My thoughts on Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle
⚠️ Warning: Spoilers for the film (and portions of the manga) ahead!
Two days ago, I went to see Haikyuu: The Dumpster Battle. I've been a fan of this series since 2015, and I started the manga within a month of the anime. So going to this film was a huge deal for me. (The only other time I've experienced a HQ screening was at the 2018 Crunchyroll convention!) It was awesome being at the theater with fellow fans wearing jerseys of our favorite teams, all excited to see our boys on the big screen. 🥰❤️
I absolutely LOVED how the film began, showing us Kenma and Hinata's first meeting but in a different way than in season 1, with the cat and crow staring each other down, and Kuroo overhearing their conversation from nearby. It really set the mood, especially with the incredible score (honestly the soundtrack is one of my favorite aspects of the movie).
However, I was upset that they left out the backstory of Nekomata and Ukai Sr. These flashbacks are so important to give the rivalry context and depth. The fact that these two characters met in middle school, and then had this battle decades later as elders, was so impactful. Not showing the history of their relationship affected the film's emotional impact. In my opinion, THIS was the biggest flaw in the script.
While we're on the negatives: I do think the film relied a lot on prior knowledge of the story. Which is to be expected, it's basically the 5th season of a show, but I don't think even casual fans would be able to keep up with how many characters and plot points quickly came and went. I recall being perplexed at certain things they chose to keep in, some of which were fun, but not necessary and just muddled the viewing experience.
Also: the subtitles. I've always had a beef with how Crunchyroll does subs. Not the translators themselves (I LOVE YOU GUYS YOU'RE AMAZING) but how they place the text. It was hard to distinguish between the primary and secondary dialogue. They were often stacked onto each other, with the barest hint of italics to differentiate. Honestly, while some background dialogue was great, I would've rather gone without to avoid confusion.
There were some other weakness, like the pacing and important character moments they cut. Obviously, as a MASSIVE fan, I would want everything to be adapted fully and perfectly. But that was never going to happen with a 1.5 hour film. 🤷‍♀️ The screenwriters did a really impressive job considering what they were tasked with accomplishing. Major kudos to them!
Now, on to the things I loved about the movie:
The animation. Gods, the animation was fantastic, such a breath of fresh air after season 4. I could tell how much care the artists put into this project. Some scenes literally had me speechless, sitting there frozen with my mouth hanging open. The final rally was animated ENTIRELY in Kenma's POV. The music faded out; you could here his heavy breathing and the team calling to each other. It made you feel like you were on the court. I've never seen anything like it before.
I mentioned the score earlier, but special shout out to the musicians, composers, and everyone involved in the soundtrack. 👏 I literally had goosebumps multiple times. And having a track by SPYAIR playing during the end credits gave me so much fuzzy nostalgia!
The voice acting was amazing. Kenma's actor, Yuki Kaji, absolutely hit it out of the park. He's always been one of my faves from the cast, but he went above and beyond in this film. But everyone did, really. It was so important for me to see the Japanese version FIRST to hear this wonderful cast who I've been following for the past 9 years.
Kuroo Testsuro. Good lord, did I come out of the theater having fallen completely in love with Kuroo. 😍❤️ His character is just SO GOOD, full of passion and love for his friends and the sport itself. I think the movie really highlighted this. (And it made me so emotional, knowing where he ended up in the future!)
BOKUTO AND AKAASHI. Thank you, movie team for letting them have their cute little moments. Especially the one with Yachi. I love these two so much. I'm very scared that their biggest arc, aka the Mujinazaka match, won't be animated. But I'm so grateful we got them in this film.
The after credits scene. REMEMBER TO STAY AFTER THE FIRST CREDITS YOU GUYS! They included the hilarious exchange between Kuroo and Daishou after the match, which was a really fun way to end things. 😆 Mika's little "You ready?" to her silly snake boyfriend was perfect. It made me giggle.
Okay, those are my initial thoughts! If I see the film again I might update this. For now, let me just say I really enjoyed it overall and it was such a special experience seeing these beloved characters on the silver screen. I still mourn the loss of a 5th season, and I'm nervous about what will be cut from the final movie... but that's future Mari's problem... 😅
Thanks for reading! 💕

why did you make that post ragging on that person’s reblogs here but you were so nice to them on main? that’s pretty rude… saying “no offense” doesn’t make it less mean. honestly you’re kind of a mean girl and a bully. and always so obsessed with other peoples blog posts, what social sites is it ok to dictate what your followers have to have on their own blogs? i’ve followed you for a while but it’s time to unfollow.
your whole “it takes nothing to reblog” attitude is interesting, considering it also takes nothing to be kind. or bare minimum, not a jerk. i have no idea why when there are so many content creators on this site that anyone chooses to support someone with such a poor attitude like yourself.
I’ll copy and paste this here since you thought you’d send me two separate asks about the same topic for some reason and I’ve already replied to you?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr was made to be a social app, for people to interact with each other and reblog posts in order to do so. That’s why there’s so many options to add responses to posts, to add tags and even send asks.
I have an ao3 and anyone is more than welcome to read my fics over there without leaving a comment, kudos or bookmark— like the huge majority do.
