is awesome and the cockiness. 7/10 for the rivalry with poe because i like it but i havent seen enough of it to be super into their thing yet overall 7/10 I dont have much to say hes just a good boy

5/10 for the design im sorry i hate that the skirt is that low she can have a long skirt but it looks way awk at the hips though that may just be because the skirt goes out instead of just downward like a maxi. the gold hair clip is good i like it. 9/10 for the way she snatched that mans hand and almost took it off, 7/10 for the scenes that make this anime look way sus to my parents (YOU KNOW WHICH ONES I MEAN!) overall 8/10 for everything except that damn skirt

Ok she was going to be the team baby but then i reevaluated and decided no shes just ATSUSHI'S BABY. 8/10 for how adorable her jellyfish cut is. 10/10 for sad backstory. 6/10 for the fact people ship her with atsushi and the show seems to lean that way as well (I was so happy when Lucy arrived for this reason). 7/10 overall for second team baby

Atsushi Nakajima

6/10 for the fact my phone always autocorrects him to At Sushi. 7/10 for that haircut. 10/10 for awful father figure. 9/10 for the headcannon about his parents engaging in cannibalism that sounded so in-line with the show i thought it was real and not a headcannon. I'm sorry 6/10 for the fact the va uses the same voice for atsushi that he uses for Harlequin in SDS and it trips me up. 8/10 for the fact his eyes cant decide what color to be. 7/10 for the fact it feels weird to see smut with him in it because he is also, effectively, team baby.

Gimme a minute to yak anyways designs are 7/10 pretty basic but do their job effectively and Naomi's appearance actually supports the headcannon shes not real and shes just a product of his ability which i like. The sibling... "relationship" gets 0/10 for EW but kunikida gets 10/10 for telling atsushi to ignore it but then still yelling at them after he gets 7/10 for his general personality, honestly if his devotion to his sister wasnt related to the weird incest stuff i would find it a really great plot device (being devoted to protecting and taking care of your only family left) overall naomi gets 6/10 for being okay and looking properly suited for her environment unless shes around Junchiro Junchiro gets 8/10 for having a sick matrix ability and looking basic but not boring

BUT if i had to choose i would probably say tabby. but second up is definitely black cat because my aunt has this black cat and hes the sweetest nicest cat ive ever met. i love him so much and its really sad my aunt lives far away because i wish i could see him more. Okay, so my favorite and now go to brand is e.l.f., because their stuff is very high quality while still being extremely affordable. ESPECIALLY their makeup cleasing balm, I need to get some more tbh, but it lasts a really long time, and it works super well and its very moisturizing, which is always a plus. I will say im not a huge fan of their eyeliners, but they're not actually bad. I have a pencil liner from them I love, but its not my go to. I almost exclusively use Kat Von D's tattoo liner, because it goes on so smoothly and it stays super well throughout the day.

I'm also super loyal to my brow pencil and powder, but honestly i have no idea what the brand is. Its the same kind of brow tool i got when I first started doing makeup, and when it runs out i juat go to target and I recognize it by the pakaging. Its just too good to change anything about it, yknow?

Now for eyeshadow..well I admittedly have an addiction. I dont know how many I own, but in my defense, I do use them all fairly regularly. My current favorites though are all from this small business I found through tiktok called Dazzle Me Dead Cosmetics, and these are the palettes I have (I strongly encourage zooming in on the Karen palette to read the shade names, they're 👌👌👌👌):

I do have another pallette I use regularly, but then I learned more about the creator and I very much dont support them, so I wont share that pallette and I dont buy anything from them anymore.

I also have a lipstick addiction, mostly reds, and glosses because I have a violent opposition to wearing nude lip colors. I'll have to share pictures of my lips stuff later 😅

One last brand recommendation (because lowkey I love good marketing): Beauty Bakerie.

All their products are themed to baked goods, like their flour setting powder, blending egg sponges, makeup brushes that resemble cooking tools, etc., and I've never been disappointed in anything I got from them. They're great and everything they make is absolutely adorable.

undersail - the concept of undertale as pirates is really funny. 7/10

underfell - i dont know why undertale but red/black color scheme and edgy  and everyones an asshole is so funny to me but its SO funny to me. 9/10

inktale - im like 90% sure this is a sans-only one but when i was like 11 i fucking LOVED ink sans i had an ink sans minecraft skin at one point he gets a 9/10 for nostalgia and also an epic design

dancetale - groovy moves also the art of this one was really pretty. i think this would make a fun game 9/10

errortale - another sans only one im like fairly sure most of errors design is just sans but colors inverted which is super funny. 7/10

hi gamers im pretty much finished with my playthrough of pokemon shining pearl, i have about 80 hours on there right now so heres my review!

