on occasion I think about season 9 human Cas but endverse-ified because. Well for one he's been through a lot and maybe he deserves a little bit of rampant hedonism as a treat. For two I like the idea of angels as beings of hunger and desire and the idea that when given unfilteted access to like the sensations of a human body they almost inevitably pursue excess. Lastly of course is the fact that this will make Dean crazy. Cas wouldn't even be nearly as dysfunctional as endverse Cas but Dean would see him rolling a joint and smack it out of his hands while his brain just returns dial-up noises. Unable to process, Cas you need to shave your face right now and you're not allowed to have sex ever again what do you MEAN I'm being a hypocrit?

Anyway that's not the point. The point is that he has a fuck van. It's beat up, it's old, he probably didn't even buy it he got it as payment for something, and he thinks it's the best thing in the world. There is without a doubt an over the top psychedelic mural and Cas just thinks it's well done and likes the colours. There's a mattress in the back. It's there because he sleeps in the van most of the time but also he definitely just does have sex on it. He has no reason to think that's weird this is just his house. Everyone he takes back to the van is like "I can't believe I'm about to fuck this shady dude in his sex van" but he's so weird and earnest and sweet that they do it anyway. And then he drops them off wherever they need to go the next morning with a coffee and a breakfast sandwhich he got from a drive through and the bewildering sense of being displaced in time and that's the fuck van experience.

Human Cas - Part 9

Set S9 AU.  Even with being the bunker, adjusting to being human isn’t easy for Cas.  Dean is trying to be there as much as he can for Cas, but there is only so much he can do if Cas doesn’t talk about it and the increasing fantasies about Dean are definitely something Cas doesn’t feel he can talk about.  (Warning for Cas being a bit suicidal at one point)

Set S9.  A haunted apartment building that caters to the queer community has Dean approaching Cas, asking him to pretend to be his boyfriend for the hunt.  The one thing he asks is that Sam doesn’t know because he’d tease Dean.  While living together Dean lets his walls down and lets Cas see more of the Real Dean than anyone has seen before.  If you want a happy ending, I recommend skipping the final chapter and reading one of the alternate endings, I liked the first alternate ending.

Summary:

Cast out of the bunker, Castiel is lost. Adapting to humanity feels like a punishment for his deeds. When he becomes sick, weakened by cold and hunger, the battery on his phone allows him one last call to say goodbye. Alarmed, Dean rushes to save Cas. He’s right on time. But with Ezekiel threatening to let Sam die if Cas steps back into the bunker, they are forced to share a motel room. Castiel slowly recovers under Dean’s care, when an accidental kiss changes everything. Things might finally turn for the better, if it weren’t for the situation at home.

Cas has tried to break free of what heaven has forced him into. Always striving for free will. Now that Cas is human though, he must be as strong as ever.

He remains an angel at his core - still a divine work of art.

Take this suptober day 10 ("Close Shave") fanart. A little atypical destielprazole (because apparently I can't handle my shit and I fell back with everything, so I literally sketched this on a paper towel yesterday during breakfast, while I simultaneously arranged the appointments in my agenda and replied to a few texts. Here's the original sketch for evidence):

Last night I digitalized it and finished it with my drawing tablet. It changed quite a bit in the process but the important thing (human Cas in a hoodie 🥺) has remained.

Human Cas <3

the idea that Cas is human post-canon is so special to me. Like Jack releases him from the empty, and instead of making him angelic like Chuck kept doing because Dean ‘needed him for his power’, Jack listened to Cas’s greatest wish: to grow old with the people he cares about. To grow old with Dean.  And at first, Cas is super depressed because “Dean only keeps me around because he needs me for my skills/powers” and “Dean has kicked me out before when I was powerless” but as soon as that man steps foot in the bunker and Dean realizes it’s really him just sans powers, it’s a fix it arc for what should have happened after April. No kicking him out, no “you have to leave”s (I know it was for Sam but idgaf). Just making him PB&Js, giving him all of Dean’s favorite foods because “now that Cas can taste, he needs to know what ____ tastes like”.  And like, Jack would. They had that whole convo about “humans only burn bright for a little bit” and Jack SAW how much that hurt Cas to think about, so he does the one thing he can to repay the man who gave him so much.