But on here it makes me uncomfortable to have so many blank/empty/plain blogs following me with absolutely no fandom content reblogged whatsoever or only generic posts/responses. Especially since two of the times I’ve been plagiarised it was by either a blank blog following me on here, it a k-pop blog who didn’t reblog anime content stealing my shit. So I’m sorry I don’t want them following me.
And the post you’re talking about in question, I was nice because I know that a lot of people still don’t understand the importance of reblogging your faves. Even though artists and writers go on and on and on about it, what’s the point of being mean? I only posted that response AFTER she replied to me saying that she didn’t understand the point of reblogging fanart or fanfic… even though she reblogs literal nonsense posts. That’s the part that really got me.
If you don’t like how I run my blog, or what I block people for why are you here? There’s literally thousands of people on tumblr you could follow, or like you said use ao3?
It’s the fact that I know you have never left an artist or a writer a comment this long on any of their content before, but you chose to be brave and click that anon button to send me a long essay about me being a horrible person.
The response is always “you’re so weird” and never, “let me go and tell my favourite author thank you for making my day better”.
I’m sorry that I blocked you for not supporting artists/writers, but I don’t regret it. It’s a pretty pathetic mindset to have that an artists work isn’t worth a free reblog that could actually make their day.
“I have no idea why when there are so many content creators on this site that anyone chooses to support someone with such a poor attitude like yourself”
That’s the point though, they’re not supporting anyone. I’m not telling people to reblog my fics or leave comments, I’m just telling them to support someone, anyone. Literally doesn’t even have to be fic either, support your favourite artists? But so many people continue to just blindly like fics when they’re done without so much as a thought for the writer, because they can just scroll down to the next one.
And you might think I’m a horrible person or whatever, but at least I’ve never left anyone a mean anon!

answer your 30 questions please and thank you!!!
WOO. HERE WE GO, YA'LL:
ao3 wrapped [writers edition]
How many words have you written this year? Published? 22,685. Unpublished? A loooooot ahaha.
How many works did you publish this year? Currently, 3. Hoping to have 4-5 by christmas though. 👀
What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)? definitely cause i'm lovesick. That thing was a labor of love. My first fanfic baby in a loooong time.
What work of yours has the most hits? currently cause i'm lovesick (I ain't even ashamed), which is at 735 hits. But it's kind of biased, considering I only came back to fic writing in like october.
What work of yours got more feedback than you expected? nothing in particular - I'm just happy to have any engagement!
Favorite title you used honestly, no favorite as of yet. All the titles I've used come from song lyrics that are super royai coded/important to me, so I like them all. That answer could definitely change in the future though!
If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most? most recently, taylor swift (hopeless, breathless, burning slow), but also banks (cause i'm lovesick and you're all that matters to me anyway - she's SO GOOD for angsty love songs). Lyrics are so, so important to me. I have a ~300 song royai playlist (which I'm going to slim down and post here at some point) that I listen to constantly, lol, and a huge notes file on my phone filled with potential song lyric titles. I have a music degree and it's literally so important to my writing process aajsaksjljasjl.
Pairing you wrote the most for this year? Royai. lol. That's not going to change any time soon. The extreme hyperfixation is REAL.
Favorite pairing you wrote for this year? Again royai. They're the best. My babies. 💖
What work was the quickest to write? Surprising, chapter 2 of hopeless, breathless, burning slow. started it last night and i'm already nearly done the first draft. That thing flew out of me, especially considering chapter 1 was much more of a journey lol.
What work took you the longest to write? definitely chapter 1 of hopeless, breathless, burning slow. it wasn't the writing that was the issue - it was the editing. I really dragged my feet on it, and could have had that thing out like 2 weeks ago. 🤦‍♀️
How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year? oh god. my wip's currently include: - chapter 2 of hopeless, breathless, burning slow - sequel to cause i'm lovesick (I ain't even ashamed) - a christmas fic - angsty, hurt/comfort, character exploration, ishval restoration multi-chaptered fic (I'm REALLY excited to work on this!!! yay angst) - roy and riza returning to her old father's house post-cannon and STUFF HAPPENS, fluff, hurt/comfort, etc (also really excited for this one! i've been daydreaming about it for MONTHS. Even just thinking about this fic feels like sinking into a warm bath. That's the vibes I want it to give) - ANOTHER post-promised day fic, because I'm a broken record, but this time more humorous/cute. - aaaand yet another post-promised day fic, but one where Riza REALLY ISN'T DOING WELL/almost dies like a million times at the hospital and roy is sad (!!!). - briggs angst/sick fic - does that make sense? no? it will. Yeah. yeahhh. That list is only going to get bigger. 🤷‍♀️ Some of these will also, shockingly, not have smut lol.
What’s your longest work of the year? So far, ch. 1 of hopeless, breathless, burning slow at a whopping 9, 792 words. It really ran away from me.
What’s your shortest work of the year? mmm, you're all that matters to me anyway at 5,954 words. apparently I can't write anything below 5k lol. 🤷‍♀️
What WIP are you taking into next year with you? Oof, I mean probably most of what I had listed above. I aim to have some of it done - but it's already December 7th, so yeah.
What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag? Smut. lol.