i dont normally post game reviews but since many of you know me as that sinnoh loving guy i figured reviewing a game i wanted for such a long time, a remake of one of my fav generation's pokemon games would make sense, and its easier to post that kind of thing on tumblr so here it goes. also this whole review is spoiler-free.

summary - i really like this game and i recommend it to anyone who loves diamond and pearl or has interest in playing them for the first time! they fix a lot of issues with the originals however there are many missed opportunities thatll talk about under the cut. this game is a good return to form of the adventure that many of us older fans felt when we first played these games as kids. i do not want this to seem like a huge blow to these games but they are not without flaws either.

graphics:

I know the chibi art style was a huge miss by many fans when it was first shown off, but ive always found it cute and fitting of the game. in its final form, the graphics of bdsp are very charming and cute and the natural scenes and backgrounds are better than theyve ever been in a mainline title. this game really does feel like how we would have imagined it as kids! the top-down style works best for this type of game and its very polished. if you still arent sold on the style, i promise that if you just get into the game and start playing it for a bit itll convince you. also this game lacks screen tearing that the originals had (yay!) and the overworld is a lot nicer to look at color-wise.

music:

I have to say i was kind of worried about what they'd do with the music, because it is probably my favourite out of the whole series, but its actually breathtaking and many tracks are a million times better than they were before. they really emphasized the jazzy-ness of this game's music which i really appreciate haha. they even added some new tracks for the post-game area and also the DS sounds key item which is so so great.

bdsp greatly expands on the underground feature by letting you catch pokemon down there! this is a feature i never knew we needed but now that we have it oh man i could never go back. its so fun hunting for pokemon down there and digging for statues. i do kinda wish there was more multiplayer stuff you could do down there, cos rn all you can do really is dig together, but honestly thats fine by me since i didnt even get to do That in the originals.

this game also changes how contests work compared to the original dppt. i do kind of miss being able to dress up your pokemon but i do have to wonder how that would even work in a 3d game. anyway i do like the new "rhythm game" approach to pokemon super contests. they are a lot faster to do than they were before so you can do more of them in less time. sometimes the old one felt like rng cos you had to perform moves to a judge and just kinda hope no one else picked the same judge as you. i havent done a whole lot of the new contests just yet but as of now it seems like a welcome change.

bdsp also introduce walking pokemon in the overworld in almost every area, when before you could only walk with a select few in amity square. i think walking pokemon is always a welcome addition but its a bit strange to me how it was done in bdsp. its a huge upgrade from sword and shield (dlc) though i have to say. it really kinda sucks in those games because your pokemon will run to catch up with you and constantly bump into you. they dont do that as often in bdsp but there are times where if you have a slower pokemon they will just never walk with you and are always teleporting about. i think hgss really mastered the walking pokemon because they were always at the same rhythm as you were, and it just seems very half-baked into every other game they've tried to add it into since. (except let's go....it's actually pretty good in let's go.)

also, its worth mentioning that the sinnoh games are no longer extremely slow. youve all seen the meme with blissey and close combat right? yeah that doesnt happen anymore, neither does saving a lot of data (rip), and you surf faster than a snail now.

but the biggest and best feature that bdsp added was the hidden moves app in the poketch. basically, you no longer need to teach a pokemon an hm move (a field move that cannot be forgotten under normal circumstances) you can just open your watch with the R button and use a hidden move from there. its extremely handy and id recommend these games over the originals just for this feature alone. dppt have the most hms required at once time out of the entire series and not having to worry about them anymore is a HUGE plus. you can also access your pc boxes out in the overworld too instead of having to go to a pokemon center, which is awesome.

missed opportunities:

ok, now as we get into some more negative parts I have to say, yes I am aware that this game was never supposed to be a platinum remake. its a faithful remake of diamond and pearl, it is exactly what it says on the tin. (i have to say this phrasing has bugged me since the start, though, it feels like an oxymoron. of course a remake is going to be faithful?) and you know, they did add some platinum dex mons into the game via the underground feature i mentioned earlier. but my issue is, why did they only add some of them and not all? why pick and choose which pokemon we can access when the entirety of the platinum dex IS IN the game? we already know about the rotom in the old chateau and the gift eevee from bebe so why not let us access those? they seem to be walled off for absolutely no reason. and there are still so many of gen 4's added evolutions that you just cannot access within the main story, such as gliscor that you have to wait til postgame for. there is no point to these restrictions so why have them? it was literally not like that in platinum, so why go back to it? and i also like some of the changes to the gym order and designs inside the gyms they did in platinum. but plat is my fav pokemon game of all time so of course i am biased in that regard.

