RECKONING

In the morning light, things are painfully clear.
MINORS AND AGELESS BLOGS DO NOT INTERACT.
a sequel to aftermath.
pairing: getou suguru x gn!reader
notes: was i ever expecting to finish this sequel? not really. did it possess me this afternoon? yes. so here we are. unbeta'd.
wc: 1.2k
cw: mentions/implications of child abuse.
You make mackerel for breakfast.
It crackles as you lay it in the pan. You watch as the skin starts to sear, and you think of the scorch marks a lightning strike leaves behind.
Suguru is warm next to you, deftly cutting a cucumber into perfect little medallions. The quiet, hollow thud of your sharpest chef’s knife rings in your ears.
(He took it from you with gentle, firm fingers, his big hand wrapping around yours on the handle. The blade flashed in the watery morning light, a quicksilver gleam.
You could feel his dark eyes on you. Idly, you wondered where he was slotting you in his ever-shifting equation.
He swept his thumb over your skin. The touch was soft. Familiar.
You let go of the knife.)
Suguru pauses mid-cut.
“The girls are awake,” he says, just as you feel his curse—swirling slowly around your guest room, a lazy seaweed drift—stutter to a halt.
“Go,” you say. “I'll finish up here.”
He’s broad against your back as he slips by, and you know that if you turned around, he’d curve around you like the sky, vast and unending. His fingertips ghost over the small of your back, leaving little imprints against your skin, even through your shirt. Then the heat of him is gone; you hear him pad down the hallway.
He leaves the knife.
For a moment, you stare at it. It's glinting on the cutting board, wet with cucumber seeds. Your fingers twitch.
You flip the mackerel over.
You’re watching the edges blacken when Suguru reaches past you and turns off the burner. He moves the pan to the side. When he pulls back, he catches your chin in one big hand and makes you face him.
His eyes—night-sky dark and gleaming like starshine—trace over you. He has Nanako balanced on his hip; Mimiko is holding on to his pant leg, her knuckles white. She stares up at you with big eyes. There are bruises scattered over her face like storm clouds, deep and dark.
Your chest hurts, a bone-deep ache, like your ribs are collapsing in on themselves, an eggshell cage.
Suguru’s grip tightens on your chin. He looks you over, his gaze flaying, stripping you down to your marrow, an autopsy cut. You don’t know what he sees in your face, but he sweeps his thumb over your bottom lip, slow and heavy.
When he lets go of you, the breath you were holding spills out of you. You watch silently as he puts Nanako down. He kneels in front of both girls to speak to them, but you don’t hear him, not really. The words are beyond your grasp; there’s only the sound of Suguru’s voice, warm and rich, dripping over you like resin. You think of insects caught in sunlit amber, how perfectly they’re preserved in their final moments.
The girls disappear into the dining area, accompanied by one of Suguru’s more playful curses. It darts around them, hovering nearby and nudging at them when they turn to look back at him.
There’s something in Suguru’s face each time they turn around; a terrible, tender twist of his lips.
You turn back to the stove.
Suguru settles at your side. “I think it’s beyond saving,” he says, watching you poke at the mackerel with a chopstick.
“It’s not.”
The skin crunches, a few bits of char flaking away.
He wraps a hand around your wrist. When you glance at him, his dark eyes pierce through you. “Yes,” he says. “It is.”
He watches you. You bite your lip and nod.
The sound of him emptying the pan into the trash makes you wince. Each scrape of the knife echoes, a whining animal noise that makes your bones ache.
Suguru sets the pan into the sink with a hollow thud.
“I have eggs,” you offer.
“Tamagoyaki?”
“Yeah.”
“Sounds good.”
You gather everything you need; Suguru goes back to the cucumbers, the knife singing as it slices through them, its blade slick. You try not to watch, instead staring down into the frothy swirl of eggs.
It’s quiet.
In the distance, you can hear the girls talking to each other softly, their voices barely over a whisper, all shivering leaves. It makes something in your chest go tight, how quiet they are.
“You would have taken them too.”
You go still. You don’t look at Suguru.
“Yes,” you say. “I would have.”
He hums; it sounds pleased. You swallow down the bile.
The two of you don’t speak again.
—
Breakfast is a quiet affair. The girls stare at you from across the kotatsu, where they’re pressed in against Suguru’s sides like little limpets. They flinch when you move, their honey-brown eyes widening. It makes your stomach roil, a storm-struck sea.
Suguru talks, but you barely hear him. When you have to ask him to repeat himself for the fourth time, he pauses, his dark eyes flickering over you.
He shoos the girls into your living room, sending yet another curse flitting after them, a little darting fish with too many eyes.
“Come here,” he says, and you do.
When you settle next to him, he raises a hand and cups your cheek. You turn into his touch without thinking, your lips pressing against the leylines of his palm. You wonder if his future is written there.
(You think yours might be.)
He examines you for a moment. Suguru has always been able to flay you down to your marrow, but this time, it feels sharper, a slit into the very heart of you.
He strokes a thumb over the apple of your cheek, shifting so that he cradles your jaw. Your lips part; you unfurl for him, petal-bodied. He leans in.
“Don’t,” you murmur.
He pauses.
For a moment, he lingers, his lips almost brushing yours. His breath ghosts hot across your lips; when he breathes in, he takes your air, makes it his own.
“You’re not coming.”
“No,” you whisper. “I’m not.”
His fingers tighten on your jaw. You take in a sharp breath and they loosen again, before his hand falls away entirely.
When you look at him, his face is perfectly blank, a rising new moon fading into the sky. There’s something secret tucked up into the corner of his lips, too faint for you to decipher.
“Suguru—”
He pushes to his feet gracefully. He gazes down at you, still on your knees before him. Like this, he takes up your entire world, his broad form the earth and the sky alike. He gazes down at you, and for a moment, you don’t know him at all.
He steps around you, heading towards the living room.
Something in you cracks open, a wound of your own making. You swallow down the sob.
“I’m sorry,” you say to the empty room.
Only silence answers you.
—
Suguru leaves.
Mimiko is cradled against his shoulder, her little body furled in tight against him. You think of early spring blooms, still delicate in the aftermath of winter’s harsh touch. Nanako is pressing close to his leg, her hand engulfed in his steady grip. He’s slowed his pace for her.
You watch them until they disappear.
Suguru never looks back.
—
“Principal Yaga?” you say into the phone. “I need to make a report.”