Your favorite character to write this year? Surprisingly, Roy. I almost find him easier to write than Riza. Normally I don't enjoy writing from the male perspective. But Roy Mustang is just 🔥. I was so surprised lol.
The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year? No one, as of yet. But we'll see what I say once I start working more on the multi chaptered fics. 😬
What’s one pairing you want to explore next year? More Royai, maybe with a dash of Roy/Maes. Maybe I'll try a bit of Ed/Winry? Who knows!
Which work of yours have you reread the most? chapter 1 of hopeless, breathless, burning slow. I am so fucking sick of it ahaha helppp.
How many kudos in total did you get this year? Currently at 142! You are all so sweet. 😭
Which work has the most comments? I think cause i'm lovesick at the moment!
Did you do any collaborative works this year? nope! Definitely something I'd consider doing in the future though!
Did you write any gifts this year? maybe! 👀 we shall see
Did you receive any gifts this year? nope!
What’s your most common category? ...Smut. lol. 🤷‍♀️
What do you listen to while writing? ahhhh I love talking about music with my ships! like I said, my ridiculously huge royai playlist. also all of my top songs on spotify were from it, which includes: 1. Say Yes to Heaven - Lana Del Ray (i've got my eye on you / i've got my mind on you) 2. Work Song - Hozier (no grave could hold my body down / i'll crawl home to her) 3. I Wanna Be Yours - Artic Monkeys (secrets i have held in my heart / are harder to hide then i thought / maybe i just wanna be yours) 4. Night We Met - Lord Horan feat. Pheobe Bridges (i had all and then most of you / some and now none of you / take me back to the night we met / i don't know what i'm supposed to do / haunted by the ghost of you) - that ishval restoration fic is definitely going to use a lyric from this song SOMEWHERE Honorable mentions: Die First - Nessa Barrett (someone dies or someone gets hurt / but if one of us dies / i hope i die first) Ya'aburnee - Halsey (i'll never know / if there's danger in confession / or it's memory that presses / like a blade against my throat / another word and i could choke / but what's worst? / tellin' you my feelings / or to die without revealing / that you got inside my head / and set a fire there instead?) Dress - Taylor Swift (there is an indentation in the shape of you / made your mark on me, a golden tattoo / all of this silence and patience / pining and anticipation / my hands are shaking from holding back from you) 10000/10, would play at royai's wedding.
Favorite work you wrote this year? cause i'm lovesick. Again, it was my baby. I loved writing it so much.
Favorite line/passage you wrote this year? mmmm, probably: "She'd planned to stay angry at Mustang for longer, but then he'd surprised her by sauntering into her apartment basically the second his train had arrived, eyes blazing with desire as he collected her in his warm embrace, murmuring you have no idea how much I've been craving to taste you against the soft skin of her throat." (I tried to find one that was mostly sfw lol).
Biggest surprise while writing this year? Just being able to write, in general! It's been so much fun. 💖

The Basics -- 2, 8, 9
The Specifics -- 18, 19, 20
2: Are you a pantser or plotter? Pantser. That's probably why I have so many WIPs where I go back to them and I'm all "Where the fuck was I going with this?"
8. Oldest WIP: Oh lord. I think I have some Buffyverse WIPs that I need to dig out of the text file from my old Yahoo Group alternabuffyfic, but the oldest one I have (from when I started writing it) is "Urge To Fight," which is a CSI: NY/Startgate Atlantis fic that I will finish one day. The oldest WIP I have on AO3 chronologically is "When In University..." a Pondlock xfic which I was going to turn into an original fic because I got told Sherlock was too OOC...then series 3 & 4 happened and I was vindicated that he's a soft little meow meow under it all, so fuck all the haters of that fic it's getting finished in the near future.
9. Current WIP: "What Stork Brings," a Star Trek AOS Spirk fic about them adopting twins. It was recently featured on a reblog by the Tumblr user who came up with the original post that inspired it, so I've gotten a lot of kudos and comments on it and, internet and writing time willing, I'm considering doing it for WIPBB this year. So no updates until September, but it would be finished.
18. If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be, and what would you write about? I wanna write with my personal fic gremlin @strangelock221b! We have a series she drops the occasional fic in (The Best Laid Plans), but that's mostly my baby. I don't know what we'd right about...maybe a new series with her OC Leland and Mary Bennet, or something in the Star Trek AOS verse or the MCU. The possibilities are endless!
19. How do you keep yourself motivated? Honestly? I've been super unmotivated since, like, May of last year, when I got COVID and developed long hauler symptoms. I will probably start working more once I have housing, since it's super hard for me to not write on a table/flat surface, and I'm stuck at the shelter without internet most of the time (plus right now I'm putting most of my energy into finding housing before we need to leave the shelter). But right now I have an Urge to be artistic, so I'm probably going to work on 2023 WIPBB art claims and fanmixes for a bit and work on "What Stork Brings" when I can fully charge my laptop and sit at the dining room table, which is stuff I can do with a minimal need to be online.
20. How many WIPs and story ideas do you have? I have between 65 - 70 published WIPs up on AO3, I think. I haven't checked in a while. I also have a HUGE folder of prompts that I've been trying to whittle down by giving them to Molly Hooper Appreciation week participants in our new December round, though @apromptadaykeepstheblockaway (which is my newest prompt blog) and just to friends of mine who want simple prompts that they can apply to any ship/fandom.