i also have to say that not using platinum teams for trainers like flint and volkner was a missed opportunity too. i like that gym leaders added new moves and abilities onto their team members to keep the battles fresh, but why did we have to go back to these stinky teams when we did it right in platinum? it just seems like two steps forward, one step back to me.

and this is a pet peeve to me but....where is looker???? he hasn't been in gen 8 at all???? he was introduced in gen 4 so....why not bring him back now? and where is the battle frontier gamefreak i want answers.

as for the story, ORAS is one of my fav pokemon games and i love how they freshened up the hoenn region in that remake, and i would have loved for something similar in BDSP. they ended up not doing that and we still have a good game on our hands here with bdsp, but i do think it could have been even better. i think remakes should set out with the goal to transcend the originals and create a definitive version of that generation's game. i think bdsp fell a little bit flat in that regard. we still have legends arceus coming out in about a month though. I do think that this is going to be the game that transcends and im really excited for it! but i think bdsp could have been more too.

also, why did they go back to single use tms? who is responsible for this??? i need a word.

another peeve of mine is that they did not add any pokemon past gen 4. as a kid i desperately wanted to bring my gen 5 favs into sinnoh, so that was a huge blow. again, they should have done it like oras. i dont think anyone would have minded if most of the later-gen mons were post-game anyway. and im not going to mention megas much but i like them and they would have fit so well here ok bye

glitches and crunch:

if youve been following these games since launch you know that they come with their fair share of glitches. of course, most pokemon games do. they are known for it, really. and most of them, even in bdsp, dont really come into play during your actual playthough, you have to actually go out and initiate them, and many of them are being patched right now. however, this game was also released unfinished, with a day 1 patch being required to download in order to get all of the cutscenes, music, and more. now personally i dont agree with that practice...i grew up in the sticks with the worlds slowest wifi, and i was also the type of kid who wanted to play their new games on the ride home. if your game needs an internet connection to download half of your game, that's just annoying. i know that's just the way nowadays...other consoles do it all the time, when you buy a ps4 game on the disc you have to wait for it to download too. in the age of internet its easier to patch games. back when the gba games had a glitch in them (look up ruby and sapphire berry glitch) you had to send your game back or go to a special kiosk to fix it. now you can just leave your switch on at night to download the updates. so while i definitely disagree with this decision, i can see why they did it. i really hope that doesnt become a mainstay for pokemon games going forward. its a real hassle, and encourages the harsh deadlines that nintendo and gamefreak have in place to continue.

challenge level/difficulty:

this game has a....weird level curve in it. it uses the gen 7.5/gen 8 experience share, which means that every pokemon in your party gets experience after you defeat or catch a pokemon. you are not able to turn this off, but you can put pokemon into your pc boxes to stop this effect. anyway, the original games did not have this, and were not designed around it. Around the 3rd gym or so i really felt the effect of it. my team was really getting up there in levels, and it doesnt help that the 3rd and 4th gyms are the same levels, either. so yeah it was getting clear that i was overleveled and the gym leaders and boss fights started to get kinda easy. ok, you might say, of course they were, its a kids game and a game and one that ive played before. not everyone is going to have that experience. however, the pokemon in the underground scale to your badge level, meaning they are typically around your level or higher when you go down there after a gym battle. meaning. you are going to get your ass handed to you down there. but then...not by any of the trainers in the story? probably not until the elite four, who each have ev-trained pokemon (this means they have really beefed up stats that compliment what moves theyre gonna use) with competitive battling move-sets and items. and then the champion, who has a completely cracked competitive team with items on all 6 pokemon. now many of us were thinking that they would dumb down the champion battle, but they beefed it up so so much. as an adult player of the series i really do like this level of challenge. even if youre just doing a vanilla playthrough its bound to be a little difficult. i mean it took me 3 tries! and then if youre a kid playing this game....well its never been easier to grind in a pokemon game than in gen 8. so...i dont know what to say about this i just think the difficulty in this game is kind of lopsided at times.

should you play?