Mythical/Supernatural Being
vampire!Leon S. Kennedy x fem!reader - NSFW

not proofread ✌️
You’re at a party when he catches your eye. Mindy, your co worker, decided to have a little costume party that now seems to be out of her control with people from all over showing up to her house.
It explains why this man you’ve never met, but feels familiar, seems to be checking you out. He’s pretty in a handsome sort of way, strong cheekbones and very serious blue eyes. You shoot him a smile when your eyes meet and he tilts his head, a curious and bland look on his face.
Feeling like you may have read the room wrong, you offer an awkward smile and a shrug before turning and making your way into the, surprisingly, empty kitchen.
“Hello.”
A man’s voice speaks behind you making you jump in place before turning around, clutching the base of your neck.
“Jeez, you scared me,” you laugh nervously, “uh, h-hi.”
The man from earlier stands just a foot away now, letting you see him fully. He’s taller than you thought and fit, biceps and shoulders pressing against his shirt and making your mouth water.
“I’m sorry for staring earlier,” he gives you an easy going smile, “you just reminded me of someone.”
Embarrassment burns hot behind your eyes making you internally cringe.
“Oh no big deal!” You clear your throat, “I guess I’m just sorry I took it the wrong way.”
His smile slips into a grin, “How did you take it?”
Feeling flustered now, you fidget with the gaudy rings on your fingers that you thought were a riot to pair with your vampire costume.
“It doesn’t matter,” you shrug, “so uh, are you friends with Mindy?”
He laughs, “Is it bad that I don’t even know who that is?”
You grin, “No, to be fair, I don’t think more than ten people probably know the host. But I guess however you found out, you at least knew to dress up.”
He laughs again, blue eyes sharper than before, “Yeah? What am I supposed to be?”
You gesture to yourself, “A vampire, unless I’m off the mark. We have the same vibe going.”
Leon glances down at his own clothing, dark pants with a long sleeved white shirt and vest offset with a velvet coat with tails. He then looks up to see your silly lacy frock with a red vest paired with dark wash jeans.
You laugh again, “Okay, well yours is a little more like the real deal but to be fair I only had like an hour to throw this together.”
He goes to step forward when a group of people bustle into the kitchen, loudly talking and laughing with each other. Grabbing your hand, he tugs and you follow as he leads you both through the French doors into the backyard.
You feel your heart rate kick into overdrive when he guides you all the way to the gazebo off to the side, nearly hidden from view of the house.
“We shouldn’t be interrupted anymore, right?” He smiles at you but instead of invoking warmth it sends chills running down your spine.
“R-right,” you give him a shaky smile in return, realizing Leon is blocking the only way out of the gazebo, “so, um, you said I reminded you of someone. Were you looking for her here?”
“You could say that,” he takes a step forward and you take one back.
“I might can help, I mean I know a lot of people here already,” you ramble, feeling your nerves get the best of you.
He smirks, features looking colder in the moonlight, “No need, she’s technically not around anymore.”
“Technically?” The spit in your mouth dries up as your back hits the gazebo lattice.
Leon keeps getting closer to you until he’s boxing you in, hands coming up to brace on either side of your head. You’re engulfed with his scent of cedar wood and pine resin sprinkled with hints of warm vanilla underneath; it makes you dizzier the more you breathe it in.
Leaning down, he noses gently against your hairline making you gasp.
“She’s not alive anymore,” he murmurs against the shell of your ear in amusement, “it’s just a little game I like to play, to find her look alike. This isn’t the first time I’ve played with you. Aren’t you lucky, my little vampire?”
You push against Leon’s chest but his mouth watering scent keeps you dizzy and weak, like a kitten pawing at his vest making him chuckle.
“Poor thing,” one of his hands moves to cradle your jaw, his thumb smoothing over your bottom lip, “you’re in over your silly little head, hmm?”
“Who’re you?” You slur out, tongue feeling heavy in your mouth.
“Leon, but you already knew that,” he coos, blue eyes gazing deep into your own, “you’re resisting me, little vampire, but it’s no use.”
“Wanna leave,” you mumble tiredly, unable to pull away from him.
He chuckles meanly, “But why? I’m going to make you feel so good.”
You feel a sharp needle like pain sink into the side of your neck followed by honey thick pleasure dripping down your body from that pressure point. Pressing your thighs together, you whimper as your cunt throbs with want. A rumbling moan comes from the man in front of you as he drinks from your neck.
Your hands tangle in his hair with the intention to yank him away but against your own wishes you pull him closer, whining for more. With a growl, he pulls away from your neck, blue eyes so bright they seem to shine in the dark. His mouth is swollen and painted red with your blood.
“So sweet,” he licks his bottom lip and you catch a hint of his fangs, “I could smell you from outside. Your blood called to me as it always does, sweetling.”
“W-what?” You gasp out while he licks across the bite mark on your neck, sealing the wound as if it was never there.
“Shhh, just let me taste you,” he murmurs against your skin.
Tearing your vest off and shirt open, he pulls down the cup of your bra and bites your breast right above your heart. A keening cry slips past your lips and you sag against his firm body. He moans and uses one arm to wrap around your upper body, cradling you to him as he drinks.
Your mind drifts in a fugue state, feeling the sharp bite of pain each time he sinks his fangs into your body but immediately having it swept away by arousal so potent it has your thighs trembling as slick fills and soaks through your panties.
By the time, he pulls away from your body, you’re swaying into his chest, unable to stay up on your own two feet. He slots his leg in between your thighs and you moan, rocking down on the pressure against your clit.