20 Questions for Fic Writers!
Another post in a seemingly unending series of posts in which I talk about writing to make me feel like I've accomplished any actual writing. Results so far are middling.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
53! How and when?? (The answer is "Kà and a pandemic.")
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
228,456
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Just Cirque du Soleil at the moment, but a long running rp is soaking up the majority of my creative thoughts just now. That's its own whole thing with a blog and fics and AUs upon AUs.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Wing Dust (Miraculous Ladybug, T, perpetually bemused that I wrote this in the first place and yet here it is at number one)
Downpour (Mad Max Fury Road, G, my first for a fandom that did so much for me as an author)
War Song (Mad Max Fury Road, T, strong contender for favorite fic I've ever written)
Idle in Neutral (Mad Max Fury Road, G, I forget I wrote this one all the time and whenever I get kudos for it I'm like whom??? I love that it has a life all its own.)
Mantle (Mad Max Fury Road, G, another one I continually forget about lol)
That's the curse of writing for tiny fandoms! The ones I have loved most, that have mangled my brain for months on end are destined to have like a dozen readers total. On the other hand it's very gratifying to know I'm writing for a small handful of people extra extra psyched to find content. And in the meantime I have these, many of which I've let myself forget, that have found their audience anyway. It's a very rewarding feeling, like I could make the effort, move on, and still leave people happy years later.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Most times yes!! And I'm so so lucky to get the most thoughtful comments of all on my most niche fics. Makes it all more than worth it.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Walkabout and I love it. Cirque du Soleil Kà, T.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Tea Series by a mile. Didn't know I had it in me until pushed by @studiokawaii , and I'm so glad they did. Cirque du Soleil Kà, T.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Honestly so few people are aware of them that it's not really a risk. What is hugely embarrassing is the confirmed knowledge that Cirque artists know about and have read some of them. But there's nothing I can do about that, lol.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes! Somehow I feel like I'm always writing it, and then I look at my total body of work and am like "...where is all of it." Historically it was mostly M/M, but Kà got me actually writing F/M for the first time. Most common themes are experience vs. inexperience and tense power dynamics. I'd love to write more dub con.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Only ever one. Decree, another for Mad Max Fury Road, in which the Vuvalini are each granted one single potentially worldshaping wish à la Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I know why people don't click on it, but I'm fond of it!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No and tbh I can't imagine anyone would bother.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No but I'd be open to it if anyone cared to take on the project! I love translated fics. What a nice thing to do, granting someone else's work the opportunity for new eyes.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but again @studiokawaii and I have had some great fic/art collaboration in the past couple years with inspiration coming from both directions.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Snape/Harry. I never talk about it, I've never written it myself (I think?? maybe in high school I did), but honestly it's been so long that I think there's no unseating it now. The amount of care, dedication, creativity, and talent coming from that group, even after so long, is truly unique and remarkable. All time favorite ship to write has been Counselor's Son/Twin Sister by a landslide.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
It pains me, but I think I'm kidding myself if I try to claim The Shape of Things To Come doesn't qualify. I love the idea, I know exactly where I want it to go, but something about the enormity of the ground that needs to be covered in order to get there has spooked me.
I also have two highly embarrassing WIPs - one for Shadow & Bone and another for fucking Teen Titans - that I doubt will ever be finished. I just adore both ideas and it's fun thinking they've at least taken some kind of shape somewhere, even if they never make it out into the world.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Creating believable characterization and distinctive voices from very sparse source material. At least that's what I've been told, which I take as an immense compliment. I also think I write tension rather well, whether it be sexual, conflicting emotions, or threatening hostility.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Well right now my ability to finish anything feels pretty fuckin weak. I struggle with action scenes, like physical fights or scenes in which a lot is going on in multiple places at once. Hitting a natural rhythm with them is very difficult for me. Pacing for longer fics doesn't come easily to me either, and I always worry if my longer work reads like a bulleted list of stuff I knew needed to happen rather than an actual story with a true and natural flow. That's part of what's bogging me down with Shape of Things.
I also love commas too much.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Depends. You can't just throw it in there imo - it's a great opportunity for mindful characterization and shouldn't be treated like checking a box, or worse, a reminder to your audience that the source material doesn't match the language you're writing in. I'm not multilingual so the most you're likely to see from me are vague hints at certain dialects and accents in Kà, for instance, since they're not speaking any real language anyway.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Teen Titans. It's still out there somewhere, likely a somewhat embarrassing blip on the radar of some long forgotten LJ community. I got some early encouragement there that put me where I am today. Nurture and welcome new writers, people!!
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Borderline Suspect. I put so much into it. It was a real milestone fic for me, unlike anything I'd ever written before, and it stands so apart in my memory that I just can't choose any other. At the time I thought it was everything I could possibly want to say about Ka and CS/TS, but when it was through I found myself more motivated and inspired than ever.