as a new player: yes! these games are more accessible than the og diamond and pearl, which go up WAY past the $60 msrp if you want a legit copy. and with the additions in quality of life i think they are definitely worth it. also, they have online play which the old ones dont anymore. you can emulate, sure, i won't stop you, but if you do emulate either dppt or bdsp you wont have the multiplayer aspect either way. multiplayer adds a lot of mileage to a pokemon game.

as a veteran player: yes! these games miss a lot of content from platinum and are basically the same story, i won't deny that. but they are full of nostalgia for if you love gen 4 and have felt like newer games have been missing the mark. and if you didnt like gen 4, a lot of its issues are solved here like the hm one. this is a good opportunity to give it another chance.

if i could draw, here are some terrible design choices i would make when drawing dsmp characters ft. bench trio

i thought this would be funny. i’m way too fucking literal, to the point where i dont like hybrid character designs as much because *the skin isn’t like that*! and other times im like of COURSE this character has the headcanoned design? who are you if you dont draw them like that? so here’s some overly literal choices i’d make

Ranboo

-People like to draw him with hair. His skin doesn’t HAVE hair. It’s a completely bald scalp with a crown clinging hard onto his bare skin

-He would get horns, because I like that design. Small ones tho. and you don’t see them because he uses them to keep his crown on his fucking head

-his eyes would be the right colors, but i’d make them, like, really small. not like tiny but i just think he should have stupidly small eyes that are wildly prominant because of the color

-I’d give him the tear tracks, but they wouldn’t be like really, really prominent. They would be, like, little line-shaped dents under his eyes, and they wouldn’t go far. I mean, if he cries so often, he would know to try to cry in a way that it doesn’t get on his face, right? So it wouldn’t be the biggest ever deal

-i’d give him a completely normal mouth probably

-He’s still tall as fuck. so tall

-he’s just wearing a suit

-he doesn’t wear shoes, but he doesn’t wank around with normal human feet. mans has fucking hooves

-purple particles, ofc

-i wouldn’t give him a tail because his skin doesn’t have a tail, dumbass

Tubbo

-Hair is normal length. The idea of having to have your eyes constantly covered in hair makes my skin itch and he needs to be able to see to be able to properly raise a son and build nukes, anyways. It can be a bit shaggy but by no means can it fucking cover his eyes

-It’s got to fucking be brown. I can’t fathom a world in which people draw him with blond hair

-brown eyes. they are huge. a great contrast to ranboo. this man has GINORMOUS fucking eyes. he looks like a damn cartoon

-he does have horns! they’re short tho

-his teeth are terrible. unlike tommy, he never got any canonical dental health and a lot of his teeth chipped when... he died of an explosion to the face. he can still convince you he’s an *uwu bee boi* when smiling, tho, despite his abysmal-looking teeth

-speaking of the explosion, he does have the explosion scars. but they’d be on his hands, because of course he instinctively put his hands in front of his face. burned hands. 

-this is something... i would struggle with. i honestly would much rather him just wearing his typical green shirt all the time because... that’s how he looks in my mind’s eye, but ofc he currently needs to be wearing his snowchester thing... i’d make the snowchester thing more green and call it a day

-he wears office job shoes. dad shoes. you know the ones

-grr. yeah he has like.. a sheep-looking tail

Tommy

- His hair would be the same shade as the cc’s, and the same length. Constantly. Exile arc? No scissors? His hair is stagnant. Sorry. his hair doenst change on his skin

-that being said i love him and his dumb flower boy thing he has going on so he will have flowers in his hair all the time

-His eyebrows would be thick as fuck and pitch-black. It’s so funny that his skin’s brows are like that. For sure he gets caterpiller eyebrows. they are super prominant

-his eyes are blue, duh, but like, tubbo, they’re fucking huge. he has canonical puppy dog eyes, right? so they have the little sparkles and get fucking giant. but only when he wants. the rest of the time he has the most normal eyes ever

-i don’t WANT to draw him with scars. fuck off. i love him and he doesn’t deserve to be hurt, ever. maybe a small scar on the side of his chin for aesthetic. ...also maybe a small scar right in between his eyes from his duel with dream

-my guy, he MUST have the fucking bandana around his neck. it’s fucking importnat

-His shirt would be exactly as it is. I see people giving him different clothes with a similar color scheme, I scoff. His shirt is that way. it’s his fucking BRAND

-His pants wouldn’t be brown. No way anybody would willingly draw him with pants the color of shit. He’d have completely typical jeans. cuffed because i said so

-red high-top shoes. he colored that circle thing to look like a disc because he’s a bitch and i fucking hate him

I made a ship fanfic for florence’s oc and mine. Have it.

