Phanfic Finder Fest!

I had so much fun searching for these fics and finding some fantastic new ones! I also made a post with more of the wonderful fics I found along the way, if you want to dig a little deeper into some of these categories.

Motion Sickness: Cicadas (G, 703) by @wlwdjh: This fic was just jam packed with amazing details that did an incredible job setting the mood of the restless summer night on the road, as well as a beautiful dynamic between Dan and Phil.

Fic w/ less than 5 comments: witness (G, 818) @velvetnautilus: I am an absolute sucker for Thoughts on Coming Out and this fic delivered so many amazing ones. Dan’s journey through different styles and emotions in his coming out videos (filmed but not released) is fantastic, and the bit with Phil at the end was just such a lovely and genuine conclusion.

Dancing at a club: inhibitions (E, 2.3k) by @capriciouscrab: There was a lot of variation in the club fics I looked at, but I absolutely loved this take on a bold, club loving Dan and a nerdy with hidden depths Phil. This fic has everything you could ever need in a dnp clubbing fic: dancing, nipple piercings, specific drink choices, exhibitionism, and fantastic and very creative use of sociology/research jargon.

Watching porn: I was torn so I’m reccing two, both of which hooked me with the intimacy they built through porn watching. our bodies (they will collide) (E, 1.4k) by Loafer_btw: this fic creates a really beautiful dynamic between the two of them, and is a realistic and wonderfully written look at the different ways to be intimate with a partner. We Love Katamari! (E, 2.4 k) by hiddenbloom: this fic does a fantastic job of depicting Dan being super supportive of Phil exploring a new kink and the way that can be a great experience for both of them, even if it’s not something they’re both super into.

Sexting: Kentucky Roads (M, 2.2k) by @howellesterfics: This fic sets the tour bus scene up wonderfully and is simultaneously hot and hilarious, with fantastic dialogue (text?) between the two of them.

Set in 2017: Gotta Count for Something (T, 3.5k) by @yikesola: I love the way this fic looks back on 2017 with the added insight we got in 2018. It’s beautifully written, a little bit heartbreaking, and a lot bit wonderfully and hopefully honest. Genuinely just such a lovely and moving piece of writing.

Friends with benefits: There’s a lot of factastic FWB fic out there, a lot of which I’ve read, and I think a lot of great rec lists as well. I wound up picking Fog (M, 3k) by @intoapuddle because it’s not the central focus of the fic, but adds to it beautifully. This fic is wonderfully open and emotional, and explores a rough time in Dan’s life, complicated but inevitably made better (hopefully) by an undefined relationship with Phil.

Date night: Questionable (E, 1.8k) by @allthephils: This fic is so fun and funny and features a fantastic drunk Phil, a fantastic panicking Phil, Dan who hates the NRA and also has some emotional shit to work out, a very patient bartender, and some dates gone wrong and then very right.

Dan interacting with Kath: I absolutely love fics with the Lesters and especially Kath/Dan interactions, and changes (turn and face the strange) (T, 4k) by @timeturnered had everything that I love in a Dan/Kath fic, plus a few extra things I never knew I wanted to love. This fic is from Kath’s POV and follows Phil throughout the years as Kath realizes there are somethings she didn’t know about her son, and finally ends with a really lovely scene where Kath and Dan share one of Kath and Phil’s mother/son traditions. As I said in my comment, reading this feels like getting a big hug from Kath.

Breakup: So I never read breakup fics, because I have a delicate baby heart that can’t handle the pain. If you also have a delicate baby heart, so tired of love songs, tired of love (T, 4.1k) by @tobieallison is a lovely, warm fic in which (a gender-swapped) Dan is dumped by another person, and then meets (a gender-swapped) Phil. The fic balances the pain of Dan’s recent heartbreak with the hope of her encounter with Phil in a really lovely way. If you’re made of tougher stuff, or decide you want to branch out and make yourself sad, give my mind won’t stop (NR, 818) a try (also by tobieallison). Part of what drew me to try this fic was that it was written for the prompt ‘fic you're afraid to write’ because I felt like we’re on equally uneven footing in this. Having said that, this fic was intriguing and beautifully written and I’m glad I gave it a chance.