Some of the most valuable and rewarding feedback I've ever gotten came from this fic, and the intensity of the response, however contained by the size of the fandom, has made me feel incredibly lucky. People came out of nowhere to talk to me about it, send art for it, push me through writing lulls with comments that turned entire days around. I made new friends because of it. I don't see myself writing anything quite like it ever again. Even if I did, I couldn't dream of a more gratifying response. Cirque du Soleil Kà, E.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Five! Not a lot atm but I used to write a lot on wattpad as well 😅
2. What is your AO3 word count?
11,227 words :P
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Tokusatsu! Namely Kamen Rider Build and King Ohger atm, but I also have a planned Ex-Aid fic (and some old my little pony fics I may move over from wattpad lmao)
4. What are your top five fics by Kudos?
Since I only have five, my top three are
Getting to Know the Boogeyman
Of Courtship & Coccinelles and
Red Looks Good on You
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Definitely Sento’s Wandering Mind, the whole thing is a vent piece and I heavily relate to Sento so it’s more of personal processing than anything lmao
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably Of Courtship & Coccinelles! I write most stuff with fluffy endings but that one definitively ends on a bright note
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nope!
9. Do you write smut? If so, which kind?
I’ve written two smut pieces so far, which is a huge step for me personally for many reasons, but they’re both best match fics :3 one angst, one fun and sexy. Honestly I draw more of it than I write it lol
10. Do you write crossovers? I hate the craziest crossover you’ve ever written?
I’m not much for writing crossovers BUT the exaid fic I’ve had in the works for a while technically is one bc it’s hatsune Miku as a bugster lol
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Also no but would be neat :)
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not on AO3 but I love bouncing ideas off of people and also working on characters together, esp mine and @chilipepperconverse ‘s KR OCs :3 actually I used to co-write with friends all the time in middle school when we wrote together.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Bonkers ass question but rn my answer would probably be Bravesnipe?? But I feel like there’s definitely ones I’m crazier abt out there. Maybe sonotaro…
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Unfortunately probably the Miku exaid fic ;-; the concept is fun and cute but with some stuff I get an outline or somethin cookin and then it never sees the light of day again
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I’m pretty good at detailed descriptions and visuals. I’m much more an artist than a writer, so I’ve spoken before about how I view my stories like written descriptions of story boards, and I absolutely love to try and paint a picture with my words.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
In my actual writing I’m unsure and would love to hear any feedback, but for me it’s actually just GETTINg myself to write. It takes a lot of mental energy to start the task and I can never really make myself do it, it’s only when I’m in a rare and intense mood for writing somethin that I’ve got a REALLY solid idea on. That’s mostly why I’ve got so few fics. I have more ideas, but it’s difficult to get myself to a point with any of them where I’ll actually write any of it out lol
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Personally I think it’s neat when other people do it, but unless it’s French I probably never will. Even then I’d be so nervous about getting it wrong I’d probably find some kinda work around
19. First fandom you wrote for?
On AO3 it’s King Ohger, but in reality…. Oh boy. Warriors fanfic abt my sonas when I was like 10? Outside of OCs my first canon-aligned fanfic was probably one of the my little pony ones on wattpad. I did mostly original character stuff when I wrote frequently as a tween so I guess I didn’t start with fanfic until like a year or two ago.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I only have a few so I’m proud of them all for different reasons, but I think Sento’s Wandering Mind is one that I’m particularly fond of even tho it didn’t do as well as the others. It’s conceptually something I’ve been trying to put into words for a long time, and it was my first foray into writing anything REMOTELY sexual, which was a huge jump for me that I’m very proud of as a person who previously struggled a lot more with “catholic shame” if I had to put a word to it. It’s kinda a heavy read and isn’t perfect, but the fact that it’s out in the world is important to me and I’m happy with it. Hope you all enjoy!!
Tagging @chilipepperconverse and @cantarella-rose and anyone else who’d like to participate! :3

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Of course, I do! I’m usually slow because I feel like I say the same thing over and over and I get busy. But yes, I read and eventually respond to each one.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
That would be Fading, because it’s just Tess dying.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think Etta’s Sunrise, but my Polivia anthology has so much fluff!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Years ago when I was fresh out of high school and writing my first fics, yes. I had a Castle fic get posted and mocked on a fic flaming blog. It…wasn’t fun. But the fic was genuinely horrible. Nowadays, no. I’ve not had a single negative said to me.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Ohhhhh yes I do! It’s pretty vanilla in comparison to some of the other stuff out there, at least for my Tessjoel stuff (Polivia are proudly vanilla) and I tend to lean on euphemisms instead of actual words. (I, a married adult, am unfortunately a child when it comes to actually writing sex words.) Overall, I try to keep it very realistic and tasteful.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Not interested even a little bit. I might consider it if I wrote fic for something like Marvel or DC, or if I wrote for fandoms that naturally matched up.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Lmaoooo no. I’m not that good.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I wish! I would be honored if someone who was a native speaker of another language wanted to translate my work.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nah. Honestly, I don’t work well with others. I’d have to be super close to the other writer and know I’m on the same page.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
From a romance perspective, Polivia. They are on that soulmate shit and I can comfortably write my super fluffy stuff. There are so many moments we missed to fill in, but also some devastating things to explore. From a fun perspective…Tessjoel. The possibilities with them are endless because there is so much open to the canon and they’re also so adaptable for AUs.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I’m really wondering if I’m gonna finish my Polivia alphabet fic. I’ve been stuck on K for months! But also Of Artists and Architects is a huge undertaking, and I’m just wondering if I’m gonna get discouraged enough to quit again.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think—hope—my characters feel very human. I also know I’m good at capturing the mundane and every day.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Description and action. I don’t weave vivid worlds like some writers can, and I am terrified of super action-packed intense scenes. I just don’t know I could do it.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If I did, I would be consulting a native speaker of that language. One, to understand their culture better (because it stands to reason the character would be of that origin) but also to make sure I have my words correct.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Castle, way back in the day!