“Hey, Lulu! Wake up!”

Lumine slowly opened her eyes, to see Bottle grinning ear to ear at her.

“What is it BB?” She said, leaning up from her bed to stare at her lover.

“As you know, its been raining for quite a long bit, and i was bored in the middle of the night. I was then reminded of this tv show where the main characters tried golfing when it was raining, and basically-“ He sat down onto Lumine’s bed as she saw that Bottle made an entire mini golf course inside of their house.

“-I couldnt sleep and was bored so i made this, simply put.” Bottle said, extending his arm to express the vast quantity of mini golf he made.

Lumine was still trying to wake up, but was impressed at what bottle had made. “I love it, honey!” She said, proceeding it with a stifled yawn.

“Thanks! I also made you some breakfast because i still had some free time after i finished the golf course.” He said, hugging Lumine with one hand and grabbing a plate of hash browns and bacon with another. “Now eat up, because i honestly want to try and play some mini golf because im exited to see how someone else would think of this!”

“It looks great from what i can see! Lumine said, as she quickly kissed bottle.

Lumine, still slightly tired, took a bit of time to eat her food, but scarfed it down once she woke up a bit more. It was honestly a tad bit burnt, but she didnt mind. Bottle made this stuff for her out of love and she didnt care if it wasnt perfect. Love already made it perfect.

When she was done eating, she gently placed her food on her bed and got up. As she was about to leave their room, though, Bottle suddenly opened the door, seeming even more giddy and exited than before.

“Lulu, guess what?”

With a quick chuckle, lumine answered with an over enthusiastic “What, honey?”

“We didnt have golf stuff so i bought us some, and i also got us-“ Bottle, out of flair, did a spinning backflip, and landed in a completely new outfit. He was now wearing a plaid sweater, white and green, with a white beret instead of his normal stereotypical pirate hat. Also in Bottle’s hands laid a set of clothes as well, in very much magenta colors.

“-Golf clothes!” He said, with as much flair as he possibly could.

Lumine couldn’t help but giggle at what was going on. The rain had been going on for days now, and it wasnt giving her the best of sleep, so waking up to a gift of fun, some amazing food, and what looks to be an amazing new set of clothes was the uplift that she needed.

“Aw, that you so much BB!” She picked up the clothes from bottle, and stuck them under her armpit. “Ill go change into these right away, hehe!” She said with another giggle.

She closed the door and changed as quickly as she could. When Lumine walked out, she was wearing a magenta and pink sweater, with a lopsided cyan beret and some dark magenta jeans (that were a bit too tight for her liking.)

“Im ready to play some golf, honey!” She said, with a little hop.

Bottle was sitting in a nearby chair as lumine walked out, and him seeing her also in a full golf outfit made him practically jump with joy. He quickly skipped over, and actually picked up lumine to hug her. He slowly started spinning in place as he spoke. “How does it fit, honey?”

“The pants are a little tight but other than that it feels perfect! I love it! The sweater is super soft and the beret is adorable!” She said, nuzzling her nose against his.

“Wonderful!” Bottle gently put lumine down and then turned to look at almost a dozen minigolf courses around their house, and with a voice full of pride and excitement, said to lumine, “Now, lets play some golf, honey!”

Bottle quickly ran over to one of the smaller courses, labeled with a small red flag with the number ‘1’ on it. He pulled out a golf club with a lime green handle and a shorter club with a magenta handle, and handed the latter to lumine. He then set a golf ball down in a little groove on the track, signifying where the ball should lay on first putt.

“Honey, you get first shot, but dont swing the club, just gently hit the ball, ok?” He brought lumine over, perpendicular to the ball, and got behind her to help her prepare her shot.

Lumine gives a nice, effective swing, and brings the ball fairly close to the hole (which was just a very shortly cut plastic cup, mind you) for her first putt. Bottle then brings out his own ball, and swings it, hitting lumine’s and knocking both of them into the hole at the same time.

“We both got a hole in one, honey! Nice shot!” Lumine said to Bottle, hugging him tight.

“Yeah! You honestly did great yourself, too!” He said, patting lumine gently on the head. “Now, lets move to the next one!” He said, running over to the next course.

None of the mini golf courses were particularly hard, but they were an absolute joy to observe. Each one had its own interesting and unique style, and just knowing it was all made by bottle, and it was all just for the two of them, was an amazing experience that lumine would absolutely never forget.