“Such a needy girl,” he rasps, big hands gripping the fat of your hips to help you grind against his thigh, “come on sweetling, make yourself cum and I’ll take you home.”
The only thing your brain latches onto is making yourself cum. You need it so badly. Humping down onto Leon’s thighs, he kisses and nips at your neck, scraping his fangs against the skin and making you whimper at the hint of pain.
“Cum for me, then I can take you apart in a real bed, make you scream for me,” his dark baritone promises, tongue tracing the shell of your ear, “be a good girl and cum on my leg.”
He yanks you down on his leg just right, rubbing your swollen clit against the seam of your jeans and making your orgasm uncoil from your belly. You cum with a low moan; reaching out, your nails dig into his broad shoulders as you whimper, slowly coming to a stop against his thigh.
Your whole body feels wiped out, like you can sleep forever.
A rumbling chuckle makes you realize you must’ve spoken out loud.
“No one wants to sleep forever.”
Your brain is slow to come back online which Leon is all too happy to coax you back into a half asleep state. He swings you up into his arms and that’s the last thing you remember before passing out.
It feels like your consciousness is swimming through molasses as you finally come to your senses. Blearily, you open your eyes, squinting from the steady moonlight pouring through the open window. Turning your head, you can’t see much of the room, only that you’re splayed out in a large bed with soft sheets.
“There she is,” a voice rumbles from between your legs drawing your half open gaze.
Looking down, you see that you’re completely naked and marked all over with puncture wounds. The man from the party is lying between your spread legs.
“Leon,” you murmur softly and he grins, showing off his sharpened incisors.
“Glad you could join me,” he kisses the bite mark he’d been nursing on your thigh making your clit throb.
His mouth kisses up to the junction of where your cunt and thigh meet, letting his fangs pierce your soft skin. Your thighs tremble and slick drips from your pussy as he laps up the blood beading from the punctures he made.
“So pretty, all marked up like this,” he purrs, mouth kissing across to your mound and aching clit, “should I sink my teeth into this fat little pussy?”
You moan shakily as his fangs teasingly brush across the lips of your cunt.
“Maybe after I’ve had my fill,” he chuckles lowly, “wanna eat you out first.”
With a sigh, he sinks down and licks up the slick dripping from your hole, tongue thrusting lazily inside your pussy. Your arms lay above your head, fingers twitching, feeling weighed down like you can’t move them. Whining, you toss your head back, hips rolling against Leon’s hungry mouth.
His hands trap your thighs against the bed, keeping your spread open as he laps and sucks his way up to your sensitive bud. His mouth softly kisses across the hood of your clit until you’re rocking up into him.
“Please,” you gasp out, “please, Leon.”
He growls and suckles your clit into his mouth, tongue circling the sensitive nerves over and over until you’re humping his mouth with a moan. Laughing, he pulls away to spit on your cunt making your whole body shudder.
“My girl tastes so good,” he kisses all around your pussy, teeth nipping the sensitive skin making you whimper, “but I think it’ll be better if I fuck this silky pussy, right baby?”
You moan and Leon pulls away from your wet cunt. He moves up your body, forearms braced on either side of your head as he grinds down against you, dripping cock leaking precum all over your slick thighs. Your body feels an insatiable need to be filled— fucked by Leon.
He slides his arms underneath your shoulders to help you wrap your hands around his neck. Then, he reaches down to guide your legs to wrap around his waist.
“Good girl,” he coos, making your head go fuzzy as that intoxicating scent of his seems to bloom in the air, “about to stretch this gorgeous little pussy out.”
You let out a choked off gasp as his cock breaches your cunt, bottoming out quickly, stretching your walls to the point you feel split in two.
“Leon,” you mewl pitifully, tears slipping from your eyes.
“Shh, shh,” he soothes, “it already feels good doesn’t it, sweetling?”
His fangs open up two new holes in the side of your neck making your cunt clamp down on his cock as a small orgasm washes through you.
“There we go,” he coos condescendingly, “pussy just needed a little help. Now you’re cumming all over me.”
You sob out a moan, tears streaming down your temples as Leon pulls out and fucks roughly back into your sensitive hole. Although your legs and arms are wrapped around his body, you lie there practically limp as he fucks his thick cock into your soaked pussy.
“You’re always such a good fuck,” he grunts in your ear, “no matter how many times we do this.”
“What’re you…”
You try to talk but your mind is just too out of it to form words.
He chuckles meanly, “This isn’t the first time. But don’t worry, I’ll make you forget so we can do this again.”
His cock throbs and kicks inside your fluttering walls making you whimper.
“Mmm, I’m gonna play with this cute pussy all night,” he groans, dragging his cock against the spongy spot in your cunt that has you clenching around him.
He snaps his hips harder and fucks the fat tip of his cock against your cervix making you squeal. He’s barely pulling out before thrusting back in, scraping against your g-spot before his cock presses deep inside your pussy. A handful of harsh grinds as he fucks the opening to your womb has you a drooling mess.
“That’s the spot,” he rumbles, voice a low rasp, “and when I cum, it’s gonna be deep inside this needy cunt.”
You cry out when he sinks his teeth into you over and over, not even drinking your blood, just marking your neck up with vicious bites. It’s enough to make you cum hard around his cock, toes curling as fireworks explode inside your mind. He humps inside your spasming pussy until burying himself balls deep and spilling his sticky jizz all inside your fluttering walls.
“Taking it like such a good girl,” he moans, pumping his load directly against your cervix, hot sticky ropes of cum spurting from the tip of his cock.
The blood roars in your ears as he grinds down against your hips.
“Just close your eyes, sweetling,” his smoky voice drifts into your ears, “when you wake up you won’t remember a thing.”