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Declining to answer this one on grounds of a case of imposter syndrome today.

𝐆𝐄𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐔𝐍
———  BASICS!
NAME:  L.
PRONOUNS: she/her they/them
ZODIAC SIGN: Aquarius
TAKEN OR SINGLE: Taken (married)
———  THREE  FACTS!
I am a cat mom, I have two british short hair annoyances who I love dearly despite them constantly trying to get my attention 24/7
I am an artist - I have been unable to do much art lately though, but man, I hope I can again soon when my brain lets me again... I sometimes even write fics but whenever I RP here on tumblr, I do not really write fics as all my energy goes into RPing lol
I am self-employed and have an Etsy shop where I sell stuff for jewelry-making. It cannot support my life though, but at least I do something :'D
———  EXPERIENCE!
PLATFORMS USED: I always have been RPing on tumblr, and more recently also on Discord but sparsely so
PLOTTING / WINGING IT / MEMES: I love all of that, honestly! I love plotting, but plotting oftentimes comes hard to me, so winging stuff takes a bit of pressure away and memes can just open up so many possible plot lines that can then be discussed and help to get the muses to know each other and develop a relationship... so yeah!
———  MUSE  PREFERENCE!
GENDER: I always write male muses. Always has been the case, always will be. Idk why that is but I just can work much better with them
MULTI OR SINGLE: I always had single blogs, then started a multi a while ago but immediately turned it back into a single before switching fandoms (lol). I just... can't do multis. I prefer to have 'separate dashes' - it also makes me nervous not to know with which muse someone wants to interact when following me, so single muse blogs it is so I know when someone follows they want the muse I portray there. So man if you are a multi, kudos to you, I could never it's so stressful!
LEAST FAVOURITE FACECLAIM(S): Uh. Interesting question. I think using Yo.utu.bers / blo.gger.s etc as FCs is cringe and I feel uncomfortable with it and I won't interact with you if you do. Also RPing a real-life person as the real-life person, I am not a huge fan of that either and I won't interact
———  FLUFF / ANGST / SMUT
FLUFF: I love it so much. Literally what keeps me alive
ANGST:  I love angst a lot - however, if it happens between muses I ship and/or best-friend muses / muses that are very close (family etc), said angst NEEDS to be mixed into fluff. Like, I love to have very angsty moments that happen in between but I need to have an happy ending to the Angst? I cannot write bad endings for close muses. It fucks with my mental state and writing has always been a happy place for me - so while I love to hurt myself, I need to have something happy to make the pain go away lol does that make sense?
SMUT :  I actually am quite used to writing smut, and I have been writing smut for a long time - and I would say I am okay at doing it (I think lol, so far no one has really complained). So, I am totally okay with smut - but I prefer to have some OOC contact with the other mun and chemistry needs to exist between the muses you know? Also sometimes, while I love writing smut, I just can't write it with my brain going 'ehhh', so I cannot do nonstop smut and would prefer to have smut in between and also other things between the muses happening.

2023 AO3 Wrapped
Made by @floydsin
How many words have you written this year?  189,786 words! GODDAMN!! I didn't know I had that in me.
How many works did you publish this year? 11 fics.
What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?  Titan Spawn. It is my most popular but I think that comes from the passion I've put into it. It's been a lot of fun and a huge crowing experience that I hope to continue into the New Year.
What work of yours has the most hits?  Titan Spawn
What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?  Again, I gotta say Titan Spawn. My friends will tell you the same, it was meant to just be a silly twoshot to get me out of my winter funk. Then everyone's love for it turned it into what it is now.
Favorite title you used? Caught In A Multimouse Trap. It's simple and cute.
If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most? I didn't really use any song lyrics. And even the ones I did were really just random and sporatic with no trend to them.
Pairing you wrote the most for this year?  I guess either Willuz or Alyanette. Willuz because technically all of Titan Spawn is considered Willuz even though they've had little screentime. And Alyanette has featured in like 2 1/2 of my fics. Though except for one it's mostly a background thing again. I don't do much shipping anymore.
Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?  Amivee since it's so out of left field but works very well in Titan Spawn.
What work was the quickest to write?  A Kitten's Responsibility. Wrote it in an afternoon in between my family's Christmas Eve-Eve party.
What work took you the longest to write?  I'd say chapters 10-11 of Titan Spawn. They were meant to be one chapter but split off into two due to their raw size. Took me most of the summer and over 30K words.