Hole after hole they progressed, and by the time they were halfway through it, lumine had actually gained an impressive lead, but Bottle was not angry in any way, which surprised Lumine. Bottle could be a bit of a hothead at times, and considering how mini golf normally went for her and her family, she was surprised he hadnt completely freaked out. Even though he was still losing hard, he was complimenting Lumine’s work, still trying his hardest, and was as cool as a cucumber. She then decided that it could be fun to lightly tease bottle.

As he was preparing his next swing, lumine kissed him on the cheek and gently said, “I love you so much BB.” This legitimately startled bottle, and he swung completely away from his target, with the ball slamming into the nearby wall. The two stared at the ball for a moment, but then bursted out laughing. “Yeah, yeah. I love you too, but please dont say it when i was about to putt.” He said, turning to Lumine and kissing her.

“No~ hehe.” Lumine said as they stoped kissing, booping his nose with her own.

“Well, that might cause some problems if i dont... *punish it.*” Bottle said, turning to Lumine with a slightly silly expression. He then quickly and suddenly picked her up and started tickling the crap out of her, dousing her in kisses for good measure.

“Is this enough punishment for you to rethink what you did?” Bottle said, still tickling lumine.

“Mh... mhm-“ Lumine barely mustered saying before laughing as hard as she could.

“Good enough for me.” Bottle said, putting her down.

As the game progressed, every hole one of them would then always try to mess with their partner, sometimes with a kiss, sometimes with a little spook, but the other would always get “punished” in the end with kisses and tickles.

Soon enough though, they reached the last hole. It wasnt flashy or very decorative at all, compared to the others. All it was was a small golf strip, leading up to a golf hole with a small machine behind it.

“You go first, honey.” Bottle said, nudging her to the spot.

Lumine walked up to the hole and placed down her ball.

“Are you sure this is the last hole, honey? All of the others were incredibly high quality and super adorable, but this doesnt seem all that interesting.”

“Trust me, you’ll love it.” Bottle said, reassuringly.

Lumine hit the ball and it swept in instantaneously. As lumine went to pick it up, however, the small machine started whirring to life. It slowly started speaking, and it was obvious that it was just recording Bottle’s voice.

“Well, that was a game of golf, wasnt it? I bet i loved it almost as much as i love you.” The machine spoke. “... on the topic of love. This is actually, as can be considered, the anniversary of our first ‘date,’ back when we fell from that giant tree and landed in a cloud of cotton candy. Ive been honestly preparing to make something for this day for ages now, and im glad that you played enough mini golf to get to the prize. Now, if you could, turn around.”

Lumine slowly turned, and was surprised to see Bottle on one knee, holding out a platinum ring.

Bottle spoke with a quiver in his voice, almost as if he was afraid that he would ruin the moment. “Well, i bet this is surprising.” Lumine stared bottle directly in his eyes, and almost started crying at the sight.

“Honey, i... i thought about it for a long time. I wanted to bring it up, but was secretly planning to save it for this moment. My feelings for you have gone far deeper than you know, and in expressing them now, and i honestly think, your ring finger could be the perfect thing to fill this hole-in-one.” Bottle said, gesturing to the ring.

Lumine slowly picked up the ring, almost as if it was fake. But it wasnt fake, and the thought crashed down onto her in an instant. She gripped the ring as hard as she could as she ran over to hug bottle as tightly as possible.

“Yes.” She said, practically crying as feelings of love washed over her like tsunamis.

Bottle didnt say a word, but slowly picked up lumine, walked her over to her bed, and set her down. Lumine didnt want to let go of him, though, so bottle climbed into bed with her, as she hugged him tight. They both went to bed, with the house being covered in golf things, with their clothes still on, and their bodies wrapped together tighter than a vice.

“Thank you.” Lumine was able to mumble, saying as she slowly reached up to kiss bottle.

“You’re welcome.”

I will have y'all know that I cried when I read this at 2am.