♡ Listen to me ♡
❥ TAGS: hurt/comfort, descriptions of symptoms of mental illnesses (hallucinations, paranoia, painful psychosomatic sensations such as suffocation).

Where in this world can two broken souls find their place if not in each other's arms?
Broken heart and shattered mind. The bloody splinters of the fragments of the past are digging deeper into the wounded consciousness with each step, slowly and painfully bringing the already exhausted mind to it's limit. This is probably how others envisioned Blade; but what about you?
Not everyone is lucky enough to be blessed with a clear, sane mind. Mental torment is not exclusive, but it would be foolish to deny that some are less fortunate in that regard than others. Perhaps that's how you and Blade came together - it's not every day you meet someone who can understand and share that pain even the slightest bit. Your road to trust was thorny and difficult: what's it like, trying to connect when both parties are in constant survival mode and won't just open up to anyone? To meet Blade under the influence of mara was to be chased away and away for longer; to meet you while your mental health is acting up was to hear you mumble unintelligibly that he shouldn't see you in such a state.
But even from such a vicious circle, there's always a way out. In the most vulnerable moments, it becomes impossible to cling to pride: with each bandaged wound on the exhausted body, with each hour spent in shared silence, the relationship between you two became more and more trusting. Here it is - a small island of comfort just for the two of you, found in the most unexpected place. Or is it the most expected?
Slowly, by trial and error, an unusual relationship was formed. Without fancy confessions, without loud words - two soulless shells with empty hearts nestled into each other, sharing the last particles of warmth. You and Blade don't even have to reveal your relationship: to anyone who knows anything about you two, the inference will be obvious. It's hard to see Y/N in a sane state of mind, and it's hard to see Blade in a tolerant mood... But somehow it's this tandem that makes it possible and not such a rare occurrence.
However, peaceful days can't last forever.
No matter how hard you try, frustration won't stop accumulating, even if you apply balm to the inflamed soul. Just one drop - the very last one - and the mind slips into all-consuming despair. The heaviness narrows in a tight ring around your thin neck, digging it's barbed wires into the irritated flesh and denying any access to air. As the resinous, viscous panic drips down the parched walls of the throat, mingling with the salty taste of tears, images take over your sight and hearing. Ugly, garish, unrelated to reality - but no less frightening. Fear shackles every of your limb, and all that remains is to be sucked into the dark substance that overflows the skull to the brim. Through such strong pain and illusions, it would seem that nothing can break through until they collapse by themselves - but one voice, so familiar and close, still finds it's way through the dense veil of madness. That voice...
"Listen to me."
It was his voice. Blade was there; he was clutching your curled body in his arms, shielding you like a wall from all inclement weather. Paranoid fear made you want to break free, but knowing what a bone-crushing embrace this man had, you wouldn't have dared such a venture even in your most disturbed state of mind.
"Listen to me."
The soft strokes on your head sent shivers down the length of your spine. Blade wasn't the type to be verbally supportive - he was generally unaware of the impact his words could have. But what he was saying now... He had memorized Kafka's words that would normally free him from the shackles of insanity. He used this memorized words solely for your sake, unaware that they were more effective than any spirit whisper. You knew perfectly well that he was probably saying it more to reassure himself at that moment and not to seem weak in front of you, but the very fact of using them...
"Listen to me."
Your arms hug him back as your nose burrows into the curve between his neck and shoulder. Your eyes bleed tears, falling onto the dark fabric of Blade's coat and leaving wet stains behind, but neither you nor he cares.
"I'm here for you."
Because you have each other. And as long as it stays that way, machinations of two unhealthy minds aren't so terrible.

Hellaverse Headcanons: The Creation Myths of the Hellborn
A while back I was brainstorming with @prof-ramses and at some point or another we discussed the topic of potential background lore that would help to flesh out the mythos of the Hellborn. Well, during our talk I came up with the idea of the various Hellborn species having creation myths regarding how and why their respective Sin created them.
Imps: The imps as a whole have a pretty clear understanding of why their species was created, that being Satan desired a race of loyal servitors that could also double as a scale army. As for how the Sin of Wrath actually created them, the species is divided into two camps on the matter, those being “Scalekin” (imps that believe the species were born from the scales Satan lost during The Fall and the many battles that followed) and the “Rock Folk” (imps that insist Satan carved their forebears from rocks he hand picked from across Wrath’s vast desert). The two groups contentiously debated which interpretation of their species birth is the correct one, which has caused no shortage of conflicts that span well into the present.
Hellhounds: When it comes to matters of their creation, hellhounds unanimously attest that, as creatures of Gluttony, they were born through an act of Gluttony itself. That is to say, hellhounds as whole espouse that the first members of their species were born after Beelzebub undertook a massive eating binge that cut a swath through the Ring of Gluttony. It was after this massive undertaking that, wherever the scraps from Bee’s feast had landed, the ground was “seeded” and from the detritus of the leftovers the first hellhounds would later emerged. As far as the hellhounds can tell, their inception was predominantly a means to allow for Queen Bee to have a pack of her own that she could indulge in Gluttony alongside.
*Harlequins: The original denizens of Greed have a pretty clear understanding of their creation as Mammon has actually divulged it. As the Sin of Greed tells it, he created the Harlequins from skittering insects that naturally propagated across his the Ring of Greed along with a smattering of gold dust to mark them as his chosen people. Because of this clarity regarding their origins, the Harlequins have an acute sense of security in their place in the greater scheme of Hell.
Loan Sharks: Originally having been created by ▇▇▇, the Loan Sharks share a creation myth with the Infestors and instead have numerous myths regarding how they came to reside in Greed and venerate Mammon. While individual accounts vary, the general through line is that the Sin of Greed somehow managed to have conned them away from ▇▇▇’s service or otherwise having won them from their original master through a wager prior to ▇▇▇’s ▇▇▇.
Succubi/Incubi: Much like the imps, the denizens of Lust are split into to two schools of thought regarding the origins of their species. One school teaches that they were quite literally birthed by Asmodeus himself through what they describe as “the ultimate expression of self love”, whereas the other school of thought preaches that the original succubi and incubi were born from the ashes left behind after Asmodeus washed the Ring in “the fires of passion”. Whatever the case, succubi and incubi see themselves as the truest expression of the Sin of Lust’s unbridled passions and deepest lechery.
Infestors: As stated previously, the origins of the infestors is interwoven with that of the loan sharks. The way they tell it, Leviathan and ▇▇▇ gathered a great many materials from across the primordial sea of ice that makes up Envy. From there, the two entered a great dance that stirred the icy waters and collected materials into a fine resin. While half of the resin rose to the surface and became the loan sharks, the remaining half sank into the depths and became the infestors.
Candleheads: As a general rule, the candleheads are in agreement that the origins of their species can be traced all the way back to the chaotic age known as the Founding of Hell. It was during this time that the Rings had not fully formed/solidified and were thus more subject to the whims of the Sins that ruled them. Because of this, it is said that one day as Belphegor laid her head down to rest, she entered a deep and vivid dream, once she awoke, she found that she was surrounded by the first generation of candleheads. Content with their lot in life, the candleheads don’t really question what, if any, greater purpose they were created for.
*Dybukks: Amongst one of the youngest species of hellborn, the dybbuks actually have a recorded date when their species first came into existence. Furthermore, the species as a whole is aware they were created for the purpose of conducting the research and development (as well as the dirtier deeds) undertaken across the Ring, in fact, they are rather proud of the fact.
Other Hellborn: Generally speaking, the other unsorted and unaffiliated Hellborn that populate Hell widely accepted that their species simply came into existence at some point in the past, having been born from the cursed land of Hell itself.
(For context: Harlequins and Dybukks are what @prof-ramses and I call the insectile jesters from Greed and the plague doctors from Sloth respectively. All credit goes to @prof-ramses for coining those names.)

