Most of the people I've seen talk about the "tiny house movement" will openly tell you that their main reason for doing it is because it's the only house they can afford. They'll add a bit of minimalist or 'back to nature' language but they do not hide the fact that they're not financially secure and made their choice based on that. The fancy youtube blogs who go around and tour the tiny homes will ask up-front about costs, savings, financial advantages and necessary support. But occasionally you do get a "my $500,000 tiny home!" or "I had a $400,000 custom trailer built to live in! #houselessnothomeless!" trend weirdo, and there is a weird tendency for people to make it look more accessible than it is (saying stuff like 'we built our offgrid tiny home ourselves for $3,000!' and it turns out they keep it rent free on a family friend's land and materials were donated by a different friends and it was built by their dad who is a professional builder and did the work for free using his work equipment or something, and they include none of this in the cost).

Splurged a little bit & made myself chocolate chip pancakes with my coffee this morning. I don't know how labor people do it every single day. I am SO sore. Finished the insulation on one side of the van. Disconnected the wiring to my inverter & batteries, so it can be done correctly later. Removed & treated the rust. The guy I hired, put in the new floor. Next month, I'll be laying down vinyl on the floor and putting in the van sides. I am totally going to be a lazy lizard today & tomorrow. Then it's back to work, to get estimates for balancing and an alignment.... To anyone who thinks that labor peeps don't need an education... When we told people we were going to be moving into an RV full time, we heard one resounding question in return- “Why?” ⁣ It wasn’t always negative, people just didn’t understand why we would give up our old lives.