thats,,, so many fancy pens,,, i have some fine 'marker' things someone got me and for lettering i use either those or occasionally papermate inkjoy pens (but they have to stay and dry for like a day before i can erase the pencil underneath which i hate) and i have some mildliners i also use for school theyre so nice!! occasionally i use these metalic markers from like target or smth i dont even dream of buying tombows or smth (i spend too much at the used bookstore). i do have two pretty nice fountain pens!! theres a medium and a fine but i write t i n y so even the fine is a little too thick at times i mostly use these cat pens my gf gave me a few of theyre like plastic i dont think theyre fancy at all but theyre so fine and smooth to write with?? hhh lovely and theyre nice colors and they have cute little cat faces!! i also have some stadetler (? idk how to spell that) triplus fineliners but theyre kinda dried out and the tips are a bit flattened (and i lost my favorite bright green one a few years ago :( it was the best one) anyway i love pens also and this was not meant to be so long ((ps: i have this like $8 bujo its yellow the brand is like taotree or smth and its so nice i use it for a planner so if youre looking for a cheap one its rly nice to use you can barely see my markers through it)

hhmggm,,,,yeah,,,i,,,have so many pens hhsdkfsdkfdfgdfgn its terrible (i... may or may not have gotten even more today...) but honestly? none of them were super posh or expensive? the tombow dual tips were probably the biggest investment i’ve made (except for like. paper hsdfn) they’re like $30 off the shelf which is yeah a bit pricey but i got mine on black friday sale + w/ another 40% off coupon so they only came to abt $10 i think? michaels/ac moores usually has rlly good sales so i. would recommend taking advantage of them bc honestly they are the best markers i’ve used they are well worth it; the colors are excellent, the brush tips don’t wear out, they are a delight (but yea deffos try and get em while theres a sale goin on or 50% off coupon or smth). also the tombow fudenosuke brush pens are genuinely the best thing i’ve bought they are dirt cheap considering calligraphy pen prices ($5 or so for a set of two hardnesses) and they are. Really good probably some of the best affordable brush pens u can get they somehow manage to be fancy and cool but still inexpensive enough that i can get several sets to lose lol. they make brush lettering SO easy honestly. yeah hsdfsdfgdfgn. the microns,,,,,yeah they are,,,,fancy,,,and,,,terribly expensive,,, i have awful indulgent tastes and i have to have rlly fine tip pens for writing tho and micron makes the only consistently good quality fine tip pens that don’t break and go thick (literally i use an 005 tip hsdfsdfn) that i have found :-/ . also like, they don’t fade when u erase over them which is. a godsend tbh.

ooh midliners!!! i confess... i do not have a Single midliner... 😔 they always look rlly nice but they are never on my priority list smh but. sometime i will!!! they look rlly good for school stuff tho? like highlighting? the colors look SUPER nice i love the idea of highlighters in less... abrasive neon colors gsdnfsdgfng

oohh metallic is good!!! honestly i. genuinely. do. not have any metallic ones either im!! literally i keep meaning to get a good gold/silver one but i never get to it!! i had rlly nice silver + gold + white paint pens a bit ago but uh. one by one they decided to disembowel themselves, sometimes on my notebook in the middle of class -_- so. that. is my sad story w metallic ones gskdfdfng. (also i find it hard to find ones i rlly like? the gold always seems too dark, yk?) YESSS fountain pen SUPREMACY you are a gentlethem of GREAT taste and discernment (ough yea ikr tho they are just. almost thin enough but never quite.) omg i know those cat pens i think!!!! i was finna get some the other day!!! they are SO cute ahhh!!!! i think i had a totoro one (or similar one) a while back and yeah i know exactly what ur saying there is just. something abt the way they write that is. so good ;-; ooh what do u think of the staedtlers?? i’ve been eyeing em for a while but idk how fine they are/if i’d use the bright colors enough to make it worth it :/ but yeah!!! pens are!!!! really good!!!! hshdfsdnfne!!! (ahh tyy!!!! i’ve been looking for a new bujo and i hate doing it online b/c u can never tell whether the paper will bleed or not :( tyy!!!!!!)(hhhh this is already Very long but!! if u are looking for Good Paper!! i rlly rlly recommend rhodia brand paper? its kinda pricey, $9-12 (american) for a pad of 80 sheets or so but honestly it’s. SO good it’s rlly smooth and like, thin, but nothing ever bleeds thru , even fountain pen. it also holds colors WAY better than normal paper it makes the colors like 10 times more vibrant and it’ll never blur ur ink and make it smudgy it’s definitely definitely worth it i can’t say enough good things abt it. literally it will make ur lettering exponentially better)(also if u get the dot grid ones, the dots r like, light grey instead of Black and they’re v subtle v good) so!!! yeah!!!! that was long but!!! pens!!! :DD

Mulan 2020 review

This is the first Disney remake i've cared enough about to review it, and i can only describe it in one word: dissapointing.

Spoilers ahead.

Now lets start with the things is did like!

I think the movie looks very beautiful, it's a nice color palette and the locations are all stuning, the set desing and photography is really good, i think this is the only aspect in which this movie manages to outshine the animation. It's never boring or ugly to look at, and im a sucker for a nice aesthetic.