Grey Smoke Curling Up Into The Night Sky
November Prompts
Wc: 972
The last embers of sunlight were long in the dying, casting the dusk in a deep purple glow. Stars blazed white beacons against that canvas of velvety night.
From a hundred smokeholes, trails of smoke billowed into the clear skies. All of Kattegat huddled together around fires eating their supper, bouncing their young ones on their knees and telling tales of the endless Winter of fimbulvetr. Far off in the distance, dark smudges of cloud were looming at the edges of the world, promising to crown the kingdom with snow.
Today the mud had gone hard and packed in the cold. As Ivar’s crutch stabbed hard into the ground, its pointed metal end broke through the crust.
“Stupid thing,” he cursed, forcefully wresting it from the half-frozen ditch it had gotten stuck in. “Not fit for purpose. I cannot wait to burn it,” declared Ivar, turning to me and shrugging with a mocking arch of his brow. “When I get the chance. Maybe right now.”
“A fire’d be welcome,” I said as we both started moving once more, trudging along in the light snow. “That way I can feel my fingers and toes again.”
My gaze drifted to the crutch, half-rotten and cruel looking. He was awaiting a replacement that would prove to boast ease of handling and comfort.
“It could be worse, couldn’t it,” he said, accompanied by a sharp inhale between his teeth. “It could always be worse. We could be this uncomfortable in England.”
I thought it sweet he’d adopted a kind of contempt for the place, as if it would make me feel better about it.
“Although the Winters were milder there,” I said fairly.
“They were,” he agreed, and with a hint of reminiscence in his tone: “Warmer and more bearable.”
Occasionally there were when the silvery beams of moonlight shone down perfectly, and the banks of snow glittered like jewels, but I had suffered too many harsh Winters in my lifetime to truly admire them. Ivar detested the cold himself, seeing as it made his joints ache, a deep pain settling in his bones. Given this, I had even less reason to make peace with it. It was nice to warm up our bodies and act grumpy together, when I had been so solitary before.
A bitter wind rushed past, snapping at us with icy teeth, and his heavy sable cloak flapped wildly around him like a set of raven’s wings. I clung onto his elbow, but only loosely, so as not to hinder our walk, and I could see his breath in ghostly puffs of mist.
“I’m thinking of how my brothers are faring,” he pondered aloud, watching the swirling grey tendrils of woodsmoke and black clouds obscure the stars.
“Nothing will prepare them for you.”
Ivar barked with harsh laughter. “Of course not.”
A ladder of jagged bones hanging from a peasant’s doorway clattered harshly. Eyeing them warily for a moment, he shot me a curious look. “You’ve seen no more from the gods?”
“I would’ve told you if I did,” I said, recalling how labyrinthine my dreams had been lately. Kattegat’s old Seer had been so vague in his riddles that we didn’t lose much by killing him, but there were still times I thought I’d like to plead to him for guidance.
A childish instinct, to be sure, one I hoped to discard. “Perhaps it is a good thing that they are not forthcoming. Victory could almost come as a surprise.”
Ivar scoffed. “Hardly.” It was clear he was mollified.
For once when we strolled by the blacksmith’s, I did not see bright sparks, or hear the shrill ringing of metal. It was the slaughterous song of Ivar’s new weapon—and that was not the only voice raised up in a cry. By day, the hewn of axes chopping wood and the rending of saws joined in a terrible symphony as the great palisades were fortified. A sharp, resinous smell penetrated the air, alongside the nauseous stench of sweat, horseflesh and charred meat. Warriors had arrived in their droves, ready to fight and die in battle, so long as it was promised to be a glorious one.
The bear was in hibernation, and when he emerged from his hiding place he would find a clever trap sprung on him. I had foreseen it, and so it would come to pass.
“I doubt Björn ever thought of me as anything but the useless cripple brother he left behind,” he huffed. “But he’s the one who's probably feeling awful right now. Freezing his ass off somewhere so far away from home, wondering who will warm him tonight.”
A smirk curled on Ivar’s lip as he reached out to lightly tug on a loose strand of my tousled hair. “Why would I ever need to wonder, when I have you?”
How rewarding it always felt to watch him preen like a proud black bird, his dark feathers slick with blood. I smiled coyly at him. “And what is more…”
I’d grown used to the shadows of Ivar’s guards, the flash of White Hair’s cruel grin and crueller blade. I still did not want them listening in, so I drew closer. The stray hairs of his fur cloak tickled my nose as I whispered my odd suggestion in his ear.
Ivar smirked heatedly at me as I came away, his hand grasping hard at my hip. “You are an evil woman.”
My only answer was the slash of a grin.
Then he perked up as the vast ridges of the Great Hall came into view, his eyes bright with wickedness. “Ah,” he announced agerly. “Home sweet home.”
As soon as we were indoors, the men were dismissed and the fire was lit. That night our household joined in with the grey curls of smoke dancing in the heavy sky.