How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?  Three I still intend to finish. A BNA Swap AU I'm mostly done with, just haven't found it in me to get past the festival scene. A miraculous fic where Adrien/Chat Noir thinks Ladybug and Marinette are dating. Just stuck on the specifics of one scene but I intend to finish. And another one with Gabriel mentoring Marinette back from September I similarly just haven't found it in me to finish despite being 75% done.
What’s your longest work of the year?  Titan Spawn again... 145,769 words.
What’s your shortest work of the year?  Hush Little Tanuki. Makes sense. It was originally gonna be a chapter of another larger fic that went belly up.
What WIP are you taking into next year with you? See 12.
What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag?  "Hurt/Comfort"... honestly I shouldn't be surprised.
Your favorite character to write this year?  Definitely Vee. Specifically in Titan Spawn. She got so little screen time in the show but was so fun to make her even sassier and have her be more of the older sister to Luz and King. But Titan Spawn Luz was fun with all her quirks and I was happy to write Multimosue right at the finish line.
The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?  I'mma say most of the kwamis. They all have really vague personalities that were hard to really get while writing. Especially when I was new to the fandom. (Still kinda am.)
What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?  I guess Amivee just because it's rare and funny. But again, not really going into the year with shipping on the mind.
Which work of yours have you reread the most?  Titan Spawn since it's so long and I do like to occasionally look back at older chapters. But by the end it felt like Caught In A Multimouse Trap. I kinda skimped out on editing near the end just because I was frustrated with having read it so much both for editing and just catching myself up after breaks.
How many kudos in total did you get this year?  1,275 Kudos.
Which work has the most comments?  Titan Spawn. Obviously the biggest and caught everyone right at the peak of the TOH fandom near the finale.
Did you do any collaborative works this year? Yes. @sashonya helped me a lot with Titan Spawn and we collaborated on Beast Or Man? (How Should I Know?) & No Sight, All Heart. plus Beta reading and helping to brainstorm Heart Of Aspiration.
Did you write any gifts this year?  No Really.
Did you receive any gifts this year?  No
What’s your most common category?  Gen with a few Teen.
What do you listen to while writing?  Not much really. Sometimes I listen to whatever music is hitting my fancy at the time or like a video essay, but I regularly pause or tune it out when I get into the motions.
Favorite work you wrote this year? That is near impossible to choose. I love all my wretched children! (Otherwise I don't finish making them) But if forced to choose, probably Titan Spawn and Caught In A Multimosue Trap. Though maybe that last one was just cause it's so recent. But I really love Multimouse and had fun writing her tiny and cute.
Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?  I have written way too much to choose. I really do like most of what I made.
Biggest surprise while writing this year?  Titan Spawn taking off. Really I meant for it to just be a quick peak into a possible AU since I was in my winter funk. But people loved it so much and Sash really inspired me to add more to it. And now we have the goliath we got now.

AO3 Stats Quiz!
Tagged by @emeraldhaze15 this was a lot of fun! I haven't taken a good look at my stats in quite some time. It's the perfect thing to get me back into a writing mood after vacation.
➼ What is your total posted word count on AO3?
933,105. Damn, writing fic for over 10 years really adds up.
➼ How often do you write?
I try to write at least a little bit every week, but sometimes my schedule just gets busy and I can go a month or so without really writing. Having multiple projects going helps because when I get stuck or bored on one story I can look at another one, and then something gets written.
➼ Do you have a routine for writing?
Not really. I like to listen to music when I write, so I try to have something good playing, and I'll get myself a drink to I'm not either forgetting to hydrate when I get in the groove, or getting up every 2 minutes. But I'm not sure I'd call it a solid routine.
➼ What are your favourite tropes/pairings?
I mean, I am always a fan of all the angst and drama. Something to really gut me emotionally. But on the opposite end of the spectrum I'm also a huge fan of fluff. Hurt/Comfort is so great for both.
As for pairings, honestly I'm not much of a strongly-opinionated shipper. I'll ship anything if I think the dynamic is good or the other writers and artists bring their A-games.
➼ Do you have a favourite fic of yours?
Oh gosh, picking favorites is so hard. It's almost impossible to ask. I guess with my currently In Progress fics, I'll say Our Dear Empress and Earth and Rebirth. But I have one or two new stories cooking that i haven't posted yet that might shove their way into my favorites whenever I get around to posting them.
➼ Your fic with the most kudos?
That would actually be one of my pieces posted under a second account with 1,456.
For my main account though it's Aggressive Negotiations with 370.
➼ Anything you don’t like about your writing?
It could be really easy to go through with a fine-toothed comb and nitpick at my writing to find the flaws, but I really don't want to do that.
And I don't want this to sound egotistical either, because trust me, I don't think my writing is flawless.
But No, generally I like my writing. I write the stories I want to read, I write my stories for me, and when I'm not being critical of myself and my work, I can look at all of them and genuinely say "I really like this."
➼ Now something you do like?
As I said above, I like my stories because I wrote them for me. The characterizations work for me. The plots entertain me. The dialogue and banter keep me engaged.
Anything else that comes along with it is just a really nice bonus.
Tags: I'm still half on vacation-brain, so I'm not gonna bother with tags this time around. if you want to play along, feel free to say I tagged you.