Forever Frozen Still by @agingphangirl: Phil is a wedding photographer, capturing the beauty of people's weddings day after day even if it's beginning to wear a little thin. Then he meets Dan, a cynical and irritating wedding planner who doesn't believe in love and finally, he finds something that inspires him.

thoughts: i read this while i had my coffee in bed this morning and it was so good i kept forgetting to drink my coffee. it’s literally why i was inspired to make this list right this second

Sea Glass (bonus scene) by @knlalla: Pearlescent (one year later)

thoughts: definitely read sea glass first if you haven’t (it’s amazing). maybe i’m biased because i beta’d this scene, but it’s a wonderful addition to the fic and it made me so happy

No Place That Far by @howellesterfics: Phil is away at his family’s house, and his old bedroom makes him reminisce on old times. A phone call with Dan is all he needs to allow those nostalgic thoughts to bloom into new antics, including some sneaky, tipsy phone sex.

thoughts: i reread this when i opened it to get the link and it was just as good the third time around

Kentucky Roads by @howellesterfics: smutty tour bus fic. it’s 3 am and dan is unreasonably turned on. featuring some light sexting

thoughts: i loved the throwback to ii touring, it’ll always be a soft spot for me. and there’s something amazing about the idea of them sexting while they are like 5 feet apart.

Of fucking course by @dnptrqsh: Dan's just recently came to terms with his bisexuality, and with this realization comes some new fantasies he wasn't prepared for. Luckily, he has just enough time to really enjoy his shower before Phil wakes up. Maybe it'll help him understand himself just that much more.

thoughts: i adore that kira totally came out of the gate strong with great smut for her first phanfic lol. i appreciate that it’s both smut and has more to it, and also the whole premise and *ahem* phil part was great

up & waiting by @ordanary: it’s three a.m. and dan’s alone and waiting for a phone call from phil.

thoughts: this is short and sweet and i can so perfectly see it happening

as if the earth's reserved for you and i by elegance: Dan and Phil visit the Sky Bar in Manchester during their first in-person meeting, where they further realize the depth of their feelings and make the most of their time together.

thoughts: god i’m such a sucker for 2009, it’s no secret at this point. this one was so well done, and i loved it. i wish they had linked a tumblr a tumblr so i could tag them lol

halfway to somewhere by @confusednp: On a quiet night in, Phil thinks back on how lucky he is (aided by his favorite substance).

thoughts: for someone who doesn’t smoke a lot of weed, i sure do love fics where they are high lol. this one is so pleasantly introspective and i particularly love the last couple of lines and even if you’re not into weed i think you’d like it.

About Reposted Fics

So recently I was on Wattpad where I came across a profile who had posted a bunch of pretty good phanfics from tumblr and Ao3 without credits to the authors or permission so I thought I go on a little spree and find the authors and let them know their fics are copied elsewhere without their permission and some are even downright plagiarized word to word and some with credit to author but messed with because the reposter was not satisfied with the writer’s original version.

So here’s the list under the cut.

First off Phan Fluff by dandeliondjh. This person has over 50 reposted fics without credit or even original titles. I tried to trace as many authors as I could from this list but I couldn’t find all. The second one was A Map Of My Mind And Heart originally by cadensaurus on Ao3 reposted by boredphangirl123 on wattpad and also edited a bit to add more “phan action”

The third one I found was Dinner And A Show by phan-tasising reposted by secxlover on wattpad under the series- Phanfiction without credit. Idk about the other ones in the series, but I definitely have read this one and knew it was reposted.

The sad thing is, so many authors from this list have left the phandom but have still left their work up under their old tumblr or an orphaned account on Ao3, so I don’t know why people would have to repost it. If you like it so much, simply compile a list and post it somewhere than copy it and repost it without credit or change it to your liking. And these have so many reads and comments, it saddens me that the original author doesn’t get these nice comments. So yeah report these fics if you guys can to take them down and support the original author.

Also another thing is- Usually reposted fics are posted under things like collection of Phan One-shots or Phan fluff or Phan smut. So if you find any alert the original author.

So yeah that’s it. I’m sorry if someone’s hurt that I called them out in this post but I’ve been hurt by reposting my work before and it’s not fair to the original writer.