4b. Restless - Dead Letter Society (Emile)
Algonquin Park, March 9, 2024
I was all fired up and ready to investigate when I arrived in Algonquin, proud to have reached the destination before Ava; I thought it would be no problem to uncover some juicy news while talking to the tourists or surveying the area, but I'm feeling too restless, too unfocused to do anything useful.
Lately, my opinions about how great it is to be a vampire are rapidly changing. The old, confident me who just wanted to live as a vampire among humans, without any secrets, is but a fading memory.
I still want to live among mortals, but maybe not as I am right now; I miss being one of them. The main reason why I'm in this mess is my cursed condition; and now I find myself on the run from who knows who or what exactly, framed for inadvertently killing a monster, forced to go no contact with my family to protect both myself and them.
I feel uncharacteristically lonely. Most of my conversations with people these past nights had the hidden goal of seeking company and comfort, rather than investigating.
I met this mortal girl, Daphne, a social media manager who moved to Canada from Greece; after making the mandatory remarks about "oh, do you miss Greece?? I bet the weather is much nicer there!" We chatted about her job. I learned the following:
Social media users have, sadly, a short attention span (I could have guessed that one)
They seek new content all the time, while old content is easily forgotten
When it comes to viral news videos, the best way to make people forget is therefore to give them some new viral video to munch on
If I apply myself and Ava finally gets here and helps me, we could find out the solution to the mystery, which is probably way more interesting than what was going on in the video about me. We'll have to get the media involved somehow.
With that end goal in mind, I keep trying to investigate, but it's hard. These past few nights I've consistently seen the same group of mom friends hanging out at the hotel bar, drinking and laughing. One of their recurring topics - they talk really loudly - is how beneficial yoga and meditation are, how they can't live without the practice anymore, yada yada. All I recall about meditation is that you need to breathe deeply, "find stillness" and be in the present.
I don't know what got into me, but today before sunrise I stepped into the woods out back and I found a big rock just off the trail to sit on.
I tried to meditate.
Since I don't need to breathe, that part is useless to me, but stillness and noticing my surroundings are enough of a mental exercise. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, but when I opened my eyes I noticed something half covered in mud, on the ground next to me: it was a clear resin ring with miniature leaves inside.
For some reason, holding that ring suddenly calmed me. I'm wearing it right now as a necklace, almost as if it was an amulet.
I'm being weird, I know, but so what if my mind is convinced this silly object is special? If it helps clear my mind, so be it. I want to listen, feel, really be here just the way I am.
---
P.S: I just received a threatening letter from the Dead Letter Society. It said "Our dance begins", and attached I found a piece of crimson red paper... and one of my mom's old earrings.
What does it mean? Did they kidnap my parents? What's going on with the DLS?
Perhaps I shouldn't be here, after all. Perhaps I should go back to Montreal, even if it's a trap.
I don't know what to do.

Top Hat Puppy
Gong Jun is looking exceptionally cute in his flowered top hat, all dressed up in a delightfully dapper white suit.
This figure is from the Cosmopolitan November 2022 magazine that just KEEPS ON GIVING. I mentioned in previous posts that every single look in that magazine shoot has at least one fig, and for good reason! I will take ALL the figs of this particular inspiration, please and thank you.

This is a wildly complicated outfit, my goodness. There is so much going on here, from his flowered hat, to the bandana, to the print on the suit. Not to mention his very special Dog artwork on his Hogan shoes!

Our proper little gentleman arrived safely, all snug in his polystyrene mailing box! I was in fact quite worried about this fig traveling - there's a lot of delicate pieces on the hat especially. I've been a bit less cautious with most of my resin figs these days, and trusting in this polystyrene to keep most of them safe. This one, though, I absolutely air column wrapped! Can't take any chances with this cute of a puppy.

Look at him! He's just perfect. Perfect perfect perfect.

Everything on this fig is just incredible. The flowers on the hat, the bandana, all the details on the suit.

You can see why I was worried about those flowers during shipping! From this angle you can also see the Tiffany ring on his finger there.

The tag on his sleeve says "KENZO", the designer of this suit:

Look at the little "Dog" art on the back of his shoes! Such great details.

The print on the bandana is so well done. It's easy for me to forget even myself how small this actually is, since I zoom in so much on the pictures. The bandana is about an inch across and 3/4 of an inch long (2 x 3 cm).

Look at those roses. Just gorgeous, gorgeous fine detail on each one of them.
He stands really well, considering. I would not have thought that with that big top hat and with the hanging bandana, that he would balance at all. He leans back very slightly (from the weight of all of that), so the stretchy fig stickers are slowly getting, well, stretched backwards. I'll probably eventually glue him to a stand, but for now, he's fine.

Amazing there's the bandana print on the inside here too. I could easily expect that they would just have that white to cut down on the complexity.
The roses are just so pretty. It really looks like a wedding outfit, doesn't it?

His eyes have roses in them too. This could not be any prettier of a figure.

It's so pretty that we need to do some more closeups. Here we have more of the roses, and all the detail on the suit. You can even see the three suit buttons on his raised hand. Take a look at the detail on the shoes here too.

I managed to wedge my phone up under his bandana to really zoom in. Here we can get a much better look at the dog drawings on the shoes, and so much great detail on the suit print.

A little bit overexposed, but good enough to get a nice shot of his silver ring and more suit details. We get a good look at his sideswept hair, and this may also be the best shot of the top of his shoes yet. We can also get a great view of the beauty mark on his ear, and much more clearly see the rose in his eyes. It's unfortunate the KENZO logo didn't quite make it totally intact, but it's still plenty clear!
Alright, back to our regularly scheduled bottom and top view...

Because of his bandana, I couldn't quite lay him on his back for the normal bottoms-up angle. Can't see a ton from here. I guess this is still a nice shot to illustrate how well the foot/leg posing matches the inspiration picture. I'm glad the fig maker only had one hand holding the hat though, it's nice to have his other hand down to show off the lines of the suit and of course the ring.

This is a remarkably clean and sharp figure all the way around - no overspray and just beautiful lines.

Love this top hat view! The flowers are just so pretty.

More of that big bright beautiful sunflower. Love it!