I also liked Mulan, her internal conflict was nice, it showed she was a true warrior at heart, yes she was brave, and loyal, but she knew she wasn't true because she was being dishonest, the fact that it made her uneasy to know she was lying showed she had a good understanding of what it meant to be a warrior. I liked that.

I liked the ending and the reference at the begining to the original ballad with Mulan and the rabbits, i liked the action scenes, they were nice and i really, really liked the mid portion of the movie, it was the time i was the most entertained, the training part is the best part, the begining and the end were kind of meh for me.

As for the supporting cast, Shang was okay (i know his name is not Shang, i just dont remember how to write it) he didn't bother me, i like the ending they gave them, im annoyed by the fact thay they tried to made it seem like he knew she wasn't a man since the begining, we all know Shang was bisexual, Disney.

The witch and Mulan are sapphics and no one can change my mind, i liked her motivations, she just wanted to live in a society that would accept her for who she was, but the way she died was stupid, if she was going to die it had to be more epic than that, an arrow through the back while trying to save Mulan was lame (and also the death of a love interest, you can't fool me)

Now, with the rest of the soldiers we enter territory of what i didn't like.

When i first watched the trailers i was super excited. I love the animated version, but i was all on board with a live action Mulan that was all about war, battles, epicness and cool action scenes. I didn't want this to be a copy or try to emulate the original. My favorite part of maleficent is that is a new take on the original movie, it is not a afraid to go away from the source material, now i know Mulan is widely more loved than Aurora so they were probably scared of making it too different (also is disney kids movie) but if you took Mushu, grandma and the songs away, then go all the way.

I wanted an epic Mulan movie, i think the fact that it was princess movie held it back. Yao, Cricket and Ling only reminded me of the fact that this wasnt charming like the animated movie. If they wanted to keep them they needed to give them more screen time. Those characters are developed in the songs on the original, we don't have that in this version and honestly i don't think the cast had great chemestry together.

Mulan and Shang sure, but Mulan and the rest of the soldiers felt distant from each other which didn't help to sell me on them. I didn't find them annoying or unnecesary, just underwelming because everytime she said Yao my mind went to animated Yao (and how little we had seen about movie Yao to justify the playful i'll kill you myself banter).

The other thing i didnt like was the Chi thing. Like i know it is a thing in chinese martial arts, but part of the appeal of the original is that Mulan learns to be a great warrior like the other soldiers, there is nothing inherently special about her, she is just a girl in the army trying to bring honor to her family. When i saw kid Mulan do the back flip off the roof on the first scene i rolled my eyes so hard i could see my brain.

If they wanted to show Mulan wanst content with her role in society, little Mulan chasing the chicken was enough, the crazy ninja skills just took away from the experience in my opinion. The message of the original ballad is that you can't distinguish a rabbit from a female rabbit (i dont know the word in english for it, lol in spanish is a liebre from a conejo) when they are runing side by side, the message is you too little girl at home can be a fierce warrior, by giving Mulan an innate magic chi power they mess all that up. It was the WORST part of the movie, honestly without it i would like it more, even without the movie being an epic battle against invadors.

Keep the Chi, i dont care, its part of chinese traditions, but dont make it fucking magical, it didn't need to be.

Finally the ending. Mulan's magic kicks were cool to see in action scenes, but they were an awful way of killing off the villain, it was so anticlimatic i was legit waiting for the dude to actually catch the arrow and keep on fighting Mulan. I guess because it is a kids movie they couldnt have Mulan put a sword through his chest, but still, a cooler death would've been fine. I guess they wanted to trick us into thinking it was good by not having him die by falling into the fire thingy, but no Disney, death by arrow kick is just as lame.

Im ngl i missed the part where the emperor says to Shang to go after the girl but it wasnt something that made me like the movie less, i just wish they had made it different enough so i wouldnt have to miss those things. Like i said im okay with her and Shang not being really endgame, if they had Shang meet her at the village then i would've wished grandma was there so that was a smart move on their part.

Overall i think kids will enjoy this movie, but the rest of us who grew up with Mulan will just be dissapointed, this movie had great potential, i think the people who made it actually liked the character and cared about making a good movie, the fact that they had to combine action with a princess movie i think did not work in their favor.

I don't want to be too harsh on the movie, because i think they managed to give Mulan as a character something new, and im also a huge Disney simp, but if im honest, its probably a 6/10.
