#the ways the people misunderstand copyright law #there is no de minimus standard for copyright #NONE #and to say that search engine scraping is the same as scraping for generative AI and therefore fair use... dude no #fair use has to be non competitive with the original rights holder #and generally non commercial #you cannot say in good faith that these plagiarism machines are non competitive #they are actively promoting and going after the ability to make output in a specific artist's style #AND THEN THEY'RE CHARGING PEOPLE MONEY FOR IT #and the ones that aren't /currently/ will be eventually #this isn't a tool for FINDING someone's creative work the way a search engine it #it's a tool for OBSCURING the author's involvement #and then promoting someone saying copyright should only last a decade??? WHAT??#that's shorter than a patent and patents are meant to be the shortest IP term by design #we used to havd shorter copyright terms in this country and guess what? the disneys of the day didn't suffer #the artists were the ones who got screwed over #and to say collective bargaining is going to fix the issue is... well... not uh... supported by history #look up the formation of ASCAP #how they went on strike #and the creation of BMI #understand that artists had their careers entirely derailed as a result and lost their livelihoods because of corporate greed #and like I don't love the ways that sample clearance has evolved #(especially thinking of Fat Boy Slim not getting any royalties from The Rockafeller Skank)#BUT it is a system that could work #OR we look at something like a mechanical #where artists are just automatically paid for use of their work in a dataset #but like #just a massive misunderstanding of the current state and history of copyright law there #and just for the record YES SONNY BONO WAS A MISTAKE AND LIFE + 70 IS EXCESSIVE #but a single decade?? just say you hate working artists and be done with it

Y’know. Anakin was a real asshole in Ahsoka’s hallucination.

Like. She mentions something about what she’ll be able to teach her padawan one day, since all she’s being taught is how to be a soldier, and Anakin’s like “teaching’s not all it’s cracked up to be”

And like. Asshole move. And Ahsoka rightfully calls him out on it. And he goes on the whole “uuuh I was joking. Lighten up.” Literally a complete jackass.

But beyond how he answered the question, it’s a valid complaint Ahsoka is bringing up! Anakin’s teaching her how to live or die. But Ahsoka wants to be taught how to be a jedi.

What happens after the war is over (order 66 never happens) and she now has to navigate a galaxy without a war? The Jedi take teaching very seriously there’s no greater honor than teaching a padawan. And she’s not being accurately taught, so she will not be able to pass anything on to the next generation.

But Anakin brushes it aside because he simply does not respect her or her wishes. Like. He never wanted a padawan, despite teaching being foundational to the Jedi. And he only took ahsoka in because he started to like her and became attached to her. He doesn’t care about jedi legacy, not really. So he brushes her comment off with a joke.

But in the rest of the vision… idk it didn’t feel like we were supposed view Anakin as entirely wrong here. He wasn’t in the right, he was definitely channeling Vader and being an ass, but he was basically the reason Ahsoka survived the fall, right? Bc he was making her choose life? When Ahsoka wins against him it’s sort of like she’s both learned his lesson and moved beyond him. And then for the rest of the season he’s only talked about in positive ways.

And like. That one line ahsoka said was really powerful in relation to the entire point of the show. What does she have to pass onto her own padawan (Sabine) if she wasn’t properly trained herself? That is, perhaps, the only valid plot question asked in the entire show. And it doesn’t get an answer. It’s never even brought up again.

#I have now learned Dave filoni wrote the entire series #so I am able to say now with absolute positivity that he’s a shit writer #I had been blaming the issues that the writers went on strike for #but no it’s just filoni being a terrible writer I guess?#I mean. none of the character issues are ever really resolved #we have no reason to believe ahsoka is ready to be a master now #we have no real understanding of WHY Sabine unlocked her force powers and shit (not how it works but whatever)#Sabine never learns her lesson about letting thrawn come back #Ahsoka doesn’t get anything really resolved with Anakin #she just acts like he was never Vader and that he was a great master #when we SEE in her vision he was not #idk it’s like every character plot point was dropped #nothing happened in the first half of the show #the dark side girl had a half rebellion but we got no emotion or background from her #it was just… a pointless show #nothing was accomplished #star wars #anti ahsoka #anti anakin skywalker

also i know like jack shit about akechi ive talked to him a whole 3 times but the first time i saw him in that one beginning cutscene i was like "I NEED TO SEE THAT TWINK AGAIN" and got excessively excited when we met him ingame so i have been overcome by the urge to make him my best friend (which i will do. he will be my best friend.)

its also so funny bc everyone ingame is like "ugh that akechi is so annoying.. ruining our rep... hes so infuriating.." and im sitting here like "man i wonder if akechi will like this next case.. sigh i wonder where he is rn.. i like his voice"

you know what really gets to me. is how jack loosens up david’s morals. like how david starts off as a staunch pacifist because of the Optics and strategy of it all, but then later he kicks a cop in the face and threatens him with a swing + tries to punch jack when he scabs. and both instances occur specifically because he cares so deeply about jack. But also there's this tidbit from the 91 script

it's like. up until now, david's interactions with jack have largely consisted of david being openly skeptical/confrontational whenever he detects any kind of bullshit. and while he immediately clocks that all this stuff about santa fe is a lie, for the first time, he decides to let it go. Because there's a kernel of authenticity to the statement, though the authenticity doesn’t lie in factual truth, it’s in how jack desperately "wants it to be true". because. this is david's first time seeing the soft underbelly to jack. because david IS charmed by jack despite not really trusting him

on my knees crying and begging for the uk railways to be renationalised... I can't keep living like this.......

#my mum was saying how when she was younger she'd get the train everywhere and never even consider whether they wouldn't be running #now between limited services and strikes it's like you're lucky if there even is a train running and even then it's probably delayed #and also it costs £100 #i live by one of the best connected stations in my area and under 20mins train from a major city it should not be hard to get everywhere!!!!#last time i went to a concert (in aforementioned major city) we had to drive to another town and go from there #because there weren't any late trains #then this weekend we're going to london (like 1.5hrs) and the earliest train gets in at 12:30????? so we have to drive #then the next weekend is eras in liverpool so i checked the train option #and the latest train back is at 7pm??? on a saturday night??????? i hate it here i need the tories OUT #talking