The box card is just beautiful as well. One of my all-time favorite figs for sure.
Material: Resin
Fig Count: 438
Scene Count: 30
Rating: Beautiful as a springtime wedding

I remembered to take pictures of my resin puzzle tray today 😊🧩. I also took a picture of my red one from last time and connected it with the one I made yesterday (and unmolded today) so we could see what they look like together 😄. Totally going to make at least 2 more and then we'll go from there.
And continuing from last post, I made less things this time so I wouldn't spread myself too thin, or end up with a bunch of micro-bubbles because I let my resin sit out too long working with it 😅
This was my station this morning ⤵️

So much less, right?
And after demolding it all ⤵️

So much simpler~ I had next to nothing to clean up around the edges, so no deburring or clipping required. I just have those little diamond marine pieces to do something with and the butterfly to add a magnet to 😊
The last set of diamond marine animals I made, I added jump rings to with some UV Resin and back-coated them with a layer of UV Resin as well to seal in the Jump Ring. I'll add a picture of those another time, probably when I finish off these ones as well. I'm still undecided if I want to turn them into pendants, or earrings, or charms, or keychains, or all of the above, lol.
Choosing the jump ring + the UV Resin as the attachment was the best choice, imo, because it's barely visible. Unlike drilling a hole and adding a jump ring/pinch bail or adhering a bail to the back in some fashion. You'd see any of those things through the transparent resin that I specifically chose for those diamond facets to gleam and sparkle.
That being said, I likely will be drilling a hole + adding a pinch bail at some point though 🙃. It's one of my favorite types of jewelry hardware. To use and I think it looks aesthetically pleasing. But that's a personal opinion and bias.
So, the puzzle pieces! Here's the red one from before and the new blue-teal one. ⤵️

I love yin yangs- and I have a thing for black & white themes. Even more than black & white themes, I love mixing 1 or 2 colors in with black & white. I think it looks clean, elegant, and makes that 1 or 2 colors pop and stand out.
With decor or art, I think this is especially true. I'm already planning to do my 4-piece puzzle set in (black & white +) red, blue, purple, and last color in either green or yellow (undecided). I added in the clear + a gold/silver flake because similar to the black & white (yin yang theme), I think that adds a bit of simple elegance (and I have stacks of the gold/silver/rose gold/copper foil papers that I've been dying to use more lol).
[Again, I know these are all personal opinions and biases 😅. Some people like hecka glitter, rhinestones, stencils + acrylics, stamping, blooms, shakers, candle holders + candles, polymer clay, stickers, etc. We all have our love-to-do, likes & dislikes.]
Here's the puzzle trays together and with my other resin pieces inside for size comparison ⤵️

They're a mid-size tray. Not too big, not too small.
I made another tray also. It's a moon + star one I found on a website similar to Temu (I know Temu is very popular). This website pre-dates Temu and I learned of it back when I was working as a Certified Beading Instructor (which was years ago, lol).
I'd link to the tray but unfortunately they don't have a built-in link shortener and I don't know if Google's link shortener would work long-term for this site? It's Aliexpress, if anyone wants to search for it themselves (says 4 left in stock as I'm writing this post, and it's called "Moon Star Tray Silicone Resin Mold").

I originally bought this tray thinking it'd be amazing for ResinCrete, and it will be! But I wanted to see what it'd look like in Epoxy first, so here it is! 😄🌙⭐
And I forget how much this took... I want to say around 300ml?
Originally I poured my left over resin in it, which was a little less than 160ml. I then added another 100ml which wasn't enough 😅. So, I mixed up another 100ml and that was way too much.
With that 100ml (that ended up being too much) I finished off the tray, added pigment to the left over resin and then poured the butterfly, the diamond octopus + the scallop shells 🙃 (it's possible I'm very wrong on this but I'm still going to go with 300ml for that tray).
Speaking of the butterfly ⤵️

It got a bunch of micro-bubbles 🫠. I think it's because I mixed in pigment and the mold has a very small opening so the bubbles couldn't rise and release the same way they could like in my diamond marine animal one (because those have no bubbles and it's the same resin/mixture/timing/everything).
But it's okay, it's a water ripple butterfly 🦋. Water = bubbles 🫧

Unlock Sparkling Potential with Custom Synthetic Gemstones That Shine
Every iconic piece of jewelry starts with a bold idea—and a stone that can handle the spotlight. In a world obsessed with clean sparkle and ethical sourcing, synthetic gemstones are flipping the script on traditional bling. These stones don’t just play back up; they steal the show with crystal-clear brilliance, incredible durability, and a kaleidoscope of color options. From high-stakes fashion to everyday accessories, they're rewriting the rules—without burning a hole in the planet or the pocket.
Why Glass Gemstone Is the Secret Ingredient
Meet the quiet champion of the sparkle world: the glass gemstone. It doesn’t demand diamond drama but knows how to pull focus when it matters. With continued cuts and a mindset that calls “pick me,” this gem fits seamlessly into every aesthetic—be it luxe, lowkey, or downright artsy. Innovators love it for its adaptability, wholesalers for its surface, and crafters for its rainbow-like palette. Basically, it's the gem that gets it—flashy when needed, humble when not.
Made for Makers, Built to Scale
Designing hundreds of the same ring? Creating one-of-a-kind statement earrings for a boutique launch? Either way, consistency is king—and synthetic gemstones rule that kingdom. Industrial precision meets artistic flair in every calibrated stone. These aren't your grandmother’s mystery rocks; they’re high-spec, quality-controlled, and crafted to keep your entire collection flawless. From fashion houses to indie labels, when mass quality matters, you want stones that behave, sparkle, and turn heads—without a single diva meltdown.
Your Vision, Your Rules, Your Gem
Let’s be honest: the fun starts when the stone isn’t off the rack. Need a custom color? Want a freakishly specific cut? In this business, custom means control—and you get a front-row seat. Whether it’s an exact shade to match your brand or a shape that doesn’t even exist on standard charts, the right manufacturer makes it happen. Flexibility in synthetic gemstone production isn’t extra—it’s the whole point. Because one-size-fits-all never worked in couture.
Cubic Zirconia Gemstone: The Drama-Free Diva
Now, entering the chat: the cubic zirconia gemstone. Perfectly polished, unapologetically radiant, and always red carpet ready. It doesn’t care about heritage—it’s here to sparkle smarter, not harder. Jewelry designers and gem enthusiasts love its fiery brilliance and diamond-adjacent allure without the mining mess. It’s a go-to for teaching, designing, crafting, and full-on glamifying. Best of all? It doesn’t judge your budget, your style, or your supply chain. It simply shines. Loudly.
Serving Global Realness with Local Vibes
Today’s gemstone buyers want it all: quick turnaround, consistent sparkle, and no-nonsense service. Whether running an e-commerce store in Berlin, sourcing for bridal sets in Lagos, or crafting resin rings in Kansas, the right supplier makes the global feel personal. Reliable shipping, responsive communication, and scalable production? That’s not wishful thinking—it’s good business. And synthetic stones? They’re built for exactly that: high fashion or handmade, everywhere and anywhere.
Conclusion
When creative freedom, global reach, and ethical sparkle come together, synthetic gemstones lead the charge. They offer precision, variety, and that rare ability to shine across industries—from handmade crafts to commercial jewelry lines. At the heart of this brilliance is cubiczirconiagem.com, offering high-quality synthetic options, bulk customization, and partner-focused service that keeps things easy, smooth, and undeniably shiny. For brands and creators alike, the future of sparkle has never looked brighter—or more brilliantly fake, in all the right ways.

