Minor Spoilers For IOE…

I just read Serena’s (hook’s) ending for IOE……I’m kinda disappointed?

I only unlocked one of the paid scenes (I’m going to go back later and get the other one) but even then it was a little short. And there really wasn’t that much of a story either. And besides a few interactions interactions we didn’t even really get to see Billie. I mean we did….but not enough!!

I honestly don’t even know why they put in that scene with Serena and Billie in the last chapter if they weren’t going to follow up with anything. It’s like they included one scene purely because they saw how much we loved Billie. And it feels like more queerbaiting or baiting in general. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not like you can’t include scenes in your book were you have a romantic/sexual interaction with multiple characters at one time, and then just leave it at that. But with how they set it up? It was saying that Billie cared for us too. And it made out that it was romantically. So now I’m really disappointed. I legit only really read the ending to see Billie. Nothing against Serena, I love her but, I really wanted more of Billie. I really thought by giving us that scene, they were gonna let us romance her as well.

Now I guess she could’ve been in the last paid scene (the one I didn’t unlock), but I doubt it.

So overall, the story was good. But often at times was anticlimactic and slow, yet rushed? I like the characters, though I didn’t get any of Rouge’s paid scenes so, I don’t know too much about this character. And like I said, I’m disappointed by the ending. I’m glad we didn’t have to pay for both this time. But it was boring, ngl.

I would like to see more of the characters later down the line. And I would like a tale with Billie! I mean, if that Liam dude & Sawyer can get one when they weren’t even the main characters, what’s stopping us from getting one with Billie? *cough* she’s a woman *cough*

Important Auradon Prep dining hall facts from the Villain Kid’s book for new VKs 

The school has an ice cream sundae bar the last Friday of every month.  

Mal is a mint chip ice cream lover (this is very important to me personally, mint chip ice cream is delicious and doesn’t deserve any of the hate it gets, much like Mal herself…)

The school does Sunday brunch. As someone who went to a relatively fancy college that also did weekend brunch meals, this is somewhat confusing and distressing the first weekend when you go down at your expected breakfast hour and find NO food out yet. 

Bunch doesn’t start until noon….the VKs definitely learned this the hard way. 

Evie likes eggs Florentine- as well as everything else on the brunch list, which is delicious carbs. #leteviehavebread2k23 

Auradon Prep has pasta mondays…..every week? Once a month? No clear timeline on this one, but after working in a bunch of  different real-life dining hall kitchens, I know that it’s nice to have a set meal rotation, so pasta every Monday probably makes sense for a high school. 

Another important note here is that pasta night is ~fancy~ and they put out white tablecloths and dim the lights. Weird choice for a high school dining hall, but I guess when your student body is unimaginably rich and also likely confined to campus during the school term, you’ve got to make your own date opportunities. 

Side note: is there an Auradon Prep hierarchy of “good” date nights? Is being asked out to Monday pasta night like a basic, everyday-tier date? The enchanted lake is clearly where students go to have a romantic picnic and then hook up, but what other common school dates are there? Is brunch appropriately romantic? Does the dining hall let anyone request a picnic, or is that reserved for actual royalty? Many questions here. 

The funniest thing so far in the dining hall section of this book is the sample menu they have- WHO is feeding high school students escargot? Mussels? I guess they’re coastal enough to have fresh mussels on a somewhat regular basis because we do see them on a boat in D2…and like, they’re in relatively close proximity to the isle, which is In The Ocean, so I guess that part makes sense. But printed menus every night?? 

In my heart the printed menus are a sort of once-a-week special occasion thing. Maybe once a week they have fancy dinners where they’re all expected to eat nicely with the teachers, or with whatever visiting royal family is there to see their kids, or just to practice proper formal dinner etiquette. 

The Auradon Prep dining hall serves grill cheese with tomato slices in the middle. Jay is apparently a big fan of this. I’m only sad about this one because I have a scene 90% written where the dining hall is serving grilled cheese and tomato soup, and now for ~canon accuracy~ I’m going to have to edit that.

"Did you date back on the Isle?" Ben asked as he and Y/N sat on the shores of the enchanted lake. They had just gone swimming, even though Y/N couldn't swim to save his life; Ben was still willing to teach him.

The young king looks at him, green eyes shining beautifully in the sunlight. His wet and muscled body shimmered in golden accents as Y/N looked at his blue shorts with little crowns on them.

This was nice. Y/N wasn't used to such kinder things as opposed to all the things he experienced on the Isle. They didn't do this back home. They didn't sit on the edge of a crystal clear blue lake and eat yum peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with chocolate chip cookies.

Y/N sighed. "We didn't. No one does on the Isle. Unless you count stealing dead flowers from the market a grand gesture of affection. And Harry Hook wasn't much of a boyfriend either. We'd kiss and grope each other, but it wasn't real love. At least nothing like Auradon love."

Ben knits his eyebrows together in a frown. "I'm sorry for that, Y/N. You guys didn't deserve that."

"It's okay. It wasn't your fault."

"But it's not okay. Here we eat plenty of food to eat and have clothes to wear, meanwhile you guys have been suffering for years." Ben's voice was full of emotion and for a moment, Y/N thought he might cry.

He took Ben's hands into his own and gave them a gentle squeeze. "Listen, Ben. It's honorable of you to feel remorse for something you didn't do, but please don't. It made me strong living on the Isle and I know I've fought you at every turn since I've been here, I just wanted to say thank you for giving me a chance to be good."

