I spent exactly one week doing nothing. And by nothing I mean nothing for university.

A week ago I rushed to my university to grab some books for the holidays (a great collection of books for my presentation, books about art history and books I want to read to chat with my lecturer about ) and ever since I‘ve been just sleeping and eating and I spent so much time watching movies - around 4 a day! Which is quite a lot - especially if you should be studying instead.

But enough is enough and I have to go back to a fixed routine ( right now I tend to fall asleep at around 5am and I wake up past 1pm ) and I have to start studying again! University starts on the 7th and my to-do list is endless!

It’s been so long since I’ve uploaded anything my gosh. Since today is 19 Years Later from Harry Potter, I decided to turn to translating the first few paragraphs of the chapter into French. I’ve got no idea how I did but I’m gonna check it against the French version to see!

I also created a monthly plan in an attempt to motivate me through this last month before uni starts again! I’m off to France in just over a week to do some teaching in a school which is actually quite scary but it’ll be good practice for my year abroad!

The House Cup is now closed!

This is my slightly (completely) crazy looking mind map/summary/brain dump for my Global Jazz paper, which I got an A+ for! 

I separated topics out by readings.  This is not the way I study for every paper, but this paper doesn’t have typical lectures. Instead, we prepare the readings in advance for discussing them the next week.  Each member of the course will lead one seminar during the course at some point (you get marks for this). There are assigned listenings as well.  I found this way of summing up enabled me to see connections, and pull out the most important points from discussions and readings.  Our professor designs the test so that everyone is pushed for time, so I only missed one mark from the essay section (question was given early, but you couldn’t take notes in), and the remaining 9 missed marks were because I ran out of time in the short answer questions.  

I have just finished my annotated bibliography for the final project of this course, so I am now heading home, as I have to be at work at 6:20am tomorrow (it’s now 9:30pm) and it is a 40 minute walk down the hill.

February is looking kind of crazy 😓😅😓😅😓😅 but I can handle it! 18 credit hours this semester and I am (finally) done setting up my spreadsheet with all of my due dates and readings from the syllabuses all in a pretty organized way. Each of the big assignments are color coded so I know which class it’s for and they can stand out against the readings. Also, this spreadsheet in 90 rows long and going to get longer 😱. How are you guys making sure you stay on top of due dates this semester?

1/100 days of productivity March 28, 2017

After a productive day I finally retreated to my bed to continue reading this gem and have some snacks. I managed to get everything done I wanted to and even do more. I did my workout this morning, I cleaned my room and I started to copy all my old history notes to study with them for my final history exam in May which could cover anything from Napoleon to current events so I better be completely on my game for that

Point submissions

Hello everyone!

Now that this Cup is over and the new one begins, we Prefects have been talking about how we could make the point submission system easier for you and for us. In the end, we’ve agreed on some guidelines that apply from now on. It all basically comes down to two things:

Each submission can contain only 1 day’s worth of points. We will do the maths, but if you want to know how much something counts, here you can find more info (scroll down after the current Cup points).

You can submit points for past days with two conditions: you can only submit up to a week prior to the day you send the form; and you have to send one submission for each missed day.

We know that life gets in the way and there are days where we can’t log in, or are so tired from studying that we need to rest instead of filling forms, and that’s okay! We think a week is a wide enough margin, that also helps us Prefects keep on top of things and keep the points updated in time. Having it day by day also helps us keep on track.

Just so there’s no confusion, the form hasn’t changed, so keep those submissions coming!

gryffindor: class president, has a messy desk but they know right where everything is, forgets about tests but aces them anyway, prefers to study in the garden.

slytherin: keeps their perfectly color-coded planner on them at all times, has been wearing their dream school's t shirt since preschool, keeps their desk (and their life) neat at all times, debate team captain.

ravenclaw: is on a first-name basis with the librarians, has the most detailed and beautiful notes, reminds the teacher about homework, has a great bullet journal.

Swedish vocab lists

I keep seeing people making vocab lists for people trying to learn a new language and I think it seems like a great thing. So would anyone care for vocab lists in Swedish?