Public Service Announcement: Epoxy Resins
Epoxy resin, widely used in crafts, is typically a two-part thermosetting polymer made from:
1. Epoxy (Part A) – usually bisphenol-A diglycidyl ether (DGEBA) or similar variants. This is the resin base.
2. Hardener (Part B) – commonly a polyamine or anhydride curing agent.
Chemical Breakdown:
• DGEBA (resin): Full name: Bisphenol-A diglycidyl ether. Formula: C₂₁H₂₄O₄. It’s a viscous liquid containing epoxide functional groups that react with the hardener.
• Polyamine (hardener): These are compounds with multiple amine groups (–NH₂), such as triethylenetetramine (TETA). They initiate the crosslinking reaction by opening the epoxide rings in DGEBA, forming a solid 3D network.
The Curing Reaction: is an exothermic reaction (releases heat) that leads to a hardened, durable plastic-like material. Once cured, epoxy resin is chemically resistant, clear (or tinted), and very strong—ideal for jewelry, river tables, coating art, etc.
Is Epoxy Resin Sustainable or Biodegradable?
No, traditional epoxy resin is not biodegradable, and it’s not considered sustainable.
Why not?
• Epoxy resins, especially those made from bisphenol-A (BPA), are petrochemical-based.
• After curing, the material forms a highly crosslinked polymer network, which is extremely durable and resistant to natural degradation.
• Microorganisms can’t break it down like they can with natural polymers (e.g. cellulose or starch).
How Long Does It Last?
• In the environment, epoxy resin could persist for hundreds of years, depending on conditions.
• It does not degrade under normal composting or landfill conditions.
How you can help:
Do not buy products (art, craft) made of Epoxy Resins.
If you have that kind of influence, call for a total ban on non-essential Epoxy Resin based products.
Spread the word!! Often, artists jump on a trend to make quick money or copy someone else if they’ve created something pretty without thinking about the sustainability aspect.
Ask agencies like Fridays for Future and Greenpeace to support such grassroots initiatives too.

Whether you want to honor a lost loved one, celebrate a relationship, or keep a favorite memory with you at all times, customized jewelry offers a unique way to do so.
Types of Custom Photo Jewelry
1. Custom Photo Lockets
Lockets have been a classic choice for keeping photos inside jewelry. Modern lockets come with space for one or more images and can also include engraved messages.
2. Engraved Photo Necklaces
These pendants use advanced engraving technology to create a permanent image on metal surfaces. They are durable and elegant, making them a great choice for daily wear.
3. Personalized Photo Bracelets
Photo charm bracelets allow you to showcase multiple images on different charms. They are ideal for representing family members, pets, or important life events.
4. Custom Rings with Photos
For those who prefer subtle yet meaningful jewelry, rings with embedded images are a stylish option. The images are often sealed with resin or glass for protection.
5. Photo Keychains and Accessories
Beyond traditional jewelry, custom photo keychains are a practical way to carry a cherished image wherever you go.
The Process of Creating Custom Photo Jewelry
1. Choosing the Right Photo
Select a high-resolution image that is clear and detailed. A well-lit photo with a good contrast will result in the best final product.
2. Selecting the Jewelry Type
Decide whether you prefer a locket, pendant, bracelet, or another form of jewelry. The chosen type should match your personal style and how often you plan to wear it.
3. Personalization Options
Many jewelers offer engraving, color enhancement, and additional embellishments like birthstones or initials to make the piece even more special.
4. Finalizing the Design
After selecting customization details, the jeweler will craft the piece using high-quality materials such as sterling silver, gold, or stainless steel to ensure longevity.
Best Occasions for Custom Photo Jewelry
1. Weddings and Anniversaries
A pendant with a wedding photo or an engraved image of a couple is a thoughtful gift that symbolizes love and commitment.
2. Birthdays
Personalized custom photo jewelry makes a unique birthday present, offering a sentimental alternative to traditional gifts.
3. Mother’s Day & Father’s Day
Parents appreciate meaningful gifts, and a customized photo piece featuring family portraits or childhood pictures makes an excellent choice.
4. Memorial Keepsakes
Losing a loved one is difficult, but a custom jewelry piece with their image can provide comfort and a lasting tribute.
5. Graduation and Achievements
Celebrate milestones with a custom photo bracelet or necklace that marks an important achievement.
Caring for Your Custom Photo Jewelry
1. Keep It Dry
Avoid exposing your jewelry to water and chemicals, as moisture can affect the image quality and metal finish.
2. Clean Gently
Use a soft cloth to wipe the jewelry and prevent scratches or fading.
3. Store Properly
Keep your custom photo jewelry in a jewelry box or soft pouch when not in use to maintain its beauty.
Conclusion
Customizing photo jewelry adds a personal and emotional touch to accessories, making them more than just decorative pieces. Whether for yourself or as a heartfelt gift, custom photo jewelry is a beautiful way to preserve life’s most treasured moments.