Instead of answering him, Ben leaned forward and kissed him on the lips.

We are all different, however and you, my perfect treasure, have been a well of mysteries,” sliding off me, he crawled to the nightstand—to the drawer of mysteries—while adding, “so I can’t say how long it’ll be for you.” Posing suggestively with a tiny bottle—of clear, glittering oils—he wiggled it and cooed, “But I can ease the ache…” I leaned with salacious words on my lips—to tell him how he already had, could again—but the strain it put on the hole in my shoulder sent me reeling, cutting more to my intention, “scopami!” Giggles chased his worried gasp and he teased, “Mm, maybe after.”

While all that enchanting forest remained at a distance, soft white sands and sea-black stone—glittering all too familiar—worked to lead us with a pulsing rhythm through our boots. And I wondered then...if it were the Isle’s flesh, her skin. “Of course it’s her skin, treasure,” Lucient answered aloud—confusing no one, the men accustomed to hearing one-sided conversations, “what else would one call the rocky surface of a living island.” Responding to his knowing tone, I teased, “I’d best not touch it then, lest I rile a certain jealous brat…” Not bothering to check for the crew’s eyes, Lucient swatted me—grinning for my sharp gasp—and held my arm tighter, whispering, “As if you’d need more than that mouth.”

“A shame, isn’t it, treasure?” Lucient asked my confused interest in the packaged meals, “To remember ones desire for such things...yet hold none of it.” Patting my arm, he slipped by me and out the door, “You can still enjoy it, as I’ve said. We are not so removed from life as to have lost our taste.” Following after, six of those boxed meals in my arms, I considered it and remembered what he’d said last I broached the subject, “but it does something to our stomachs, yes?” Giggling, he winked back at me, “It dies in them,” my gasp was soft, but he caught it and giggled again, “It is rather painful and unpleasant on its way out as well. So, please, my love...choose wisely.”

Favor my only instance is a wee bit of filth and our narrator is still human in it...

“Please,” he cooed, rubbing my shoulders with his feet. So sweet that voice, rich syrup to my ears, but hearing it beg was sweeter. Grabbing his legs, I stopped the tease, pulled my lips free and pressed for more—and perhaps showed off a bit, “Alors, qu’est-ce que mon rêve veut que je fasse?” To paraphrase, what I said was, then what does my dream want me to do? He answered first with wide eyes and a nibbled lip before I lost his legs as he hooked them under my arms and pulled me forward. Not until he’d trapped me in those legs and tasted every sweaty lick of my neck did he answer with words, returning the favor of a native tongue, “Prendimi.”

My thoughts on the newest IOE chapter:

(SPOILERS FOR ISLE OF ENCHANTMENT)

First off, SHE’S SO PRETTY!!!😭🥺 And I’m so annoyed I can’t romance her.

Hi Ruby from once upon a time, nice to see you again. I’m kidding! But I’m also not. First Rouge showing us his wolverine cospay and impression, and now this? Not very original of you fictif.

I kinda saw that coming. I think it’s kinda cliche but it’s too early for me to really make much of a comment on it I think. I’m interested to see where they’re going to go with this.

Also, I’m actually kinda happy that they mentioned periods?? Like none of the other stories have, and it’s very rare to have it mentioned unless it’s to put menstruating individuals down. But I like that they mentioned and didn’t make it weird.

With Scarlett and Rouge’s wolf forms….wth? They’re so boring! If I think of a person who transforms into a wolf, I think of an actual wolf! Not some person with anger issues, pointy teeth, and bone claws. Seriously. I wanna see full on wolf or beast like the wolf in once upon a time, or even the beast from beauty and the beast. Not whatever this is.

Now this! I would like to say: THANK YOU BILLIE FOR CARING! So many times it happens in stories (including in places by fictif/the arcana) where something will happen to the mc, usually traumatic, and it’s not even mentioned? Like everyone (mc included) just magically gets over it? It’s not dealt with or brought up ever again? I’m glad they’re allowing the characters to question things and check in with the mc and offer to let them go home.💕

There was another scene with Hook, but my silly butt didn’t screenshot it (and I was not replaying it just for that). But I am also liking showing the realness of how the mc would react after being attacked, by Rouge no doubt. I have unfortunately experienced my own severe trauma and I know how this sorta thing plays out afterwards and, it’s actually a pretty good representation of that. I hope to see more of that sort of writing, where they actually write mc, as well as other characters, feeling and acting in ways they ACTUALLY would act after a traumatic experience. Now obviously there are areas where the writing could of been better but, it’s a start. Especially as not many books actually draw attention to trauma characters would have, and when they do , they do not write it properly.

Female characters I can actually romance and for more than 5 seconds.🥲😒

I mean I was at first, but now? Not really. It was very anticlimactic & ngl you look and sound pretty boring. I like your ears tho.

I’m still beyond mad at fictif, and I’m mad that there are like 4 women I could be romancing but only 1 of them I can, and I have a feeling I’m gonna be mad at how this ends, but!! I’m actually seeing a bit of promise with this story. Not saying it’s the greatest , but it has a few things about it that are nice and promising. I just hope they don’t fuck it up like they usually do. And this doesn’t make up for anything they’ve pulled coz at this point even an apology isn’t gonna cut it. But either way, I’m actually enjoying it.
