Horst Kerr x Reader: Bun

Word Count: 542

Warnings/Notes: Pregnant!Reader, mention of pregnancy, and a clueless partner (fluff), established relationship.

Summary: The Reader is excited to share news of their pregnancy with their partner Horst, however, he is not understanding their hints.

  Hours had passed, the sun had since set, and you continued waiting. The news ran through your mind and traveled like lightning between your limbs. Unhinged excitement. Bouncing with joy, you paced in and out of the rooms in your home. Only a little longer to wait before Horst returned home from work for the night.

  Granted, you had not been running around for the entire day. No, you were inspired by your own happiness and intended to savor it. And maybe put it to some good use as well.

  When the front door opened and Horst finally arrived, you whipped your head around. Shutting and locking the door, he paused. The sight of you standing so still and yet shaking in your glowing excitement definitely caught his attention.

  “Good news?” He asked, hanging up his jacket.

  “I want to show you something,” you beamed. Reaching out to him, your smile grew impossibly larger as he took your hand.

  Leading him through the house, you entered an ever familiar space. Filled with art, supplies, and everything you could ever need, your art studio was the perfect workspace for you. For now, it would do well as a quick viewing gallery for your latest piece. There on an easel was a new painting that you had recently finished that day.

  Releasing his hand, you promptly stood next to it. It would not be long to hear his thoughts, you were sure.   Horst’s brows furrowed in the slightest with his internal commentary. “Why did you paint bread resting in an oven?”

  Your face fell at his words. Did you hear correctly? Was he messing with you, now of all times? “It’s a bun, Horst.”

  He had blinked, but other than that, he only observed. As if it was just an ordinary painting. Simple. It was, but there was actual meaning and symbolism behind it. You thought it was a cute idea at the time.   He nodded, as if coming to a conclusion. “A bun in the oven. Are you creating a food series again? You have not done one since Gusteau asked for that one commission a few years ago.”   His peaking interest left you giggling. “No, but I might.”   “Oh.”   Exasperated by his sudden lacing in the ability to connect the metaphorical dots, you cried out. “Horst!”   “What?” He leaned back from your less than pleased reaction.   “Repeat what this is.”   “A painting of a bun in an oven.”   Piercing your lips together, you gestured sharply at the canvas and then yourself.   A moment of silence hung in the air until the inevitable. Horst’s eyes went wide, the discs of blue more prominent. Looking between you and the painting multiple times, his mouth finally opened.   “Are…truly, my love?”   You were shocked yourself. A speechless Horst? He usually said whatever he liked, no matter how blunt at times.   Just as you nodded, the pair of you shared equally happy grins. He approached slowly, and hugged you tenderly.   “I’m not going to break,” you assured him.   Snuggling closer, he placed kisses to your forehead, cheeks, and lips.   You laughed to yourself at a thought. If Horst did not understand at this point, you would have let him figure it out on his own eventually.

I am convinced that Horst, the sous chef from Ratatouille, has done all the crimes he claims to admit to. He's served time in prison but changes why every time you ask, if memory serves me correctly, here are the stories we get:

Caused a hole in the ozone

Rob a bank with a ballpoint pen

Killed a man with this thumb

I've seen theories of people trying to figure out what his actual crime is, but I'm just convinced the dude is some kind of legend who has just committed every crime possible.

I like to imagine Uraume with this really dry humor, like that chef from Ratatouille who went to prison and no one knows why. “Before Horst worked at Gusteau's restaurant, he was said to have done time; no one knew for sure what he did, as he would change the story every time he was asked. His stories included defrauding a major corporation, robbing the second largest bank in France with only a ballpoint pen, creating an ozone hole over Avignon, and killing a man with his right thumb.”

Like Uraume talking to Yuuji like, “I killed a man, with this thumb” 👍🏻

It all started when Auguste Gusteau met a beautiful woman names Renata Sør in Paris one evening after she dined at his restaurant. The two hit it off and it wasn’t long until a relationship blossomed. A whirlwind summer of love kicked off for the duo but the sun soon set on it when Auguste found out that Renata’s ex-partner wasn’t exactly her ex-partner. Magnus Sør had come to win back what was once his in spectacular fashion, and while Auguste was a rich man himself, there was no competing with the Sør legacy. So off sailed the love of his life with the love of her life and that was that. 

For months the French hopeless romantic that was Auguste, left hidden signs all over Paris that only she would know off she was keeping tabs on him. A new dish here being raved about in the media, a billboard with a specific design there, a new restaurant that only served one dish. Ratatouille. The dish she had when they first met that night. The heartbreak was killing him. Months later, one evening after the restaurant closed, the phone in his office rang, but Auguste never spoke. After hearing crashing on the other line, Renata quickly called one of their mutual friends and it was them who had found him. In a cruel twist of fate, he had fallen victim to a heart attack and was found on the floor of his office. With the news of her being the last call to him and her being photographed at events, the world put two and two together and found out that Auguste was going to be a father before he would. 

Given the situation and a restaurant empire up for grabs to anyone who craved it, Renata and Magnus agreed that the child had the claim. Alfredo was born and DNA tests were done to prove that the child was indeed his son, the claim was set and Magnus swiftly filed the paperwork to adopt Alfredo as a son. 

