How to stay focused
The most difficult thing i face when studying is staying focused , so:
here’s a study tip to stay focused during a study session that personally really helped me!
1) Get into a flow state
I find it really hard to concentrate, but when I get into a flow state, I can clear out my tasks faster than ever before. To get into a flow state, you can:
Do the hardest thing first to gain momentum
Set up an optimal environment with no distractions
silence your notifications
only have things you need for that particular study session
Tell your family and friends not to disturb you
put a glass of water besides you
listen to music that sets the optimal mood for you
( this one is particularly important. I see many people saying to listen to music with no lyrics , but I think you should listen to whatever gets you into the studying mood. For example, at night, I prefer to listen to rap and rock as they help me focus way more than lofi, which I listen to while studying in the day.)
3. Have clear goals
Here are some guiding questions:
What will make me feel happy if I finish it by the end of the study session? —> What do I need to do to finish it?
How long will it take to finish?
Specifically, what topics do I want to cover?
Specifically, what pages do I want to do?
What methods will I use to study this?
The end.
I hope this study tip helped you! Feel free to ask for specific tips 💗

It seems no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to keep up with my study blog lol. This year has really been hectic and honestly I didn’t feel worthy of having a study blog since I was struggling so much to keep with school. So in an attempt to find people going through the same thing as me, I wanna share how miserably I’m failing at school.
This school year has been really tough and a drastic change from what I’ve been used to. This year I’ve been studying to prepare for my Western Australian ATAR exam, a programme I have NO knowledge on. My entire life I’ve been studying under the British programme. I honestly didn’t think I would have this much trouble, but even though I’m studying more than I ever had my entire life, I’m struggling so much to do well in tests and assignments. I’ve gone from getting straight As to barely getting a single B, and I really don’t know how to go about changing that, with only two months before i have to sit for my ATAR exams. At this point I just want the school year to be over.
The worst part for me is that people still think I’m “smart” when I’m not and I feel like I’ve failed.

A Guide to Planning Systems
It's important to have a system of getting things done, whether it's tackling tasks as the day progresses or having a carefully planned schedule for every single hour of the week. How can you create an effective personal planning system that suits your needs and preferences?

N.B. some categories include a few examples but they are no means limited to the ones listed here, e.g. there may be methods of organizing tasks other than the five listed here.

So I’ve listed out a couple study tips that have personally been useful to me over the years. Things like these are personal, things that work for me may not work for you and that’s okay!! Please don’t try to adopt a method or tip that doesn’t work for you just for the aesthetics (me and mindmaps).
Two notebook method
This really changed my note taking game. What this method essentially is, is you take two notebooks. Designate one of them to be your school notebook and keep the other one at home. At school, as your teacher speaks, make quick, hurried notes in the school notebook and write questions in the margins, just make these as detailed as you want them and don’t worry too much about colours and aesthetics. Then, at home, open up the school notebook alongside any study materials like printouts or a textbook, and start making cleaner, more organized notes. In the second notebook, you can add in points you might have missed from the textbook as well as use different colours. Usually, trying to make neat notes at school doesn’t end well, because we often don’t have the time to switch out pens.
Post-It Notes everywhere
If there’s ever information I need to memorize instead of learn, I just put it on a vivid post it note and stick it on the wall opposite my bed. What this does, is it makes me see the post it every single morning and night as well as multiple times in between, thus, I remember the information. During exam season, my entire wall is covered with post its and it’s extremely helpful. You can also post them on a mirror, in the dining room and next to your television!
Colour coding chapters
This is a life saver. What you do, is you designate a colour specifically for a chapter. For example, if I was making notes for Law of Demand and Law Of Supply, I’d use a separate colour pen to write both. The body of my notes are always black, but the highlighter and the terminology I often write in a different colour will differentiate the chapters. During an exam, you can try to remember the colour of the notes pertaining to the chapter. This is really helpful for those individuals who have issues memorizing!
Write write write
Instead of reading over and over again, try to write the information a few times. This is far more effective. If possible, write in different colours too!
Reading text thrice
What you do is read the entire chapter once with nothing in your hand, no pen, no highlighter. Then, afterwards, you read it again, but this time with a highlighter or anything you use to take out key points. The third time you read just the main highlighted points and make short summaries on paragraphs (2-4 lines per summary) and then when you go to write your notes out, you can stick to the summaries. It seems excessive, but it’s more effective for me than just reading once.