3 and 20 for the wrapped ask game?
3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
why is this already hard lmao. I'm torn between Wake Up. just because it was such a huge undertaking and I finally finished it, and honestly that Quackity art piece/prose I made recently just because I'd never done anything like that before! I don't consider myself to be an artist so making that and actually liking how it came out was a very nice feeling ^-^
20. Which work of yours have you reread the most?
Oh this is hard. I reread my own works perhaps too often, and sadly ao3 does not track your own works in your history, so I'd just have to guess, um. I tend to reread chapters as I get comments on them, so Wake Up I've reread chapters of quite a bit! That, or Karl and Quackity (don't) Date, just because out of the mafia au that one has the clearest focus.

💝 or 🕯 for the writer's emoji ask?
💝 what is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?
hmmm... i rarely have any clear expectations or hopes for a fic when i post it (beyond like, people saying "this was cute :)" for fluff or "this was sad :(" for angst LOL) but i guess i'd say the hop charcuterie one (Plenty Cheese, Plenty Breid, Plenty Mair Tae Spare) surprised me in that it got a response At All lmao. not a huge number of hits but a lot of people who did read it seemed to like it, even tho it's just. like. not even 500 words of hop trying a new snack AND NOTHING ELSE HAPPENS! there's raileon but it's only BARELY alluded to in the actual text!
but i am of course grateful... i'm glad people can enjoy the nice mundane things too :)
🕯️ (the second candle specifically, it was clarified) how do you think engaging with each other through tumblr, twitter, comments, kudos, creates healthy fandom experiences? How do you deal with that if you're not a social person/experience social anxiety?
truly i have no business having any kind of remotely big-picture take on this subject, but for the past several years i've had the fortune of a near-consistently relaxed and chill fandom experience... i think part of that is like, honestly, me not really having the time or energy or inclination to be talking and mingling a lot, which does reduce my odds of encountering Villains.
but the fact is, you do miss 100% of the shots you don't take, which can sometimes feel like a terrible injustice for those like me who, again, are constantly tired and anxious and such, cuz u also miss the shots you CAN'T take. almost like cut off from fandom engagement for reasons not fully in your control. what has helped me is slowly accruing the wisdom to tell Who would be good to engage with and How to talk to them in a way that... while i still struggle with sounding """normal""" i do at least try to convey sincerity. i think sincerity is important. anyway u put that wisdom to use by trying to make your limited # of social interactions count. even if it doesn't end up going anywhere more meaningful down the line, i do take comfort in knowing i said something nice to someone and let them know their artistic efforts are appreciated.
idk if this answers the question lol. i could say more but i'm hungy

Honestly being a Content Creator(tm) now, it's given me added perspective for other creators. Bc I have all these ppl yelling about how much they love my writing & all this stuff . & it makes me think about how I've felt with fics and art I love. How much of a pedestal I put the creators on.
& I wonder if ppl do the same for me. Thinking im So Cool and looking at my writing like a Masterpiece (a recurring thing ppl have referred to my writing as in comments). But then zoom in behind the page and u see me in the same lounge wear I've worn for the past week, writing like 95% of my fic on my phone while bundled in bed
Every other creator is A Person like that, no matter how wowed we may be by what they make.

Us fanfic writing shippers have always known that these two are not exactly... vanilla.
So, on the occasion of Lila smacking Diego twice this season and them waking up with ropes and shit, let me share with you some of my favourite mildly and more kinky (most of them are pretty explicit though) fics from post season two (and yes, I will unashamedly plug my own fics here as well). Mind the tags with all of these.
Oh, before I begin my recommendation, as someone who’s seeing a huge influx of kudos right now (which is absolutely awesome), you can absolutely comment on an older fic. I guarantee, the fic author’s will be stoked. I’ve not had a single comment since S3 came out. Come talk to me about fanfic, please!
My absolute favourite is this Tattoo Artist AU by @pepperf. It’s just so physical: Skin
Another of Pepper’s mild aus of post S2 in which Lila and Diego start a crime fighting duo and Diego’s very into the cat woman look: Aren’t we a pair?
The one “Diego gets pegged” fic that I really enjoy (I totally get how everyone gets there, it’s just not usually my jam): a baseline mutual respect for bodily autonomy by katplanet
At Herb and Dot’s wedding the rest of the Hargreeves accidentally and awkwardly end up witnessing Lila and Diego getting it on (this is a four part series but the parts basically function as chapters): Herb & Dot tie the knot by PogoGogoMojoJojo
Post S2 AU in which Diego takes over Al’s Gym and Lila has a bad day and they sort it out the best way they know how: Kiss with a fist by me
Also post S2 AU in which Lila is just recently back and the two of them are still navigating their relationship and Lila gets a little too into Diego being a bit of an asshole in public (all very understandable circumstances): Hellhound on my Trail also by me
Completely plotless smut in which Lila wants to find out how she feels about choking in bed: Baby, keep loving me also also by me
I have started working on stuff for S3 but I have been very tired since my binge and also can’t get away from looking at show stuff, and honestly, they were so perfect this season, it’s hard to know what exactly I could add XD (I will add something, I swear, and if it’s just the sex scenes)