Alfredo was lucky number 7 in the line up of the 13 Sør sons, and was a chip of the ol’ block when it came to Magnus. For the only son that wasn’t legitimately Magnus’, Alfredo was the favourite. Magnus even called him ‘Lucky’ as a nickname, a gift that none of the other Sør kids were presented with. It was that that had kicked off the animosity between Hans and himself. Hans couldn’t stand that Alfredo was the favourite and like brothers do, Alfredo rubbed it in. It didn’t help that their father encouraged the competitive streak in all the boys and Alfredo played to win. He always won. That was the problem. Now that competitive streak has transpired into adult life, it had caused the brothers to be at loggerheads and thrive to piss the other off just out of spite and spite alone. 

Being competitive at home only made him more driven in the business world, much to his fathers approval. Alfredo took after both fathers. He went into culinary school, the best one on the planet based in France and built his own restaurant lovingly named after his mother (that earned him bonus points), the next named Magnus (that HELLA earned him bonus points) and the third Auguste - a special place to his mother as Alfredo kept the tradition of only serving Ratatouille just like his birth fathers place did years ago before the closed after his death (if he wasn’t the favourite already, that secured his lifelong spot)

Fast forward to now, Alfredo still has his restaurants but has a board that looks after them and that allowed him to branch out to being a food and culinary entrepreneur. Since his time away, the Sør family somewhat settled in Redwood Hollow and he’s set his sights on restaurant number four.

i have a bunch of ocs. Many are still in drafts cuz ive been busy with fan works. But i have two to 3 series one i am trying to turn into an animation series (@the-mis-adventurers ) and another that is gonna be a collab comic series with @strawberry-mangoprincess (she's more active one her Insta compared to me lol) one is just merely a fun concept i think about every now and then.

Overall my ocs are inspired by other fictional characters. mainly from whatever media i consume and enjoy.

Starting with the concept one.

I only have two ocs made for it so far. Ember and Crystal. They are sisters with fire and ice elemental powers hence their names. Ember like fire embers and crystal like ice Crystals. Orphans dunno who there parents were. Not clear if their powers ran in the family/curse/etc.

Ember always had trouble controlling her powers especially with having a fiery temper. She's the more friendlier sibling however. Crystal despises her ice powers. She has an easier time hiding them so she can blend in with normal people. (I gotta draw them again sometime)

Crystal doesnt hate her sister but isn't close to her either. Feeling the need to take care of her since she's the last of kin.

And now for my (slightly) more thought out ocs from my wip series, the misadventurers

In a nutshell i want this series to be about the power of friendship (i blame my mlp phase for this-)

There's four main characters. All girls bc why not?

Their names are mink, jing, Raine and jennifer.

Mink is the more calm and responsible one out of her friends. Mom friend type. Her hair was actually blonde but turned pink to unknown reasons. (I took inspiration from lofi music when creating her) She proudly owns a pet turtle named fern. Will kick butt if her friends are hurt.

Jing is a goth who enjoys making music. she plans on startd her own band someday. (Eventually she does with her friends. Its called rock n pop. Pending title for now) has a rivalry with another oc of mines, Lillian. Loves to scare the others with pranks and horror movies.

Raine is the artist of the group. She tends to break the fourth wall whenever she wants. Also whatever she draws with her paint brush becomes real. her name is also a pun. Raine strom. (You can see her on my tumblr header harassing my old sona) Very zany in a good way. Has a crush on a dense boi*

Jennifer is a social butterfly. Heart's too big for her sleeve. Pacifist. Tends to let wild animals in the house. And thats how she got a pet goat who may or may not actually be one. Her mother wishes she'd be more responsible.

Now for some reccuring characters-

Lillian - famous star, used to be childhood friends with jing. And now they hate eachothers guts. Primadonna gurrrrllll. All she ever wanted was the worrrrldddd(Took alot of inspiration from the song for her) is an attention hog and will do anything to be popular.

*Milo - Also known as peppermint boi/j. But seriously look at his color pallet-. He does enjoy mints and always passing one out to people. Very dense and doesn't get when he is getting on someone nerves. Just as zany as raine. Uber positive. Don't let him get too excited tho. Cuz he'll LITERALLY explode.

Cole - college drop out. Wonders why the haystack milo and raine won't leave him be. Also tends to be their third wheel on their 'not' dates. He hates it. Very moody. Legend has it he's never laughed or smiled before.

Derek - just some rich dude. Comes up with so many back stories like Horst from ratatouille so its hard to tell which is fake and what is real. Tries really hard for Jennifer to fall for him but doesn't work out.

I already rambled to you about max and min. Buttt I can tell you a it more about them at least about their absent/missing parents

Thymes (pronounced Times) and Divid are the twins and Equan’s Parents.

They are both scientists who worked for [REDACTED]. Thymes and Divid were both pretty much crazy but in a ‘not so dangerous’ type of way.  always ready to invent stuff even if it held no actual purpose.

It did concern them greatly when Equan started going through a Frankenstein phase. At least they assumed it was. Probably didn’t help much they were pretty much working even at home leaving their kids pretty much unattended(And boy oh boy did they learn…)

And sadly disappeared due to unknown circumstances.
